As he gets closer to the end of the recruiting process, Anthony has <a href="https://www.on3.com/news/kiyan-anthony-son-of-carmelo-anthony-names-final-3-schools/" rel="noopener">narrowed his list down</a> to three schools — Auburn, USC and Syracuse — according to Joe Tipton of On3 Sports. The New York native has <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/syracuse-basketball-news-carmelo-anthony-son-kiyan-visit-with-orange">taken official visits to Syracuse</a> and USC already during the process.</p><p>Anthony, who is currently On3’s top-ranked player in the state of New York, has quickly become a blue-chip prospect in the class of 2025. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard has earned a four-star recruiting ranking and is one of the best pure scorers in this class. Whoever adds Anthony to their roster next fall will be getting some instant scoring punch.</p><p>“As he continues to get stronger and while he still needs to clean up some things with his footwork and balance, Anthony manufactured clean looks,” Jamie Shaw of On3 Sports said. “He led the NBPA Top 100 Camp in scoring this year and he averaged 20.2 points in EYBL play. Now that he has shown he can score, it is about getting to reps to learn how to score.”</p><p>USC has become a major factor on the recruiting scene of late after hiring Eric Musselman, formerly the head coach of Arkansas. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/usc-basketball-news-eric-musselman-continues-transfer-portal-haul-pair-additions">Musselman is known for his aggressive mindset</a> when it comes to recruiting the transfer portal, but Anthony would be a big pickup for the new regime in Los Angeles out of the high school ranks.</p><p>Bruce Pearl has been very successful at Auburn, and has turned the Tigers into a consistent NCAA Tournament team. Anthony would be a big addition for Pearl as he continues to move forward in the SEC.</p><p>Obviously, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/syracuse-basketball-news-kiyan-anthony-reveals-carmelo-anthony-role-possibly-joining-orange">Syracuse is an attractive candidate</a>, as it is where Carmelo Anthony became a legend at the college level when he led the Orange to a National Championship as a freshman in 2003. In August, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/timberwolves-newsshaquille-oneal-doubles-down-on-ruthless-rudy-gobert-comments">O’Neal slammed Gobert</a> for cheating the system after he signed a five-year, $205 million contract. On an episode of the 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast, Carmelo Anthony <a href="https://youtu.be/vnOnaP3s9e8?t=74" rel="noopener">took sides in the feud</a> between the two centers.</p><p>“I wish they would (see Shaq),” Anthony said. “With that being said, they don’t want to because they don’t feel like there’s any relevancy between Shaq’s game and the game today. So nobody is saying go see Shaq. They’re going to say, hey go see T-Mac, like go see this guy, go see Melo, like they ain’t like go see Shaq.”</p><p>O’Neal has consistently criticized the Timberwolves center for several reasons. A lack of dominance, offensive prowess, and his salary are only tidbits of his frustration. At first, it felt like constructive criticism. For example, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/shaq-doubles-down-on-donovan-mitchell-criticism-with-message-to-haters">O’Neal infamously called out Donovan Mitchell</a> when he was Gobert’s teammate with the Utah Jazz. The exchange was awkward, to say the least.</p><figure class="op-interactive"></figure><p>Although O’Neal has a tough-love approach to players, sometimes his criticism crosses the line. With Mitchell, he did it because that’s what he did to players like Penny Hardaway and Kobe Bryant. He is arguably the most dominant, if not, the most dominant center to ever play the position. Regardless of his dominance, his tone can be off-putting and discouraging to many players. Anthony acknowledges both sides.</p><p>“Now that’s the unfortunate part right, what I’m saying to your point is if they did reach out to him and incorporate him into training and giving back to the game from that standpoint,” Anthony said. “He does give back to the game a lot but from that standpoint these young —— ain’t going to want to say, ‘yo Shaq come teach me.’ I wanted Shaq.”</p><p>Gobert fired back at Shaq and <a href="https://twitter.com/rudygobert27/status/1831763536915394634" rel="noopener">called his words ‘sad.’</a> Gobert is a four-time Defensive Player of the Year, three-time NBA All-Star, four-time All-NBA team member, and seven-time All-Defensive Team member. While the feud between O’Neal and Gobert could continue, Anthony has a simple message for the former Los Angeles Lakers big man.<br><br>“Yo Shaq, Champ, leave Rudy the f**k alone man,” Anthony said. “Come on bro like stall him out man, stall the guy out, man. A big chunk of his heart resides in what is now called the JMA Wireless Dome, so he would presumably be both touched and elated to see his son choose a similar path in his college hoops career.