Prosecutors will seize all assets.</p><p>Darden is the son of Carl Darden, a former senior vice president for operations at United Parcel Service Inc. With Dirk Nowitzki’s <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mavericks-news-luka-doncic-dirk-nowitzki-nba-finals">career coming to an end</a>, Dallas knew they needed another star to pair with Doncic.</p><p>Porzingis and Doncic displayed signs of potential while playing alongside one another. After winning the NBA Rookie of the Year, it had become clear that Doncic was going to be a star in the NBA. Porzingis, though, struggled to stay healthy and was ultimately traded to the Washington Wizards during the 2021-22 season.</p><p>Jalen Brunson emerged as a star alongside Luka Doncic and the Mavs reached the Western Conference Finals in 2022. They fell short, however, and Brunson signed with the New York Knicks in free agency.</p><h2><b>Mavericks vs. Celtics NBA Finals</b></h2><p>Since then, Porzingis has joined the Celtics, and Kyrie Irving is Doncic’s new co-star in Dallas. Doncic and Irving have silenced their doubters en route to the franchise’s first NBA Finals appearance since 2011.</p><p>Much of the attention and storylines will revolve around Irving and the Celtics, as his time in Boston was far from ideal as well. But the underlying storyline will be Porzingis and his history with the Mavs. Doncic is surely hoping to shut down any added drama with his comments about his relationship with the Celtics big man.</p><p>Still, the series projects to be a competitive clash given all of the storylines. Doncic trying to win his first NBA title is a major story. Jason Kidd and Joe Mazzulla are trying to guide their squads to championships for the first time as head coaches. Jayson Tatum is building an impressive legacy in Boston that can be cemented with an NBA Finals victory.</p><p>The 2024 NBA Finals will certainly be exciting. Nagging injuries and inconsistent play soured KP’s tenure in New York, and due to a torn ACL, what was supposed to be Porzingis’ fourth season in the NBA was lost. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-is-tyler-herro-playing-vs-rockets-latest-injury-update">Heat have been</a> to at least the Conference Finals in three out of the last four seasons, and spring is usually the time of year <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-jimmy-butler-miami-quickly-shift-focus-to-rockets-after-disappointing-76ers-loss">in which Butler</a>–with the notable exception of 2021–is known to turn into one of the league’s best players after generally cruising through the regular season.</p><p>On Friday, the Heat got another boost when it was announced that shooting guard Tyler Herro would be returning to the lineup for that evening’s game on the road vs the Houston Rockets after missing around a month with an injury sustained vs the New Orleans Pelicans, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.</p><p>One person <a href="https://twitter.com/RunItBackFDTV/status/1776306054693110156" rel="noopener">who believes that</a> the Heat are dangerous loomers in the Eastern Conference playoff picture this season is none other than former NBA player Chandler Persons, who recently took to FanDuel’s Run It Back podcast to drop a bold prediction for the Heat come playoff time.</p><p>“They’re not just getting an average player, they’re getting arguably their best scorer when healthy,” said Parsons, per Run It Back on X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter. “Tyler Herro is a proven bucket, the guy puts up 20-plus a game. He’s usually rather efficient and he does a little bit of everything… They’re probably going to get the 6-seed and play the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round, and it’s hard not to take the Heat in that series.”</p><p>A quick look at the vaunted Eastern Conference standings would reveal that the above scenario is certainly a possibility for the Heat come playoff time, which would be a huge relief after spending most of the season suspended in the dreaded Play-In game position.</p><h2>Can the Heat do it again?</h2><p>It’s hard to peg a team that has been to the NBA Finals twice in the last four years as an “underdog,” but that’s exactly where the Heat find themselves once again entering this postseason, as they’re all but assured to fall in the lower half of the Eastern Conference playoff bracket once things get underway.</p><p>With the addition of Herro, the Heat will be getting back the NBA’s 2021-22 Sixth Man of the Year, although the former Kentucky Wildcat now starts games for Miami when healthy. The Heat also added some scoring punch at the trade deadline by acquiring talented point guard Terry Rozier from the Charlotte Hornets.