With one of their first moves of the offseason, they <a href="https://x.com/Alden_Gonzalez/status/1986519907849412723" rel="noopener">made the decision</a> to bring back one of their key players for 2026, according to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez.</p><p>“Source: The Dodgers have picked up Max Muncy’s option for 2026. It is valued at $10M,” Gonzalez wrote on X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>Muncy is the longest-tenured member of the team, which makes the decision to pick up his option a no-brainer. He had his best season at the plate this year since he received MVP votes in 2021, hitting .243 with 19 home runs, 67 RBIs, and an .846 OPS in 100 games. He had a quiet postseason, but had a huge play in Game 7 of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays with a home run in the eighth inning. That helped the team come back in the ninth inning and extra innings, which got them to clinch another title.</p><p>For the past few years, Muncy has dealt with injuries, with this season having a knee contusion in July and an oblique strain in August. Nonetheless, when he was playing, he made sure to be impactful and help the Dodgers wherever he could.</p><p>Muncy was in the final season of his two-year, $24 million extension that he signed in 2023. His $10 million option was seen as a bargain by many, especially with what he was able to do toward the end of the season.</p><p>With Muncy returning, he highlights one of the key pieces of the team that has been with them for some time. The team will miss <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/dodgers-news-clayton-kershaw-retirement-gesture">Clayton Kershaw as he’s retiring</a>, but they should still have the players they need to compete for another World Series next season.</p><p>There’s no doubt that there will be more moves that the Dodgers make as the offseason continues.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Because the veteran third baseman saved <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/mlb-news-dodgers-blue-jays-bullpen-clears-after-andres-gimenez-hbp">Justin Wrobleski from being ejected for his bench-clearing interaction with Andrés Giménez</a>, which could have changed LA’s entire plan before Dave Roberts started rotating in his starters on the way to a <a href="https://x.com/FoulTerritoryTV/status/1985789142060376384" rel="noopener">Game 7 win</a>, as he explained on <i>Foul Territory</i>.</p><p>“You know, my first reaction was like, ‘H*ll yeah, don’t back down to this guy. Get him.’ And then immediately I was like, ‘Oh crap, we need him to stay in this game,'” Maxey explained.</p><p>“He’s got to throw some more batters. So I was like, I got to get him out of there. Um, yeah, my initial reaction was, ‘Yeah, go get him.’ But then I was like, ‘Oh man, we got to get, we got to make sure he stays in this game.’ And, you know, thankfully, the umpires all came up to me and they’re like, ‘If you didn’t get him out of there, we were probably gonna have to toss him, you know, because you know how that goes with the, the instigation rules.’ If you’re the guy that instigates it, then you’re usually the one that gets tossed, even though it’s not your fault.</p><p>“And so, you know, I knew we needed him for at least one or two, maybe three more batters just based on that part of the lineup. And I was, you know, so I was like, I got to get him out of there and make sure he stays in this game. And I talked to him the next day, and he was like, ‘Yeah, I appreciate it.’ You know, at first I think he was a little taken aback that I was not letting him get in the fight, but you know, it’s he had that mentality the whole postseason. Every time he pitched, he was coming after you. He didn’t care who you were.”</p><p>While things did get dicey for Wrobleski, in the end, he did his job for the Dodgers in a relatively rough circumstance, recording two Ks over 1.1 innings in place of Shohei Ohtani to set up Tyler Glasnow. L.A. needed 18 innings to post one of those four victories. Game 7 was also a contest that was settled in extra innings, going 11 frames.</p><p>“A seven-game series, that’s enough games for teams to kind of separate themselves a little bit,” Muncy said. “….I always felt like the team that is going to win is going to separate themselves a little bit.”</p><p>The Dodgers will now look for their third consecutive World Series in 2026. One of the biggest reasons why the team has haters is because of the massive amount of payroll the Dodgers spend on players.</p><h2><b>Dodgers looked dominant in the World Series</b></h2><p>The Dodgers found ways to win in this year’s World Series, when it originally looked like they wouldn’t. Los Angeles was down 3-0 in the pivotal Game 7, after Bo Bichette homered off Shohei Ohtani.</p><p>Los Angeles was then saved by Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who came in to pitch in Game 7 in relief. Yamamoto had already started in Game 6, and won that contest. Muncy <a href="https://x.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1985796360701186377" rel="noopener">was in awe of that</a>.</p><p>“Yoshi putting his body on the line like that to get us a win, it’s hard to describe that in words,” Muncy added on the show.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/dodgers-news-yoshinobu-yamamoto-said-winning-world-series-mvp">Yamamoto also willed the team to win in Game 2</a>. The hurler pitched the entire game for the Dodgers in that contest. Yamamoto won three games for Los Angeles in the Fall Classic.</p><p>The Dodgers also defeated the New York Yankees in the 2024 World Series. Los Angeles has three titles now since 2020, and the club shows no signs of stopping.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The long ball gave Los Angeles an instant jolt of electricity, and third baseman Max Muncy was moved from seeing his teammate enjoy a<a href="https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46811984/dodgers-steal-game-7-extras-repeat-world-series-champs" rel="noopener"> clutch moment. </a></p><p>“He’s the ultimate team guy,” Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy told ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez, “and for him to get that home run to tie it up, it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.”</p><p>The Dodgers’ lineup had struggled throughout the night. Collectively, they went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Rojas’ home run was his first extra-base hit of the entire postseason.</p><p>The 36-year-old veteran was sure to credit his team for gutting through a long season filled with pressure when all was said and done.</p><p>“I know everybody says we’re probably ruining baseball because we got so much talent…,” Rojas told SportsNet LA, “but how about starting the year in Japan and playing the longest season ever?”</p><p>Rojas and the Dodgers are the first team to win <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6769881/2025/11/02/los-angeles-dodgers-world-series-champions-blue-jays-game-7/" rel="noopener">back-to-back</a> championships since the New York Yankees won three straight from 1998 to 2000.</p><p>“To do what we’ve done in this span of time is pretty remarkable,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told Andy McCullough of The Athletic. “I guess let the pundits and all the fans talk about if it’s a dynasty or not, but I’m pretty happy with where we’re at.”</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