</p><p>But the 10-time NBA All-Star and 2013 scoring champion is <a href="https://www.espn.com/recruiting/basketball/story/_/id/41333293/kiyan-anthony-says-carmelo-leaving-syracuse-choice-him" rel="noopener">not inserting his own voice</a> in this decision-making process.</p><p>“[My father] never pushes me to go to Syracuse just because his name is on the gym,” four-star recruit Kiyan Anthony told ESPN’s Myron Medcalf. “He did so much at Syracuse. He knows that I’m my own person. I’ve just got to make my own decision at the end of the day… If it is Syracuse — I go there a lot and I practice, I work out there — if it is that, that’s what it is. But he’s never going to say, ‘You got to go to Syracuse. You got to go there because I went there.’ He’s not going to make me follow in his footsteps unless I really want to.”</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/syracuse-basketball-news-carmelo-anthony-son-kiyan-visit-with-orange">Anthony already visited the campus</a> once and plans to do so again. The Orange join USC, Rutgers, Ohio State and Florida State as a possible destination for the 17-year-old guard. The fact that the program his father shined in is even on the list will excite many fans about the potential scenario of another freshman Anthony thriving in upstate New York.</p><p>Though, committing to play for Cuse will only magnify the national attention the Long Island Lutheran High School standout attracts. The pressure to perform at a high level at his father’s alma mater could put undue stress on <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/carmelo-anthonys-son-goes-viral-after-40-point-explosion-at-peach-jam">the promising Kiyan Anthony</a>. His father is surely aware of the burden that could weigh down his son, and that is probably why he is simply taking a supportive approach and refraining from injecting his own opinions.</p><h2><b>Carmelo Anthony left a lasting legacy in just one year at Syracuse</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Carmelo-and-Kiyan-Anthony-observe-the-action.jpg"><figcaption>Jonah Hinebaugh/Naples Daily News/USA Today Network-Florida / USA TODAY NETWORK</figcaption></figure><p>Carmelo Anthony averaged 22.2 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest in his lone season with the Orange in 2002-03. At only 18 years of age, he scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting to go along with 10 boards and seven assists in the team’s 81-78 national championship victory versus Kansas. Those shoes may never be filled by another Syracuse basketball player, which is something fans would need to recognize if Kiyan Anthony arrived at The Dome next year.</p><p>He has much left to mull over. “Even though I know basically the whole world wants me to go to Syracuse, I still haven’t made the decision yet and I still have to talk to the coaches some more and really get into detail — like what other players are coming, how they want me to play, how I’ll be coached and stuff like that,” Anthony said.</p><p>The second-generation athlete has upcoming visits scheduled at USC and Rutgers. By retiring at the conclusion of the 2002-03 season, Jordan was not able to play against future Hall of Famers such as LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwyane Wade, who entered the league the following campaign.</p><p>Nonetheless, Jordan still had the aura that made even players of Anthony’s caliber turn their heads whenever he was around. Even if Jordan was no longer at his best during his days with the Wizards, Anthony could still see just <a href="https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1834776742625787979" rel="noopener">how differently</a> Jordan was built compared to his peers, as he was never in a hurry and he was always locked into getting to his comfort spots on the court and doing damage from there.</p><p>“I just remember watching him like just as a basketball player. Damn, like, he just looked so different. He not MJ of old, like, he’s not MJ flying through the air but the game looks so easy to him. He just catching it, two dribbles, right shot fake, boom. Get to the rack, one dribble, hesi pull, boom. Anthony blossomed into one of the greatest scorers in league history, as he had a deep arsenal of moves and the confidence to hoist up shots to match his level of skill. Anthony is also someone who isn’t hurried, as he takes his time to get to his spots and there is little in the way of defense that anyone can play to get him out of rhythm.</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/bulls-news-demar-derozan-reveals-why-wizards-michael-jordan-was-his-favorite">Wizards version of Jordan</a> may be a rather uninspiring footnote in the career of one of the greatest to ever pick up a basketball. But Jordan’s skill level was so high in the first place that even a steep drop-off allowed him to maintain his place as one of the most impressive players to watch in the league, as per Anthony’s recollection.</p><h2>Carmelo Anthony’s impressive late-career transformation</h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Carmelo-Anthony-00-and-Gary-Trent-Jr.