Apparently, he hasn’t been in rumors like everyone has seen, and general manager Chad Buchanan spoke up for Turner regarding all the talk around him <a href="https://athlonsports.com/nba/indiana-pacers/indiana-pacers-gm-chad-buchana-myles-turner-rumors-free-agency" rel="noopener">being on the trade block</a>.</p><p>“It’s almost comical,” Buchanan said. “I’m reading the Myles Turner trade rumors out there at the trade deadline, and I’m just [asking], ‘Where in the world do people get this information?’ Sometimes we as a front office sit back and laugh because it’s unreal where some of this information comes from.”</p><p>From the sound of it, the Pacers weren’t trying to trade Turner at the deadline, and let them tell it, they probably haven’t been trying to trade him at all. Most teams in the league are looking for a talent at the center position like Turner who can stretch the floor and anchor the defense, and that’s probably something that the Pacers value.</p><p>Turner is having a good season for the Pacers and he’s helped them rise in the standings after they had a slow start. Turner missed a few games, but he recently returned and had two solid performances against the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers, Tyrese Haliburton spoke about the importance of having Turner on the court.</p><p>“He’s a very integral part of what we do and why our offense has been so good over these last couple years,” Haliburton said. “To get him back really helps.”</p><p>The Pacers have had a strong few weeks, and they’re currently fourth in the Eastern Conference. The NBA trade deadline for the Pacers will once again involve Myles Turner, but not in the way you might think. With Myles Turner set to hit unrestricted free agency in the offseason, the Pacers will obviously look to re-sign him, and that could mean freeing up potential cap space by trading of <a href="https://marcstein.substack.com/p/lots-more-nba-trade-talk?utm_source=post-email-title&amp;publication_id=392205&amp;post_id=156104802&amp;utm_campaign=email-post-title&amp;isFreemail=false&amp;r=39f60&amp;triedRedirect=true&amp;utm_medium=email" rel="noopener">some their wing depth</a>, as per longtime NBA insider Marc Stein.</p><p>Stein reports that the Pacers could opt to trade someone like Bennedict Mathurin either by the NBA trade deadline, or closer to the NBA Draft, in order to make it easier to re-sign Myles Turner in NBA free agency.</p><p>There’s of course the possibility that re-signing Turner could prove too costly, in which case, it’s no surprise that his name has popped up once again in trade rumors. The Pacers have reportedly <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sources-pacers-discuss-myles-turner-trade-talks-but-theres-a-catch">fielded calls from interested teams</a> about Turner’s potential availability this deadline, as per ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel. Siegel reports that the Pacers aren’t actively looking to trade Turner, and don’t wish to, but that they haven’t exactly dissuaded interested teams.</p><p>One team that has popped up in terms of <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-trade-target-is-myles-turner-actually-available">trade interest in Turner is the Los Angeles Lakers</a>, as per ClutchPoints’ Lakers insider Anthony Irwin. Irwin reports that the Lakers have turned their attention towards Turner as the deadline approaches, and with the asking price for either Jonas Valanciunas and Nikola Vucevic being too high for their liking.</p><h2><b>Myles Turner’s impact with Pacers</b></h2><p>One of the biggest reasons why the Pacers should not trade Myles Turner is because they don’t have much center depth in the wake of the season-ending injuries to both Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman. If the Pacers aren’t getting a starting caliber center in a deal, it isn’t really worth it for them.</p><p>With Turner forming a sold frontcourt duo alongside Thomas Bryant, the Pacers have re-ignited their season and jumped up in the Eastern Conference standings. They’ve gone 10-2 in the month of January and currently sit in fifth place in the East standings at 25-20. It’s a solid turnaround for a team that got off to a disappointing start to the 2024-25 season.</p><p>Turner has been among the best centers in the league this season, and will surely be one of the top free agents on the market this offseason.</p><p>He’s appeared in 43 games this season, at a little over 31 minutes per game. However, despite their recent success, the Pacers are rumored to be eyeing the trade market, with center Myles Turner potentially being available.</p><p>With just over one week until the 2025 NBA trade deadline, the Pacers are potentially <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CszJyN_GJ34&amp;t=2272s" rel="noopener">“sneakily” open to trading</a> Turner, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reported. The 10th-year big man is not actively being shopped but is a name Buha claimed Indiana is open to discussing.</p><p>“I heard from a league source that Indiana might, kinda sneakily, be open to trading Myles Turner,” Buha said on YouTube.</p><p>Buha, a Los Angeles Lakers beat reporter, gave the information on Turner based on the Lakers’ pursuit of a trade at the upcoming deadline. Teams around the league are aware that Los Angeles is in pursuit of a center after <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-news-anthony-davis-doubles-down-center-addition-request-front-office">Anthony Davis publicly requested the move</a> to allow him to play power forward.</p><p>However, Buha noted that the Lakers and Pacers are not yet engaging in trade discussions regarding Turner. He also noted that the team is only interested in potentially moving its center mainstay due to his current contract. Turner is in the final year of his $40 million contract and is expected to pursue a bigger extension in the offseason, which the Pacers seem not interested in offering.</p><p>“He is about to be an unrestricted free agent,” Buha said. “He is going to want 30-plus million, and I’ve heard Indiana is not sure if they want to give him [that much]. He has appeared in 42 of the team’s first 45 games.</p><p>Despite being the longest-tenured player on the Pacers, Turner’s reportedly seeking a pay raise would not line up with his current value. He currently profiles as a high-value role player rather than a star but appears to desire a superstar-level contract.