The Heat would be looking to land Rui Hachimura and his expiring contract, plus further expiring money to match salaries.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/nba-rumors-lakers-check-in-with-heat-on-andrew-wiggins-trade">After reporting the Lakers checked in</a> with the Heat about Wiggins’ price, sources tell ClutchPoints that trade talks have advanced to the next step, though nothing is considered imminent as of right now. ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel previously reported <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/celtics-offseason-trade-intel-after-jayson-tatum-injury-siegels-scoop">Miami has made Wiggins very available</a> so far this summer and has <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/2025-nba-draft-big-board-5-0-76ers-final-ace-bailey-vj-edgecombe-decision">maintained that stance</a>.</p><p>Wiggins, 30, is coming off a solid season in which he averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and just under a steal per night while shooting 45% from the floor, 37% from 3-point range and 76% from the line. He played 60 games between his stints with the Golden State Warriors and Heat, after being the centerpiece of the Jimmy Butler trade.</p><p>Hachimura, 27, also had a really nice year for the Lakers, averaging 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and a little less than a steal per night on 51/41/77 shooting splits. He has improved every year he has been a Laker and is quite popular throughout the organization.</p><p>A Wiggins-Hachimura swap wouldn’t work straight up, so one of either Maxi Kleber or Gabe Vincent’s contracts would have to also be included. League sources believe Miami would push for Dalton Knecht in the trade, as the Lakers may not want to trade their 2031 or ’32 first-round pick before they address their vacant center position. Miami might also look to move Kyle Anderson and the two years, $18.8 million left on his contract.</p><p>If the Lakers push to keep Hachimura out of the trade, they would almost certainly have to include some first-round draft capital, as well as either the No. 55 pick in this year’s draft or a future pick swap, though sources do indicate Miami likes Hachimura’s shooting ability at his size.</p><p>Now, fans may be wondering why the Lakers would entertain this kind of deal while their center spot is in such dire straits, but league sources say Rob Pelinka hasn’t been thrilled with the asking prices he has been presented with this summer in trade talks. If they went ahead with this deal or something similar, look for the Lakers to acquire next year’s starting center with their mid-level exception. As things stand right now, they would have access to the taxpayer mid-level exception, worth $5.7 million.</p><p>It’s also possible these kinds of rumors are being floated so that those teams the Lakers have been holding trade talks with for a starting center might believe they’re serious about using their trade assets on something else if prices for centers don’t drop. This is smokescreen season, after all.</p><p>For the Lakers, this deal would make sense as so much of their salary cap is devoted to players who naturally defend power forwards. They desperately lacked footspeed on the perimeter last season and Wiggins addresses that issue. His ability to knock down open triples makes him one of the more popular wings on the market this offseason.</p><p>For the Heat, they land a younger wing in Hachimura and a lot more financial flexibility than they currently have to work with. If Knecht is also included in the trade, they’d be able to maximize his potential in their development program, which has a nice track record of molding young players with his skill set.</p><p>Again, nothing is necessarily imminent, but whispers on this front have been swirling over the last week or so and these conversations are expected to continue as the league heads into Wednesday’s first round of the draft.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Despite the limited availability due to injuries, he has been productive, though the playoff series against Cleveland has been underwhelming.</p><p>Still, he has a tough mindset, which is shared by the rest of the team, despite having a 0-3 series deficit, as no team has ever come back from. While the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/cleveland-cavaliers/cavs-news-darius-garland-reveals-clevelands-tyler-herro-tactic-amid-2-0-series-lead">Heat look to overcome the 0-2 series deficit,</a> the team will have some decisions to make, especially regarding Andrew Wiggins.</p><p>The former Golden State Warriors star is considered to be the third option for Miami after Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, but was not used in the fourth quarter when the team trailed by just two points with around four minutes left. Head coach Erik Spoelstra would explain that Wiggins was at the scoring table, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS7kynb_ySw&amp;t=1s" rel="noopener">but ultimately went with the closing group</a> of Herro, Adebayo, Davion Mitchell, Nikola Jovic, and Haywood Highsmith.