-of-the-Portland-Trail-Blazers-celebrate-a-three-point-basket.jpg"></figure><p>Not too many players who have grown accustomed to being the guy would willingly make the transition into a role player. But Carmelo Anthony, after a few rough patches to end the 2010s, took it upon himself to accept a smaller role and made the most out of it.</p><p>For the final two seasons of Anthony’s Hall of Fame career, he was a full-time bench player who made the occasional start depending on his team’s injury situation. His usage rate hovered around the low 20s — a huge transition for someone who began his career commandeering most of the touches for the teams he led (Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks).</p><p>Meanwhile, Michael Jordan refused to become anything less than the star of his team, which tracks with the way we’ve come to know the legend throughout his playing days. One of the greatest players to ever play the game, the only thing that eluded Anthony during his career is an NBA championship. During a recent episode of Dwyane Wade’s podcast, ‘The Why with Dwyane Wade,’ Wade <a href="https://x.com/ClutchPoints/status/1834711932911468913" rel="noopener">spoke about the first time he ever saw</a> Carmelo Anthony play basketball.</p><p>It was back when both Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony were in college during a tournament at Madison Square Garden. They did not matchup against each other, but Wade was left speechless by what he saw on the court.</p><p>“I’m sitting there and I’m watching his player I’ve heard about in high school that’s supposed to be nice, but I’m like kind of hating a little bit. I’m like let me see this,” Wade said. “You had like 30, you were getting to the money, it looked so easy. And I was sitting there like, damn, I ain’t never seen this up close and personal. You were doing it with a smile, you were doing it with a flair, you were just hooping. And I was like I think this is the best basketball player I’ve watched in my life with my own eyes.”</p><p>Wade mentioned how he was too young to watch players like Michael Jordan live, so in that sense Anthony was the best player he ever watched in person. He left that event thinking Anthony was for sure the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. But that honor would actually go to LeBron James.</p><h2><b>Carmelo Anthony’s Hall of Fame career</b></h2><p>While Anthony was never able to win an NBA championship, he is without a doubt one of the greatest basketball players to ever play as Wade called him. He led Syracuse to the program’s only NCAA title in school history.</p><p>He ended up being the No. 3 overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets when the Detroit Pistons <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pistons-news-tayshaun-prince-dishes-his-influence-on-not-drafting-carmelo-anthony">shocked everyone by selecting Darko Milicic</a>.</p><p>Anthony’s resume includes being a ten-time NBA All-Star, two-time All NBA Second Team, four-time All-NBA Third Team, one-time NBA scoring champ, NBA All-Rookie Team, three Olympic gold medals and one Olympic bronze medal and being selected to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.</p><p>Anthony’s NBA career spawned 19 seasons including stints with the New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers in addition to the Nuggets. He joined ClutchPoints in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The period of 2003-04 was a wild time to be a Detroit Pistons fan, as the team passed up on several future Hall of Famers to select Darko Milicic with the second pick in the 2003 NBA Draft but also went on to win a championship the ensuing season anyway. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/darko-milicic-the-350-pound-cherry-picker-turned-renaissance-man">Milicic is widely considered</a> to be one of the worst draft choices in NBA history, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/5-reasons-2004-pistons-would-beat-2017-warriors">as the Pistons</a> opted not to select Carmelo Anthony, who then went on to become one of the greatest scorers to ever play.</p><p>Still, that 2003-04 Pistons team was one of the most motivational stories to ever grace the NBA hardwood, and recently, a key member of that team, forward Tayshaun Prince, revealed why he himself may have been <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=2218&amp;v=5p6l_YuUQaM&amp;feature=youtu.be" rel="noopener">a reason the team</a> opted not to select Anthony, via The Knuckleheads Podcast.</p><p>“I think how management looked at it was like they found their future small forward in me, let’s take a chance on Darko because remember (Mehmet) Okur, who we had, who was super talented, there was a chance we were going to lose him in free agency, which we did,” said Prince. “Then obviously (Rasheed Wallace), so it was like however they want to call it, we’ll take a chance on Darko.”