He now writes about sports instead as a form of therapy.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>On Wednesday night, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/thunder-news-bismack-biyombo-okc-bench-alarmed-after-fainting-during-timeout-grizzlies" rel="noopener">a scary incident occurred</a> on the Oklahoma City Thunder bench when Bismack Biyombo suddenly collapsed while greeting his teammates and giving them high-fives during a pause in the action during their clash against the Portland Trail Blazers. The good thing is that Biyombo was able to get back to his feet and walk to the tunnel under his own power, although the cause for Biyombo’s sudden collapse remains a cause for concern for the Thunder brass.</p><p>Thankfully, good news surrounding Biyombo continue to come out. According to Brett Siegel, NBA reporter for ClutchPoints, the Thunder <a href="https://twitter.com/BrettSiegelNBA/status/1765605414622597283" rel="noopener">have cleared</a> Biyombo of any serious health issue, although given the worrying nature of a sudden collapse, the team will continue to monitor his condition through the night and through tomorrow.</p><p>Bismack Biyombo’s collapse alarmed the entire Thunder bench, with OKC players looking over in the immediate aftermath to ensure that the veteran big man was alright. But immediately after fainting, Biyombo <a href="https://twitter.com/BrettSiegelNBA/status/1765606457263747416" rel="noopener">was reportedly “alert”</a>, as per Siegel, which should have calmed down what were very justified worries over the 31-year old center’s condition.</p><p>The scariest part about Biyombo’s fainting was the fall; the Thunder players didn’t seem to realize what was happening in real time, so Biyombo fell straight onto the ground instead of being caught by any of his teammates. Mike Muscala looked like a very confused man when Biyombo was falling, but was immediately concerned when he realized what just happened.</p><p>Now, it looks like Bismack Biyombo did not hit his head hard on the hardwood or hit his head hard on the knee of Gordon Hayward, who appears to have borne the brunt of the collision.</p><p>It’s not quite clear yet why Biyombo fell down the way he did. Biyombo will have to undergo further testing to fully ascertain the reason for his sudden collapse. But this report from the Thunder means that there’s not much reason to be worried about the veteran center moving forward.</p><p>Bismack Biyombo was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/thunder-news-sign-bismack-biyombo-minimum-deal-after-grizzlies-release" rel="noopener">signed by the Thunder</a> on February 10, 2024 to provide more frontcourt depth. His veteran presence has been highly valuable during OKC’s impressive season.</p><p>The Thunder jumped to a solid 65-57 lead on the Trail Blazers by halftime. Of course, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 16 first-half points. In addition, rookie center Chet Holmgren finished the half with 16 points and nine rebounds.</p><p>Nevertheless, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-news-skip-bayless-issues-serious-lebron-james-la-warning-to-west-after-thunder-demolition" rel="noopener">Oklahoma City needs to keep</a> its foot on the gas if it wants to win against Portland.</p><p>The Blazers entered the matchup at 17-43 after a tough 119-114 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.  Thus, the team is hungry for an upset against OKC.</p><p>Jerami Grant notched 11 points by the end of the half. Moreover, Portland will want to see more production from Anfernee Simmons, who totaled just six points.</p><p>The Thunder expect more contributions from their stars as well. They have a dangerous trio made up of MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, rising star Jalen Williams and superb rookie Chet Holmgren, along with the fearless mentality to run the gauntlet. But with former champions and the best players in the game today standing in their way, they could use some veteran toughness.</p><p>Enter general manager Sam Presti. Fans were a bit puzzled after the front office failed to address its glaring need of big-man depth at the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/gordon-hayward-trade-grades-thunder-hornets-deal" rel="noopener">NBA trade deadline</a> this past Thursday, but they should be intrigued by this free agent addition.</p><h2><b>Thunder find their backup center for playoffs</b></h2><p>Biyombo averaged 5.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in almost 24 minutes per game for the Memphis Grizzlies before being waived in early-January. Although production significantly dropped after being given a bigger workload on the depleted squad (averaged more blocks in just 14.3 minutes per game with the Phoenix Suns in 2023), the 31-year-old should be more impactful with the Thunder.