</p><p>“We had taken it all the way to [a two-point deficit], I thought about it,” Spoelstra said via the team’s YouTube page. “I actually put him at the scorer’s table at six to go, and the group wanted to keep on pushing through,” Spoelstra said when asked why Wiggins didn’t play in the fourth quarter. “We stayed with it. But, obviously, he’ll be very important the rest of the series.”</p><p>As Spoelstra said, it could imply that the decision to keep Wiggins out of the fourth quarter was a one-time occasion, and riding the momentum during the fourth quarter, where the team made a huge run to make the game competitive. In the loss, Wiggins would score 10 points on three of 10 shooting from the field.</p><h2><b>Heat’s starting lineup looked different with Davion Mitchell</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Davion-Mitchell-on-April-23-2025.jpg"><figcaption>David Richard-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>With the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-andrew-wiggins-finds-beautiful-bright-side-after-game-1-loss-to-cavs">Heat looking for bright sides</a> heading into Game 3, the one that could be looked at was another lineup change in Davion Mitchell who started the contest, the first time since March 12. The reason being per Spoelstra was for the team “to organize” as Mitchell gets players like Herro and Wiggins off the ball.</p><p>“It was a couple different factors with that,” Spoelstra said. “We wanted to be able to organize ourselves offensively at the start, a little bit better. Get Tyler off the ball, [Andrew Wiggins] off the ball. Then, obviously, some defensive presence. His competitive spirit on the ball was very good all night, and you’re dealing with two guards who can put a lot of pressure on you.”</p><p>Mitchell has been an underrated asset for Miami ever since being dealt from the Toronto Raptors as part of the multi-team trade including Jimmy Butler. Despite being a newcomer, the team has shown its trust in Mitchell as <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNGWs40OpHI" rel="noopener">he echoed the same sentiments.</a></p><p>“He trusted me all season,” Mitchell said via the team’s YouTube page as he scored 18 points while recording six assists.  “I played starting minutes, so I mean, he’s kind of been trusting me anyway, but it’s just giving Cleveland a different look, especially with the starting lineup. They put a lot of pressure on Tyler [Herro]. They kind of deny him the whole game. So I just try to open things up for him.”</p><h2><b>Heat’s Nikola Jovic plays a meaningful 25 minutes </b></h2><p>Another lineup change was the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-returning-youngster-takes-blame-for-unacceptable-failures-in-game-2-vs-cavs">return of Heat young star Nikola Jovic</a> as he played his first meaningful minutes since first suffering from a broken hand in late February. While showing the talent that he can bring, it was a rough and rusty outing for Jovic as he scored 11 points on four of 12 shooting from the field and one of eight from deep to go along with six rebounds.</p><p>While Jovic would blame himself for Miami’s loss with the late-game misses and mistakes, Spoelstra would commend his return, saying he makes the team look “different.” This was also repeated by Mitchell who has not got too many reps due to the injury.</p><p>“It’s just a different threat, different look,” Mitchell said. “A taller guy who can put the ball on the ground, who can make really good decisions, who can shoot the ball. He can do everything for us. He’s going to be a key part of this series. They got to guard him, you know what I’m saying. And they got to put a good defender on him. As the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-bam-adebayo-reveals-first-goal-miami-must-hit-to-ruin-historical-cavs-season">Heat look to steal one in Cleveland</a>, there isn’t much disappointment in the locker room, especially from someone like Andrew Wiggins.</p><p>Wiggins would finish the game with 14 points on five of 11 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds, two assists, and a steal. He would say after the loss on Sunday night that there is a<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Yj82W2QYYc" rel="noopener"> “beautiful”</a> aspect about the postseason, which is that “every game is different,” according to video from the team’s YouTube channel.</p><p>“The beautiful thing about playoffs is every game is different,” Wiggins said. “Every game is its own game. So, next game will be a big one.”</p><p>The Cavaliers were in rhythm from the get-go and played the game to the pace of their liking as they shot 51.1 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from deep as Donovan Mitchell led with 30 points while Darius Garland had 28. They would also get contributions from Ty Jerome, who exploded with 28 off the bench as Davion Mitchell spoke about the lack of a “drop-off” their opponents have.</p><p>“That’s what makes that team really good and the [No. 1 offense],” Mitchell said as he scored 18 points, recorded nine assists, and collected four rebounds. “That makes them good because when one of them goes out, you got Ty Jerome coming in. The team’s shot chart is head-scratching as the Heat only had five shots at the rim the entire game, but never found total footing on offense with Cleveland playing at a commanding tempo.