</p><h2><b>A roller coaster of a season</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Prince-with-the-Pistons.jpg"><figcaption>Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>With Milicic playing limited off of the bench while Anthony nearly beat out LeBron James for Rookie of the Year in Denver, the Pistons were able to get to the NBA Finals and then pulled off one of the biggest upsets in league history by defeating the heavily favored Los Angeles Lakers four games to one.</p><p>Unfortunately, the franchise has been on a steady downhill trajectory in the two decades since, one that may have been at least helped if not reversed had Anthony been there.</p><p>Still, Prince isn’t pinning the blame solely on Milicic.</p><p>“We were shook, but I want to say this about Darko, you’ve got to remember I think Darko was 17 when we drafted him, just turned 18 before the season started, Larry Brown’s his first coach, come on man,” said Prince. “The #2 pick, bust, everybody talks all this, whatever the case may be but this wasn’t all on Darko.”</p><p>Of course, Carmelo Anthony doesn’t exactly have a reputation as a playoff riser in his own right, and it’s worth considering how his playstyle may or may not have worked in the Pistons’ gritty system.</p><p>In any case, Pistons fans will always have that 2004 championship to remember, even if the organization currently isn’t in the best of shape.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Karl coached Anthony when he was on the Nuggets, and since both have been out of the league, they’ve taken shots at each other in the media, and on social media.</p><p>It’s not for certain what has come over Karl recently, but he went on X, formerly Twitter, and <a href="https://x.com/ClutchPoints/status/1831702723823095856" rel="noopener">tweeted an apology</a> to Anthony, wanting to leave the beef they had with each other over the years in the past.</p><p>“In a time of division, where coming together truly matters, I’m done feuding with Carmelo Anthony,” Karl tweeted. “I have tremendous respect for Melo. We don’t know each other now but I hear he’s kicking butt and using his influence for positive impact. It’s all love now from here out.”</p><p>It’s not certain if Anthony will accept the apology, but it’s a big step for Karl to come out and try to make amends.</p><h2><b>Will the George Karl, Carmelo Anthony beef finally end?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Carmelo-Anthony.jpg"><figcaption>Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>George Karl and Carmelo Anthony have been going back and forth for a while now, and the most recent instance was when Anthony told a story about him 7PM in Brooklyn podcast.</p><p>“He got the job a couple days before we played [the] Milwaukee Bucks so the whole thing was I’m not coaching no game. My first game I want to be against the Milwaukee Bucks…I really don’t know the game when he came to the team. I’m 21 now,” Anthony said. “All I know is I got a big name coach coming. George Karl, coached Milwaukee, coached Seattle…you know all of that. We get to Milwaukee after shoot around [he] called me to his room and he tell me, ‘Hey man I think you [are] overrated.'”</p><p>Karl then went on social media and posted a clip of Anthony telling the story and said “Hey @carmeloanthony let’s not do this. You’re telling stories that are 20 years old. Only eight months later, the Orange were victorious in the National Championship Game, scoring an 81-78 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks, and Anthony was able to depart a legend. Anthony was named the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, becoming just the third freshman in history to earn this honor. Soon, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/carmelo-anthonys-son-kiyan-absolutely-cooks-nba-legend-epic-1-on-1-duel">his son, Kiyan Anthony, could potentially be following in his footsteps</a>.</p><p>Although Kiyan Anthony is not the No. 1 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, name recognition alone will make him one of the most prized recruits that Syracuse has pursued since Jim Boeheim and the Orange landed his father over two decades ago. Anthony is the No. 34 overall prospect in the class of 2025 and<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/carmelo-anthony-news-kiyan-ncaa-contact-period-division-1"> has been pursued by a number of Division 1 powerhouses</a>. Recently, Anthony narrowed his list down to six schools — Syracuse, USC, Rutgers, Ohio State, Auburn and Florida State.</p><p>Though there is not yet any indication as to which direction Kiyan Anthony is leaning, the first in-home visit the 4-star shooting guard will be taking <a href="https://247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/four-star-shooting-guard-kiyan-anthony-schedules-syracuse-in-home-visit-235615365/" rel="noopener">will be with the Orange</a>.</p><p>“So far, Anthony has scheduled a visit to USC for Sept. 14-16 and is in the process of rescheduling an official visit to Rutgers,” writes Dushawn London of 247 Sports. “However, this week, Anthony will have an in-home visit with Syracuse, the alma mater of his iconic father, Carmelo Anthony, on Sept. 4.”