</p><p>A supporting role on a good team fits Bismack Biyombo well at this stage of his career. While he may not have an answer against Nikola Jokic, Anthony Davis or other top bigs in the West, this move shows that OKC is aware of its potential roadblocks. This guy has been through enough sports trauma for one lifetime.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Los Angeles Clippers’ season is getting away from them, and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-paul-george-delivers-strong-message-to-russell-westbrook-on-free-agency" rel="noopener">Russell Westbrook knows it</a>. Repeatedly on the back foot in the middle of a third quarter offensive flurry from the Phoenix Suns, Westbrook had to, one way or another, take out his frustration. After all, the Clippers point guard was also in the middle of a dreadful shooting night. And it all came to a head when Westbrook took a violent swing from behind to prevent Bismack Biyombo from cashing in on an easy bucket in the paint.</p><p>The Suns center crashed hard to the ground, clutching his shoulder after Westbrook appeared to yank his arm with what must be said is an admirable defensive effort to prevent two easy points. However, everything that could go wrong for the Clippers in the third quarter did go wrong, as they proceeded to allow 50 points in total in the quarter.</p><p>As dispiriting as that third quarter was, the Clippers can hold their heads up high as they made the Suns sweat to end the contest. But that’s all a moot point for a team that will have plenty of offseason decisions to make as they navigate yet another heartbreaking playoff defeat.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Biyombo, an 11-year NBA veteran, spent his first season in Phoenix with the Suns last year. He averaged just under 6 points and 5 rebounds per contest in 36 games. He could be in line for a bigger role next season given the Deandre Ayton <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/suns-news-deandre-ayton-closing-in-on-phoenix-exit-amid-latest-free-agency-woj-bomb/">uncertainty</a>.</p><p>Biyombo has never been much of a scorer. He holds a career mark of 5.2 points per game. But he’s a strong rebounder and defender. He features impressive strength given his size of 6’8 and 255 pounds. Opponents have an extremely difficult time backing him down in the post.</p><p>Biyombo began his career in Charlotte before heading to Toronto for a season. After one year with the Raptors, Biyombo headed to Orlando and spent two years with the Magic before returning to Charlotte for 3 seasons. He is now prepared to enter his second campaign with the Suns.</p><p>Phoenix’s offseason has been dominated by Deandre Ayton rumors. Ayton is expected to sign elsewhere, but there is a chance the Suns bring him back into the fold. Ayton is one of the best young centers in the NBA and there is interest from other teams.</p><p>The Suns also <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/suns-news-devin-booker-earns-214-million-supermax-contract-nba2k23-cover/">signed Devin Booker to a max extension</a>. So Phoenix is planning to build around Booker for the long-term. For now, Phoenix is hoping to make another NBA Finals run with Booker, Chris Paul, and possibly Ayton leading the way next year. And Bismack Biyombo will provide necessary depth as well for the Suns.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Suns ended up blowing out the Mavs in this one, 110-80, but the lopsided game did not end without incident.</p><p>Suns big man Bismack Biyombo went for a dunk with just seconds remaining in the game and Mavs center Marquese Chriss did not appreciate it. The pair ended up having a heated discussion on the floor which resulted in both players getting ejected.</p><p>The scene escalated when Chriss appeared to have chased Biyombo down the tunnel as both men exited the paying court. The Suns center actually didn’t sign with anyone earlier in the 2021/22 campaign because he was grieving from the death of his dad, with who Biyombo was extremely close.</p><p>The Congo native joined the Suns in January on a 10-day deal and after impressing early on,<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/suns-news-phoenix-makes-decision-on-bismack-biyombo-after-red-hot-start/"> Phoenix signed him for the rest of the season</a>. That’s when they turned to the former lottery pick Biyombo, who was terrific in his first two appearances so far.</p><p>In 23.5 minutes of work, the former Hornet is averaging 13.5 points and six boards while also blocking two shots per game. In the Suns’ big win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, Biyombo showed out for 16 off the bench and proved to be a force inside.</p><p>Jalen Smith has been starting at the five, but his production is limited. As McGee and Ayton remain sidelined, Biyombo should continue to see an increased run as soon as Thursday night, when Monty Williams’ squad takes on the Los Angeles Clippers at home.