</p><p>In any case, the Heat on paper do not stack up with teams like the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks. However, that could also be said last year, and “paper” doesn’t take into account that Butler generally transforms into a completely different player come playoff time. Making matters more embarrassing<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/suns-vs-nuggets-prediction-odds-pick-how-to-watch-3-27-2024" rel="noopener"> for the Suns</a> was the fact that they had just blown out that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/suns-news-kevin-durant-frustrated-reaction-spurs-loss" rel="noopener">same Spurs squad</a>–that time with Wembanyama in the lineup–just two nights prior, setting the stage for what figured to be an easy win on Monday evening.</p><p>Still, despite the disappointment, <a href="https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1772722605339947147" rel="noopener">not everyone has</a> given up on the Suns’ chances of success come playoff time, due primarily to the sheer star power of their trio of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.</p><p>Recently, former NBA player and current podcaster Chandler Parsons took to FanDuel’s <i>Run it Back</i> podcast to break down why he believes Phoenix to be the biggest threat in the Western Conference to dethrone Nikola Jokic and the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets.</p><p>“They are terrifying because we know how good they can be,” said Parsons, via ClutchPoints on X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter. “Again, nobody fears the Thunder, nobody fears the Timberwolves until they show it to us and prove it to us. I would love to be coming up here next year and saying ‘Wow, the Thunder, they took that step. I believe in them. I think they’re the favorite to win it all this year because of what they did last season.’ They haven’t done that yet, so yes, I think the Suns as a team, they have the talent, they have a big, they have shooting, they have defensive capability, they have Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal. That is hard to beat, no matter what their record is, for four games.”</p><h2>A turbulent season in Phoenix</h2><p>The Suns’ arguable biggest issue this season has been their health, as quite frankly, the team just hasn’t been able to trot out a lineup featuring Durant, Booker, and Beal that many times this season. When they’re all fully intact, the results have been hard to argue with, although that was also the case Monday evening against the Spurs, and the team took one of their most embarrassing L’s of the year.</p><p>One much-maligned point about the Suns’ roster heading into the campaign and now continuing into its stretch run was the team’s lack of a true point guard. Devin Booker has been able to fill that void at times, but there are still instances when the team’s lack of a floor general to get everyone into their sets comes across as a glaring weakness, as was the case in crunch time vs the Spurs.</p><p>Still, as Parsons pointed out, lining up against Kevin Durant in a playoff series is never an enviable proposition, and in the NBA playoffs, star power tends to take precedence over things like team chemistry throughout the regular season. In any case, Phoenix next takes the floor, ironically enough, on Wednesday in Denver vs the Nuggets.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

But one of the topics of conversation that’s come up among fans and media has been Doncic’s style of play, especially as the Mavericks inconsistent play has them sputtering near the play-in seeds in the Western Conference. Count former NBA player Chandler Parsons as not quite a fan of Doncic’s play.</p><p>On a recent appearance on FanDuel’s NBA show, ‘Run It Back,’ Parsons <a href="https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1766190389554483327" rel="noopener">gave his thoughts</a> on the current issues plaguing the Mavericks.</p><p>“I think he’s an unbelievable talent, he’s really a guard version of [Nikola] Jokic where they do everything. He’s mesmerizing with the basketball,” Chandler Parsons said. “But as a teammate, it’s a little exhausting watching the same s**t over and over again. And then you don’t win, it’s even magnified like okay can we try something else. . .it definitely can be frustrating.”</p><p>Luka Doncic certainly plays an iso-style of basketball, but it can be argued that perhaps the Mavericks haven’t done enough to put the right pieces around Doncic. But Doncic has been one of the best playmakers in the league as well.</p><p>Doncic was recently named to his fifth consecutive All-Star appearance. He’s been averaging a league-leading 34.6 points per game, 9.0 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 1.4 steals with splits of 49.6 percent shooting from the field, 38.2 percent shooting from the three point line and 78.6 percent shooting from the free throw line.</p><p>The Mavericks are currently 35-28 and in eighth place in the West standings. They are two games back of the Phoenix Suns for sixth and out of the play-in spots.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