</p><p>Buha added that Indiana would like to receive another center in return if they move Turner. One intriguing thing about Nembhard from teams is his contract, as he’s getting paid just around $2 million this season, and then his three-year, $60 million extension kicks in next season.</p><p>For what Nembhard brings to the team, his contract is perfect for any team looking to stay within their cap range. Johnson’s skillset for his size (6’8″) as well as his relatively affordable contract makes him quite the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-thunder-named-as-cam-johnson-trade-suitor-hot-pursuit">enticing trade piece</a>, and the Nets appear to be holding out for the highest bid — hoping to receive at least two first-round picks in return.</p><p>It’s not quite clear if the Nets will be able to receive their desired haul for Johnson, especially when he is currently dealing with a few nagging injuries. Regardless, two other teams with winning aspirations appear to have joined the Johnson trade sweepstakes. As per NBA insider Marc Stein, the Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies are teams that could <a href="https://marcstein.substack.com/p/sunday-best-all-the-latest-on-jimmy?utm_source=post-email-title&amp;publication_id=392205&amp;post_id=154207813&amp;utm_campaign=email-post-title&amp;isFreemail=false&amp;r=39f60&amp;triedRedirect=true&amp;utm_medium=email" rel="noopener">possibly make a run</a> at the Nets forward.</p><p>Stein wrote that the Pacers are a “team to watch” in the trade pursuit of Johnson; Indiana is currently 18-18 on the season, and acquiring Johnson would not only give them an additional scoring punch to help them reclaim the heights their offense reached last season, but they would also be getting some additional positional versatility at the forward spots, which is a bit of weak spot for them.</p><p>Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have been “frequently mentioned” as a Johnson suitor; however, Stein suggested a bit of cynicism on this front, mentioning that “it’s unclear how eager the Grizzlies are” to talk to the Nets again after their <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nets-news-why-brooklyn-rejected-grizzlies-dorian-finney-smith-offer-featuring-first-rounder">trade talks for Dorian Finney-Smith</a> broke down.</p><p>Whatever the case may be, the Pacers and Grizzlies will greatly benefit from a Johnson trade; but can they pony up the requisite price that it would take for the Nets to trade him away?</p><h2><b>Pacers and Grizzlies join the Cam Johnson trade sweepstakes</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Cam-Johnson_08871c.jpg"><figcaption>Dan Hamilton-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Pacers have been thinner than usual on the wings this season amid Aaron Nesmith’s injury woes; they are a bit undersized in that department as well, with or without Nesmith. Other than their 2026 first-round pick (protected 1-4 in 2026 and 2027), they own all their first-rounders, which could be of interest to the Nets. Youngster Jarace Walker could also come up in trade talks for Cam Johnson.</p><p>For the Grizzlies, they are even richer on the first-round pick department, owning all their future first-rounders. And just one week after that, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-isaiah-jackson-suffers-brutal-season-ending-injury">second-string center Isaiah Jackson tore his</a>.</p><p>Aaron Nesmith is also still <a href="https://www.rotowire.com/basketball/headlines/aaron-nesmith-injury-still-weeks-away-from-game-action-470320" rel="noopener">weeks away from returning to play,</a> so the next-man-up responsibilities have fallen on Obi Toppin and Jarace Walker. It shouldn’t come as surprising that the Pacers have been canvassing the trade market for a backup center, <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/42878390/shams-charania-nba-pass-trade-intel-jimmy-butler-brandon-ingram-golden-state-warriors" rel="noopener">per ESPN’s Shams Charania</a>.</p><h2><b>A backup center could help the Pacers get on the right track</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Tyrese-Haliburton-Pacers-upset.jpg"><figcaption>Robert Goddin-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Pacers have a 7-4 record at home, but are just 3-11 on the road. Many have linked this trend to star guard Tyrese Haliburton’s lingering back injury. But the overall level of play has not been there from <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-news-tyrese-haliburton-broken-record-latest-pitiful-performance">the Pacers this season, and Haliburton agrees</a>.</p><p>A big man coming off the bench won’t singularly solve all of the team’s problems. But it can start a domino effect of players feeling like they can focus on their own role. And that, coupled with Nesmith’s return, might be the push the team needs to get back to the high-octane offense that propelled them to the Eastern Conference Finals.</p><p>This year’s Pacers squad is deeper than last year’s. And Bennedict Mathurin’s return from injury was supposed to mark the true beginning of the partnership between Haliburton and Pascal Siakam. But between Haliburton’s back and the injuries to Wiseman, Jackson, and Nesmith, this season’s path has been bumpier than the previous.</p><p>The Pacers traded considerable draft capital to the Raptors for Siakam. But not enough where they should be panicking about their championship window after every loss. That said, they also shouldn’t spend the season waiting for issues to resolve themselves.</p><p>The basketball gods may never lay out a red carpet for the Pacers. If tanking isn’t part of this team’s ethos, more power to them. Taking a season where everything seems to be going wrong by the horns and making a run at the playoffs might be their best bet at matching last year’s success.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Turner, for what feels like his entire career, has been at the forefront of trade rumors aplenty, but he appears to be off the market for now with the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/indiana-pacers-bold-predictions-2024-25-season-schedule-release">Pacers having blossomed</a> into one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.</p><p>Starting centers who can space the floor and protect the rim are worth their weight in gold, and Turner no longer has the pressure on him to be anything more than that now that Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam have taken the reigns for the Pacers on offense. But his lengthy stay on the trade block has left such a mark on him that <a href="https://hoopshype.com/rumor/3195922/" rel="noopener">he still doesn’t feel</a> like he has a long-term future in Indiana.