</p><p>Kiyan Anthony took a visit with Syracuse back in October 2023, meeting with new head coach/former Syracuse point guard Adrian Autry shortly after Autry took over for Jim Boeheim. Boeheim had run the program for the previous 47 years, and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/syracuse-basketball-news-carmelo-anthony-pens-touching-message-after-jim-boeheim-retires">coached Carmelo Anthony during his one season at Syracuse</a>. In fact, from 2015 to 2023, Syracuse didn’t manage to sign a single top 40 prospect. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that during that eight season span, the Orange missed the NCAA Tournament four times, the most in any eight season span during Boeheim’s 47-year tenure.</p><p>Since Adrian Autry took over following a 12-year stint as an assistant on Jim Boeheim’s bench, Syracuse already seems to be surging, at least on the recruiting front. Michael Jordan is no surprise either, given his dominance over the NBA with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s. Kobe Bryant is a respectable pick as well. He won five titles with the Los Angeles Lakers and inspired countless fans and athletes. But choosing Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook was unconventional.</p><p>It is not that Anthony and Westbrook are not all-time caliber players. Westbrook had one of the most impressive MVP seasons ever during the 2016-17 season. He averaged a triple-double of 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists. Moreover, Anthony is one of the greatest scorers in league history. But a five-time champion and arguably the greatest shooter in history Stephen Curry has a pretty strong case to take Westbrook’s spot. Meanwhile, a legendary big like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar could take Anthony’s spot.</p><p>One of the greatest things about top-five lists though is that they are subjective. Bryce James was likely inspired to choose the players on his list for a specific reason. They may not all be conventional choices, but they remain sound picks nonetheless.</p><p>As stars of the next generation make their impact, there will continue to be names in all-time lists that catch fans off guard.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Williamson has been the talk of the town as of late after showing signs of significant weight loss. Photos of him looking remarkably slimmer compared to his first four seasons in the NBA have surfaced online. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pelicans-news-zion-williamson-body-transformation-viral">Williamson undoubtedly caught the attention of many</a>, including NBA legends such as Anthony.</p><p>During a recent episode of 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony &amp; Kid Mero, the NBA legend discussed what else <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/5-lessons-zion-williamsons-pelicans-must-learn-from-nba-finals">Williamson needs to do</a> now that has cut down on weight.</p><p>Anthony believes that it’s important for the Pelicans star to stay consistent. He acknowledged and praised Zion for putting in the work. However, it’s what he does with his newfound body to maintain it that matters.</p><p>“He looked like he was in the best shape of his life,” Anthony <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROM3krvLyUI" rel="noopener">said in his podcast</a>. “But it’s like, it’s not getting in shape. It’s remaining in shape. It’s remaining fit. Now you going to get there, but are you going to keep that going?</p><p>“Are you going to do what you got to do to keep that, you know, being locked in? How are you going to do that? It’s a long season, and you really got to put the work in to remain that way. While he is undoubtedly the New Orleans Pelicans’ biggest star, he hasn’t exactly lived up to the hype.</p><p>Williamson was the first-overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft but couldn’t prove himself worthy of that honor due to missing almost the entire 2019-20 season. Nevertheless, the moment he made his debut late in his rookie year, he immediately proved why he was at the top of his class.</p><p>True enough, he became an All-Star in his sophomore year. He averaged a career-high 27.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. However, possibly due to his weight affecting his body, Williamson suffered from a foot injury late in his second season.</p><p>This ultimately resulted in Zion missing the entire 2021-22 season. When he came back the following year, he only played 29 games due to another injury he dealt with. Many critics called him out for not caring for his body then.</p><p>Fast-forward to the present day, Williamson now looks like he’s in better shape. The question now is, can he use it to his advantage? Even when he was on the heavier side, Zion was both an offensive and defensive threat. Being physically lighter now can only mean that he’ll be able to run faster, leap higher, and be more durable on the hardwood.