Veteran ace <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-dominant-streak-continues-win-nationals">Jacob deGrom has returned to his dominant form</a>, leading the majors with 5 quality starts in June. But the Rangers have been without their best pitcher as Nathan Eovaldi has been sidelined by injury. That is, <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/rangers-nathan-eovaldi-set-to-return-friday/">until now</a>.</p><p>Eovaldi is set to return from the 15-day injured list and is scheduled to start Friday’s game against the Seattle Mariners, according to CBS Sports. He’ll face Seattle ace Logan Gilbert at Globe Life Field.</p><h2><b>Nathan Eovaldi to rejoin strong Rangers rotation</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Nathan-Eovaldi.jpg"><figcaption>Frank Bowen IV/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The 14th-year veteran last pitched on May 27, when he was forced to exit the game after two innings due to right triceps inflammation. The Rangers believed <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-nathan-eovaldi-avoids-il-rotation-update">Eovaldi could avoid the injured list</a> with extra rest. However, the team ultimately placed him on the 15-day IL and he would be sidelined for a month with the triceps ailment.</p><p>Eovaldi had put together a Cy Young-caliber season before suffering the injury. He posted a 1.56 ERA, 0.808 WHIP, 9.5 K/9 and a 239 ERA+ in 12 starts for the Rangers. Now the two-time All-Star hopes to pick up where he left off when he rejoins the rotation Friday.</p><p>The Rangers elected to bring Eovaldi back without sending the starter on a rehab assignment in the minors. The 35-year-old righty threw simulated innings at batting practice and proved ready for a return.</p><p>In his stead, deGrom took over as the team’s ace. Through five June starts, the two-time Cy Young-winner went 4-0 with a 1.41 ERA, an MLB-best 0.72 WHIP and 32 strikeouts in 32 innings. In his most recent outing against the Orioles, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-orioles-fans-applaud-jacob-degrom-near-no-hitter">deGrom came close to a no-hitter</a>, taking the bid into the eighth inning.</p><p>The previous game featured converted reliever Jacob Latz in a spot start. And <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-bruce-bochy-gushes-about-terrific-jacob-latz-after-no-hit-bid">Latz took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning</a>. The Rangers hope the addition of Eovaldi creates an elite rotation as the team prepares for a second-half surge.</p><p>Still, despite the strong pitching performances, Texas has been streaky in June. After starting the month off with a four-game losing streak, the team turned things around by winning seven of the next eight games. But Texas is just 4-5 over the last nine contests.</p><p>Eovaldi returns to a sub .500 team as the Rangers are 40-41. There have been several unique trends that have <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/rangers-news-texas-pitcher-cody-bradford-injury">not helped the Rangers</a>, but one of the more perplexing ones involves their own ballpark, Globe Life Field.</p><p>In baseball, ballparks are typically referred to as either a hitter’s park, or a pitcher’s park. In past years, Globe Life Field was typically regarded as a more batter-friendly location. This season, though, the Rangers home field has been the most difficult place to score runs in the majors. Nobody knows why that’s the case, with Texas’ general manager Chris Young recently <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6455108/2025/06/27/texas-rangers-globe-life-hitters-marlins-pirates/" rel="noopener">weighing in on the puzzling trend</a>.</p><p>“Our people are perplexed,” Young said. “We’re looking at everything from the humidor to which doors and windows are open at what points of time during the game for entrance and egress. We don’t have answers right now. It’s a really hard thing for me to reconcile. Yes, the park is playing bigger. We’ve also found ways to win at home. Is that impacting us on the road? The problem for them has been winning on the road, as they have just a 17-25 record, so it’s not as if this sudden change is having a negative impact on them.</p><p>Whatever the reason may be, Texas’ stadium becoming the most pitcher-friendly park in the game has confused folks across the league. The Rangers have bigger issues at hand, though, as they need to figure out how to start winning consistently if they want to make a playoff push in the second half of the season. The two-time Cy Young winner was dealing for Texas, as he pitched seven scoreless innings, taking a no-hit bid into the eighth frame, during a 7-0 victory over the Orioles.</p><p>Baltimore outfielder Colton Cowser ended deGrom’s dream for a no-hitter in the contest when he had a single off a fastball from the 37-year-old Texas ace in the eighth inning. DeGrom’s night ended following Cowser’s hit, as he was replaced on the hill by reliever Jacob Webb, who, along with Cole Winn, finished the job for the Rangers’ bullpen.