While it was a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/mlb-stories/mlb-news-blue-jays-dodgers-set-world-series-history-in-game-3-marathon">marathon for the Dodgers in Game 3 against the Blue Jays</a>, the bullpen was crucial in holding the score, with even an appearance from Clayton Kershaw.</p><p>In the top of the 11th inning, Kershaw came in to save Los Angeles from a bases-loaded situation where he had been warming up for a while. With manager Dave Roberts putting him in, Kershaw would get the job done and repair the damage done, as he spoke after the game to the MLB Network about<a href="https://x.com/MLBNetwork/status/1983080991540339057" rel="noopener"> “the life of a bullpen guy.”</a></p><p>“I warmed up a lot. I was loose,” Kershaw said as he threw eight pitches. “Threw enough pitches, but that’s the life of a bullpen guy. I’m learning. So I’m getting ready…I’m a bullpen guy for four more days, and then I’m out.”</p><p>“I just tried to stay ready down there, and thankfully, be a part of it,” Kershaw continued. “Got my number called and got an out. But runs were hard to come by after that as Game 3 headed to extra innings.</p><p>The Dodgers ran into trouble in the 12th inning as Emmet Sheehan loaded the bases with two outs. Dave Roberts decided to go to the bullpen, calling on Clayton Kershaw to get LA out of the jam.</p><p>The legendary Dodgers lefty has had a Hall of Fame career. But Kershaw is not known for his postseason success. However, in Game 3, he came through for Los Angeles. With Nathan Lukes at the plate, Kershaw induced an inning-ending ground out to second. The 18th-year veteran did his job and made some personal history as well. Roberts brought the 11-time All-Star out of the bullpen in Game 3 of the NLDS. And the Philadelphia Phillies <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/dodgers-news-fans-blast-clayton-kershaw-dodgers-loss-nlds-game-3-phillies">lit Kershaw up in a nightmare outing</a>. He allowed five runs (4 earned) on six hits (two home runs) and three walks in two innings of work.</p><p>Game 3 of the NLDS was the only playoff contest the Dodgers lost prior to Game 1 of the World Series. It was also Kershaw’s only postseason appearance before his bases loaded heroics in the World Series.</p><p>Kershaw’s performance against the Blue Jays is all the more impressive given his career postseason stats. While the 37-year-old hurler is unquestionably one of the greatest pitchers of his generation, he owns a career 4.63 ERA and 1.146 WHIP in the postseason.</p><p>But Kershaw came up big for the Dodgers in Game 3. Colin is also a three-time NYSBA award winner and a proud graduate of Fordham University.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Los Angeles Dodgers</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/dodgers-news-freddie-freeman-glad-yoshinobu-yamamoto-complete-world-series">Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 on Saturday night</a> and tied the 2025 World Series at a game apiece following starting pitcher <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/dodgers-news-dave-roberts-declares-yoshinobu-yamamoto-30-40-more-pitches-game-2">Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s second straight complete game</a> gem.</p><p>The performance helped keep LA’s championship hopes alive after a brutal Game 1, and had future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw in awe of what the 27-year-old <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2025/10/26/yoshinobu-yamamoto-contract-dodgers-world-series-blue-jays/86911669007/" rel="noopener">has been able to do t</a>his postseason.</p><p>“I don’t think anybody could have predicted that,” Kershaw told Bob Nightengale of USA Today. “But you know, maybe it’s a sign of where baseball should, and will get back to. I think it’s always fun to have great starting pitching matchups, and to see him go deep into games, maybe this gives some people some ideas for the future, hopefully.”</p><p>Yamamoto surrendered only four hits and struck out eight batters in the pivotal Game 2 as he became the first pitcher since Curt Schilling of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001 to throw consecutive complete games in the postseason.</p><p>The All-Star kept Los Angeles in the game long enough for the lineup to eventually offer support. With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh, catcher Will Smith launched a solo home run off of Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman.</p><p>Moments later, third baseman Max Muncy would crank a home run of his own to make it a 3-1 ball game. The Dodgers would go on to add two more runs in the top of the eighth, and give Yamamoto enough space to seal the victory.</p><p>“The way Yosh is throwing right now and the way we’re built right now,” Kershaw said, “he could throw 150 pitches if he wants. …</p><p>“I just think the way he throws the baseball is like perfect. No wasted movement. So efficient. He came here with a fastball, curveball, split and now he’s throwing sinkers, cutters, sliders.
