The players were clearly having the times of their lives, and you have to say that they absolutely deserve all of it.</p><p>Even Nuggets rookie Christian Braun was living the good life during the championship parade on the streets of downtown Denver. Apart from the fact that he had a WWE championship belt draped over his shoulder, the 22-year-old also had a bottle of bubbly in tow. It completely caught on and blew up as soon as he started busting it out — as with most things Steph Curry-related — and you could say that the savage celly absolutely <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/warriors-steph-curry-night-night-pic-vs-kings-goes-completly-viral" rel="noopener">took on a life of its own</a>. So much so, that it’s even carried itself over to the Nuggets’ championship parade.</p><p>As for Christian Braun, you can clearly see how delighted this young man is at the moment. Very few players are able to win a ring during their entire NBA career, and even fewer are able to bag that chip in their rookie year. Well, that’s exactly what the former Kansas standout did in his debut season. That’s the exclamation point statement head coach Michael Malone said after Denver’s Game 1 win in the Western Conference Finals as the media continued to fawn over the Los Angeles Lakers instead of paying attention to the eventual title winners.</p><figure class="op-interactive"></figure><p>Christian Braun played 24 minutes in Game 5 of the NBA Finals and brought all the energy in the world to help bring a spark off the bench. He was one of eight players Malone used in every game of the series, including the standout Game 3 wherein he poured in a playoff career high 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nuggets-news-christian-braun-joins-exclusive-club-with-magic-johnson-bill-russell-after-completing-epic-nba-ncaa-title-feat" rel="noopener">Braun also joined an exclusive list</a> in NBA history with the ring he helped earn in his very first campaign. But that’s exactly what Christian Braun did. Braun, the 21st pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, was a huge part of the Denver Nuggets rotation all season long. And now his (and the entire Nuggets team’s) hard work has paid off, as the Nuggets have <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nuggets-news-nikola-jokic-denver-wins-first-championship-game-5-demolition-heat" rel="noopener">achieved the pinnacle</a> of team success by winning the 2023 NBA championship – the first ever championship in Nuggets’ history. They overcome the pesky Miami Heat 4-1 after a 94-89 Game 5 victory on Monday night.</p><p>As a result, Braun etched his name into deep NBA lore, joining the likes of Magic Johnson and Bill Russell, two of the greatest players and winners in NBA history, in an exclusive club. According to ESPN Stats &amp; Info, the Nuggets rookie became <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNStatsInfo/status/1668462626060238849" rel="noopener">just the fifth player</a> in NBA history to win an NCAA national title and an NBA championship in consecutive seasons. In addition to joining Johnson and Russell, Braun also joined Billy Thompson and Henry Bibby in that esteemed list of players.</p><p>Part of what made the Nuggets so interested in Christian Braun in the first place is that he showed the ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game for a winning team in Kansas. During the 2022 National Championship game, Braun played the entire 40 minutes, tallying 12 points and 12 rebounds while playing his usual brand of strong perimeter defense to help the Jayhawks <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/jayhawks-news-wild-16-point-comeback-makes-kansas-victory-vs-tar-heels-truly-historic" rel="noopener">overcome</a> the North Carolina Tar Heels, 72-69.</p><p>Braun simply could not have landed in a much more convenient spot for his skillset. His timing when cutting is incredible, and he is willing to do the dirty work — rebounding, diving on the floor, and moving without the basketball — that greases the wheels of winning. And the Nuggets have benefitted immensely.</p><p>The 22-year old guard also had his <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nuggets-news-rookie-christian-braun-emerges-unlikely-hero-denver-game-3" rel="noopener">signature NBA Finals moment</a>. In Game 3 against the Heat, Christian Braun scored 15 points, providing a spark on both ends of the court with his bothersome perimeter defense and shrewd decision-making on offense.</p><p>Simply put, Braun should be a fixture of many winning teams for years to come. The surprise from Denver was instead provided by a rookie, with Christian Braun giving his team a big shot in the arm coming off the bench.</p><p>Nuggets head coach Michael Malone was all praises for the former Kansas Jayhawks star after the game.</p><p>“He’s everything we hoped for, and more,” Malone <a href="https://twitter.com/JoelRushNBA/status/1666646188395995137" rel="noopener">said</a> of Braun (via Joel Rush of Forbes Sports).</p><p>Braun provided the spark for the Nuggets by scoring 15 of Denver’s 19 bench points. He was near-perfect from the field, shooting 7-for-8 from the floor to go with four rebounds an assist, and a steal in 19 minutes of action.</p><p>As dependent as the Nuggets are on Murray and Jokic, guys like Braun, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will all have the put together ample contribution behind their star duo.</p><p>Although this is just his first year in the pros, Braun is a proven winner. He helped the Jayhawks bring a national title to Lawrence in 2022 when Kansas defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels in the NCAA tournament National Championship Game. A little over a year later, Braun is on the verge of adding the NBA title to his basketball resume.</p><p>Braun averaged just 4.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 15.5 minutes per game back in the regular season, but he it could just be a matter of time before he becomes a regular starter for the Nuggets. Sustaining the form he flashed in Game 3 for the rest of the NBA Finals is going to be a big challenge for him but that certainly would be a huge plus for his future.