</p><p>DeGrom did not hide his <a href="https://www.mlb.com/news/jacob-degrom-takes-no-hitter-into-eighth-in-win-over-orioles" rel="noopener">thoughts on losing a chance</a> to complete a no-hitter.</p><p>“I even stood over there and said to [Cowser], like, ‘Dang it, I wanted that,’” deGrom said after the game (h/t Paige Leckie of MLB.com). “But it’s — they’re Major League hitters, too. So I threw a fastball — I think it was a fastball, I asked when I came in. Think I kind of blacked out, but I was like, ‘What did I throw there?’ And it was a fastball, and he got to it.”</p><p>Cowser had given Jacob deGrom some trouble in the previous two matchups in the game, as he battled the four-time All-Star for five pitches before striking out in the second inning. DeGrom retired Cowser again, but not before the latter made contact for a groundout. A perfect game was also going for deGrom until Jackson Holliday drew a walk in the sixth inning.</p><p>DeGrom may have lost a no-hitter against Baltimore, but he managed to set a new franchise record. With <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-nathan-eovaldi-avoids-il-rotation-update">Nathan Eovaldi still on Bruce Bochy’s injured list</a>, the Rangers manager has relied heavily on his new ace. Luckily for him, deGrom was just as dominant as ever against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.</p><p>deGrom left the game after Colton Cowser broke up his no-hitter in the eighth inning. Even though Texas was the road team, Orioles fans in attendance realized just how great his performance was. After Cowser knocked him out of the game, he had a 7-0 lead. Bochy’s relievers came in and completed the shutout, giving deGrom his eighth win of the season.</p><p>Across the full game, Cowser’s single was the only hit the Orioles got on Wednesday. Despite <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/baltimore-orioles/orioles-news-gunnar-henderson-makes-baltimores-playoff-hopes-clear">Gunnar Henderson claiming that a turnaround is inevitable for Baltimore</a>, deGrom was not having it.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-gem-pirates-bruce-bochy-fanboying">Bochy has been impressed by deGrom all season</a>. His brilliance on the mound is one big reason why the Rangers are still in the American League Wild Card race.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-jacob-degrom-trade-idea-draws-mlb-network-reaction">deGrom’s name is in trade rumors as the deadline approaches</a>. The 12-year veteran is well on his way to his fifth All-Star appearance. If he can stay on the mound throughout the rest of the season, he could even push Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal for the AL Cy Young Award.</p><p>Fans of one team rarely cheer for an opposing player. The fact that Orioles fans showed such respect to deGrom is a good example of how the rest of the league views him. When he came back out of retirement the first time to manage the Rangers, he led them to a World Series title against the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2023. Two years later, the Rangers are 39-41 on the season, which places them 4th in the AL West Division, 7.5 games back of the Houston Astros.</p><p>On Tuesday, starting pitcher Jacob Latz had a no-hit bid in the 7th inning against the Baltimore Orioles but allowed a hit and two runs to end what was an incredible start. Bochy had nothing but <a href="https://x.com/victoryplustv/status/1937703391930490898" rel="noopener">great things to say about the performance</a>.</p><p>“What a job, huh? He’s been throwing the ball well. He was right on it. Good fastball, good changeup, slider, terrific job that young kid did. He’s just getting better and better. It’s a tough one for him not to get the win, but he did all he could. Really really impressive outing.”</p><p>As mentioned in the interview, Latz was a spot starter, and there were no expectations of him having the outing he had. Bochy kept him in the game after the hit allowed, but after he walked the following batter then that was it. Since becoming a spot starter, Latz has pitched 11.2 innings, allowing just three runs and four hits. Maybe being a full-time starter could be in store for the southpaw, especially after this outing.</p><p>On the season, Latz has a 3.22 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 34 strikeouts, and 16 walks in 36.1 innings.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-tyler-mahle-risk-missing-start-soreness">Tyler Mahle remains on the IL,</a> so Latz could get another start next week. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-gem-pirates-bruce-bochy-fanboying">Jacob deGrom continues his hot season</a> on Wednesday as the Rangers take on the Orioles for the rubber match. Bruce Bochy’s team finds themselves  in the bottom half of the American League West. More than five games separate them from the Houston Astros at the top. With <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-texas-pitcher-cody-bradford-injury">Corey Bradford out for the rest of the season, the Rangers’</a> path just got a little harder.