He now writes about sports instead as a form of therapy.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The Atlanta Hawks are in a bit of a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/atlanta-hawks-bold-predictions-after-2024-25-season-schedule-release">weird situation, roster building-wise</a>, following their decision to trade Dejounte Murray away to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Dyson Daniels, Larry Nance Jr., and a future first-round pick. They have embraced the youth movement with much more open arms, and yet there are a few players on the team that could block playing time off from their youngsters, namely De’Andre Hunter and Clint Capela.</p><p>It’s quite well known that the Hawks have been dangling Hunter in potential trades for quite some time now. However, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUl9bQ3gIS4&amp;t=1560s" rel="noopener">the major concern</a> surrounding any prospective trade involving the 26-year-old forward is his expensive contract (relative to his production) that runs for a few more years, thereby precluding any deal, perhaps involving the Los Angeles Lakers, from materializing.</p><p>“This is a hypothetical discussion, but based on the situation. I’ll just say that we know the Hawks have been looking to unload De’Andre Hunter. Who is owed about 22 [million] this year, 23 next year, 25 the year after that. That’s not a great contract. Is it worth a team like the Lakers taking on that contract in what would be a financially motivated move for the Hawks?” Tim MacMahon of ESPN said in an appearance on The Hoop Collective podcast.</p><p>De’Andre Hunter, at first glance, looks like a player who could be of immense help to teams with contending ambitions. Hunter is a 6’8″ forward who’s in the middle of the prime years of his career, and he shot 38.5 percent from beyond the arc last season with the Hawks.</p><p>However, Hunter doesn’t do nearly enough in the other facets of the game to justify his contract worth $20+ million per year over the next three seasons. This has given teams who have shown interest in trading for Hunter some pause, with the Indiana Pacers and Dallas Mavericks, to name a few, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-mavs-95-million-reason-for-refusing-deandre-hunter-trade-with-hawks">looking elsewhere instead</a>.</p><p>But with Zaccharie Risacher being the Hawks’ number one developmental priority on the wing, not to mention Jalen Johnson’s presence at the four, it will be a tough pill to swallow for Atlanta to bring a player making as much money as Hunter is off the bench. Regardless, they might be stuck with Hunter given the circumstances.</p><h2><b>Can the Hawks defy expectations next season?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/DeAndre-Hunter-1.jpg"></figure><p>The past two seasons have been disappointing for the Hawks. Bringing Dejounte Murray in hasn’t yielded the success the front office thought the move would, so they cut their losses and started over. Now, many expect that the Hawks will be remaining in their mediocre ways for next season.</p><p>However, the Hawks might be a much-better team than expected for next season. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hawks-news-trae-young-lists-himself-all-time-nba-team">Trae Young is still at the controls</a>, and now that he won’t have to share ballhandling duties with Murray, he could, perhaps, average career-high numbers as the heliocentric source of the team’s offense.</p><p>Young would then be flanked by athletic, defensive-minded players who would make his life on that end of the floor that much easier. Dyson Daniels and Zaccharie Risacher are lengthy wings who could cover a ton of ground, while Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu comprise a very athletic frontcourt.</p><p>Off the bench, the Hawks have Bogdan Bogdanovic leading the way, with De’Andre Hunter providing a pinch of 3-and-D play, while Kobe Bufkin could be ready for minutes in Year 2. This seems like a very open-ended question right now, especially since the Hawks have various decisions to make. Not only does Atlanta own the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/2024-nba-mock-draft-3-0-donovan-clingan-to-rockets-amid-trade-rumors">first overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft</a>, which is scheduled for June 26, but they are also expected to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hawks-news-trae-young-dejounte-murray-talk-relationship-amid-trade-rumors">re-assess their backcourt pairing</a> of Dejounte Murray and Trae Young. Murray was a prominent name who appeared in various rumors ahead of the trade deadline. In addition to Murray and Young, the Hawks are also expected to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-fan-mailbag-hawks-plans-nba-draft-rumors">discuss the futures</a> of De’Andre Hunter and Clint Capela.