Chapman refuted the idea passionately that he would ever play again for the New York Yankees.</p><p>“No way, not even dead,” Chapman said on the Swing Completo podcast, and reported by ESPN. “If I were told that I was being traded to New York, I’d pack my things and go home. I’ll retire right on the spot if that happens. I’m not crazy. Never again.”</p><p>Chapman didn’t go into great detail about why he wouldn’t play for the Yankees again. He did say though that he didn’t feel appreciated there.</p><p>“I dealt with a lot of disrespect [with the Yankees],” Chapman said. “I put up with a lot of things. I knew that they just wanted to find a way to get rid of me, but they didn’t know how. And I just dealt with it quietly, kept playing, and doing what I always do.”</p><p>The well-traveled reliever, who put in some great performances against the Yankees this season, said he had no problem with Yankees players or coaches.</p><p>“I got along well with all the players,” Chapman said. “Never had a problem with anybody, even the manager. We’re friends and we talk and everything. He joined ClutchPoints in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">MLB</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Recently, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/new-york-yankees/yankees-news-devin-williams-factor-possible-ny-return">New York Yankees saw</a> their 2025 MLB season come to an end with an AL divisional series loss <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/new-york-yankees/yankees-news-aaron-judge-record-broken-cal-raleigh">against the Toronto Blue Jays</a> in four games. It was another early playoff loss for a Yankees organization that is still trying to capture its first World Series title since the 2009 season.</p><p>Many are expecting the Yankees to look to make some considerable changes this offseason, including potential tweaks to its pitching staff.</p><p>Recently, Aroldis Chapman, who played for the Yankees previously in his career and had some big moments, but also some big letdowns, spoke on his interest, or lack thereof, in a <a href="https://x.com/TalkinYanks/status/1982836075052847408" rel="noopener">reunion with New York.</a></p><p>“No way, not even dead… if I were told that I was being traded to New York, I’d pack my things and go home. I’ll retire right on the spot if that happens… I dealt with a lot of disrespect there,” said Chapman, per Talkin’ Yanks on X, via SwingCompleto LLC on Instagram.</p><p>Chapman indeed drew the ire of the Yankees’ fanbase throughout his career on multiple occasions, including when he gave up a home run to Houston Astros star Jose Altuve that sent the team to the World Series back in 2019.</p><h2><b>A big offseason for the Yankees</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Judge-vs-Toronto.jpg"><figcaption>Brad Penner-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Overall, the New York Yankees are looking for ways to build a viable contender that can not just make it to the playoffs (which they’ve had no problem doing), but win consistently once they get there.</p><p>Superstar Aaron Judge shook off some of his postseason demons this fall with a huge home run in Game 3 against the Blue Jays that allowed the Yankees to climb back into the series, but overall, he didn’t get nearly enough help from his teammates for New York to pull the series out of the fire.</p><p>It was a disappointing result for a Yankees team that had been in the World Series the previous year, losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.</p><p>In any case, the Yankees could look quite a bit different by the time they hit the field next year.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

For the Boston Red Sox, they went into the heart of enemy territory as they faced their sworn rival New York Yankees on the road for Game 1 of their AL Wild Card series clash and proceeded to snatch the hearts of the home team with a dominant 3-1 win that saw incredible pitching performances from two southpaws — starter Garrett Crochet and closer Aroldis Chapman.</p><p>There were some nervous moments for the Red Sox to deal with on the road, however. Crochet was dominant all night long and he ended up throwing 7.2 innings of one-run ball, with the lone blemish on his ledger being the solo shot he allowed to Anthony Volpe. He allowed just four hits and struck out 11, but he had already thrown 117 pitches, forcing Chapman into action.</p><p>Chapman did get the final out of the eighth and was set up for a strong finish to what has been a thoroughly magical performance from the Red Sox to that point. But the hard-throwing lefty had to make it hard for himself. He allowed three consecutive hits to start the ninth, but the Yankees were unable to score any runs.</p><p>With the bases loaded and no outs in the inning, the Red Sox closer locked in and proceeded to strike out Giancarlo Stanton, induce a weak fly ball from Jazz Chisholm Jr., preventing the runner from third to score, and then he struck out Trent Grisham to end the game — putting the Red Sox in the driver’s seat of this AL Wild Card series.</p><h2><b>Fans wowed by Aroldis Chapman’s escape act to earn the save for the Red Sox</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Red-Sox-closer-Aroldis-Chapman_a2ce52.jpg"><figcaption>Brett Davis-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>It would have been much more smooth-sailing had Chapman simply retired the first three batters he faced. Allowing the Yankees to get momentum when they have the best offense in MLB, not to mention that they were at home, could have been disastrous for the Red Sox. But he got himself out of the jam he started anyway, and fans on social media were wowed.</p><p>“Aroldis Chapman, shutting the door on the Yankees in October.
