He studied journalism and communication at UConn.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">MLB</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>After troubles with injuries and a PED suspension earlier in his career, Fernando Tatis Jr. is once again one of the top young players in baseball, and he anticipates <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6280291/2025/04/15/world-baseball-classic-fernando-tatis-jr/?source=emp_shared_article" rel="noopener">making his World Baseball Classic debut</a> in 2026 with the Dominican Republic, even though it is not official at the moment.</p><p>“They haven’t made it official, but there’s really good talks out there,” Fernando Tatis Jr. said, via Dennis Lin of The Athletic. “It’s a matter of me staying healthy the rest of the season, putting everything that’s more important in front, and then we’ll see how that goes.”</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/san-diego-padres/padres-news-fernando-tatis-jr-expected-dodge-il-stint">Tatis did not participate</a> in 2023. He planned to play in 2023, but was deemed ineligible after his 80-game suspension. When it comes to what the World Baseball Classic means to Tatis, he said it is right behind winning a World Series.</p><p>“Man, it’s just behind winning a World Series,” Tatis said. “Representing my country, playing right next to my Dominican fellows is something that I cherish, something that I always wanted as a kid. Definitely looking forward to it.”</p><p>It would be a surprise if Tatis is left off of the Dominican Republic roster for the World Baseball Classic. His father, Fernando Tatis Sr., has been announced as the hitting coach for the team in 2026.</p><p>The Dominican Republic roster is always one of the most stacked rosters in the World Baseball Classic. Tatis would fit in well in the outfield, as he is a platinum glove right fielder. He would presumably join his Padres teammate, Manny Machado, who has been on the Dominican Republic roster in the past and is expected to participate once again.</p><p>It will be interesting to see what the Dominican Republic roster looks like come the start of the World Baseball Classic in 2026. However, the injury bug has hit them a little bit in recent days.</p><p>On Friday, the Padres got a good update on that front. Star outfielder <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/padres-news-padres-optimistic-injury-update-shoulder-fernando-tatis-jr">Fernando Tatis Jr. has been dealing with a shoulder injury</a>, but he confirmed to reporters on Friday that he <a href="https://x.com/973TheFanSD/status/1910810641386119352" rel="noopener">wasn’t expecting to go on the injured list</a>, via 93.7 The Fan.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">Fernando Tatis Jr. discussed how he's feeling physically, if he's feeling any pain in his shoulder and his reaction to Jake Cronenworth going on the IL: <a href="https://t.co/bNIiXdiI8X">pic.twitter.com/bNIiXdiI8X</a></p><p>— 97.3 The Fan (@973TheFanSD) <a href="https://twitter.com/973TheFanSD/status/1910810641386119352?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 11, 2025</a></p></blockquote><p><script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p></figure><p>“No, no, nothing like that,” Tatis said of the injury. “Like I said, everything is good and moving in the right steps.”</p><p>He also provided an update on how the injury itself is coming along, even as he prepares to play through it.</p><p>“No pain, just some uncomfortable movement,” Tatis said. “But then after that, everything is good and moving forward.”</p><p>Tatis was pulled from Tuesday’s loss to the Athletics with the injury after just two at-bats. He didn’t start on Wednesday, but his availability off the bench suggested that the injury wasn’t serious and that he would be back on the field soon.</p><p>Whether that return comes on Thursday night in the first game of a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies remains to be seen, but Tatis’ comments should be very encouraging for Padres fane nonetheless.</p><p>The Padres have enough injury issues going on after both<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/padres-news-jackson-merrill-placed-il-concerning-injury-update"> Jackson Merrill and Jake Croenenworth were placed on the injured list</a>. Losing Tatis as well would have been a big blow, so it’s a good thing that he is recovering quickly.</p><p>Tatis has been tearing it up this season and is a hit machine in the Padres lineup. He is 16-for-44 at the plate, good for a .364 average, with a pair of home runs and seven RBIs in 12 games. He has also drawn seven walks and has reached base more than 44% of the time, so there is no question that he is still one of the best bats in the league.</p><p>With this injury not holding him back, that should continue as the Padres make another push toward the playoffs.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The first seven games have gone exactly according to plan for a Padres team raring to redeem itself from the sting of their NLDS defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and star right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. couldn’t be more pleased with how well his team is playing.</p><p>Following the Padres’ sweep of the Guardians to remain unbeaten thus far in 2025, Tatis <a href="https://www.mlb.com/news/padres-secure-sweep-over-guardians-move-to-7-0?partnerID=mlbapp-iOS_article-share" rel="noopener">praised his team</a> for the excellent baseball they’ve been playing.</p><p>“It’s just been great baseball all the way around,” Tatis said, per AJ Cassavell of MLB.com.