</p><p>Bochy led Texas to a World Series championship in 2023. Adolis Garcia and Corey Seager lead the team at the plate. Even though Jacob deGrom did not finish the season, his presence helped the starting rotation dominate in the postseason. The veteran starter is finally putting together a healthy season, but the offense has been underwhelming since the season began.</p><p>Bochy and the Rangers face a tough choice just over a month away from the deadline. They do not have the young players necessary to move on from their veterans and still remain competitive. However, they do have players that are attractive assets to teams around the league. Making the right trades could set Texas up for years of future success.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-bruce-bochy-all-time-ejection-leaderboard-white-sox">Bochy has been passionate throughout this season, getting himself ejected</a> from a game in the process. Unfortunately, his team cannot string together wins, regularly sitting a few games below .500.</p><p>There are former All-Stars up and down the Rangers’ roster. Seager, for one, is one of the best power hitters in the league despite a slow start. A change of scenery could be all he needs to return to his former glory and help a team win a World Series.</p><p>Here are three players that Texas should put on the trade block before the trade deadline.</p><h2>Starting Pitcher Jacob deGrom</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Jacob-deGrom-on-May-15-2025.-2.jpg"><figcaption>Raymond Carlin III-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>This is the obvious one, and experts around the league have already <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-jacob-degrom-trade-idea-draws-mlb-network-reaction">thrown Jacob deGrom’s name into rumors</a>. The 37-year-old is having a fantastic season and is in consideration for an AL All-Star spot, which would he first appearance since 2021. deGrom remains one of the most divisive names in the baseball world, but the story remains the same.</p><p>When he is healthy, deGrom is as dominant as anyone. Unfortunately, no pitcher is as familiar with the injured list as he is. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-gem-pirates-bruce-bochy-fanboying">Bochy has marveled at his pitcher</a> so far this season, though. The Rangers starter has not spent any time on the IL so far this season, starting 15 games so far this season. That number is big for deGrom. 2025 is the first year since 2021 that he has made that many starts in a season.</p><p>If this is a fully healthy season for deGrom that sees him make more than 30 starts for the first time in six years, teams will be lined up to deal for him. Unfortunately for him and Texas, that is far from a guarantee. The Rangers have five weeks to sell other teams on deGrom’s start to the season and get them to buy high on his potential.</p><p>Some teams are one starter away from serious title contention. Depending on the market, deGrom could be the best player available.</p><h2>Shortstop Corey Seager</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/unnamed-2.jpg"><figcaption>Raymond Carlin III-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Corey Seager’s approach has changed this season. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/how-rangers-corey-seager-is-doing-his-best-juan-soto-impression">Rangers shortstop is drawing more walks than ever</a>, but has the lowest batting average of his career so far this season. For a player who made a name for himself with his power, Seager’s cold stretch is concerning. Bochy and Texas’ hitting coaches have talked with him throughout the season, trying to figure out how to help him out of his slump.</p><p>It is more than just Seager, but the Rangers’ offense has had a hard time this season. Texas is in the bottom of Major League Baseball in batting average, runs scored, RBIs, and walks. Seager’s struggles are a good representation of how underwhelming the Rangers have been. Bochy’s starting rotation has held his team afloat, but there are no signs of a turnaround.</p><p>Seager’s name still carries weight around the league, though. The 31-year-old is having one of the better defensive seasons of his career despite a career-low WAR. Teams trading for the two-time World Series MVP will bank on the fact that he is an exceptional hitter in the postseason. Outside of that, there is little reason to trade for him.</p><p>If Bochy and the front office do go in that direction, it will be a tough day for the fanbase.