</p><p>That’s given if Williamson maintains the weight that he lost. It also wouldn’t hurt if he shredded a few more extra pounds of fat and replaced them with more muscle. Moreover, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-knicks-jalen-brunson-towards-156-million-contract-extension">Knicks signed Jalen Brunson</a> and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/knicks-news-acquire-og-anunoby-raptors-massive-trade">traded for OG Anunoby</a> to give them a primary scorer and a skilled two-way wing. Their recent resurgence may strike fans as an interesting parallel to the 1990s team, which played a rough-and-tumble physical defense-first basketball, under tough big man and Knicks legend Patrick Ewing and ex-Lakers champion Pat Riley. Back then, they were serious contenders for the title year by year.</p><p>However, it was just their luck that they were in the same conference as Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. Jordan’s first retirement in 1994 was the best chance for the Knicks to win the championship, as they toppled the Bulls and the Indiana Pacers on the way to the Finals. Yet, the valiant efforts of John Starks, among others, weren’t enough to overcome Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets, who won the title in seven games.</p><p>As injuries slowed down Patrick Ewing, though, the Knicks took their last gasp for the Finals with Allan Houston in 1999, although they ultimately felt Ewing’s absence as the San Antonio Spurs took care of business in five games.</p><h2><b>What’s next?</b></h2><p>After years in the doldrums, fans finally have reason to celebrate every year as their team is in the contenders’ conversation again. Last season was the first time the Knicks won 50 games since Carmelo Anthony lit up Madison Square Garden in 2013. They also reached the second round of the playoffs only to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/knicks-news-jalen-brunson-pacers-tyrese-haliburton-wwe-match">lose to long-time rival Pacers</a> in seven games.</p><p>In the offseason, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/knicks-news-nets-mikal-bridges-expaned-unqiue-sign-and-trade">Knicks traded for Mikal Bridges</a>, as the Brooklyn Nets finally committed to a full rebuild. Carmelo Anthony was one of the people who saw Barkley’s loyalty, and he wanted to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygoTW1-zc4k" rel="noopener">show his respect</a> to the TNT analyst for what he did.</p><p>Anthony shared his high praises for Barkley on 7 PM in Brooklyn, a Wave Sports + Entertainment Original.</p><p>“With Barkley it comes down to ‘This is home, I don’t want to leave this. We done built this. I built my whole life off this s–t.’ The money is enticing because they gotta throw the money out there and rightfully so, he deserves the numbers that’s out there but you can’t leave,” Anthony said. “That’s me speaking from a loyalty situation. That’s real shit what he did because I know the numbers that are being thrown at Barkley. I know the conversation that’s being had about Barkley.  Those Stephen A. numbers are official.  All those numbers are real…It’s loyalty.”</p><figure class="op-interactive"></figure><p>During the summer there were talks that TNT would possibly not be covering any NBA games in the future since a deal wasn’t made with the league, which made many fans of the show upset. Barkley even went on to say during the playoffs that the upcoming season would be his last one in broadcast, but he retracted his statements.</p><h2><b>Charles Barkley turned down $100 million deals to stay with TNT</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Charles-Barkley.jpg"><figcaption>Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>Charles Barkley announced on The Dan LeBatard Show that he turned down a minimum of $100 million to stay with the TNT network.</p><p>“It was a great feeling, and I wanna thank all those networks for reaching out to me…” Barkley said. “But even though they were throwing crazy numbers — I was like, ‘D–n’ — but as long as I got my people safe at TNT, I feel really good.”</p><p>The NBA rejected to sign a new extension with TNT Sports and instead decided to partner with Amazon and NBC in the future. That means that the end of NBA on TNT is on the horizon, as fans won’t see Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith on their television screens after 2025.</p><p>Weeks after the news, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-news-tnt-sports-lawsuit-against-league-gets-big-update">Warner Bros. Discovery filed a lawsuit against the NBA</a> for <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nba-tv-deal-tnt-lawsuit-560d0edc85915b1156e5a1ab9495dd04" rel="noopener">not accepting the offer</a> that they offered.</p><p>“Given the NBA’s unjustified rejection of our matching of a third–party offer, we have taken legal action to enforce our rights,” TNT Sports said in a statement. “We strongly believe this is not just our contractual right, but also in the best interest of fans who want to keep watching our industry–leading NBA content with the choice and flexibility we offer them through our widely distributed WBD video–first distribution platforms – including TNT and Max.”</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