</p><p>Even when their two main bigs return to action, Biyombo will certainly receive his fair share of playing time if he continues to impress on a consistent basis. Entering the game with the seventh seed, Charlotte failed to add more cushion to their hold of the eighth seed over the Indiana Pacers–who were obliterated by the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday as well.</p><p>Hopefully, Holiday will be able to keep up his brilliant play for the Bucks. He knew he was on the wrong end of another Westbrook poster and all he could do was laugh about it.</p><p>In case Russ wanted to check if Biyombo had sustained some sort of injury after the viciousness that occurred during the game, he’d be happy to know that Bismack is up and about. The only injury the Hornets veteran is coming away with from his in-game Westbrook experience is a bruised ego. This was a pretty sick jam, and it could have been much worse for Biyombo had he given his entire effort to try and stop Westbrook here. It could have easily been an and-1 for Westbrook, and for Biyombo, an even more embarrassing poster.</p><p>You know a player just got shamefully dunked on when he tries to sprint back to the opposite side of the floor as soon as the play ends. This was exactly what Biyombo tried to do after Russ put him in a body bag as he clearly wanted nothing to do with Westbrook and his post-jam flex/mean mug.</p><p>Unfortunately for Westbrook and the Wizards, who were <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/wizards-news-bradley-beal-injury-update-exiting-pistons-game/" rel="noopener">without</a> Bradley Beal again in this one, it was the Hornets who emerged with a 114-104 victory after a hard-fought encounter.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Sixers broadcast was hyped on the call as Harris gave Biyombo his Kodak moment. He did make a mini-flex as soon as he landed and back-pedaled to the other side. Not really known for his dunking, this is certainly an impressive finish from Harris, considering he did so against an elite rim protector in Bismack Biyombo.</p><p>The poster dunk was two of Harris’ team-high 24 points on the evening. Along with his scoring output, he also put up an all-around line of nine rebounds, six assists, four steals, and three blocks, while shooting an efficient 9-of-14 from the field and drilling four 3-pointers in 37 minutes of work.</p><p>Aside from Harris, five other Sixers finished in double-figures on Saturday. Newly-acquired guard Seth Curry scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while knocking down three triples. All-Star center Joel Embiid had 19 points and 14 boards, while star facilitator Ben Simmons finished with a triple-double.</p><p>The Sixers are off to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sixers-news-doc-rivers-4-word-reaction-ben-simmons-first-three-pointer-season/">a strong start with a 5-1 record</a>, sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings in the young season. Things are certainly looking promising for Philadelphia early, especially after a disappointing 2019-20 season. As for Harris, he also having a pretty solid start to his 10th NBA season. Entering Saturday, the 6-foot-8 wing averaged <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/harrito02.html">17.8 points</a>, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and a scorching 45.8 percent from deep.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The 27-year-old center is averaging 4.8 points and 5.8 rebounds through his nine seasons in the NBA.</p><p>The Hornets have had a busy offseason so far. After being one of the lower marketed teams to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hornets-news-gordon-haywards-120-million-haul-free-agency-comes-apology/">acquire Hayward’s services</a>, team owner Michael Jordan was able to pitch the All-Star on coming to Charlotte, with an insane contract being a spearheading contributor. The end result was Hayward signing a massive four-year, $120 million deal, ending his time with the Boston Celtics. Though it came at a heavy price, Hayward brings Charlotte their first major signing via free agency in recent memory.</p><p>Charlotte also was afforded the opportunity of grabbing LaMelo Ball at the No. 3 spot in the 2020 NBA Draft last week. Though Ball shows tremendous promise and will likely earn a starting role in the future, the Hornets have a few dilemmas to solve before the season commences. They still currently have Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham as the primary options in the backcourt, meaning someone will likely have to take a backseat in order for Ball to get his piece of the pie.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