</p><p>As of right now, the Hawks are eyeing three prospects in the NBA Draft: Alex Sarr, Zaccharie Risacher, and Donovan Clingan. Should the Hawks select Risacher and shock everyone, then Hunter’s name suddenly becomes intriguing in trade talks due to the abundance of wing talent in Atlanta. In regards to Capela, he appears to be on his way out, with Sarr being the likely first overall pick in this year’s draft.</p><p>Regardless of the Hawks’ No. 1 pick, they are expected to make both Hunter and Capela available in trade discussions leading up to and past the NBA Draft, league sources told ClutchPoints. Atlanta is by no means a contending team in the Eastern Conference right now, and change is necessary this offseason. At this moment, the franchise is keeping all of its options open. Figuring out what kind of value Hunter and Capela hold on the trade market during an offseason in which there will be plenty of movement is not a bad idea by any means.</p><p>Every player in the league has a price. Right now, there is no telling what type of value the Hawks could get for players on their roster. Murray appears to be the player who could net the most assets in a trade, but does Atlanta actually want to deal the two-way guard since he was their most productive player this past season? The same can be said about Young, who has been the face of the franchise since he was drafted fifth overall in 2018.</p><p>While other teams in their position may elect to go through a rebuilding process, the Hawks are still of the mindset that they can be a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference once more. Obviously, that is not the case with the way their roster is currently assembled, which is why general manager Landry Fields and Atlanta’s front office are going to keep an open mind as they navigate through this re-tooling phase.</p><p>With the draft near and the Hawks also keeping the idea of cutting long-term costs in order to maintain a level of flexibility, here are three trades that the organization could consider making this offseason involving Capela and Hunter.</p><h2><b>Brandon Ingram joins the Hawks</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Brandon-Ingram-passing.jpg"><figcaption>Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p><b><i>Atlanta Hawks receive: F Brandon Ingram, G Dyson Daniels, NOP 2028 1st Round Pick (Swap, Least favorable to ATL)</i></b></p><p><i><b>New Orleans Pelicans receive: F De’Andre Hunter, C Clint Capela, SAC 2025 1st Round Pick (via ATL, Top-12 protected), MIN 2025 2nd Round Pick (unprotected), LAC 2027 2nd Round Pick (via ATL, unprotected), ATL 2028 1st Round Pick (Swap, More favorable to NOP) </b></i></p><p>Much like the Hawks, the New Orleans Pelicans are going to be a busy team this offseason. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pistons-poach-trajan-langdon-from-pelicans-to-lead-front-office">Trajan Langdon jumped ship</a> for the Detroit Pistons after being the general manager in New Orleans over the last several seasons, leaving David Griffin as the sole decision-maker in the Pels’ front office. Brandon Ingram is entering the final year of his contract and has missed chunks of time each of the last few seasons due to injury. When he has been healthy, Ingram has generally been productive, but his upside in New Orleans is limited and he really struggled in the playoffs without Zion Williamson.</p><p>If there is any time for the Pelicans to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/best-brandon-ingram-trade-destinations-if-pelicans-break-up-roster">move on from Ingram</a> and revamp their roster around Williamson and CJ McCollum, now would be the opportune time. This is especially true seeing as the organization views Trey Murphy III as a potential All-Star talent on the wing. Murphy is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and it appears much more likely that NOLA will want to pay him over Ingram.</p><p>The market for a player like Ingram, who may not be ready to commit to a long-term contract with unrestricted free agency in 2025 staring him down, is very much unknown at this time. However, it is safe to assume that the Pelicans will be seeking a package similar to what the Toronto Raptors got at the trade deadline from the Indiana Pacers <a href="https://www.nba.com/news/raptors-pacers-pascal-siakam-trade" rel="noopener">for Pascal Siakam</a>, who was on an expiring contract. The Raptors landed Bruce Brown, Kira Lewis Jr., Jordan Nwora, two 2024 first-round picks, and a conditional 2026 first-round pick.</p><p>Although they have shown recent <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-pelicans-dejounte-murray-trade-pursuit-gets-update-as-he-misses-hawks-game-vs-celtics">interest in Dejounte Murray</a> and would likely demand him in a trade for Ingram, perhaps the Hawks could look to sway New Orleans’ mind in a different direction. De’Andre Hunter and Clint Capela would immediately slide into the Pelicans’ starting rotation. Capela could be valuable, with Jonas Valanciunas entering unrestricted free agency and likely to seek offers elsewhere. Already having Herb Jones as one of the best defensive players in the league, New Orleans would now add another versatile two-way forward who is looking for a better role offensively in Hunter.