The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/seattle-mariners/mariners-news-dan-wilson-hasnt-stopped-thinking-about-game-7-bullpen-decisions">Mariners will now look toward the offseason</a> and find ways to get better, including Bryce Miller. The starting pitcher was on the injured list several times this past season because of elbow inflammation, but he is <a href="https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/mariners-starting-pitchers-optimistic-about-healthy-offseason-after-injured-riddled-year/" rel="noopener">expected to avoid surgery</a>, according to Adam Jude of the Seattle Times.</p><p>“The season didn’t go, personally, anywhere near how I wanted it to,” Miller said. “But I finished the year the best I felt all year — three good starts, I felt like. My body and my arm feel good, so just get better, get fully healthy and be ready to go from Day 1 next year.”</p><p>Miller had a bone spur in his elbow and received a PRP injection in June. He has an appointment to determine what he’ll have to do as far as treatment, but it looks like he’ll have a gel cortisone injection this offseason, and then get another one at the start of spring training.</p><p>“Now that we know how to deal with the bone spur, we can figure out what we need to do exactly with it and go from there,” Miller said.</p><p>Miller slogged through the first two months of this season, which is when the bone spur was diagnosed. He had a breakout year last season, ranking among the American League leaders with a 2.94 ERA and 180.1 innings over 31 starts. This season, his ERA nearly doubled (5.68), and his innings (90.1) were cut.</p><p>He bounced back in the playoffs with three starts, as he posted a 1.88 ERA.</p><p>“It felt really good,” Miller said. “Just to end on a positive note, personally, is good after how up and down the year was for me.”</p><p>Hopefully, Miller can keep that level of play going into next season and he recovers well from his elbow injury.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

That anguish was echoed by manager Dan Wilson, who <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/seattle-mariners/mariners-news-dan-wilson-tough-ending-alcs">called the loss “tough to swallow”</a>.</p><p>Nevertheless, Mariners Vice President of Baseball Operations Jerry DiPoto <a href="https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/mariners-dan-wilson-jerry-dipoto-share-reasoning-for-costly-game-7-bullpen-decision/?utm_medium=Social&amp;utm_campaign=owned_echobox_tw_m&amp;utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1761248766" rel="noopener">is rallying</a> to Wilson’s defense, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. Also, it was thirty years after Wilson and company helped save baseball in Seattle.</p><p>In 1995, Wilson was the catcher for the Mariners when they made an improbable run to the ALCS. On Monday, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/seattle-mariners/mariners-news-fans-in-shambles-after-painful-alcs-game-7-collapse">Mariners lost Game 7 of the ALCS</a> 4-3 to the Toronto Blue Jays, bringing an end to a truly remarkable season.</p><p>Afterward, their star catcher, Cal Raleigh, was in tears reflecting upon the defeat. In the process, Raleigh <a href="https://www.si.com/mlb/julio-rodriguez-loud-scream-after-mariners-game-7-loss" rel="noopener">begrudgingly uttered</a> his least favorite word when describing the loss, per Andy Nesbitt of Sports Illustrated.</p><p>Ultimately, though he didn’t want to say it, he referred to the season as a failure.</p><p>“I’m super proud of these guys. It was a great team effort. I love every guy in this room but ultimately it’s not what we wanted,” Raleigh said when asked to sum up his team’s year. “I hate to use the word failure, but it’s a failure. We expected to get to the World Series and win the World Series and that’s what the bar is and what the standard is and it’s what we want to hold ourselves accountable to but yeah, it hurts. But I don’t want that to take away—like I said I’m proud of the guys in the room, I thought we fought all the way to the end and like I said I think it’s a great group of guys and I love every single one of them.”</p><p>At the same time, Mariners manager Dan Wilson <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/seattle-mariners/mariners-news-dan-wilson-tough-ending-alcs">referred to the defeat as “tough to swallow”</a>.</p><p>Seattle finished the year at 90-72 and made it to their first ALCS since 2001.</p><h2><b>Cal Raleigh didn’t fail as an individual</b></h2><p>As for Raleigh, he had one of his best seasons. They blew a 3-2 ALCS lead over the Toronto Blue Jays, with the Mariners relinquishing a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after George Springer, the former Houston Astros star, came back to haunt them once again, this time with a three-run home run that sent Rogers Centre into a frenzy.</p><p>As if everything that could have gone wrong for the Mariners did go wrong. They seemed to be hitting all the right buttons heading into that pivotal seventh inning, with <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/seattle-mariners/mariners-news-julio-rodriguez-joins-mickey-mantle-club-with-game-7-hr">Julio Rodriguez scoring the first two runs</a> of the ballgame and Cal Raleigh continuing his historic campaign with yet another home run to push their lead to 3-1.</p><p>But all that hard work was undone with one swing from Springer off of Eduard Bazardo, whom the Mariners chose to deploy at the highest-leverage situation instead of going to closer Andres Munoz immediately.</p><h2>Mariners fans lose it on social media</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Dan-Wilson.jpg"><figcaption>Steven Bisig-Imagn Images.</figcaption></figure><p>It did not help matters whatsoever for the Mariners that they seemed to lose the plot at the plate after Springer turned the momentum in the Blue Jays’ favor. Randy Arozarena grounded out on the first pitch, JP Crawford hit a weak ground ball towards shortstop, and Eugenio Suarez was a bit hard done by a breaking ball that just clipped the inside part of the zone.</p><p>In the ninth inning, Jeff Hoffman mowed the Mariners down, striking out the side — with Rodriguez flailing at a slider off the plate with the count full. All that’s left for the Mariners fanbase is to mourn everything that happened.</p><p>“That Bazardo move was next level idiot s**t. Like that’s not giving Marshawn the ball on the 1 levels, Dikembe on the floor levels.