</p><p>“<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXQiNKIsuh4" rel="noopener">You get to the playoffs</a>, there are going to be dynamic offensive teams,” Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra said. “And they have guys that drive and break you down off the dribble, and they can also just shoot pull-up threes, and they’re very good spot-up shooters, as well. So that’s the task, and it’s up to us to figure out how to beat that.”</p><p>Heat star Tyler Herro would finish with 21 points on seven of 18 shooting from the field as Cleveland made it tough for the 25-year-old to get any open looks and budge in any way for him to find an advantage. Besides talking about his game, he said Miami “lacked a lot of communication.”</p><p>“They’re a historically good offense,” Herro said. “Obviously, they’re No. 1 in the East for a reason. That move changed the course of this 2024-25 campaign for Golden State, as a team that once seemed destined for the play-in is now comfortably a playoff team.</p><p>Butler was obviously the best player in that trade, but the Warriors still gave up valuable pieces to get him to the Bay Area and end his long standoff with the Miami Heat.</p><p>Wiggins was a big-time contributor for Golden State, but a Western Conference executive thinks the difference between him and Butler goes <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/44617316/nba-playoff-intel-doom-lakers-warriors-grizzlies-postseason-runs" rel="noopener">beyond just the stat sheet</a>, via Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.</p><p>“The most important thing is their confidence, not their record. People think Steph and Dray don’t need confidence, but they all do. [Andrew] Wiggins didn’t always have that, and you could tell. Jimmy has provided that,” a West executive said, per Bontemps and Windhorst. “I would not want to play them in any round.”</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/warriors-news-golden-state-standings-tiebreaker-scenarios-clippers-game">Warriors are playing for their playoff seeding</a> on Sunday against the LA Clippers. If they win, they will get the No. 6 spot in the postseason but are in serious danger of falling into the play-in if they were to lose. That would be a huge disappointment for the Warriors after the hot streak that they have been on since the trade.</p><p>There is no question that the Warriors have been playing with a different edge since the trade and are a dangerous team for anybody to play in a playoff series. Golden State has championship experience with Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green and is hot coming into the postseason.</p><p>The West is loaded at this point in the season, and there is still plenty to be decided on Sunday when it comes to the playoff seeding. You got to be 100 percent, so I felt good.”</p><p>Before Wednesday and including the last six games missed, Wiggins has been absent for 15 of the 30 contests for Miami since being traded from the Golden State Warriors. He’s dealt with a myriad of issues since the deadline, though when he’s on the court, he’s been productive as after the defeat in Chicago, the 30-year-old is averaging 19.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 46.6 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from deep.</p><p>The former No. 1 overall pick also spoke about it felt “good being back” with his new teammates as he’s been “putting in work” to get back healthy enough to push for a hopeful postseason run.</p><p>“Yeah. I mean, just rehabbing, putting in work, trying to fix, you know, the issue, and it feels good being back,” Wiggins said. “You know, the team fighting, it’s a big game we lost, but just got to stay with it and believe in ourselves. Despite the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-bam-adebayo-andrew-wiggins-get-crucial-injury-updates-from-erik-spoelstra">Heat missing Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins</a>, the rest of the unit led a collective effort resulting in the snapping of the two-game losing skid.</p><p>While it was expected for Tyler Herro to have a bigger role than usual tonight, it was more of a <a href="https://x.com/ZachWeinberger/status/1909443617892061198" rel="noopener">“collective effort”</a> for the team as six scored in double-digits while filling the statsheet which makes them “difficult to guard” as said by head coach Erik Spoelstra.</p><p>“We’ve been playing that way for a while, quite a while,” Spoelstra said. “You know, especially guys in and out of the lineup. With the absences, Miami went with the starting lineup of Herro, Pelle Larsson, Alec Burks, Haywood Highsmith, and Ware.</p><p>It was mostly a back-and-forth affair in the period, though the start was a bit rocky for the team as the starting lineup was getting accustomed to one another in real-time. Still, the team would get into a groove as the quarter closed, scoring 29 points on 12 of 25 shooting from the field and even making five of their nine attempts from three-point range.</p><p>The rookie in Larsson would lead the way in that period with eight points and finished the first half with 12, which led the entire team. Coming off the thigh contusion, Herro had eight in the first 24 minutes while the other rookie in Ware had eight points as well along with 11 rebounds.