Kellerman added, “That to me, is fate of the universe on the line.”</p><h2><b>Why Kellerman trusts Iguodala in the moment</b></h2><p>Once he laid out the reasoning, Kellerman circled back to the original statement. He stressed he never claimed Iguodala was a better shooter. His argument focused on trust during one specific type of moment when pressure crushes the court. Kellerman said a player like Iguodala gives him confidence because “if he has the shot, he’s gonna take it and nail it.”</p><p>He also noted that his viral declaration came during an argument with Stephen A. While <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-draymond-green-defending-domantas-sabonis-stomp">Green reflected on controversial moments throughout his career</a>, he chimed in on the criticism that followed Durant for joining a team he and the Thunder had a 3-1 lead against in the Western Conference Finals.</p><p>Green pointed out that Iguodala, who played for the Denver Nuggets in 2012-13, did the same as Durant when the Warriors eliminated Denver, 4-2, in the Western Conference quarterfinal series before Andre joined Golden State the following summer. Still, Iguodala <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIt1OxDX0Wg" rel="noopener">never faced the kind of backlash</a> that pursued Durant, Green said via Kai Cenat’s live stream.</p><p>“They’re really only hating because it’s KD. Because Andre Iguodala did the same thing. We beat them in the playoffs. He signed with the Warriors,” Green said. “So people only hating like that because he’s KD. Hell, Andre Iguodala did the same thing — nobody said a word. Also, we lost. The difference between losing a championship and winning it — I just told you — it’s drastic. Like, you don’t get a token for making it to the Finals.</p><p>“We f****** lost. There’s no guarantee we’re ever going back. So, when he came and joined the team, he didn’t join some championship team. We just f****** lost,” Green concluded.</p><p>Still, many viewed Kevin Durant’s as a traitor. Given how close the Thunder were to beating the Warriors, Durant was the subject of ridcule for forming one of the most dominant teams in NBA history. The Warriors were led by a 36-point <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-stephen-curry-goat-take-steve-kerr-game-3-masterpiece">performance from Stephen Curry</a>, who held down the fort in the absence of co-star Jimmy Butler, still recovering from a hard fall he took in Game 1.</p><p>Still, Butler made his impact on the game felt by constantly cheering on his teammates from the sidelines as well as giving advice during timeouts. After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr lauded Butler’s leadership <a href="https://x.com/BrettSiegelNBA/status/1916344883423347065" rel="noopener">and also complimented</a> his impeccable fashion sense.</p><p>“First, he had a fantastic coat on,” said Kerr, per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. “He’s so smart. He reminds me so much of Andre Iguodala, incredible basketball IQ and the ability to communicate what he’s seeing to see his teammates from the bench.”</p><p>Basketball IQ was indeed one of the major reasons that the Warriors were motivated to bring in Butler at this past trade deadline. Butler has made several deep playoff runs throughout his career with the Miami Heat and is helping to impart that wisdom on some of his younger Warriors teammates in this series, even while he’s out of action.</p><h2>A<b> big opportunity for the Warriors</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Draymond-Green-2_038cb4.jpg"><figcaption>Darren Yamashita-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>There’s a chance that Butler could return to the lineup for the Warriors on Monday evening when they look to take a 3-1 stranglehold on this series. Warriors fans are well-versed in the fact that 3-1 leads are not foolproof, but the team would still feel very confident about its chances should they put this young Rockets squad on the brink of elimination.</p><p>If Butler is indeed able to return, it would take a lot of the pressure off of Stephen Curry offensively, which in turn could allow him to also use more of his energy on the defensive end of the floor.</p><p>It would also allow head coach Steve Kerr to sit Curry a bit more than he was able to during Saturday’s game.</p><p>In any case, Game 4 between the Rockets and Warriors is slated for Monday evening at 10:00 PM ET from the Chase Center.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

DiVincenzo noted how Iguodala’s ability to stay mentally and physically prepared despite limited minutes stood out.</p><p>“So somebody like him who’s had [a] helluva career and you’re not playing and you can be like, ‘alright, I’m not playing for the whole season,’” DiVincenzo said. “But then when you’re thrown in there to still be productive is super hard to do.”</p><p>DiVincenzo played in 72 games with the Warriors that season, averaging 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 43.5% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range. Golden State’s title defense ended in the second round of the 2023 playoffs with a six-game loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.</p><p>Though Iguodala’s statistical output declined in his final years, his veteran presence remained vital. The Warriors acknowledged his contributions with a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-andre-igoudala-final-thank-you-message-jersey-ceremony">jersey retirement ceremony during their Feb. 23 matchup against the Dallas Mavericks</a>, which Golden State won at Chase Center. Not only did they move to 5-1 in the Jimmy Butler era by defeating the Dallas Mavericks, 126-102, they also honored one of the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-stephen-curry-message-andre-iguodala-jersey-retirement">pillars of their near-decade-long dynasty in Andre Iguodala</a>, retiring his jersey number nine and hanging it on the Chase Center rafters, never to be worn by any other player in the franchise.</p><p>Iguodala was part of the Warriors from 2013 to 2019, and then he rejoined the team in 2021, winning four championships in the process. He’s so ingrained within the franchise’s culture that there were certainly plenty of unforgettable moments that the team shared with him throughout his illustrious stint with the team. Regardless, one memory stands out for Stephen Curry — even nearly 10 years later after it happened.</p><p>Speaking to reporters after the Warriors’ win over the Mavericks, Curry revealed that <a href="https://twitter.com/KNBR/status/1893829485088186855" rel="noopener">his favorite memory</a> of Iguodala came after their 2015 NBA Finals triumph when the former saw the latter drink a shot of heavy liquor.</p><p>“He wasn’t a big drinker. After we won the first championship in Cleveland, having a first shot with him. That was a big moment. It took a championship to get him to take a shot of tequila,” Curry said, via KNBR on X (formerly Twitter). “He loosened some of his personal rules and had a good night with us.