</p><p>“I can’t help but laugh. I’m gonna keep it a stack. Every year at Indiana has been a contract year at this point, whether you’re fighting rumors or staying true to your grind and what not. I don’t really feel too much different,” Turner said, per Indystar (subscription required) via HoopsHype.</p><p>Turner is in the middle of another <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/17839/myles-turner" rel="noopener">literal contract year</a>, so once again, there is pressure for him to play his role for the Pacers to a T. Regardless, he has become less expendable now that the Pacers are winning again, and it makes total sense for Indiana to come to terms to an extension with him sooner than later.</p><p>Still only 28 years old, Turner should have plenty of productive years in front of him. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-news-myles-turner-first-take-skepticism-rick-carlisle">The Pacers don’t exactly have</a> a ready-made replacement for him in the event of a trade or a departure from him in free agency, so expect Indiana to lock Turner up to a long-term contract extension within the upcoming season.</p><h2><b>Myles Turner is a crucial member of the Pacers’ pace-and-space roster</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Pacers-center-Myles-Turner-33-celebrates-a-made-basket.jpg"></figure><p>Myles Turner has never been a typical big man for the Pacers. He’s not quite adept at holding his own at the boards, while he’s not the most physical big man when it comes to scoring in the post. But he opens up a five-out offense for the Pacers; as one would recall, Indiana was running on a historically-great offensive pace to begin the 2023-24 season, with Turner playing a huge part in that.</p><p>The Pacers’ playoff starting lineup (Turner, Pascal Siakam, Tyrese Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, and Aaron Nesmith) had an impressive net rating of <a href="https://www.nba.com/stats/lineups/advanced?slug=advanced&amp;SeasonType=Playoffs&amp;TeamID=1610612754" rel="noopener">+14.1 in 288 minutes</a> played against tough teams such as the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Milwaukee Bucks. That five-man combination has the right blend of playmaking, tough-shot making off the bounce, as well as speed, allowing them to go out and play at a breakneck pace to spread the opposition thin.</p><p>Behind Turner, the Pacers do have some solid center depth, but it’s not as if they can replicate what the 28-year-old brings to the table. Isaiah Jackson is more in the mold of a traditional rim-running center, and he provides no floor-spacing value whatsoever. Obi Toppin can run some small-ball five, but he’s not the rim protector Turner is. James Wiseman is a versatile scoring option at the five, but his all-around defense is suspect.</p><p>Simply put, Turner’s importance to the team cannot be matched by his competitors for minutes, which should make his place on the Pacers roster safe — at least for now.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

In addition to Haliburton and Siakam, whose combined salaries will exceed $80 million in 2024-25, the Pacers are on the hook for Myles Turner at $19.9 million and Aaron Nesmith at $11 million.</p><p>The Pacers could realistically offer Caldwell-Pope their full non-taxpayer mid-level exception, which could be worth about $55 million over four years, or offer a higher annual salary and negotiate a sign-and-trade with Denver. At 31 years old and with defense being his biggest asset (and typically the first thing to go with aging players), KCP would likely strongly consider a four-year deal considering it would take until age 35. Of course, the Nuggets could pay him that much or more to retain the defensive stalwart. The other 28 teams in the league are paying attention to this championship series, but not for the reason that many would think. Nobody around the league really cares who wins the championship, other than maybe the Los Angeles Lakers, given their rivalry with the Celtics. However, everyone cares when this series ends because it directly impacts NBA free agency and when players such as Pascal Siakam, Tyrese Maxey, Klay Thompson, and others will be able to negotiate new deals with their teams.</p><p>In previous seasons, teams were prohibited from negotiating new deals with free agents, regardless of whether they were their players, until the end of the NBA calendar year on June 30. However, for the first time, teams will be able to start negotiating new deals with their own free agents as soon as the NBA Finals conclude, which could be on Monday night. This means several of the league’s top pending free agents may already have contract proposals from their current teams before the free agency window even opens.</p><p>As far as how this rule change impacts NBA free agency as a whole, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst discussed what this means and why the potential conclusion of the NBA Finals on Monday night will directly result in <a href="https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1802731729834164653">deals being announced</a> on Tuesday.</p><p>“As soon as the Finals end; This is a new rule this year: As soon as the Finals is over, teams can negotiate with their own free agents. So if the [NBA] Finals ends tonight, we will start seeing contracts I believe as early as tomorrow,” Windhorst stated on Monday while appearing on ESPN radio. “Pascal Siakam — Here comes your max baby! Not only will this provide more clarity and certainty as to what teams will be able to do once the actual free agency window opens, but it will also provide an opportunity for teams to lock in their current talents.</p><p>That is why Pascal Siakam and Tyrese Maxey won’t be going anywhere and why they won’t even have the opportunity to speak with other teams in free agency. Once the NBA Finals end, as Windhorst alluded to, Siakam and Maxey will be among the first to see new deals coming their way.</p><p>When the Pacers traded for Siakam, they did so with the mindset of keeping him long term. That is why he is going to likely get a max-level contract of around <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-news-pascal-siakam-looming-max-contract-highlights-offseason-agenda">$240 million over a five-year span</a>. In Maxey’s case, he will be getting a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-76ers-to-re-sign-tyrese-maxey-to-205-million-contract">five-year extension</a> off of his rookie contract worth upwards of $205 million.