</p><p>Miami’s second period would be significantly better as they scored 32 points leading to a collective effort from everybody rather than one player standing out from the rest. The ball moved well in the period as on 11 made shots from the field, eight of them were off assists.</p><h2><b>Rocky second half for Heat, but finish strong</b></h2><p>As the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-why-erik-spoelstra-isnt-shocked-about-turnaround-after-10-game-skid">Heat are looking to get back to their winning ways</a>, the third quarter was a step backwards in regards to recent play as while at once they had a 14-point lead, it was lost with under six minutes left in the period. In the quarter as a whole, Miami was outscored 30-22 as Philadelphia’s Quentin Grimes had a 15-point period where he shot four of nine from there field with all his makes from deep.</p><p>Herro would have five points in the duration as there is no doubt his performance could be seen as underwhelming since he’s the clear No. 1 player without Adebayo and Wiggins. What has been lethal for Herro is his three-point shooting but heading into the fourth quarter, he only shot it three times from deep as more were attempted from Highsmith, Burks, and even Jaime Jaquez Jr., an aspect that has to change.</p><p>One could point to the thigh contusion as possibly being a factor, or it could mean that he was being heavily defended against, though that’s been a trend all season. However, it could be amplified since Adebayo and Wiggins missed the game with the 76ers forcing others on Miami to come up big.</p><p>Fortunately, the supporting cast of the Heat would come through leading to a 34-point final frame where as Herro closed the game out with 20 points, there was five others that finished in double-digits. Robinson led with 21, Ware had 19 points and 17 rebounds, Larsson and Mitchell had 12, and finally Burks had 11.</p><h2><b>Heat win but focus now on injuries to Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins</b></h2><p>With the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-erik-spoelstra-gets-100-real-on-potential-play-in-tournament-x-factor">Heat looking to solidify their play-in tournament seed</a>, the team would like to have a healthy roster heading into the tourney though that’s in question at the current moment. Both Bam Adebayo and Wiggins missed Monday’s game which doesn’t even include Nikola Jovic who is still absent due to a broken hand.</p><p>Adebayo is dealing with back spasms that flared up since Saturday against Milwaukee where Spoelstra said to ClutchPoints before Monday’s contest that he’ll be considered “day-to-day.”</p><p>“Really just since the game. Miami has a prime opportunity to secure a win against the lowly Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night, but there are a <a href="https://official.nba.com/nba-injury-report-2024-25-season/" rel="noopener">number of key players on the injury report</a>, including Bam Adebayo.</p><p>The Heat had already announced Sunday <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/heat-news-tyler-herros-injury-status-vs-76ers-after-missing-heartbreaking-bucks-game">that both Tyler Herro</a> and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/heat-news-andrew-wiggins-sheds-light-on-return-from-frustrating-hamstring-injury">Andrew Wiggins would be questionable</a> for Monday’s game against the 76ers. Adebayo is now also questionable due to left back spasms.</p><p>The star big man played 43 minutes in a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-how-good-loss-to-bucks-could-serve-as-miami-learning-experience">heartbreaking 121-115 overtime loss</a> to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. Adebayo scored 31 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and handed out five assists in the loss. Both Herro and Wiggins didn’t play in that game due to their respective injuries. Herro is dealing with a right thigh contusion after scoring 35 points in a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies last Thursday. Wiggins hasn’t played since March 27 due to a right hamstring injury, which has been “frustrating” during this crucial stretch of the season.</p><p>Miami might not need all these guys to beat a Philly team that has lost 11 games in a row, but being without all of them would make things a bit trickier. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/timberwolves-news-chris-finch-calls-out-minnesota-76ers-game">Sixers did just almost take down the Minnesota Timberwolves</a> over the weekend, and Quentin Grimes continues to play well. Still, Erik Spoelstra and Co. will play it safe if they have to do so.</p><p>The Heat are currently the No. 10 seed in the East, a game behind the Chicago Bulls, two games behind the Atlanta Hawks and three games behind the Orlando Magic. While the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-why-playoff-basketball-is-making-miami-tougher-despite-grizzlies-loss">Heat feel its getting tougher</a> after another highly competitive game, another one comes up against the Milwaukee Bucks where such stars as Tyler Herro and Andrew Wiggins have their status in question.