</p><p>The two key questions that present themselves in the trade package outline here are whether the Pelicans would seek more first-round draft compensation and if the Hawks would want to target a former All-Star in the final year of his contract. Bringing in Ingram to pair with Young and Murray, as well as the incoming first overall pick, could certainly stir the pot in the Eastern Conference. Then again, the Hawks would have done nothing to improve their long-term payroll problems. This would be a big risk for Atlanta to take without any long-term commitment from Ingram.</p><h2><b>Mavericks add De’Andre Hunter</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/DeAndre-Hunter-celebrating.jpg"><figcaption>Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p><b><i>Atlanta Hawks receive: G Tim Hardaway Jr., G Josh Green, BOS 2024 2nd Round Pick (via DAL, Pick No. 58), TOR 2025 2nd Round Pick (via DAL, unprotected)</i></b></p><p><i><b>Dallas Mavericks receive: F De’Andre Hunter, G/F AJ Griffin </b></i></p><p>The Dallas Mavericks have had a magical season and are currently fighting against the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. When the offseason begins for the Mavs, they will be operating with a payroll that exceeds $170 million. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are set to make over $80 million combined next season, and this team won’t have any ability to add impactful players in free agency. The good news for Dallas is that they have tradeable contracts with Tim Hardaway Jr. ($16.1 million), Maxi Kleber ($11 million), and Dwight Powell ($4 million) that could be leveraged at any point for a player with a similar contract.</p><p>Although they have been a great defensive team throughout the playoffs, the Mavericks are still lacking talent and defensive awareness on the wing. Adding shooting depth and a player like Hunter, who can guard virtually any position, gives the Mavs yet another weapon to utilize next to Doncic and Irving.</p><p>The best part about this trade from Dallas’ perspective is they wouldn’t be sacrificing much in terms of production. Hardaway has fallen out of the rotation in the playoffs, and Josh Green’s athleticism would be replicated by Hunter on the wing. Not to mention, AJ Griffin is a recent first-round pick who presents scoring upside. Due to some injuries he has battled early on in his career, Griffin’s role and future in Atlanta are certainly worth discussing this offseason.</p><p>Compared to other teams around the league, the Mavs may not have much to offer the Hawks in order to make a trade like this worthwhile. Dallas is certainly a team that Hunter could fit in with if Atlanta moves him this offseason, but this seems like a scenario that would likely involve one other team where the Hawks could either re-route Hardaway or gain more draft assets. Two second-round picks and two rotational players for Hunter and Griffin, two players with potential to grow, are not the best.</p><h2><b>Thunder replace Josh Giddey</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Josh-Giddey.jpg"><figcaption>Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p><b><i>Atlanta Hawks receive: G/F Josh Giddey, F Ousmane Dieng, MIA 2025 1st Round Pick (via OKC, Lottery-Protected)</i></b></p><p><b><i>Oklahoma City Thunder receive: F De’Andre Hunter, G/F AJ Griffin</i></b></p><p>What do Sam Presti and the Oklahoma City Thunder have planned this offseason? After claiming the 1-seed in the Western Conference, it has become abundantly clear that the Thunder are no longer rebuilding. This is a team that has numerous future assets that they can offer up in trades during the offseason in order to fill the gaps around Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has emerged as a legitimate MVP candidate.</p><p>There are questions being asked around the league about who will remain next to Gilgeous-Alexander in the long term. Chet Holmgren is not going anywhere, and the chances of Presti entertaining the idea of moving Jalen Williams are extremely slim. Between Luguentz Dort and Josh Giddey, it would make the most sense for Oklahoma City to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-josh-giddey-trade-buzz-picks-up-disappointing-season-thunder">move on from Giddey</a>. He did not have the most productive season, and the Thunder are exceptionally high on Cason Wallace filling minutes both behind and next to Gilgeous-Alexander.