As the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rangers-news-why-corey-seager-could-upset-shohei-ohtani-al-mvp-chris-rose" rel="noopener">Rangers look to clinch</a> their spot in the playoffs, they’ll be adding plenty of power back into their lineup.</p><p>Both Josh Jung and Adolis Garcia <a href="https://www.mlb.com/news/rangers-injuries-and-roster-moves" rel="noopener">were activated</a> from the injured list, per MLB’s transaction page. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rangers-news-bruce-bochy-hopeful-injury-updates-adolis-garcia-josh-jung" rel="noopener">Jung had been dealing</a> with a left thumb fracture while Garcia had a right patellar tendon sprain. Both players were able to take batting practice earlier in the day on Monday and are ready to make their grand return to the Rangers.</p><p>Jung had been having an electric rookie season before suffering his injury. On the way to an All-Star nomination, Jung hit .274 with 22 home runs and 67 RBI. After a brief cup of coffee with the Rangers last season, Jung has fully supplanted himself as Texas’ third baseman of the present and future.</p><p>Garcia earned his second All-Star appearance after reaching the Midsummer Classic for the first time back in 2021. This time around, Garcia hit .244 with 34 home runs and 100 RBI. The outfielder has already surpassed his career-high in home runs and is just one RBI from breaking his career-best.</p><p>The Rangers have dealt with numerous injuries this season and have still found a way to put themselves in the playoff hunt. Finally, some injury news has broke Texas’ way. Now, they are peaking at the perfect moment after just sweeping the Toronto Blue Jays in a pivotal four-game series. And <a href="https://twitter.com/JaredSandler/status/1702453421008179561?s=20" rel="noopener">help is on the way</a>.</p><p>“According to Bruce Bochy, the hope is that Josh Jung joins the team Monday when they return home to host Boston,” Jared Sandler of 105.3 The Fan and Bally Sports reported Tuesday. “Adolis Garcia is a possibility for next weekend against Seattle.”</p><p>Texas has battled a plethora of key injuries since the All-Star break, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rangers-news-texas-players-get-painfully-honest-on-crushing-max-scherzer-injury" rel="noopener">none more brutal</a> than Max Scherzer’s regular season-ending shoulder injury. A surefire postseason berth is now mired in uncertainty, with just two weeks left to go until October.</p><p>Somehow, the team has survived a depleted starting rotation thus far, but <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rangers-news-why-texas-will-still-make-playoffs-max-scherzer-injury" rel="noopener">if it’s going to overcome</a> this concerning lack of depth, the offense will need to be at full strength. Slugger Adolis Garcia has been nursing a knee injury for the last week, while third baseman Josh Jung was placed on the injured list with a fracture in his thumb on Aug. 7.</p><p>Getting Jung back for the start of next week would be huge. The 25-year-old was a strong candidate for AL Rookie of the Year before getting hurt. He adds even more power to manager Bruce Bochy’s robust lineup (batting .274 with 22 home runs).</p><p>Garcia has had a rough second half of the 2023 MLB season but is still on his way to a career year (34 homers, 100 RBIs). He can change the trajectory of a game with one swing. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Friday that Jung could <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2023/09/08/rangers-third-baseman-josh-jung-could-return-by-end-of-upcoming-road-trip/" rel="noopener">return to the lineup</a> as soon as the end of next week, according to Evan Grant. This is big news for the Rangers, who are rapidly sliding out of the playoff picture.</p><p>Josh Jung has missed over a month with a broken thumb, but he took swings off the tee for the first time on Friday. He said the session went well and he felt no pain in his thumb. There is still some numbness in his hand, but that’s nothing unusual.</p><p>“I didn’t feel anything, but it’s also still numb,” Jung said. “It was just a little weird. All my attention was on my hand instead of on my swing.”</p><p>Jung won’t face live pitching until he receives full medical clearance. The Rangers expect that to happen next week while the team is in Toronto for a four-game series with the Blue Jays. Once cleared, Jung likely won’t participate in a minor league rehab assignment. There’s no time for that, and Corey Seager and Jonah Heim skipped the minors as well. If cleared next week, Jung could play in Cleveland by September 15.</p><p>The Rangers are 10-17 since Jung’s injury and are averaging just 4.2 runs per game. That’s a big step back from the 5.4 they’ve averaged on the season. The bottom half of the lineup struggled tremendously in August, with Leody Taveras and Ezequiel Duran contributing virtually nothing.