His desire to “continue to build something” has left many puzzled <a href="https://twitter.com/RunItBackFDTV/status/1758158326255501444" rel="noopener">and skeptical</a>, including retired forward Chandler Parsons.</p><p>“I’m not buying it,” he said with a smile on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back. “There’s nothing being built in DC.”</p><p>It is tough to refute Parsons’ blunt assessment of this ailing franchise. The Wizards are only one game ahead of the Detroit Pistons for worst record in the league and do not have a wealth of potential to convince fans that better days are in sight. Kuzma obviously will have some bias, but it is difficult to share his optimistic outlook.</p><p>Based on his comments, however, it does sound like he could have potentially entertained the right trade scenario for himself. And apparently, that was not the Mavericks. Kyle Kuzma might be pleased to be the top guy on a team, but he may want to give these foundational bricks a closer inspection. It’s been a difficult campaign to say the least, and things didn’t get better when LaMelo Ball and his teammates <a href="https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1752791032758931482" rel="noopener">were seen laughing during</a> their recent blowout loss to the New York Knicks. Former NBA player Chandler Parsons got brutally honest on it being an “<a href="https://twitter.com/RunItBackFDTV/status/1752788591959281703" rel="noopener">awful look</a>” for the team during a recent episode of FanDuel’s Run It Back.</p><p>“It’s an awful look,” Parsons said. “When you are the best player and you’re so young, there’s no culture, and there’s no organization in this franchise this is what you get. And you did get kind of numb to losing. It just becomes a cycle where these teams, the Detroits, the Washingtons, they’re so used to losing that they don’t even care…. It’s just another game where they get the check and that’s it.</p><p>“Maybe we’re better next year… They’re so used to losing, they’ve created the worst habits where like that’s just life there.”</p><p>Parsons certainly did not hold back in his assessment. Perhaps the Hornets will use Parsons comments as motivation. The fact is that this is not a good basketball team right now, however. Charlotte is rebuilding and they hope to compete within the next few years.</p><p>Still, there is no question that laughing during a blowout defeat isn’t a great look, regardless of what your team’s record is. And when you are 10-35, it looks even worse.</p><h2><b>LaMelo Ball’s season</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Hornets_news_Why_LaMelo_Ball_didn_t_cover_banned_tattoo_in_injury_return.webp"></figure><p>LaMelo Ball has endured an up-and-down season from an individual standpoint. He’s had games where he’s <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hornets-news-charlotte-lamelo-ball-take-care-of-victor-wembanyama-less-spurs" rel="noopener">showcased his superstar potential</a>. Ball has unfortunately been limited to just 22 games played as of this story’s writing due to injuries.</p><p>In those 22 contests, Ball is averaging 23.9 points per game on 43.3 percent field goal and 35.5 percent three-point shooting. He’s also recording 8.0 assists and 5.1 rebounds per outing.</p><p>The Hornets plan to build around LaMelo Ball. When healthy, Charlotte believes Ball can be a star player. He’s already made an All-Star team during his career, and it would not be surprising to see Ball emerge as a true superstar moving forward if he can limit his injury concerns.</p><p>Ball also needs to step up as a leader. The Hornets need a star who can lead not just with his words, but by example, and laughing during a devastating loss is not the best way to do that. Still, it’s worth noting that Ball has demonstrated leadership ability in the past and will learn from this incident.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

In the aftermath of the injury, there has been much talk about <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/76ers-news-joel-embiids-absence-nikola-jokic-nuggets-gets-clarity-it-was-not-his-choice">Joel Embiid forcing</a> the issue to remain eligible for the 2023-24 NBA MVP award.</p><p>This season, the league has implemented a policy that to qualify for regular season awards such as the MVP, players must appear in at least 65 games. The 76ers star has appeared in 34 of a possible 46 games so far this season. On Tuesday, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mavs-news-mark-cuban-breaks-silence-on-3-5-billion-sale-las-vegas-relocation-buzz" rel="noopener">Cuban agreed to sell</a> a majority ownership in the team to the Adelson family for $3.5 billion, but the long-time owner will still keep a strong stake and full control of the Mavs.