The Lakers are now awaiting the return of LeBron James, whom they hope will help them reach the next level with this team.</p><p>Due to the blowout nature of Saturday’s game in Milwaukee, Lakers head coach JJ Redick was able to put some of his reserves in toward the end of the game, including rookie Adou Thiero, who scored his first NBA basket in the win. After the game, the Lakers tried to secure the game ball for Thiero to hold onto, but for some strange reason, the referees on the court were not allowing it. However, Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo then stepped in and made sure Thiero got the ball in a heartwarming moment.</p><p>“At first, I didn’t even realize it was all for me, but I’m very thankful for this team, and I think that shows how connected we are and how much we want each other to succeed as a team,” said Thiero <a href="https://x.com/ClutchPoints/status/1990096488848867329" rel="noopener">after the game</a>, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.</p><h2><b>A nice win for the Lakers</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/os-Angeles-Lakers-guard-Luka-Doncic.jpg"><figcaption>© Alonzo Adams-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Los Angeles Lakers picked up easy road wins in back to back days over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday and the Bucks on Saturday to help shake off some of the bad vibes from earlier in their road trip.</p><p>On Sunday, the Lakers also got word from ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania that LeBron James is through practicing with the G League’s South Bay Lakers and will be rejoining the main squad now to practice.</p><p>In any case, the Lakers somehow have just one game in the next seven days, which will take place on Tuesday evening at home against the Utah Jazz at 10:30 PM ET.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

It’s a lasting memory for a young player that makes it “official” that they’re in the league. During the Los Angeles Lakers’ blowout win over the Milwaukee Bucks, rookie forward Adou Thiero scored his first NBA basket by making two free throws.</p><p>Of course, Thiero and the Lakers wanted the game ball as a souvenir of sorts for the rookie. However, the officials of the game refused to give the game ball up. Seeing the commotion, Giannis Antetokounmpo walked over to the Bucks staffer holding the ball, took it, and gave it to the Lakers group that formed. These refs, they just want to have their power or something, I don’t know. I don’t know what he was reaching for. That’s been a thing since way before I was in the league. What, was he going to take the ball home or something?”</p><p>This gesture with the Lakers is a far cry from the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/milwaukee-bucks/pacers-news-rick-carlisle-clarifies-game-ball-triggered-giannis-antetokounmpo">last time Antetokounmpo was involved with a game ball</a>. Against the Indiana Pacers two seasons ago, Antetokounmpo made the headlines. Like the Lakers, the Pacers wanted the game ball for their rookie at the time. However, Giannis was unwilling to give the ball up, as he also scored a career-high 64 points during that game.</p><p>Thiero, the Lakers’ second-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, was able to get a chance to play due to LA blowing out the Bucks. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-news-no-lebron-james-no-problem-luka-doncic-clinic-bucks">Luka Doncic was once again excellent, dropping 41 points, six assists, and nine rebounds</a>. However, on draft night the Lakers managed to trade up in the draft, acquiring the No. 36 overall pick. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-news-draft-sec-star-adou-thiero-trade-timberwolves">Lakers used that pick to select Adou Thiero</a> from Arkansas, and as he <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-news-las-contract-details-intriguing-2nd-rounder-acquired-trade-up">prepares for his rookie season in the NBA</a>, there is one particular skill he feels he can help the team with right away in defense.</p><p>“I see myself as somebody who can do that. Just being able to go in and give the team another push on the defensive side if needed,” Thiero said during Media Day. “Just being a physical defender and doing what I can on that defensive side, showing my motor.”</p><p>Unfortunately for Lakers fans, they will have to wait a bit to see Adou Thiero’s rookie debut this season. Thiero is still recovering from a knee injury he suffered back while he was still in college. During a media availability session on Tuesday, Lakers head coach JJ Redick remarked that Thiero had surgery on the knee and is <a href="https://x.com/ECreates88/status/1973186316474126566" rel="noopener">beginning his ramp-up process</a>, as per Edwin Garcia of Silver Screen and Roll.</p><p>Thiero spent his junior year at Arkansas before declaring for the NBA Draft. He originally committed to Kentucky and played two seasons for the Wildcats. But following John Calipari’s departure and subsequent hiring as Razorbacks head coach, Thiero entered the transfer portal and followed Calipari to Arkansas.</p><p>During his lone season with the Razorbacks, Thiero appeared in 27 games, including 26 starts, at a little over 27 minutes per game. He averaged a career-high 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals with splits of 54.5 percent shooting from the field, 25.6 percent shooting from the three-point line and 68.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line.</p><p>While an exact timetable for Thiero’s return to the court is uncertain, he welcomed the possibility of playing in the G League with South Bay in order get development reps in.</p><p>“Yes, of course. However, before that, the Dodgers manager Dave Roberts even offered the Lakers stars pitching pointers before they stepped onto the mound. </p><p>The event took place just a day after Kobe Bryant was honored at the stadium with a special bobblehead and a first pitch thrown by his daughter Bianka. The Dodgers are the defending World Series champions and seem on track for another title.