</p><h2>Outfielder Adolis Garcia</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Rangers-outfielder-Adolis-Garcia-53-bats.jpg"><figcaption>Katie Stratman-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>“El Bombi” has been anything but so far this season. Adolis Garcia leads the Rangers in RBIs entering Tuesday’s game, but his nine home runs have him on pace for the lowest total since he became a full-time starter in 2021. Left-handed pitcher Cody Bradford is <a href="https://x.com/JeffWilsonTXR/status/1937581448573440310" rel="noopener">expected to undergo</a> elbow surgery and will miss the remainder of the ’25 campaign as a result, Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports reports.</p><p>“Bad news on the #Rangers injury front: Cody Bradford will undergo elbow surgery tomorrow. Team isn’t sure if he will have the brace procedure or full-blown Tommy John, but Bradford won’t pitch this season and probably much of 2026,” Wilson wrote on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/rangers-news-tyler-mahle-risk-missing-start-soreness">Rangers have dealt with injury trouble in 2025</a>, something that unfortunately followed the team from their forgettable 2024 season. Losing Bradford is unquestionably difficult news.</p><p>Bradford, a 27-year-old southpaw, made his big league debut in 2023. In 2024, though, Bradford established himself as a reliable pitcher in MLB. He turned in a quality 3.54 ERA across 14 outings (13 starts). It was a limited sample size, but Bradford displayed signs of potential.</p><p>He dealt with injuries in 2024 which played a role in the aforementioned limited sample size. In 2025 spring training, Bradford once again landed on the injured list due to an elbow sprain. As a result, he has not made a single appearance with the Rangers in the 2025 season.</p><p>Regardless of whether or not Bradford undergoes Tommy John surgery or a different procedure, Wilson reports that the left-handed hurler will “probably” miss a significant portion of 2026 in addition to the remainder of the ’25 campaign.</p><p>It’s a devastating update, but Texas will attempt to move forward nonetheless. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-gem-pirates-bruce-bochy-fanboying">Rangers have had some memorable moments</a> so far this year, but they will have work to do in order to compete for a playoff position.</p><p>Updates will continue to be provided on Cody Bradford’s injury status. On the season he’s slashing .220/.253/.403 with 10 homers, 29 RBI, 27 runs scored and an OPS+ of just 87 – well below his career average of 109.</p><p>In addition to Burger, Rangers left fielder Wyatt Langford is also ailing. The two-time former Cy Young winner has been healthy all year and has delivered elite outing after elite outing on the mound for Texas, and that was no different on Friday night.</p><p>The star right-hander went six innings for Bruce Bochy and company in a 6-2 win over he Pittsburgh Pirates, notching seven strikeouts while giving up five hits, a walk and a pair of earned runs.</p><p>After the game, Bochy was <a href="https://www.mlb.com/news/jacob-degrom-logs-quality-start-in-rangers-win-over-pirates" rel="noopener">left to do nothing</a> but appreciate deGrom’s greatness after yet another strong outing, via Kennedi Landry of MLB.com.</p><p>“It’s been great [watching him],” Bochy said. “I’ve always said this, and I appreciate his talent. I’m a fan. I love watching him, so to have him back healthy and watching what he’s doing, it’s cool. For him to be pitching without being in pain, I’m excited for him, because he went through a lot before the surgery. He has not played a full season since back in 2019 for the Mets when he won his second Cy Young.</p><p>Now, he is back to his best again.</p><p>“I can’t say better than expected, because I expected Jacob to do what he’s been doing his whole career,” Bochy added after the game, per Landry. “Now he’s doing what I saw a lot from the other side. This is what he can do when he’s healthy. … The consistency is remarkable. He’s so gifted at putting the ball where he wants. I’m a fan. I was trying to make up for yesterday’s smoked layup, so I just wanted to do a little bit better than I did yesterday,” Bueckers said, referring to a shot she missed in the Wings’ 80-71 win over the Golden State Valkyries.</p><p>Bueckers’ dynamic performance helped lead the Wings to their second win of the 2025 WNBA season and first in their home arena. The hard-fought 5-4 victory was the Rangers’ third straight win. But manager Bruce Bochy didn’t see it.</p><p>In the previous inning, Bochy was convinced the third base umpire incorrectly rang up Corey Seager on a check swing. The <a href="https://x.com/kennlandry/status/1934033858325844214" rel="noopener">argument continued</a> between innings and Bochy got ejected. It was the veteran manager’s 88th-career ejection, tying him with Frankie Frisch for sixth on the all-time list, per MLB.com’s Kennedi Landry.