Reds right fielder Nick Castellanos was at the very thick of an all-out melee between the two sides which could have easily gone ugly.</p><p>Here’s a look at the incident in question (h/t <a href="https://twitter.com/BallySportsCIN/status/1378464080445505540">Bally Sports Cincinnati</a> on Twitter):</p><figure class="op-interactive"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">The Reds' and Cardinals' dugouts have emptied after Nick Castellanos scores on a wild pitch. <a href="https://t.co/M8sSctUjbo" target="_blank">pic.twitter.com/M8sSctUjbo</a></p><p>— Bally Sports Cincinnati (@BallySportsCIN) <a href="https://twitter.com/BallySportsCIN/status/1378464080445505540?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" target="_blank">April 3, 2021</a></p></blockquote><p></p></figure><p>In an earlier play, Castellanos, who signed a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/reds-news-nicholas-castellanos-to-cincinnati-4-year-64-million-deal/">four-year deal worth $65 million</a> with the Reds last year, was hit by a pitch by Cardinals rookie pitcher Jake Woodford. Castellanos was then able to score on an ensuing play after Woodford threw a wild pitch that catcher Yadier Molina was unable to secure.</p><p>Upon landing on home plate, Castellanos made sure to rub in the error by screaming right in the face of Woodford. Both Molina and Woodford took exception to Castellanos’ excessive and disrespectful celebration and decided to confront the Reds star in a not-so-calm manner. This resulted in a bench-clearing melee between the two teams which put the proceedings on hold for a good five minutes or so.</p><p>It appears that no punches were thrown and that cooler heads eventually prevailed. In the end, these were just players on both teams blowing off a bit of steam in what was a heated division rivalry game.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
