The two-time Cy Young winner was dealing for Texas, as he pitched seven scoreless innings, taking a no-hit bid into the eighth frame, during a 7-0 victory over the Orioles.</p><p>Baltimore outfielder Colton Cowser ended deGrom’s dream for a no-hitter in the contest when he had a single off a fastball from the 37-year-old Texas ace in the eighth inning. DeGrom’s night ended following Cowser’s hit, as he was replaced on the hill by reliever Jacob Webb, who, along with Cole Winn, finished the job for the Rangers’ bullpen.</p><p>DeGrom did not hide his <a href="https://www.mlb.com/news/jacob-degrom-takes-no-hitter-into-eighth-in-win-over-orioles" rel="noopener">thoughts on losing a chance</a> to complete a no-hitter.</p><p>“I even stood over there and said to [Cowser], like, ‘Dang it, I wanted that,’” deGrom said after the game (h/t Paige Leckie of MLB.com). “But it’s — they’re Major League hitters, too. So I threw a fastball — I think it was a fastball, I asked when I came in. Think I kind of blacked out, but I was like, ‘What did I throw there?’ And it was a fastball, and he got to it.”</p><p>Cowser had given Jacob deGrom some trouble in the previous two matchups in the game, as he battled the four-time All-Star for five pitches before striking out in the second inning. DeGrom retired Cowser again, but not before the latter made contact for a groundout. A perfect game was also going for deGrom until Jackson Holliday drew a walk in the sixth inning.</p><p>DeGrom may have lost a no-hitter against Baltimore, but he managed to set a new franchise record. He now has 13 consecutive starts of tossing for at least five innings and allowing no more than two runs, the longest such streak ever in the history of the Rangers and Washington Senators.</p><p>So far in the 2025 MLB regular season, deGrom has an 8-2 record, a 2.08 ERA, and 0.88 WHIP through 16 starts.</p><p>Texas, meanwhile, improves to 40-41 after <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-bruce-bochy-gushes-about-terrific-jacob-latz-after-no-hit-bid">winning the Orioles series with two victories</a>, and will look to get back to .500 when the Rangers start a three-game series this coming Friday against the visiting Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field in Arlington.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Skenes gave up four hits and four runs while striking out four and walking two.</p><p>The start that Misiorowski has gotten off to is quite remarkable. He has now pitched in three games for the Brewers, and he has gotten the win in all three of those starts. He has pitched 16 innings, and he has given up just three hits and two runs. He has struck out 19 batters and walked seven. Misiorowski has a 1.13 ERA and a .63 WHIP. He’s only three games in, but the fact that he has immediately dominated three teams to start his MLB career is incredibly impressive.</p><p>Milwaukee is feeling great about the new addition to the team, and they are feeling good as they close the gap on the first place Chicago Cubs. The Brewers are going to be just 2.5 games back of the Cubs after Chicago finishes off their Wednesday night victory. The Brewers are right in the thick of the NL Central race.</p><p>The Brewers will look to continue their winning ways on Thursday as they begin a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies, the worst team in baseball. The two teams will get underway at 7:10 CT from American Family Field in Milwaukee. Luckily for him, deGrom was just as dominant as ever against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.</p><p>deGrom left the game after Colton Cowser broke up his no-hitter in the eighth inning. Even though Texas was the road team, Orioles fans in attendance realized just how great his performance was. After Cowser knocked him out of the game, he had a 7-0 lead. Bochy’s relievers came in and completed the shutout, giving deGrom his eighth win of the season.</p><p>Across the full game, Cowser’s single was the only hit the Orioles got on Wednesday. Despite <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/baltimore-orioles/orioles-news-gunnar-henderson-makes-baltimores-playoff-hopes-clear">Gunnar Henderson claiming that a turnaround is inevitable for Baltimore</a>, deGrom was not having it.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-gem-pirates-bruce-bochy-fanboying">Bochy has been impressed by deGrom all season</a>. The 12-year veteran is well on his way to his fifth All-Star appearance. If he can stay on the mound throughout the rest of the season, he could even push Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal for the AL Cy Young Award.</p><p>Fans of one team rarely cheer for an opposing player. The fact that Orioles fans showed such respect to deGrom is a good example of how the rest of the league views him. He has had a passion for sports his entire life, and enjoys covering and writing about all sports.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">MLB</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Texas Rangers ace <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-dominant-streak-continues-win-nationals">Jacob deGrom has been one of the best pitchers</a> in baseball for many years when he is healthy, but injury problems have kept him off the mound for a large chunk of the past few seasons. whether it has been with the Rangers or the New York Mets, deGrom’s body has limited the impact that he can have on his team.