</p><p>Herro is coming off a productive stretch during the six-game winning streak and the loss on Thursday where he’s averaging 28.9 points per game, but is coming into the contest questionable with a <a href="https://x.com/MiamiHEAT/status/1908251933690958196" rel="noopener">“right thigh contusion.”</a> Plus, Wiggins will miss the upcoming outing once again with a hamstring issue along with Kevin Love who is dealing with “personal reasons” according to the team.</p><p>INJURY UPDATE: Andrew Wiggins (hamstring) and Kevin Love (personal reasons) have both been ruled out of tomorrow night’s game vs the Bucks,” the team’s official X, formerly Twitter, account wrote. “Tyler Herro (right thigh contusion) is listed as questionable.”</p><p>Haywood Highsmith is also questionable with left Achilles soreness and Duncan Robinson is available with “Left Sacroiliac Joint; Dysfunction.”</p><p>Looking at Herro, he finished with 35 points in the loss to Memphis where he scored 19 in the third period leading to a back-and-forth affair between the two teams. He’s made enormous strides this season on the court leading to his first All-Star appearance amid his best season yet, especially health-wise as he’s played in a career-high 74 games so far this season.</p><h2><b>Andrew Wiggins’ availability with the Heat has been a concern</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Andrew-Wiggins-on-March-25-2025.jpg"><figcaption>Sam Navarro-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Looking at the former Golden State Warrior, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/miami-heat/heat-news-why-andrew-wiggins-fresh-miami-start-doesnt-erase-steve-kerr-warriors-history">Heat newcomer in Andrew Wiggins</a> was looking for a fresh start with the team and while he’s performed well on the court, the availability has been a concern. Not only will Wiggins miss his fifth straight game with the hamstring injury, but his 12th game total since the trade as he’s had issues with a sprained ankle, a lower left contusion, and even missed a game with a stomach illness.</p><p>Still, head coach Erik Spoelstra said he’s seen Miami’s <a href="https://x.com/ZachWeinberger/status/1907987581523964197" rel="noopener">“competitive edge”</a> become “stronger,” being more impressed that it’s happening without Wiggins.</p><p>“It’s playoff basketball,” Spoelstra said to ClutchPoints. “We feel fully comfortable in these kind of games. Our guys are enjoying this. They feel fully alive from the competition. The locker room is very disappointed right now, but we gave ourselves enough opportunities to win, you have to make some plays. But this competitive edge, it’s getting stronger.”</p><p>“There’s a collective will that I like seeing out of this group, and we’re getting more comfortable,” Spoelstra continued. “With different guys being able to make plays in the fourth quarter. While the Golden State Warriors have been <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/jimmy-butler-money-mouth-warriors-contend-championship">playing championship-level basketball since acquiring Jimmy Butler,</a> they lost a vital piece of their 2022 championship squad in the deal.</p><p>Green has spent his entire career in Golden State. However, <a href="https://x.com/ClutchPoints/status/1907523177984790836" rel="noopener">during a recent episode</a> of the Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis, the four-time champion revealed the collateral damage of Wiggins’ departure. </p><p>“It was weird. You’ve gone to war with the guy for the last, what, five years? And won a championship, built the relationship.”</p><p>During his 307-game run with the Warriors, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/warriors-news-andrew-wiggins-warning-nba-after-winning-2022-title">Wiggins won an NBA title</a> and averaged 16.7 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.2 assists per contest.</p><h2><b>Draymond Green’s kids feel Andrew Wiggins’ departure</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Andrew-Wiggins-on-March-25-2025.jpg"><figcaption>Sam Navarro-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>However, Wiggins and Green’s children felt the brunt of the trade that jettisoned Wiggins from Golden State.</p><p>“My kids cried when they found out Wiggs was gone because his kids and my kids have a great relationship,” Green told co-host Baron Davis. “They cried when they found out. And I told Wiggs, because I saw him right after the deadline and All-Star break, ‘Man, my kids were crying when they found out your girls were gone.'”</p><p>“He was like, ‘Bruh, that’s the only thing Amyah (Wiggins’ eldest daughter) kept saying, “Wait, so I don’t get to see my friends anymore?”’ So, there’s so much more than just basketball there.”</p><p>It’s rare to see Green speak this affectionately about an ex-teammate. Wiggins wasn’t a Warrior as long as Klay Thompson. He certainly didn’t express the same depth of emotions after Golden State traded Jordan Poole for Chris Paul. However, Wiggins was an asphyxiating defender like Green which is what the Warriors needed out of him. The trade-off for the NBA’s nine-figure contracts is the nomadic lifestyle.