</p><p>Because the negotiation window begins for teams and their current free agents once the NBA Finals ends, the league could also be prepared to cross other stars off as being “available” on the open market.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/warriors-news-klay-thompsons-eye-opening-social-media-move-ahead-of-free-agency">Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors</a> could negotiate a new deal before other teams get a chance to speak with the future Hall of Famer. Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers could finally come to terms on a new contract after being <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-clippers-determined-to-keep-paul-george-james-harden">unable to find common ground</a>. DeMar DeRozan could re-sign with the Chicago Bulls, OG Anunoby and Isaiah Hartenstein with the New York Knicks, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope with the Denver Nuggets.</p><p>By the time the actual free agency window opens on June 30 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern time, many of the top names could already have verbal agreements with their current teams. However, it is important to note that even though these deals can be negotiated between players and their current teams once the NBA Finals conclude, all of these contracts and agreements can’t be finalized until after July 6.</p><p>Players who aren’t going to be free agents this offseason but become eligible to sign a contract extension will also be able to come to terms on a new contract with their current teams. This means Donovan Mitchell could agree to a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/donovan-mitchell-appears-committed-continuing-future-cavs">new long-term deal</a> to remain with the Cleveland Cavaliers.</p><p>The normal drama of NBA free agency may no longer exist, as teams may have close to two weeks to negotiate new contracts with their current players before the actual free agency period begins.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

This offseason, however, there will be a few pressing matters for the Pacers to attend to. The good news is that Tyrese Haliburton is locked up to a huge contract for the next five seasons, but the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-news-pascal-siakam-sees-indiana-tenure-as-blessing-ahead-of-free-agency">Pacers still have the free agency</a> of Pascal Siakam to attend to, not to mention the impending contract situation of Andrew Nembhard.</p><p>Nembhard, who performed quite well for the Pacers in their run to the Eastern Conference Finals, is set to <a href="https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/78137/andrew-nembhard#:~:text=Andrew%20Nembhard%20signed%20a%204,dead%20cap%20value%20of%20%242%2C019%2C699." rel="noopener">make just $2 million</a> next season in what could be the final year of his deal. While the Pacers will want to secure Nembhard’s services for the foreseeable future, it might be difficult for the Pacers to do so this offseason. Indiana <a href="https://marcstein.substack.com/p/free-agency-latest-and-coaching-carousel?utm_source=post-email-title&amp;publication_id=392205&amp;post_id=145355509&amp;utm_campaign=email-post-title&amp;isFreemail=false&amp;r=39f60&amp;triedRedirect=true&amp;utm_medium=email" rel="noopener">will be limited</a> in what they can offer Nembhard, as the best offer they can put on the table is a four-year, $75 million extension, as per NBA insider Marc Stein.</p><p>An average of $18.75 million from the 2025-26 to 2028-29 season is not too bad of a contract for Andrew Nembhard to sign. After all, Nembhard averaged just 9.2 points and 4.1 assists during the 2023-24 regular season.</p><p>However, Stein noted that other teams are convinced that Nembhard could be a lead guard elsewhere due to his performances in the 2024 NBA playoffs, which means that a bigger contract could eventually be on the table for the 24-year old guard. Nevertheless, the Pacers should still be in the driver’s seat when it comes to keeping Nembhard in town.</p><p>Should Nembhard reject contract extension overtures this offseason, the Pacers could decide to decline his team option worth $2 million for the 2025-26 season and tender him a qualifying offer to make him a restricted free agent. This would then give Indiana the right to match any offer sheet for the combo guard.</p><p>Thus, there is no reason for Pacers fans to fret even though the team’s core is becoming expensive really quickly. Obi Toppin is set to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/best-players-pacers-must-re-sign-in-2024-nba-free-agency">enter free agency</a> as well, joining Siakam, while Myles Turner, TJ McConnell, and Bennedict Mathurin, among others, will be up for contract extensions soon.</p><h2><b>Andrew Nembhard breaks out during the Pacers’ impressive 2024 playoff run</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Pacers-guard-Andrew-Nembhard-2-celebrates-his-game-clinching-three-point-basket.jpg"></figure><p>Andrew Nembhard’s role has fluctuated throughout his first two seasons in the association. Nembhard has started 110 of 143 games in his first two years in the league, and he has averaged 9.3 points and 4.3 assists during that span — good numbers, especially for someone taken in the second round. But that kind of production didn’t exactly suggest that he was going to be a long-term piece for the Pacers to hang onto alongside Tyrese Haliburton.</p><p>However, Nembhard played well under the bright lights of the playoffs. He scored in double figures in 14 of the 17 playoff games he suited up in, and he also took on the responsibility of guarding the likes of Damian Lillard, Jalen Brunson, and even Jayson Tatum at times.</p><p>Even in one of the games he finished with single digits in scoring, he still managed to make a major dent on the game. In the dying moments of Game 3 of the Pacers’ second-round matchup against the New York Knicks, Nembhard, despite shooting 1-7 from the field for three points to that point, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-news-andrew-nembhard-reveals-thought-process-before-epic-game-winner-vs-knicks">was very ballsy</a>. He took a stepback three-pointer near the hash line over the outstretched arms of Brunson to give the Pacers a three-point lead, preventing them from going down 3-0 in the series.