The Warriors were led by a 36-point <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-stephen-curry-goat-take-steve-kerr-game-3-masterpiece">performance from Stephen Curry</a>, who held down the fort in the absence of co-star Jimmy Butler, still recovering from a hard fall he took in Game 1.</p><p>Still, Butler made his impact on the game felt by constantly cheering on his teammates from the sidelines as well as giving advice during timeouts. After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr lauded Butler’s leadership <a href="https://x.com/BrettSiegelNBA/status/1916344883423347065" rel="noopener">and also complimented</a> his impeccable fashion sense.</p><p>“First, he had a fantastic coat on,” said Kerr, per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. “He’s so smart. He reminds me so much of Andre Iguodala, incredible basketball IQ and the ability to communicate what he’s seeing to see his teammates from the bench.”</p><p>Basketball IQ was indeed one of the major reasons that the Warriors were motivated to bring in Butler at this past trade deadline. Butler has made several deep playoff runs throughout his career with the Miami Heat and is helping to impart that wisdom on some of his younger Warriors teammates in this series, even while he’s out of action.</p><h2>A<b> big opportunity for the Warriors</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Draymond-Green-2_038cb4.jpg"><figcaption>Darren Yamashita-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>There’s a chance that Butler could return to the lineup for the Warriors on Monday evening when they look to take a 3-1 stranglehold on this series. Warriors fans are well-versed in the fact that 3-1 leads are not foolproof, but the team would still feel very confident about its chances should they put this young Rockets squad on the brink of elimination.</p><p>If Butler is indeed able to return, it would take a lot of the pressure off of Stephen Curry offensively, which in turn could allow him to also use more of his energy on the defensive end of the floor.</p><p>It would also allow head coach Steve Kerr to sit Curry a bit more than he was able to during Saturday’s game.</p><p>In any case, Game 4 between the Rockets and Warriors is slated for Monday evening at 10:00 PM ET from the Chase Center.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Golden State’s title defense ended in the second round of the 2023 playoffs with a six-game loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.</p><p>Though Iguodala’s statistical output declined in his final years, his veteran presence remained vital. Not only did they move to 5-1 in the Jimmy Butler era by defeating the Dallas Mavericks, 126-102, they also honored one of the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-stephen-curry-message-andre-iguodala-jersey-retirement">pillars of their near-decade-long dynasty in Andre Iguodala</a>, retiring his jersey number nine and hanging it on the Chase Center rafters, never to be worn by any other player in the franchise.</p><p>Iguodala was part of the Warriors from 2013 to 2019, and then he rejoined the team in 2021, winning four championships in the process. He’s so ingrained within the franchise’s culture that there were certainly plenty of unforgettable moments that the team shared with him throughout his illustrious stint with the team. Regardless, one memory stands out for Stephen Curry — even nearly 10 years later after it happened.</p><p>Speaking to reporters after the Warriors’ win over the Mavericks, Curry revealed that <a href="https://twitter.com/KNBR/status/1893829485088186855" rel="noopener">his favorite memory</a> of Iguodala came after their 2015 NBA Finals triumph when the former saw the latter drink a shot of heavy liquor.</p><p>“He wasn’t a big drinker. After we won the first championship in Cleveland, having a first shot with him. That was a big moment. It took a championship to get him to take a shot of tequila,” Curry said, via KNBR on X (formerly Twitter). “He loosened some of his personal rules and had a good night with us. For the Golden State Warriors, they have been in a state of transition over the past few years, and this past offseason, they most notably lost Klay Thompson in free agency to the Dallas Mavericks — officially ending the Splash Brothers era that netted the Dubs four championship rings.</p><p>But on Sunday night, during the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-andre-iguodala-announces-golden-state-honor">Warriors’ jersey retirement ceremony</a> for one of the most important players of their dynasty, Andre Iguodala, Thompson went out and showed the love even after him and the Mavs were on the receiving end of a 126-102 loss. Iguodala is one of them; he sacrificed personal stats and glory and became the Sixth Man for three championship-winning teams, even winning NBA Finals MVP honors in 2015.</p><p>Thompson and Iguodala have built quite the strong rapport over the years, and nothing, not even the former’s decision to join the Mavericks or the latter’s decision to retire, would ever change that. And it should not be long before the Warriors hang Thompson’s iconic number 11 in the rafters alongside Iguodala’s number nine.</p><h2><b>Andre Iguodala helped define the Warriors’ decade of greatness</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Andre-Iguodala-and-Stephen-Curry-during-a-game.jpg"><figcaption>© Kyle Terada-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Little did everyone know back in 2013 when the Warriors signed Iguodala that he would become part one of the most iconic dynasties in NBA history. And when Steve Kerr came in and became the team’s head coach, Iguodala willingly sacrificed his starting role for the greater good, showing why he was the ultimate glue guy.</p><p>In 2022, Iguodala’s impact was felt even though he was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/warriors-news-klay-thompson-speaks-out-on-andre-iguodala-unseen-impact-on-golden-state">no longer a part of the Warriors’ playoff rotation</a>. He became the team’s elder statesman and a crucial veteran who was in the ear of Thompson and fellow wing Andrew Wiggins at all times. Iguodala may not be the flashiest player in the world, but he is the quintessential fill-in-the-gaps player who, in the immortal words of Max Kellerman, can save planet Earth when the “Martians have the death beam” pointed on the planet.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

On Sunday during the Warriors’ game against the Dallas Mavericks, they honored a specific member of that team <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/warriors-news-stephen-curry-drops-andre-iguodala-truth-ahead-of-jersey-retirement">with Andre Iguodala’s jersey retirement ceremony</a>. A fitting honor for the 2015 Finals MVP. During Andre Iguodala’s jersey retirement, Stephen Curry <a href="https://x.com/warriors/status/1893814281491157100" rel="noopener">had a strong message</a> for his former teammate.</p><p>“We talked about our dynasty years, the championships, the Finals MVPs, all the big shots, the big moments you had, the real ones they know where it all started,” Stephen Curry said.</p><p>“I remember Game 6 in 2013, you were on the Denver Nuggets. We were the young, scrappy Warriors who were trying to cement ourselves in the playoffs. We had the fortunate of beating you that series, but the first thing after the horn went off, you ran across the court and you found me,” Curry continued. “I could feel that you saw something. Fast-forward four months later. . .you were the first one to choose us. And that meant the world for a team that was trying to figure it out.”</p><p>Following the Warriors’ playoff series win against the Nuggets in 2013, Iguodala ended up joining the Warriors via a sign-and-trade deal also involving the Utah Jazz. Iguodala went on to play a major role during the 2015, 2017 and 2018 Golden State championship runs.</p><p>Iguodala played eight consecutive seasons for the Warriors before they traded him to the Miami Heat following the 2018-19 season. He would return to the franchise as a free agent ahead of the 2021-22 season. He was part of the 2022 title team, albeit not quite having the same impact, and he announced his retirement after the 2022-23 season.</p><p>During Iguodala’s eight total seasons with the Warriors, he averaged 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals with splits of 48 percent shooting from the field, 33.2 percent shooting from the three-point line and 63.8 percent shooting from the free-throw line.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
