Numerous other big-name players on the team have not played well enough to get a nomination. Francisco Lindor has been very good but has once again struck out on getting All-Star recognition in his time with the Mets.</p><p>Lindor is often maligned for his massive contract while not being one of the absolute best players in baseball. Lost in all the discussions about whether he is overpaid is that he is still very good. With an OPS of .802, strong defense at shortstop and increased power leading to 19 home runs already, Lindor is having another very productive season.</p><p>Brandon Nimmo takes massive umbrage with Lindor being snubbed from the All-Star game. He directed his anger toward voters who voted in Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post, <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/07/08/mets-players-believe-francisco-lindor-deserves-to-be-all-star/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social" rel="noopener">citing Arizona’s Chase Field</a> as a reason why.</p><p>“Francisco has all these extra-base hits in a park that is not a hitter’s ballpark and you could argue that Arizona is almost as bad as Colorado,” Nimmo said, via the New York Post. “They always talk about the Hall of Fame and all this stuff and I heard all the crap with Todd Helton and his numbers are inflated because he’s in Coors Field, well you can say that same stuff about Arizona. [Lindor] should be in the All-Star game — 100 percent…Based on where we are in the season and what we just did in Arizona, that pick should have gone to [Lindor]. I will stand behind that.”</p><p>The Diamondbacks hitters are indeed <a href="https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/statcast-park-factors?type=year&amp;year=2023&amp;batSide=&amp;stat=index_wOBA&amp;condition=All&amp;rolling=&amp;sort=3&amp;sortDir=desc" rel="noopener">aided by their ballpark</a> but, truthfully, not nearly as much as Colorado Rockies hitters are. The Mets have one of the least hitter-friendly parks in MLB. Perdomo is having a strong season but the argument for Lindor over him is sound. Ultimately, one of the key players for a surprisingly great D-Backs team gets the nod.</p><p>In 2023, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mets-news-francisco-lindor-buck-showalter-firing-rumors" rel="noopener">very little has gone right</a> for the Mets. He was in <a href="https://www.mlb.com/mets/news/brandon-nimmo-hits-walk-off-double-in-10th-as-mets-beat-yankees" rel="noopener">much better spirits</a> after a Mets win came off his bat.</p><p>“Everything’s better when we win. When you win, you can look back and say, ‘OK, we’ll learn from [our mistakes],” Nimmo said. “When you lose, it’s not really thought of that way. And so everything’s better when you win.”</p><p>Nimmo isn’t dropping some philosophical knowledge, but it’s interesting to get a peak into the mind of an athlete, especially after he achieved one of the most exciting things he can do in his profession.</p><p>The Mets haven’t been the dominant team they were for much of 2022 en route to a 101-win season. Perhaps this sort of win could serve as a sparkplug for one of the most talented rosters in the league.</p><p>There always seems to be something memorable coming out of a Subway Series game. Wednesday’s contest had it all, as it featured a fantastic starting pitcher’s duel, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/yankees-news-isiah-kiner-falefa-stolen-base-mets" rel="noopener">a steal of home</a> and Brandon Nimmo’s walk-off.</p><p>The Mets and Yankees will play each other two more times this season with the Yankees hosting on July 25 and 26.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Strider has a history of trouble with the Mets; in six prior appearances he holds a lowly 5.03 ERA, which only got worse on Thursday night. Entering their three game-set from Junes 6 to 8, the Mets have lost three and won just one against the Braves this season. This is indicative of a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mets-players-fans-fed-up-with-2023" rel="noopener">greater struggle for the Mets</a> in 2023, as they haven’t been able to carry over their 2022 regular season form into the following campaign.</p><p>And the Mets’ 2023 season continues to take a turn for the worse.</p><p>Following their 13-10 loss to the Braves <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mets-vs-braves-prediction-odds-pick-how-to-watch-6-8-2023" rel="noopener">on Thursday night</a>, the Mets now find themselves on the wrong end of a three-game series sweep at SunTrust Park, plunging their record to a mediocre 30-33. The Mets’ 2022 season led many to believe that a great rivalry was brewing between the two NL East powerhouses, but even Brandon Nimmo <a href="https://twitter.com/timbhealey/status/1667014471347314691" rel="noopener">has conceded</a> that that’s not even close to being the case after taking into account the Braves’ excellence over the past 30 or so years.</p><p>“You could probably say that [the rivalry between the Mets and the Braves has been one-sided] over the last decade or so,” Nimmo said, per Tim Healy of Newsday Sports. “Twenty years or whatever. Take it back to the ‘90s when they were winning the East all the time. It definitely is.”</p><p>Since 1990, the Braves have won the division an incredible 19 times, including 11 consecutive times from 1995 to 2005. During that same time frame, the Mets have only finished above the Braves in the division six times. (Since 1990, the Braves have <a href="https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask/braves-record-vs-mets-since-1990" rel="noopener">posted a 306-234 record</a> against the Mets, per StatMuse.)</p><p>Even in 2022, when the Mets posted their second-best record in franchise history (101-61), it ended with the Braves snatching the division title from under their noses after a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mets-news-francisco-lindor-gets-brutally-honest-about-performance-in-series-sweep-at-the-hands-of-braves" rel="noopener">late-season three-game sweep</a>.</p><p>At the moment, the Mets are languishing at fourth in the NL East, staring at the Braves who are right on top of them once more by 8.5 games. Thus, it’s not hard to see why Brandon Nimmo feels this way about the Mets and Braves’ purported rivalry — for there is none.</p><p>Nevertheless, the Braves have been on the wrong end of a late-season collapse as well (cough, 2011, cough). Brandon Nimmo gave the fans just that Tuesday night versus the Philadelphia Phillies, while also giving teammate and pitcher Kodai Senga a bout of arrhythmia.</p><p>Nick Castellanos launched a ball deep to left center field that looked to be on its way out until the stalwart Nimmo made the save. He has been one of the few players fans can depend on to produce on a regular basis. He is hitting .301 with four home runs and 21 RBIs to go along with solid defense. There were those who probably did a spit take when learning of Nimmo’s eight-year, $162 million contract signing with New York this past offseason, but he has been the glue holding this .500 club together.</p><p>Of course, he is just one man and will need help in order for the Mets to meet their<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mets-news-new-york-sets-insane-299-8-million-mlb-record-previously-set-dodgers" rel="noopener"> hefty expectations</a>. A <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mets-news-kodai-senga-looking-to-keep-up-with-legends-justin-verlander-max-scherzer" rel="noopener">sharp Kodai Senga</a> is a good place to start. The Japanese right-hander recovered nicely after his guy bailed him out and threw seven shutout innings versus Philadelphia, allowing just one hit and striking out nine. The team is desperate for that type of dominating pitching performance, ranking 25th in baseball with a 4.78 ERA heading into the day.</p><p>If players live up to their contracts and expectations like Nimmo and Senga did Tuesday night, the Mets will quickly right this shaky vessel and steer firmly into divisional contention.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