</p><p>And then when Haliburton went down in the Eastern Conference Finals with a hamstring injury, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-news-andrew-nembhards-fun-playoff-admission-after-starring-in-place-of-tyrese-haliburton">Nembhard assumed lead guard duties</a>, and the Pacers’ offense barely skipped a beat. He scored 32 and 24 points, respectively, in Games 3 and 4 to lead the Pacers in a spirited attempt to extend the series despite missing the team’s best player. In the end, he averaged 14.9 points and 5.5 assists in the playoffs while shooting a scorching hot 56 percent from the field and 48.3 percent from deep.</p><p>It’s not hard to imagine Andrew Nembhard flourishing even more on a team where he could be the lead ballhandler. But Nembhard has shown that he can play off of Haliburton and flourish when he’s out of the game, which means that he’s all the more valuable to the Pacers due to his role flexibility.</p><p>It’s been two years in a row now that Tyrese Haliburton sustained an injury to his hamstring. Having a top-notch insurance option in Nembhard is invaluable. And since the Pacers play at a breakneck pace, having speedy guards who can run a track meet is a must, which only adds further to the 24-year old guard’s importance to the team.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

They have one of the best up-and-coming stars of the NBA in Tyrese Haliburton and a solid group behind him. Because of that, they’ve become quite the attractive team to root for.</p><p>It seems like a former Pacers star is also starting to gain interest in the new-look Pacers. Before Paul George was an MVP candidate for the Thunder and a bona fide star with the Clippers, he first made his name in Indiana. However, they haven’t quite proven that they’re able to be a consistent top team in the East.</p><p>George would certainly bring a spark to the Pacers that they’ve badly needed. While he’s not quite at the prime of his powers now, PG13 is still one of the best shooters in the league and an elite defender on the perimeter. However, the problem is likely going to be the money. With Haliburton on a massive deal and Siakam seeking a new contract, signing George to another deal will be troublesome. With less than 24 hours to go before the trade deadline passes, Hield reportedly remains on the trade market, with the Philadelphia 76ers <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-buddy-hield-bojan-bogdanovic-among-76ers-trade-deadline-targets" rel="noopener">reportedly among</a> the 31-year old sharpshooter’s chief suitors.</p><p>There remains a possibility that Hield would remain with the Pacers in spite of his reduced role on the team. But whatever the case ends up being and whether or not the 31-year old will be staying with Indiana past the trade deadline, Hield is <a href="https://theathletic.com/live-blogs/nba-trade-deadline-live-updates-rumors-news-deals/SbxQ8X0tABMH/fIOO754EakCT/" rel="noopener">remaining thankful</a> that he remains a valued asset around the league.</p><p>“One thing about me, I always thank God I have a jersey on me. The Indiana Pacers have been a popular team, even after landing Pascal Siakam in a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pascal-siakam-trade-grades-pacers-raptors-pelicans" rel="noopener">blockbuster trade</a> with the Toronto Raptors. The Pacers might not be <a href="https://twitter.com/BrettSiegelNBA/status/1749871255451304217" rel="noopener">done making moves</a> after that, either. There are other players on the trade block, with Buddy Hield, Obi Toppin, and Jalen Smith <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sources-bruce-brown-dejounte-murray-trade-market-trade-deadline-rumors" rel="noopener">all being made available</a>, per ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.</p><p>‘After acquiring Pascal Siakam, the Indiana Pacers’ front office has remained aggressive. The Pacers are continuing to make calls in search of more talent ahead of the trade deadline, sources said, making Buddy Hield, Obi Toppin, and Jalen Smith available. Indiana has no interest in dealing Myles Turner, Bennedict Mathurin, or rookie Jarace Walker.’</p><p>But, despite Hield and others being available, the Pacers are not looking to trade the other star players, including youngsters Bennedict Mathurin and Jarace Walker.</p><p>The Pacers have climbed to 24-19 overall and the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference and tied with the Miami Heat. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-miami-pulls-off-terry-rozier-kyle-lowry-trade-hornets" rel="noopener">Heat just acquired Terry Rozier</a> in a trade on Tuesday, so things might continue to shift in the East.</p><p>Hield’s name is not new <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-pacers-building-trade-offers-around-buddy-hield-but-they-dont-want-trade-2-young-studs" rel="noopener">to trade discussions</a>, and he has long been viewed as a player who could be moved for the past couple of seasons. On the year, he is averaging 13 PPG, a decline from his 16.8 average a year ago. He joined ClutchPoints in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Recently, the Indiana Pacers sent shockwaves throughout the NBA world when it was announced that they would be trading for Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-trail-blazers-prediction-odds-pick-how-to-watch-1-19-2024" rel="noopener">Indiana has been</a> one of the most surprising stories throughout the first half of the NBA season, led by dynamic point guard Tyrese Haliburton; however, most pundits viewed the team as being a piece or two away from real contention, and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/raptors-news-pascal-siakam-sends-emotional-farewell-toronto-pacers-trade" rel="noopener">Siakam may well be</a> that missing ingredient.</p><p>Now, more light is being shed on what exactly the Pacers’ thought process was in <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/insider/story/_/id/39315132/lowe-utah-success-backfired-hawks-trade-okc-two-man-game" rel="noopener">making the move</a> for Siakam, including their consideration of other talented power forwards across the league.</p><p>“The Pacers in prior weeks — before they were sure Siakam would be available — were one of several teams to call Utah about [Lauri] Markkanen, sources said,” reported Zach Lowe of ESPN. “The Jazz in those brief talks showed zero interest in moving Markkanen, sources said.”</p><p>While they may have missed out on Lauri Markkanen, the Pacers are still surely happy to have a Swiss army knife like Pascal Siakam playing for their team now. Siakam automatically becomes Indiana’s most versatile defender, an area of the game where the Pacers have struggled mightily so far this year.