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Vincent knocked down four-of-six three pointers on the evening.</p><p>Vincent’s act of “disrespect” on Nuggets guard Christian Braun happened as the undrafted UC Santa Barbara alum scored his 21st point. A sly look from Vincent sent NBA Twitter into a frenzy. The play epitomized what <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-jimmy-butler-miamis-secret-nugget-nba-finals-game-2" rel="noopener">Heat star Jimmy Butler called </a> the team’s “focused” and care-free attitude.</p><p>The Heat guard let a perfect shot fly as he watched Braun soar past him. His performance came three days after a 19 point, five assist stat line in Game 1 against the Nuggets in Denver, suggesting Vincent has staying power.</p><p>Braun had six points, three assists and a rebound in 15 minutes. Be that as it may, the 22-year-old has remained locked in as he awaits for his number to be called. The same was the case for Braun heading into Game 4 on Monday night as he arrived at Crypto.com Arena ahead of what could be a closeout game for the Nuggets.</p><p>For some reason, though, Braun decided to <a href="https://twitter.com/ClutchPointsApp/status/1660788648801968140" rel="noopener">pay tribute</a> to Disney classic Frozen ahead of what is perhaps the biggest game of his young career thus far. Based on how he looks in the photo, it doesn’t seem like the Nuggets youngster is very happy with his accessory, which leads me to believe that this might be some sort of rookie initiation for the 6-foot-7 shooting guard. If this is the case, then you have to give credit to his veteran teammates for picking an opportune time for their young squire. Given how young these draft prospects are, the transition from being a student-athlete to becoming one of the highest-earning individuals on the planet isn’t always the most seamless. Rookies simply learn some lessons the hard way, which is what happened to Denver Nuggets rookie guard Christian Braun.</p><p>Braun, in an appearance on the Rock Chalk Unplugged podcast, recounted one of his many “welcome to the NBA” moments. The Nuggets rookie told the story of how he was having the time of his life approaching his first season in the NBA. And then he came to work one day and saw a piece of paper on his chair.</p><p>He then became perplexed to see that the Nuggets were fining him $15,000 before he even received his first paycheck. What was the reason for this fine, one might ask. Well, Christian Braun <a href="https://twitter.com/JMurrayWrld/status/1656577772209184769" rel="noopener">made the wrong decision</a> to park in Nuggets governor Stan Kroenke’s reserved parking spots.</p><p>“The three spots I parked in was Mr. Kroenke’s. I parked in his three spots. Not only did I park in his spot, I parked in all three of them. So it’s $5,000 in each of those executive spots. But for him to receive that fine before he even received his first paycheck? He felt like there was no way he was ponying up $15,000, which prompted him to call Morgan Montgomery, the Nuggets’ Basketball Operations Coordinator/Player Programs.</p><p>“I was like, ‘Morgan, fifteen thousand? That’s not gonna work. We’re not gonna do this.’ Obviously with some more colorful language, like not a chance, basically. Like, ‘no, you’re not getting my money.’ And she’s like, ‘what do you mean, we’re not getting your money? It comes straight out,” Braun added.</p><p>Chalk this one up to an expensive lesson learned for Christian Braun, who, if he continues his strong play for the Nuggets, won’t be minding these sorts of fines ever again.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Although some are worried about bust potential, I believe he will benefit from playing alongside Nikola Jokic.</p><p>The 6’6 forward features sneaky athleticism and he is a quality jump shooter. His three-point shooting will be vital to his success in the league. He shot 44 percent from beyond the arc as a freshman in college, but was unable to replicate that in the following years. Nonetheless, he has shooting potential.</p><p>And there should be no shortage of open looks with defenses focused on limiting Jokic (and Murray as long as he stays healthy.)</p><p>Look for Christian Braun to make an impact early in his Nuggets career.</p><p><b>Peyton Watson plays key role in 2022</b></p><p>Christian Braun stole most of the headlines for the Nuggets in the 2022 NBA Draft. But Peyton Watson should not be overlooked.</p><p>Watson, a 6’7 forward, was selected 30th overall by Denver. His versatile skill set will suit him well in the NBA. He isn’t the kind of player who is going to drop 25 points per game off the bat. But he will score a little bit while dishing out assists and grabbing rebounds. His IQ of the game will be beneficial for the Nuggets as well.</p><p>Most people aren’t sure what to expect from Peyton Watson in his rookie season. But I believe he will end up playing a big role off of the bench. His all-around game should help Denver’s second unit perform well.</p><p>Watson recently spoke on his mindset in the NBA Summer League, <a href="https://gazette.com/sports/denver-nuggets/denver-nuggets-rookie-peyton-watson-puts-it-all-together-in-second-summer-league-game/article_f83f9692-00c3-11ed-bb03-5ba88970f2b8.html">per the Gazette</a>.</p><blockquote>“I’m just out here proving something to myself, you know? I don’t care what anybody else says on social media or how people try to paint me,” Watson said. “I know who I am, I know what I can do, and this is more so me proving to myself that I’m still that player and I’m one of the best players in this draft.”</blockquote><p><b>Braun and Watson prove they are key pieces to the puzzle</b></p><p>I expect both Christian Braun and Peyton Watson to excel in their respective roles this season. Neither will immediately emerge as a star, but they will be important pieces to the Nuggets overall puzzle moving forward.</p><p>And as aforementioned, Denver simply needs depth around their stars. So the Nuggets certainly had a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/denver-nuggets-2022-nba-draft-grades-for-every-pick/">solid overall 2022 NBA Draft. </a></p><p>It wouldn’t be surprising to see Braun emerge as a star at some point down the road.