</p><h2><b>Bruce Bochy fires up Rangers with ejection</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Bruce-Bochy-2.jpg"><figcaption>Brad Penner-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Rangers had something cooking in the bottom of the 10th. Seager <a href="https://www.mlb.com/rangers/video/bruce-bochy-ejected-in-the-10th" rel="noopener">stepped to the plate</a> with the bases loaded and two out looking to end the game with a base hit. On a 2-2 count, White Sox reliever Tyler Alexander threw an 82 mph sweeper out of the zone and Seager chased, possibly pulling his bat back at the last second.</p><p>The appeal was made to the third base umpire, who said Seager went around and the inning ended with three base runners stranded.</p><p>Thirteen different pitchers were used in the 11-inning game. The White Sox sent seven pitchers to the mound while the Rangers employed six. But Jacob deGrom drew the start for Texas and the two-time Cy Young winner <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-jacob-degrom-dominant-streak-continues-win-nationals">continued his dominant streak</a>. DeGrom allowed two runs on five hits and zero walks with six strikeouts in six innings.</p><p>Despite the quality start, deGrom exited with his team trailing 2-1 as the Rangers’ offense struggled early on. However, Texas scored two runs in the seventh to take a 3-2 lead, ensuring deGrom wouldn’t get the loss.</p><p>In a bounce-back season after two injury-plagued years, deGrom is now 6-2 with a 2.19 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 2.4 bWAR in 14 starts. There have been <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-jacob-degrom-trade-idea-draws-mlb-network-reaction">trade rumors involving deGrom</a> this season, based on the Rangers’ slow start. However, given the veteran ace’s injury history, a robust market is unlikely to develop.</p><p>The Rangers have actually won six of their last seven games, improving to 35-36. But Texas remains in third place in the AL West and 5.5 games behind the division-leading Houston Astros.</p><p>The disappointing season could be Bochy’s last as the 70-year-old manager could walk away after 2025. If Bochy does decide to depart, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-rumors-bruce-bochy-likely-replacement-if-walks-away-after-season">Rangers will likely replace him</a> with Skip Schumaker.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

His RBI double in the fifth inning was one of the four runs scored in the last five innings to tie their game against the Chicago White Sox. He helped set the table while <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-adolis-garcia-gives-texas-win-walk-off-white-sox">Adolis Garcia stepped in and won the game for the Rangers in the 11th</a>. Seager also walked twice during the game, taking a page out of New York Mets superstar Juan Soto’s book.</p><p>Seager’s walk in the third inning extended his streak to nine straight games. According to MLB.com’s Kennedi Landry, it is the <a href="https://x.com/kennlandry/status/1933991297481658718" rel="noopener">longest streak</a> in Rangers history. Joey Gallo is second on the list with eight straight games in 2023.</p><p>Seager’s improved discipline at the plate has helped him overcome a slow start to the year. In June, though, his batting average is less than .100, a troubling sign for Rangers fans. His walks have helped him maintain an on-base percentage of .295 this month despite his struggles. Soto had a similar rough stretch with the Mets earlier this season, but still brought value to the team by drawing walks consistently.</p><p>While there is a big gap between Soto’s league-leading 57 walks and Seager’s 18, the shortstop’s recent stretch shows growth. However, the Rangers and their fanbase expect more from their All-Star shortstop at the plate. The 31-year-old <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/texas-rangers/rangers-news-corey-seager-injury-return-after-missing-16-games">spent time on the Rangers’ injured list</a> in May and has not been the same since his return. Despite that, Texas has won six of their last ten games to re-enter the race in the American League West.</p><p>The Rangers are still a handful of games behind the Houston Astros at the top of the division. For now, though, their biggest challenge is getting in front of the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels. In order to reach their goals this season, they will need Seager to be at his best.</p><p>Texas won a title back in 2023, but has struggled with consistency since. This season, their troubles have manifested into frustration. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy was thrown out of the game in the sixth inning. That sparked the comeback, though, with Seager and Garcia leading the way.</p><p>Texas has a long way to go if they want to secure a playoff spot. As long as Seager keeps walking as much as Soto does for the Mets, the Rangers should be just fine moving forward. However, competition in the AL playoff picture will demand the a lot from the team, both at the plate and on the mound.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
