With Jalen Suggs expected to slot in as Orlando's starting point guard for the 2021-22 season, Markelle Fultz could take on the Sixth Man role for the Magic. That is as soon as he is able to recover from the knee injury that put an end to his 2020-21 campaign. Another candidate for this key role is second-year guard Cole Anthony. The former UNC standout should also put up a fight for the starting PG spot, but with the Magic heavily invested in Suggs, Cole could emerge as Orlando's Sixth Man. Anthony can get hot at any given time, and this type of firepower could be valuable for coach Jamahl Mosley coming off the bench.
Rookie Jalen Suggs, Orlando's fifth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, is expected to serve as the Magic's starting point guard for the 2021-22 season. Alongside him in the backcourt should be Garry Harris, who Orlando acquired from the Denver Nuggets last season. Veteran swingman Terrence Ross should occupy the starting three spot, while Wendell Carter Jr should slot into the starting center position. It will be interesting to see how Jonathan Isaac recovers over the next few months and how coach Jamahl Mosley intends to ease him back into the starting five. In the meantime, James Ennis should deputize as the starting PF in Isaac's stead.