</p><p>The talented forward also gives Tyrese Haliburton another scoring option that could potentially take some of the load off of the point guard come playoff time, when opposing teams are sure to throw more traps and other coverages at him than he’s been seeing in the regular season.</p><p>The Pacers next take the floor against the Portland Trail Blazers.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Indiana Pacers also sent Bruce Brown north of the border in Wednesday’s <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pascal-siakam-trade-grades-pacers-raptors-pelicans" rel="noopener">blockbuster trade</a>, but there’s already scuttle that he could be moved again ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline.</p><p>After bringing in Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett in their previous trade of OG Anunoby, all indications were the Raptors preferred prospects over picks in a prospective Siakam deal. What happened? Maybe ask the Golden State Warriors.</p><p>Less than two hours before Toronto and Indiana agreed on the trade that finally sent Siakam elsewhere, more rumors emerged that Golden State was chasing the two-time All-Star with the <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/toronto-appears-to-be-seeking-established-young-players-in-deal-for-pascal-siakam-165933967.html" rel="noopener">hope of retaining</a> not just one of Jonathan Kumina and Moses Moody, but both.</p><p>“Golden State has held discussions on Siakam as well, as the Warriors are motivated to find in-season improvements and right their ship that’s still being steered by Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson,” Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports reported. “Golden State, though, has shown little indication of parting with Moses Moody or Jonathan Kuminga, sources said.”</p><h2><b>Should Warriors keep both Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody past trade deadline?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/warriors-2023-offseason-recap-chris-paul-joins-title-hunt-after-jordan-pooole-trade-2.jpg"></figure><p>Golden State’s desire to supplement its ever-aging Big 3 with another star at the trade deadline is likely doomed by Siakam heading to Indiana. Any expectation the Utah Jazz would seriously entertain a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-3-reasons-jazz-lauri-markkanen-likely-wont-be-traded" rel="noopener">Lauri Markkanen trade</a> absent a return haul on par with the historic one they received for Rudy Gobert was always foolish, and Will Hardy’s team has been the hottest in the league over the past month.</p><p>Perhaps the Warriors have eyes for the Washington Wizards’ Kyle Kuzma or the Orlando Magic’s Wendell Carter Jr., but neither player is close to Siakam’s caliber of true difference-maker. The same goes for defensive maven Alex Caruso of the Chicago Bulls, a known personal favorite of Steve Kerr’s. While it’s hardly a secret the Bulls and Atlanta Hawks have made Zach LaVine and Dejounte Murray available, they’re far from snug fits on a team still built around Curry, Green and Thompson.</p><p>Don’t expect Golden State to make that much-discussed big move at the trade deadline, basically. If the front office always wanted to hang onto Kuminga <i>and </i>Moody into the summer, odds are it was never coming anyway. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/warriors-news-steve-kerrs-stunning-andrew-wiggins-take-amid-trade-rumors-will-incense-dubs-fans" rel="noopener">Andrew Wiggins is negative value</a> on his current contract by this point, and Mike Dunleavy Jr. is surely wary of not including significant protections on future first-round picks in any trade framework given this team’s steep recent downward trajectory.</p><p>Would pushing their chips in for a star like Siakam—without even taking the elephant in the room of his expected four-year, max-level contract and Golden State’s second-apron complications into account—really have been the Dubs’ optimal means of charting a better path forward as the twilight of Curry’s career continues? It seems Dunleavy and company don’t think so, instead content to enter what needs to be a truly transformational offseason with all of their top trade assets still in hand.</p><p>Golden State will have a much better idea of what it will take to re-sign Thompson in early June. There’s still a chance Wiggins rehabs his value by season’s end, and Chris Paul’s completely nonguaranteed $30 million contract for 2024-25 will remain a valuable trade chip. What if Kuminga or Moody pops to a different degree over the next few months, improving their standing, not just with the Warriors but also league-wide?</p><p>There’s still a chance Golden State moves Wiggins or Paul’s salary to clean up its books before the offseason while affording more on-court opportunities for Kuminga, Moody and Brandin Podziemski in what’s looking more and more like a lost season. The Warriors’ disinterest in giving up on Kuminga or Moody, both eligible for extension after 2023-24, even in a deal for Siakam suggests management has come to grips with that reality, content to wait for a more wholesale roster overhaul this summer rather than try for a last-hope quick fix that would require surrendering one of their best assets.</p><p>That’s a tough pill to swallow with Curry turning 36 in March, finally showing <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/warriors-news-stephen-currys-defiant-reaction-horrible-9-point-game-loss-vs-raptors" rel="noopener">sustained signs of slowing down</a>. But if this season really is the beginning of his inevitable decline from the top of the league’s individual hierarchy, it’s far more prudent to make sweeping changes in June and July that could best amplify Curry’s game rather than take one or two swings before Feb. 8, sapping the front office of maximum flexibility. Hanging onto Kuminga and Moody past the trade deadline is just a reflection of that painful foresight.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Raptors president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri has already engaged in trade talks with several teams involving Spicy P.</p><p>Last week, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-kings-still-interested-pascal-siakam-trade-theres-catch">the Raptors were</a> reportedly in discussions with the Sacramento Kings on a potential deal that would have created a big three of Siakam, De’Aaron Fox, and Domantas Sabonis in Sactown. The talks between the Raptors and the Kings fell apart, but Sacramento reportedly remains interested in swinging a trade for the All-Star forward.