The players were clearly having the times of their lives, and you have to say that they absolutely deserve all of it.</p><p>Even Nuggets rookie Christian Braun was living the good life during the championship parade on the streets of downtown Denver. Apart from the fact that he had a WWE championship belt draped over his shoulder, the 22-year-old also had a bottle of bubbly in tow. It completely caught on and blew up as soon as he started busting it out — as with most things Steph Curry-related — and you could say that the savage celly absolutely <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/warriors-steph-curry-night-night-pic-vs-kings-goes-completly-viral" rel="noopener">took on a life of its own</a>. So much so, that it’s even carried itself over to the Nuggets’ championship parade.</p><p>As for Christian Braun, you can clearly see how delighted this young man is at the moment. Very few players are able to win a ring during their entire NBA career, and even fewer are able to bag that chip in their rookie year. Well, that’s exactly what the former Kansas standout did in his debut season. That’s the exclamation point statement head coach Michael Malone said after Denver’s Game 1 win in the Western Conference Finals as the media continued to fawn over the Los Angeles Lakers instead of paying attention to the eventual title winners.</p><figure class="op-interactive"></figure><p>Christian Braun played 24 minutes in Game 5 of the NBA Finals and brought all the energy in the world to help bring a spark off the bench. He was one of eight players Malone used in every game of the series, including the standout Game 3 wherein he poured in a playoff career high 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nuggets-news-christian-braun-joins-exclusive-club-with-magic-johnson-bill-russell-after-completing-epic-nba-ncaa-title-feat" rel="noopener">Braun also joined an exclusive list</a> in NBA history with the ring he helped earn in his very first campaign. But that’s exactly what Christian Braun did. Braun, the 21st pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, was a huge part of the Denver Nuggets rotation all season long. And now his (and the entire Nuggets team’s) hard work has paid off, as the Nuggets have <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nuggets-news-nikola-jokic-denver-wins-first-championship-game-5-demolition-heat" rel="noopener">achieved the pinnacle</a> of team success by winning the 2023 NBA championship – the first ever championship in Nuggets’ history. They overcome the pesky Miami Heat 4-1 after a 94-89 Game 5 victory on Monday night.</p><p>As a result, Braun etched his name into deep NBA lore, joining the likes of Magic Johnson and Bill Russell, two of the greatest players and winners in NBA history, in an exclusive club. According to ESPN Stats &amp; Info, the Nuggets rookie became <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNStatsInfo/status/1668462626060238849" rel="noopener">just the fifth player</a> in NBA history to win an NCAA national title and an NBA championship in consecutive seasons. In addition to joining Johnson and Russell, Braun also joined Billy Thompson and Henry Bibby in that esteemed list of players.</p><p>Part of what made the Nuggets so interested in Christian Braun in the first place is that he showed the ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game for a winning team in Kansas. During the 2022 National Championship game, Braun played the entire 40 minutes, tallying 12 points and 12 rebounds while playing his usual brand of strong perimeter defense to help the Jayhawks <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/jayhawks-news-wild-16-point-comeback-makes-kansas-victory-vs-tar-heels-truly-historic" rel="noopener">overcome</a> the North Carolina Tar Heels, 72-69.</p><p>Braun simply could not have landed in a much more convenient spot for his skillset. His timing when cutting is incredible, and he is willing to do the dirty work — rebounding, diving on the floor, and moving without the basketball — that greases the wheels of winning. And the Nuggets have benefitted immensely.</p><p>The 22-year old guard also had his <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nuggets-news-rookie-christian-braun-emerges-unlikely-hero-denver-game-3" rel="noopener">signature NBA Finals moment</a>. In Game 3 against the Heat, Christian Braun scored 15 points, providing a spark on both ends of the court with his bothersome perimeter defense and shrewd decision-making on offense.</p><p>Simply put, Braun should be a fixture of many winning teams for years to come. They’re heading home for Game 5 and are in good position to close out the series. They <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nuggets-news-michael-porter-jr-drops-honest-take-on-nuggets-mindset-for-nba-finals-game-5-vs-heat" rel="noopener">can’t get complacent</a> though. They need to show the same intensity and energy they had for the past couple of games to avoid a potential catastrophe. To do so, they’re going to mentally swap places with the Heat. I think we’re in a good spot, I think our mindset is in the right spot, like I said we’re going to play like we’re down 3-1.”</p><p>For a coach like Michael Malone who plays a very veteran-heavy, short rotation, Christian Braun has been able to crack the lineup as a rookie. He exploded in Game 3 and was the X-factor with 15 points off the bench on 7-8 shooting and 1-1 from three-point range. In the playoffs, Braun has been averaging 4.7 points per game and 2.4 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game. He scored 15 points — his highest point total this postseason — on 7-for-8 shooting from the field and grabbed four rebounds in a game the Nuggets <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nuggets-news-nikola-jokic-jamal-murray-combine-for-historic-feat-vs-heat" rel="noopener">went on to win</a> by a final score of 109-94. Thanks in large part to Braun having the game of his life, the Nuggets have regained home-court advantage in this NBA Finals series.</p><p>Following Denver’s Game 3 win, Nuggets star guard Jamal Murray spoke to the media and <a href="https://twitter.com/hoopshype/status/1666792192197947392?s=20" rel="noopener">praised</a> Christian Braun, per a tweet from HoopsHype’s official Twitter account:</p><p>“He’s going to grow and he’s going to be a very, very, very solid player in this league. He averaged 4.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.2 blocks, 0.5 turnovers, and 1.3 personal fouls per game across 76 appearances with the Nuggets this season (six starts).</p><p>The former Kansas star struggled to shoot the ball accurately from the free-throw line in the 2022-23 campaign, at least compared to his college days — Braun converted just 62.5% of his free-throw attempts.</p><p>Braun and the Nuggets should view Game 4 as a must-win game.