</p><p>It’s the first time in franchise history that the team began the season unbeaten through seven games, although the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/san-diego-padres/padres-news-mike-shildt-empty-admission-blowing-dodgers-nlds">Dodgers, being the ever-present thorn in their side</a>, have managed to match them stride for stride, going undefeated as well in their first eight contests. This is only the fifth time in the history of MLB where two teams have begun the season without a loss through at least seven games, and this is shaping up to be another bloodbath between two NL West powerhouses.</p><p>Tatis was very productive in the Padres’ 5-2 win over the Guardians. He had two hits in four at-bats and he ended up scoring one of his team’s runs. And for San Diego, this is a promising sign that they have kept in stride with their powerhouse division rival even though Los Angeles never seems to run out of resources.</p><p>It won’t be until mid-June, however, that the Padres and Dodgers face for the first time this season. But it is important to remember how much talent this roster still possesses. Star power beamed throughout Petco Park on Opening Day, as the Friars pulled out a hard-earned 7-4 win versus the Atlanta Braves.</p><p>Fernando Tatis Jr. will command much of the local headlines, following an outing in which he went 3-for-4 at the plate, stole two bases and scored two runs. Fans know what the two-time Silver Slugger and two-time All-Star can do to a baseball, but his speed is the most notable takeaway to come out of game No. 1.</p><p>He stole 25 and 29 bags in the 2021 and 2023 campaigns, respectively, but recorded just 11 in 102 games last year. He is feeling healthy and spry to begin 2025, however, which means MLB might witness the electric 26-year-old’s full powers. A stress reaction in his right thighbone cost Tatis more than two months of action and hampered him throughout the year.</p><p>He <a href="https://x.com/annieheilbrunn/status/1905417312888651971" rel="noopener">spoke on using his legs</a> more after spending a significant amount of time on the injured list in 2024. “I really missed it, you know,” Tatis said after the victory, per The San Diego Union-Tribune’s Annie Heilbrunn. “And really happy where I’m at, and happy I’m capable of doing it again. … I mean, last year I was standing on one leg.”</p><h2><b>Padres were at full force vs. Braves</b></h2><p>If the 2023 Platinum Gold Glove winner can stay aggressive on the basepaths, he will have a great chance to show why he was once tabbed as a future MVP. Of course, Fernando Tatis Jr. is hardly the only big-time performer in the Padres’ lineup. Manny Machado had a two-steal and multi-hit showing himself, while National League Rookie of the Year runner-up Jackson Merrill recorded four RBIs.</p><p>San Diego put together a successful outing against reigning Cy Young Chris Sale, erupted for a game-breaking, four-run seventh inning and hung on for an Opening Day triumph after the bullpen did not allow a single Braves’ hit in the final four innings of play. The Reggaeton star will now be <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/mlb-rumors-padres-fernando-tatis-grabs-attention-with-potential-bad-bunny-decision" rel="noopener">working alongside San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr.</a> through the musician’s BB’s Rimas group New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports. Tatis Jr. will be handling the <a href="https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/1896975190543974403" rel="noopener">athlete’s branding and marketing.</a></p><p>In 2023, the musician launched his own sports management venture called Rimas Sports, in partnership with Rimas Entertainment execs Noah Assad and Jonathan Miranda. Rimas said it will oversee <a href="https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44107325/fernando-tatis-jr-enters-management-deal-bad-bunny-agency" rel="noopener">marketing, brand relations, and other services</a>, working to “expand his portfolio as an athlete, businessman and philanthropist” according to ESPN.</p><p>Throughout his career,<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/wwe/wwe-news-bad-bunny-celebrity-wrestler-claim" rel="noopener"> Bad Bunny has been a huge supporter of sports</a> so much to the fact that he has even participated in several appearances himself. The Reggaeton star appeared in WWE several times including at WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and Backlash.</p><p>He’s even made several references to sports in his music (translated from Spanish), “Never made a goal, but I have Cristianos (Cristiano Rolando) praying to Messi,” he sings on “Tu No Vive Asi.”</p><p>On “Teléfono Nuevo” he sings (translated from Spanish), “Like Kobe in the Square Garden, I’ll put 61 on you, may god take care of you.”</p><p>Bad Bunny is referencing the legendary 2009 game when the late Kobe Bryant scored 61 points against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. The album is a love letter to his native Puerto Rico.</p><p>“This project is dedicated to Puerto Ricans all around the world,” the back of the album reads.  A stamp that reads“From Puerto Rico to the world” is also found on the album artwork.</p><p>On the 17-track album he talks about the political climate of Puerto Rico and sonically combines plena, salsa, bomba, and reggaeton.  “At the peak of my career and popularity, I want to show the world who I am, who Benito Antonio is, and who Puerto Rico is,” he said in a press release.</p><p>Bad Bunny announced his tour, No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí, that will be taking place in Puerto Rico shortly after the album release.
