The San Diego Padres made an early statement in MLB Free Agency by securing Michael King on a three-year, $75 million contract,
according to a report by MLB Network’s Mark Feinsand. The
deal brings flexibility and upside for the Padres, with player options for 2027 and 2028 baked into the structure. King receives a $12 million signing bonus, $5 million in 2026, a $28 million option in 2027 with a buyout, and a $30 million option in 2028. The deal can land at $22M, $45M, or the full $75M.