</p><p>On Tuesday, The Athletic <a href="https://theathletic.com/5207428/2024/01/16/pascal-siakam-raptors-pacers-trade-talks/">reported</a> that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-raptors-pacers-far-along-in-pascal-siakam-trade-talks">the Pacers were</a> “far along” in discussions on a Siakam trade with the Raptors. The deal reportedly involved Indiana sending a package that includes Bruce Brown and three first-round picks to Toronto.</p><p>Apart from those two, a couple of Western Conference playoff hopefuls have also been linked as potential landing spots <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/perfect-pascal-siakam-trade-warriors-must-offer-raptors">for the Raptors</a> All-NBA forward: the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks.</p><p>With so many suitors, Siakam has plenty of options to choose from should he ultimately decide he wants to leave Toronto. Siakam has some leverage in deciding his next destination as his current deal expires this summer. Several reports indicated that the Cameroonian won’t commit to re-sign to the team that trades for him and would prefer to explore his options in free agency. With that, rival teams may be reluctant in giving up too much for a potential rental. As such, this has affected the kind of package the Raptors could get in return for Siakam.</p><p>Nonetheless, those four teams will likely keep monitoring Siakam’s situation. With the rumors heating up, it might be a good idea to rank Pascal Siakam’s potential trade destinations with just about three weeks remaining until the February 8th trade deadline.</p><h2><b>4. Indiana Pacers</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/the-pascal-siakam-trade-pacers-must-make-asap-after-tyrese-haliburtons-injury.webp"></figure><p>Based on recent reports, the Pacers are the latest team to step up to the plate and discuss with the Raptors on a Pascal Siakam trade. As mentioned, Indiana reportedly offered Bruce Brown along with Buddy Hield and three first-round picks for the All-Star forward. In theory, that would be a massive return for the Raptors.</p><p>However, Toronto reportedly wants a similar return to what it received in the OG Anunoby deal — a package consisting of young talent whom they can build around Scottie Barnes. Based on this line of thinking, it seems like Masai Ujiri does not intend to rebuild through the draft, but rather, find pieces that could already complement their budding franchise star.</p><p>As great as Brown is in his role, that’s all he’ll ever be — a high level role player. He won’t really fit Toronto’s timeline. The same can be said about Hield, whose deal also expires this summer. Nonetheless, the three picks are still great assets and the Raptors could use them to either draft future prospects or include them in a potential trade in case a disgruntled star pops up on the market in the future.</p><p>In terms of fit, Siakam could be a great partner alongside budding star Tyrese Haliburton. His addition would help elevate the Pacers into a legitimate playoff team. But would he raise their ceiling enough to make them a real threat in the Eastern Conference alongside the likes of the Bucks, Celtics, and Sixers? Perhaps not this season, at least.</p><h2><b>3. Sacramento Kings</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/NBA_rumors_Kings_trying_to_package_Harrison_Barnes_Kevin_Huerter_as_Pascal_Siakam_trade_speculation_persists.webp"></figure><p>Sacramento hasn’t enjoyed the same success as it did a season ago. The starting lineup that proved to be an offensive juggernaut last year has already taken a dip. As such, the Kings reportedly want to make upgrades ahead of the trade deadline as they look to bolster their chance to make a deeper run in the playoffs this season.</p><p>As noted, the Kings and Raptors seemed close to agreeing on a trade for Pascal Siakam. But talks fell apart and the Kings pulled out of the discussions. The Raptors would ideally want to get someone like Keegan Murray in a Siakam trade. But there is no way Sacramento gives him up.</p><p>The Kings are reportedly focused on sending a package centered around Harrison Barnes and Kevin Huerter to Toronto. Huerter’s three-point shooting could certainly help the Raptors improve their outside shooting woes. Davion Mitchell could also be a piece they could add in the deal since he is just 25 years old and could be a solid backup guard who brings energy and tenacity on defense.</p><p>Nonetheless, it’s easy to see why the Kings are keen on trying to acquire Siakam. They would sacrifice some depth to get him. But he would certainly raise their ceiling a little higher than where they currently are right now. A trio of De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, and Siakam could elevate the Kings into the upper echelon of the Western Conference.</p><h2><b>2. Dallas Mavericks</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Mavs__Pascal_Siakam_trade_interest_doused_in_cold_water.webp"></figure><p>In terms of a trade destination, the Dallas Mavericks make the most sense for Pascal Siakam if he wants to win another NBA championship. Out of all the teams in this list, Dallas could have the highest ceiling in both the present and in the future. The pieces are there. They have a legitimate superstar in Luka Doncic along with a perfect co-star in the backcourt with Kyrie Irving. Siakam would be the “missing piece,” as the Mavs reportedly called him, that could truly elevate Dallas into championship contention.</p><p>However, do the Mavericks have the assets to make a run at Siakam? Knowing Masai Ujiri, they’d ideally want to get their hands on Derek Lively II in a deal for their All-Star forward. However, given what Lively has shown in his rookie year, the rapport he has established with Doncic, and their need for a defensive anchor, there is no way they part ways with him.</p><p>The ideal package the Mavs can offer consists of Tim Hardaway Jr. along with a mix of young prospects such as Jaden Hardy, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and Josh Green. The return won’t be as intriguing as that of  Golden State’s. Green doesn’t carry the same upside as Kuminga, while Hardy and Prosper haven’t played much to show what they could be capable of. Dallas will also only have its 2027 1st rounder to trade away, which is less than what other teams can give up.