</p><p>Many have started to wonder what is next for the 65-year-old businessman, especially after news broke recently that he would be <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mark-cuban-announces-season-16-is-his-last-with-shark-tank" rel="noopener">leaving ABC’s Shark Tank</a> after being a “shark” investor on the show since 2011.</p><p>On Wednesday, former Mavs forward Chandler Parsons, who spent nine seasons in the NBA, <a href="https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1729896057541144599" rel="noopener">discussed</a> this eyebrow-raising move Cuban and what this could mean for the future of the franchise.</p><p>“I talked to him [Cuban] yesterday and he wants to spend more time with his kids,” Parsons said on FanDuel’s Run It Back. “He has a 14-year-old, a 17-year-old, and a 20-year-old. He’s missed some time. They are going off to college and he feels like he needs to spend more time with them. He’s going to be on Shark Tank through 2025, so it’s not ending right now.”</p><p>Some have started to speculate that Cuban could be prepared to <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2023/11/29/mark-cuban-says-no-plans-to-run-for-president-after-mavericks-deal.html?taid=65676cbebc772c00013cde87&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter%7Cmain" rel="noopener">run for president</a> in 2024, but the Mavs owner himself emailed NBC News claiming he has “no plans to run.”</p><p>The situation of selling a majority ownership stake and then still maintaining control of the team is somewhat surprising, as this is something that normally does not happen in professional sports with change in ownership. For Parsons, the blame <a href="https://twitter.com/RunItBackFDTV/status/1726990048367943861" rel="noopener">should be placed more</a> on Ja Morant than the current Houston Rockets forward.</p><p><i>“If I’m them, I’m blaming the guy that’s flashing a gun on his Instagram that ruined their entire season, that’s not Dillon Brooks’ fault,”</i> Parsons said in a recent episode of Run it Back.</p><p>Morant and the Grizzlies got the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference by the end of the regular season in the 2022-23 campaign but they were upset by LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Many believe that Morant’s transgressions off the court deeply affected the Grizzlies, while others view Brooks’ villainous character as impacting the team more in a negative way.</p><p>In any case, Brooks is no longer with the Grizzlies, who continue to struggle on the court, mainly because of Morant’s continued absence due to a 25-game suspension.</p><p>Brook was traded by the Grizzlies to the Rockets last July in a transaction that also involved three other teams. And now, the Wembanyama hype train is growing even stronger, with retired NBA forward Chandler Parsons heaping some very lofty praise for the 19-year old Frenchman.</p><p><a href="https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1721564562892145121" rel="noopener">Clearly impressed</a> by what he has seen from the Spurs rookie to this point, Parsons, speaking on FanDuel TV, said that Wembanyama “could go down as one of the greatest players of all-time” since he has all the makings of a player who’ll blossom into a superstar for the long haul.</p><p>“This kid is truly mesmerizing to watch. That performance followed up a 30 point, 9 assist outburst in Detroit’s opener.</p><p>Cunningham missed all but 12 games last season after <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cade-cunningham-pistons-mulling-difficult-surgery-decision-amid-shin-injury" rel="noopener">being shut down</a> to have shin surgery. In his rookie year, he averaged 17.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.6 assists.</p><p>Cade Cunningham certainly looks like he’s shifted his game into another gear so far this season. It makes sense for Parsons to such a declaration, though it’s far too early for it to hold any water. The Pistons have 79 games remaining on their schedule, and a lot can happen in that time. He also faces significant competition around the NBA, including <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pistons-news-jalen-duren-lebron-james-teenager-feat-bulls" rel="noopener">potentially from teammate Jalen Duren</a>.</p><p>The Pistons appear to have a bright future with Cunningham, Duren, and young guard Jaden Ivey. But faster than expected internal development could push their timeline up by a year or two. The team currently sits at 2-1, has Cunningham and Duren playing like monsters, Ivey and Isaiah Stewart still developing, and rookie Ausar Thompson brimming with potential.</p><p>But Cunningham is the engine that makes the team go. If the team continues to defy expectations while Cunningham continues to put up similar numbers as what he has through the first few games of the season, then Chandler Parsons may just be correct.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