</p><p>Thankfully, that has not been the case this season. The two-time former Cy Young winner has been healthy all year and has delivered elite outing after elite outing on the mound for Texas, and that was no different on Friday night.</p><p>The star right-hander went six innings for Bruce Bochy and company in a 6-2 win over he Pittsburgh Pirates, notching seven strikeouts while giving up five hits, a walk and a pair of earned runs.</p><p>After the game, Bochy was <a href="https://www.mlb.com/news/jacob-degrom-logs-quality-start-in-rangers-win-over-pirates" rel="noopener">left to do nothing</a> but appreciate deGrom’s greatness after yet another strong outing, via Kennedi Landry of MLB.com.</p><p>“It’s been great [watching him],” Bochy said. “I’ve always said this, and I appreciate his talent. I’m a fan. I love watching him, so to have him back healthy and watching what he’s doing, it’s cool. For him to be pitching without being in pain, I’m excited for him, because he went through a lot before the surgery. It’s just good to see a healthy guy that’s one of the best ever in the game.”</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-best-hitter-aaron-judge-epic-duel">deGrom’s latest gem adds on</a> to what has been a phenomenal season from him. Now, in 15 starts, he has a 7-2 record for a Rangers squad that has struggled somewhat when he has not been on the mound. Coming into this win against the Pirates, he had a spectacular 2.19 ERA in 82.1 innings pitched with 80 strikeouts and just 17 walks.</p><p>deGrom’s 15 starts are the most he’s made since 2021, and he started just nine games over the past two seasons combined. He has not played a full season since back in 2019 for the Mets when he won his second Cy Young.</p><p>Now, he is back to his best again.</p><p>“I can’t say better than expected, because I expected Jacob to do what he’s been doing his whole career,” Bochy added after the game, per Landry. “Now he’s doing what I saw a lot from the other side. This is what he can do when he’s healthy. … The consistency is remarkable. He’s so gifted at putting the ball where he wants. I’m a fan. I appreciate these players — their gifts and talents — but especially him and what he can do.”</p><p>If deGrom can keep up this level of production, the rest of the American League will be hoping that they don’t have to see him in the playoffs.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

And the two-time Cy Young Award winner has quietly worked his way back into <a href="https://x.com/MLB/status/1931473904176156901" rel="noopener">elite form</a>.</p><p>Following his excellent outing against the Washington Nationals Saturday, deGrom has now “allowed 2 runs or fewer in each of his last 10 starts,” according to MLB on X.</p><p>Now fully healthy, deGrom has captured Rangers fans’ imagination with <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-fans-buzzing-vintage-performance-vs-astros">vintage performances this season</a>. However, his gem against the Nationals was easily his best start of the campaign. The 12th-year veteran allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings against Washington. deGrom didn’t give up a walk in the contest and struck out eight batters.</p><h2><b>Jacob deGrom continues hot start to season for Rangers</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Jacob-deGrom-2-1.jpg"><figcaption>Tim Heitman-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>It’s been a long road back for the pitcher. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-texas-inks-mets-ace-jacob-degrom-to-massive-5-year-185-million-deal">DeGrom signed a five-year, $185 million contract</a> with the Rangers prior to the 2023 season. But by early June that year he required season-ending surgery. He would miss the Rangers’ surprise World Series championship with the injury.</p><p>Over his first two seasons with the Rangers, deGrom started just nine games. He was, however, able to return to the team late in 2024, giving fans hope that deGrom would be at full strength this year. So far, he’s exceeded expectations.</p><p>DeGrom is now 6-2 with a 2.12 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 8.6 K/9 and 162 ERA+ in 12 starts for the Rangers this season. He <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-mlb-history-jorge-polanco-strikeout">hit a major MLB milestone</a> in May when he reached 1,700 career strikeouts. DeGrom became the fastest pitcher in baseball history to accomplish the feat, doing so in just 225 games.</p><p>While deGrom has been exceptional this year, the Rangers have struggled. Texas had dropped four straight games before deGrom’s gem against the Nationals. The team has lost 14 of the last 20 games, falling to 30-35 on the season and fourth place in the AL West.</p><p>While the Rangers were hoping to bounce back in 2025 after failing to reach the playoffs following their title in 2023, it’s not looking good. The team’s poor start has led to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-jacob-degrom-trade-idea-draws-mlb-network-reaction">trade rumors surrounding deGrom</a>. With more than half the season remaining, it’s unclear how the Rangers will handle the four-time All-Star. And given deGrom’s injury history, it’s unknown what Texas might receive in a trade, despite his excellent start this year.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
