They are looking to get back to competing and hope their group of top prospects can help usher in a new era of winning baseball at Fenway Park.</p><p>Among this group is outfielder Roman Anthony, who <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6194679/2025/03/12/roman-anthony-red-sox-mlb-top-prospect/" rel="noopener">hopes to learn from the struggles</a> of Baltimore Orioles’ infielder Jackson Holliday, whose rookie season was an emotional roller coaster.</p><p>“He was so good in the minor leagues and never really struggled, and people were like, wait, why is he struggling?” Anthony said via The Athletic. “This is a failure game, right? So, (Holliday’s experience is) really just putting things into perspective and not having expectations for myself.”</p><p>Anthony has faced adversity before in his baseball career, but he has not had to go through struggles in front of the Boston crowd yet.</p><p>“I’ve struggled before,” Anthony said. “Obviously, I don’t know what Boston’s like. I haven’t struggled up there. I know it’s going to be different than struggling in Portland. But it’s something that they do a good job here of kind of giving you a heads-up and (preparing you for).”</p><p>Anthony is expected to make his Major League debut in 2025. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/red-sox-news-brayan-bello-injury-update-2025-season">Red Sox are hoping to avoid injuries</a> and have the best season possible in 2025.</p><h2>Red Sox’s Lucas Giolito opens up on injury</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/unnamed-4.jpg"><figcaption>Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>After being inactive for the 2024 season, pitcher Lucas Giolito is expected to be a part of the Boston Red Sox’s rotation this season. Those plans might be delayed, however, as Giolito is now fighting another injury.</p><p>Giolito <a href="https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2025/03/red-sox-lucas-giolito-waited-year-to-return-from-injury-hurt-on-1st-pitch.html" rel="noopener">experienced a hamstring injury</a> which should be nothing more than a minor setback.</p><p>“I’ve pulled my hamstring in my career a few times and it feels very minor,” said Giolito via MassLive. “That’s what (the training staff) is saying based on the initial testing. It’s just an annoying little setback, I guess.”</p><p>Although it is frustrating, Giolito is focusing on keeping a positive mindset while attempting to return as quickly as possible.</p><p>“You can’t have that attitude,” Giolito said. “It is what it is. Things happen, injuries happen. I wouldn’t even categorize this as an injury, really, at this point. It just felt like it got tight on me. One key player for this ball club is youngster Jackson Holliday, who started to improve towards the end of the season.</p><p>Holliday is undoubtedly a five-tool player but he’s trying to become even more well-rounded in spring training, adding bunting to his repertoire as the team <a href="https://www.masnsports.com/blog/holliday-taking-footnotes-from-roberts-on-playing-second-base" rel="noopener">has encouraged him to</a>:</p><p>Via MASN Sports:</p><p>“I’ve been working on it,” Holliday said. “Not in games, but hopefully soon.”</p><p>The Orioles infielder is quick on his feet as well. Becoming a player who could drop one down for an infield hit would be a great asset to have along with his ability to hit for power and average. Last year, Holliday slashed .189 with five homers in 190 at-bats <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/orioles-news-jackson-holliday-makes-epic-franchise-history-amid-hot-streak">but showed flashes of brilliance in August and September.</a></p><p>He’s also had to adjust to playing second base, which proved to be difficult last spring. But, Holliday has become more comfortable at the position heading into ’25:</p><p>“He just had an offseason to get ready for that last year, and it was a lot to learn when you change positions,” manager Brandon Hyde said. “To have a full year and another offseason, he feels a lot more comfortable.”</p><p>“I think being just crisp and sharp,” said Holliday, who made 52 starts at second. “I know me personally, watching the league, everything is so clean and direct. So that’s something that I’ve been working on, and obviously, just being as fast as possible on double-play feeds. Just trying to get the ball to [shortstop] Gunnar [Henderson] as quick as possible and let him do his thing.”</p><p>The Orioles will be relying on Holliday in several ways this season, and if he can become a threat as a bunter as well, it will only make him better overall.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

So just adjustments, you can tell he’s more comfortable now and he’s not trying to impress as much. However, the Orioles already have a ton of young offensive talent on their roster.</p><p>One of those players comes in the form of second baseman Jackson Holliday. He went through a slow start during his first taste of major league action. Regardless, as Holliday prepares for the 2025 campaign, General Manager Mike Elias is <a href="https://x.com/MLBNetwork/status/1866681814045397097" rel="noopener">confident of a major breakthrough</a>, via MLB Network.</p><p>“He’s a guy that we’re counting on,: Elias said. “He’s somebody who got called into duty in the second half. We had a lot of injuries. He was thrust into an everyday role in the playoff race, at a very young age.”</p><p>“One of the brightest young talents in the sport. He’s going to be a really special hitter. He’s somebody that we’re looking to take a big leap this year, now that he’s seen what the big leagues are all about,” Elias continued. “He’s gone through some struggles like every player this day and age. But this guy is a really exciting, prodigious, special young hitter. He’s going to have a great career.”</p><p>Holliday hit just .059 over his first 10 games in the major leagues, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/orioles-news-baltimore-demotes-jackson-holliday-horrid-start-mlb-career">getting demoted back to the minors</a> in late April. However, when the injuries started piling, the infielder got a second chance. Over 60 total games, Holliday hit .189 with five home runs, 23 RBI and four stolen bases.</p><p>But in wasn’t long ago that Jackson Holliday was considered one of the best prospects in baseball. He was <a href="https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/top100/" rel="noopener">ranked No. 12 overall</a> by MLB Pipeline in 2023. Over his 218 games at the minor league level, Holliday has hit .304 with 23 home runs, 122 RBI and 36 stolen bases.</p><p>After back-to-back playoff appearances, Baltimore is intent on proving they can go on a deep run. If Holliday’s potential came to fruition, the Orioles would be in much better shape.