</p><p>Worse, the Rangers bullpen struggles are at <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/astros-news-jose-altuve-reacts-to-historic-home-run-barrage" rel="noopener">an all-time high</a>, and the rotation, which has been solid most of the year, is out of rhythm as well. Vibes are bad in the Rangers clubhouse as their late-season struggles continue. For the first time this season, they are outside of the playoff picture, trailing the Blue Jays by half a game for the third AL Wild Card spot.</p><p>Now, All-Star <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rangers-news-adolis-garcia-injury-gets-latest-update-after-scary-outfield-situation-during-loss-to-astros" rel="noopener">outfielder Adolis Garcia is on</a> the 10-day IL. He studied journalism and communication at UConn.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">MLB</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung recently fractured his thumb, and now it has been reported that he <a href="https://twitter.com/Evan_P_Grant/status/1688696532894441472?s=20" rel="noopener">will have surgery</a> to stabilize the fracture and that he is expected to be out for six weeks, according to Evan Grand of the Dallas Morning News.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rangers-news-josh-jung-devastating-injury-updat-all-star-season" rel="noopener">Josh Jung</a> was having a very successful season before he fractured his thumb. He was firmly a contender to win the rookie of the year award in the American League, and has been a big part of why the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rangers-news-texas-major-martin-perez-decision-max-scherzer-jordan-montgomery-trades" rel="noopener">Rangers</a> are on top in the American League West.</p><p>With Jung being out for six weeks, that means he will likely be able to return to the Rangers for the last couple of weeks of the season. Given that it would be late in the year, it would make sense that he does not do a rehab assignment, as minor league seasons will be wrapping up right around then in mid-to-late September.</p><p>The Rangers are currently 2.5 games ahead of the Houston Astros in the American League West division. They had the lead by a wider margin early on in the season, but the Astros have close the gap since then. Despite the Astros making a run for the division, the Rangers have been able to maintain first place.</p><p>Texas is all in to try to win this season. They added significant pieces at the trade deadline and throughout the season. They added Max Scherzer and Jordan Montgomery to their rotation. The expectation is to win and compete in October.</p><p>It will be interesting to see how the Rangers compete without Jung, and the type of impact Max Scherzer and Jordan Montgomery make down the stretch.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Right now, the Rangers are 66-46 and 2.5 games ahead of the Houston Astros for first place in the AL West. It’s been a great year, but some <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/rangers-news-josh-jung-devastating-injury-updat-all-star-season" rel="noopener">bad news came the Rangers</a> way recently went Josh Jung went down with a thumb injury. Texas has made an intriguing roster move in light of the Jung situation.</p><p>Top prospect Jonathon Ornelas has been called up from Triple-A Round Rock to <a href="https://twitter.com/TXRangersPR/status/1688671505880854529" rel="noopener">make his MLB debut</a> with the absence of Jung, according to a tweet from Texas Rangers PR. Jung has been placed on the 10-day injured list and Ornelas will be taking his place in the lineup for the time being.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb-odds-rangers-josh-jung-top-al-roy-odds-leaderboard" rel="noopener">Josh Jung has had a</a> very impressive year before going down with injury. He is batting .274 with 22 home runs and 67 RBIs. He also has a .990 fielding percentage on third base and has made just three errors on the season. His high level of play earned him a trip to the All-Star game, and he is in the hunt for AL Rookie of the Year. It is certainly devastating for Rangers fans to see him go down, and hopefully he can make a speedy recovery.</p><p>Fans should be excited to see Jonathon Ornelas make his MLB debut, however. He is hitting .250 on the season and has primarily played shortstop in the field, where he was fielding percentage of .972. He is an exciting player who should have a good MLB career.</p><p>Rangers fans are definitely hoping that Jung’s injury resolves quickly. Texas has been one of the best teams in baseball this year and is poised for a good playoff run.