</p><p>Nonetheless, Dallas stands to benefit most in a Siakam deal as his arrival should make the Mavs a real title contender.</p><h2><b>1. Golden State Warriors</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Perfect_Pascal_Siakam_trade_Warriors_must_offer_Raptors.webp"></figure><p>In terms of a trade destination for Pascal Siakam, the Warriors also make sense given their championship pedigree, but to a lesser degree compared to the Mavs just because of where they currently stand this season. Nonetheless, Siakam would be the co-star Golden State has been looking for to pair with Stephen Curry. The Warriors are desperate to find more offensive help for the two-time MVP, especially with Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins’ production both falling off this season. Siakam is still a capable 20-point scorer who will help alleviate some of the scoring load off Curry.</p><p>Still, it’s worth wondering just how much Siakam will move the needle, this season at least, considering the Warriors need to give up a ton to acquire him. A package of either Andrew Wiggins or Chris Paul as the main salary pieces, along with Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody have been floated around as the Raptors’ desired return for Siakam. They also have a pair of first rounders they could add as sweeteners.</p><p>With that, the Warriors could have the best package to put together in a Siakam deal. Kuminga might be the most intriguing prospect and could have the highest upside among all the young guys that the Raptors could get for Siakam. However, would the Warriors be willing to give up their 2021 No. 7 overall pick, who is beginning to make strides this season despite having some run-ins with head coach Steve Kerr. Golden State is reportedly still high on Kuminga and even Moses Moody, who has also expressed his frustration over the lack of consistency in his role under Kerr.</p><p>Moody is another intriguing prospect whose skillset as a shooter and defender could mesh well with Barnes. He is also just 21 years old and if given the opportunity, he could really develop into a solid 3-and-D player under coach Darko Rajakovic.</p><p>Siakam alone won’t solve Golden State’s issues this season. But if the Warriors are able to keep him beyond this season, it’ll be intriguing just how Mike Dunleavy will revamp this roster this summer with a Curry and Siakam pairing.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Toronto Raptors are reportedly <a href="https://theathletic.com/5207428/2024/01/16/pascal-siakam-raptors-pacers-trade-talks/" rel="noopener">“far along”</a> in discussions on a trade that would send the two-time All-Star to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Bruce Brown and three first-round picks, according to Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic.</p><p>“The Raptors and Pacers are actively engaged in trade talks centered around two-time All-Star forward Pascal Siakam that would send him to Indiana for a package that includes Bruce Brown Jr., other salaries and three first-round draft picks, league sources tell <i>The Athletic</i>.”</p><p>Toronto has reportedly engaged in talks with several interested suitors on a Siakam deal, but negotiations with the Pacers have recently “gained steam.” While the teams are “far along” in the process and Indiana is clearly motivated to acquire Siakam, no trade is imminent, per The Athletic.</p><p>A long-rumored trade candidate, Siakam’s days with the Raptors appeared all but officially numbered a couple weeks ago when the team <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grading-og-anunoby-rj-barrett-immanuel-quickley-knicks-raptors-trade" rel="noopener">sent OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks</a> in exchange for Immanuel Quickly and RJ Barrett, telegraphing an on-the-fly rebuild around budding sophomore star Scottie Barnes. One player whose name currently gets brought up is Andrew Wiggins. Considering the Golden State Warriors’ quiet season, Wiggins and several others from the Bay Area have been looped in the said rumors. And supposedly, one team is eyeing the athletic forward: The Indiana Pacers.</p><p>Indiana was one of the franchises who were reportedly interested in OG Anunoby before he was eventually shipped by the Toronto Raptors to the New York Knicks. This has now led to speculations that the Pacers <a href="https://marcstein.substack.com/p/nba-trade-season-what-happens-next?utm_source=post-email-title&amp;publication_id=392205&amp;post_id=140680841&amp;utm_campaign=email-post-title&amp;isFreemail=false&amp;r=39f60&amp;utm_medium=email" rel="noopener">are a potential landing spot</a> for the 28-year-old Wiggins, as per NBA insider Marc Stein.</p><p>Taking into account <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-pacers-fell-just-shy-for-og-anunoby-but-pascal-siakam-trade-still-an-option" rel="noopener">Indiana’s failed bid</a> for an athletic, defensive-minded forward such as Anunoby, it’s understandable why the team is supposedly eyeing <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-pacers-keeping-tabs-warriors-andrew-wiggins-jonathan-kuminga-trade-deadline" rel="noopener">Wiggins as an alternative</a>. However, a few obstacles currently raise questions surrounding a potential deal.</p><h2>Why the Warriors could have difficulty shipping Wiggins to Indiana</h2><p>For starters, Wiggins’ offensive numbers are lower than Anunoby’s at the moment. Wiggins is averaging 11.7 points per game compared to Anunoby’s 14.9. Additionally, the Warriors have to try and convince other teams that Wiggins is worth the deal despite a drop in said numbers this season.</p><p>In January, Wiggins only started in three games for the Warriors after being relegated to the bench last month. His field goal percentage this season (41.8%) is lower than his previous season’s (47.3%). To make things harder for the Warriors, Wiggins is firing 29.5% from three-point range — a career-low and a major drop compared to his downtown efficiency last season at 39.6%.</p><p>Lastly, the Pacers have been on a tear, winning nine out of their last 11 games. Led by Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana’s current performance has placed them in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. As the team’s young roster continues to grow and build chemistry moving forward, their management might be hesitating to break up the current roster by bringing Andrew Wiggins in.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
