First, while facing bases loaded with one out, Miguel Rojas retrieved a ground ball and opted to avoid the tag out at first. The ball was hit over to Smith, and he was able to keep his foot on the home plate to help stop the run on Toronto’s side.</p><p>That play came close to the Blue Jays taking the lead, but Smith’s clutch gene kicked in at the right time. Afterward, that’s when Smith hit the home run in the 11th inning.</p><p>The Dodgers were able to stop the Blue Jays from scoring, and they were able to walk away with back-to-back World Series wins. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/what-dodgers-will-smith-credits-for-game-7-world-series-win">Smith spoke about the team fighting</a> until the end.</p><p>“It’s a special group of guys man,” Smith said after the game. “We just never gave up, kept fighting. That was a fight for seven games. That’s a really good Toronto Blue Jays team. I’m just excited. There’s nothing better than this.”</p><p>It looked like the Dodgers were down and out during a few times in this series, but they were able to dig deep and make things happen when it mattered the most. It appeared the Toronto Blue Jays had the upper hand in Saturday’s winner-take-all finale. Closer Jeff Hoffman entered with a 4-3 lead in the ninth inning. But <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/dodgers-miguel-rojas-ties-things-up-with-9th-inning-home-run">Miguel Rojas tied Game 7</a> with a solo homer to left field.</p><p>The Blue Jays couldn’t answer in the bottom of the ninth and the game went to extra innings. With Shane Bieber on the mound for Toronto in the 11th inning, Will Smith played the hero for Los Angeles.</p><p>Smith worked the count to 2-0 before blasting an 84 mph slider over the left field wall. And the instant classic shot would end up being the World Series winner.</p><p>Game 6 starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto had already pitched 1.2 innings on Saturday. But with the Dodgers’ bullpen depleted, he came back out for the 11th hoping to protect LA’s one-run lead. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/dodgers-news-fans-watch-yoshinobu-yamamoto-exit-world-series-96-pitches">Yamamoto threw 96 pitches</a> on Friday and the second-year starter tossed another 34 in relief during Game 7.</p><p>However, Yamamoto ran into trouble in the 11th inning. He allowed a leadoff double to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and, after a sacrifice bunt moved the tying run to third, Yamamoto walked Addison Barger. Toronto had runners on the corners but the Dodgers’ ace got out of the jam. The slowest Blue Jay, Alejandro Kirk, slapped a grounder to short. Mookie Betts stepped on second base and fired to first, completing the game-ending double play.</p><p>Yamamoto gave up one hit and one walk in 2.2 scoreless innings, earning his second straight Fall Classic victory. Will Smith shattered a new mark in helping lead the 5-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. I can’t wait until tomorrow!! Go Dodgers Go Dodgers Go Dodgers!!” Johnson posted to X, formerly Twitter.</p><p>Johnson is part of the Dodgers ownership group. Los Angeles is <a href="https://www.mlb.com/news/dodgers-win-world-series-game-6-2025" rel="noopener">now just one victory</a> away from winning their second consecutive World Series title.</p><p>“It’s been a heck of a series,” said Dodgers left fielder Kiké Hernández, per MLB.com. “Why not play a Game 7?”</p><p>Game 7 of the Fall Classic is on Saturday night. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/dodgers-news-magic-johnson-encouraging-world-series-message-game-6">Johnson has frequently commented about the Dodgers</a> during this series.</p><h2><b>Dodgers played a gem of a game to win Game 6</b></h2><p>Two of the Dodgers’ wins in this series came with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/dodgers-news-yoshinobu-yamamoto-mindset-game-6-performance-blue-jays">Yamamoto allowed just one run</a> in six innings of work on Friday. He has kept Los Angeles going in the series.</p><p>Both teams <a href="https://www.espn.com/mlb/recap/_/gameId/401809302" rel="noopener">are ready and excited</a> to play one last time on Saturday.</p><p>“Man, we live for Game 7, so here we go,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, per ESPN.</p><p>This has been a wild Fall Classic. Los Angeles won an epic 18-inning thriller in Game 3, that ultimately made a huge difference in the series. The club’s victory in Game 6 snapped a two-game losing streak.</p><p>Los Angeles used pitcher Tyler Glasnow in relief in Game 6, to hold off the Blue Jays. Glasnow came in after Roki Sasaki worked for an inning.</p><p>“I just felt that Roki wasn’t as sharp, and I just felt we needed some swing-and-miss and Glasnow was the guy.
