While the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/brewers-news-pitching-roster-moves-amid-playoff-push">Brewers are gunning for a playoff push</a>, Chourio’s return would no doubt give the team a big boost.</p><p>After being placed on the 10-day injured list due to the hamstring issue, he will now be<a href="https://x.com/AdamMcCalvy/status/1961813334790914264" rel="noopener"> “reinstated”</a> and back in the ball club after making some rehab starts, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.</p><p>“Jackson Chourio is back. OF Jackson Chourio reinstated from the 10-day injured list,” McCalvy wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “OF Brandon Lockridge optioned to Triple-A Nashville. LHP Robert Gasser [was] reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Nashville. INF Oliver Dunn designated for assignment.”</p><p>This season, Chourio has a .276 batting average to go along with 17 home runs, 67 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases as the 21-year-old is in the second year of his young career. Because he’s never been hurt. So I think we have a lot of that going on. He’s not going to all of a sudden regress [in] hitting. He has to see pitches. Milwaukee has gone just 3-6 following a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/brewers-news-christian-yelichs-message-to-brewers-after-reds-snapped-streak">franchise-record 14-game winning streak</a>. And after Sunday’s loss to the San Francisco Giants, the Brewers have dropped back-to-back series for the first time since early June.</p><p>The mini slump is no cause for panic. The Brewers still own the best record in baseball. But the team would certainly like to get Jackson Chourio back in the lineup. Unfortunately, the Brewers will have to <a href="https://x.com/AdamMcCalvy/status/1960083372002197796" rel="noopener">wait a bit longer</a> for the standout center fielder’s return.</p><p>Manager Pat Murphy confirmed that Chourio will remain with the team’s Triple-A affiliate in Nashville for a few more days, per MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy. Chourio was “tentative” while running the bases on a double in a rehab start Sunday.</p><h2><b>Brewers await Jackson Chourio’s return from IL</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Jackson-Chourio-2.jpg"><figcaption>Michael McLoone-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The second-year pro was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/brewers-news-jackson-chourio-exits-cubs-game-injury">forced to leave a game against the Cubs</a> on July 29 with a hamstring strain. Chourio hit a ball off the wall in right field and appeared to suffer the injury after rounding second. He slowed down as he reached third base for a standup triple. However, he was immediately checked on by Milwaukee’s training staff and removed from the game.</p><p>Two days later, the Brewers placed <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/brewers-news-milwaukee-places-jackson-chourio-on-il-before-nationals-clash">Chourio on the 10-day IL</a> retroactive to July 30. While he initially downplayed the injury, the team anticipated a 2-4 week absence.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/brewers-news-impactful-milwaukee-injury-update-jackson-chourio-cubs-clash">Chourio was cleared for a rehab assignment</a> beginning last week. Assuming he didn’t suffer a setback on Sunday, he should be able to return to the Brewers’ lineup by the end of the month.</p><p>Blake Perkins replaced Chourio in center field after the injury. The third-year outfielder has impressed at times in his new role. He had a two-homer game in his second start following Chourio’s injury. And <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/brewers-news-pat-murphy-magical-label-insane-hot-streak">Perkins delivered a walk-off outfield assist</a> against the Mets, extending the Brewers’ winning streak.</p><p>However, he’s slashing .221/.293/.397 with three home runs, seven RBI and 17 runs scored in 19 games with Chourio sidelined. Milwaukee has thrived on lesser-known players stepping up during what’s become a memorable season. Former All-Star outfielder Jackson Chourio has led the way, alongside Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, and others. However, Brewers manager Dan Wilson has to get creative now that he is without his center fielder for a long stretch. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/brewers-news-jackson-chourio-injury-update-cubs">Chourio’s lower leg injury will have him sidelined</a> for weeks.</p><p>The former All-Star injured his leg while running out a triple against the Chicago Cubs. Wilson and the rest of the coaching staff helped him get off the field an into a clubhouse. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/brewers-news-milwaukee-places-jackson-chourio-on-il-before-nationals-clash">Unfortunately for Milwaukee, the outfielder’s diagnosis was a hamstring injury, one that puts him on the injured list</a>. Now, Wilson turns to Blake Perkins to take Chourio’s spot in the outfield.</p><p>Yelich also has experience at center field and could step in if needed. With Frelick also dealing with a nagging injury, Milwaukee’s outfield just go much thinner. According to MLB.com writer Adam McCalvy, Chourio could be out for <a href="https://x.com/AdamMcCalvy/status/1952817933916467661" rel="noopener">as long as a month</a>.</p><p>“Update from the Brewers on OF Jackson Chourio: His right hamstring strain is improving with treatment. Estimated timeline to return is 2-4 weeks,” McCalvy said.</p><p>Even though Chourio has not been the best version of himself this season, the Brewers have excelled. Milwaukee surpassed the Cubs in the National League Central and remain in the driver’s seat in their division. Wilson is under pressure to keep his team rolling without their star.</p><p>Luckily for them, the Brewers have found success via committee this season. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/brewers-news-william-contreras-milwaukee-best-mark-nationals">William Contreras has emerged as a focal point of Milwaukee’s offense</a> during their latest hot stretch. With the added motivation of Chourio’s absence, no team is better suited to play without their superstar than the Brewers are. However, the Brew Crew will have to try and do it without outfielder Jackson Chourio. During Wednesday’s loss to the Chicago Cubs, Chourio <a href="https://x.com/AdamMcCalvy/status/1951342351437434898" rel="noopener">strained his right hamstring,</a> and will now go on the 10-day IL according to Brewers beat reporter Adam McCalvy on X (formerly Twitter.)</p><p>“The Brewers have placed Jackson Chourio on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring, retroactive to July 30, and added newly-acquired OF Brandon Lockridge to the active roster,” posted McCalvy on Friday.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/padres-news-padres-acquire-nestor-cortes-in-trade-with-brewers">Lockridge was acquired</a> in a deal that sent starter Nestor Cortes Jr. and prospect Jorge Quintana to the San Diego Padres. Now, it looks like he’ll take over Chourio’s spot at the moment. The 28-year-old has played in 47 games with the Padres this season, hitting .216 with no runs, five RBIs and eight stolen bases. His speed could help him carve out a role while Chourio is out.