</p><p>As he enters the final year of his rookie deal, now would be the best time for Oklahoma City to move Giddey for a productive wing who can complement Dort’s defensive play. Hunter is a win-now player available on the trade market. At 26 years old, he lines up perfectly with the Thunder’s current timeline since Gilgeous-Alexander is 25 and Williams is 23. The best part about going out and getting Hunter is the upside he brings as a two-way wing who could actually turn into a factor as a rebounder with the right team. Much like how Andrew Wiggins turned into a great two-way player when he went to the Golden State Warriors, we could see similar development with Hunter in Oklahoma City.</p><p>From the Hawks’ perspective, they would be getting Giddey, who could be flipped for more assets, and a young player in Ousmane Dieng. The French forward is 6’10” and has shown flashes of his offensive potential in limited minutes early on in his career. Regardless of the first overall pick, the Hawks would be able to immediately create a lengthy frontcourt with the addition of Dieng next to Onyeka Okongwu and Jalen Johnson.</p><p>Across the board, this is a very fair trade for both teams.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Instead, the unthinkable happened. Going on a huge rally, the Hawks managed to edge out a 120-118 win over the Eastern Conference giants, much to the delight of their home crowd. The game was sealed by a go-ahead three-pointer courtesy of De’Andre Hunter, who had 24 points in the victory.</p><p>After the game, Hunter <a href="https://twitter.com/HawksOnBally/status/1772443045180432799" rel="noopener">relayed what happened</a> on that crucial possession.</p><p>“I think CC (Clint Capela) got a big rebound,” Hunter said, per Bally Sports: Hawks. “And I just found the open spot. Once Boston mounted the 30-point lead, Atlanta managed to trim the lead down to 18 entering halftime. As the third quarter started, the Hawks would continue their run. They <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/celtics-news-jayson-tatum-admits-boston-fked-the-game-up-embarrassing-collapse-hawks" rel="noopener">outscored the Celtics</a> 34-22 in the third, and early in the fourth, a Wesley Matthews triple gave the Hawks their first taste of the lead.</p><p>From then on the game would be tight, with six additional lead changes until the final buzzer. Bogdan Bogdanovic added 22 points <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hawks-news-dejounte-murray-led-comeback-vs-celtics-puts-atlanta-exclusive-company" rel="noopener">while Dejounte Murray</a> tallied a double-double of 19 points and 15 assists.</p><p>The Hawks also received a huge boost from their other role players. Forward Vit Krejci energized the team with 16 points while centers Clint Capela and Bruno Fernando made their presence felt with 14 and 13 points, respectively.</p><p>It can also be noted that Atlanta was without Trae Young for the night, which makes the comeback even more impressive on their end (and more frustrating on Boston’s).</p><p>As of Monday, the Hawks continue to hold the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference. In other words, they’re set for a play-in appearance as long as they secure the spot. They’re catching up to the Chicago Bulls too. The Hawks are now on a two-game winning streak while the ninth-seeded Bulls have lost three straight. A .21% winning percentage separates both teams.</p><p>With momentum on their side, De’Andre Hunter and the Atlanta Hawks look to add another victory against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Cavs have tons of momentum in their corner, with some thinking they could have a shot to make a deep run in the Eastern Conference come playoff time.</p><p>However, even when Garland and Mobley return to the floor, the Cavs realistically only have 12 players to lean on most nights. Sure, 10-day signees Pete Nance, Ty Jerome, and Damian Jones are on the roster. But Cleveland head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said that Nance will likely spend most of his contract with the Cleveland Charge, the Cavs’ NBA G League affiliate. Meanwhile, Jerome hasn’t played for Cleveland since their home-opening loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Damian Jones has been phased out of the rotation entirely in favor of veteran big man Tristan Thompson.</p><p>That’s why the annual trade deadline is fast approaching; the Cavs will look to add more depth pieces to their rotation. According to NBA Insider Marc Stein, through his Substack <i>The Stein Line</i>, Atlanta Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter could <a href="https://marcstein.substack.com/p/more-from-the-nba-trade-season-grapevine" rel="noopener">be on Cleveland’s radar</a> before the deadline passes.</p><p>“Atlanta’s De’Andre Hunter is said to be another name to watch in Cleveland’s ongoing search for a 3-and-D upgrade — although absorbing Hunter’s contract (which has three seasons and $70 million left on it after this season) makes him a challenging payroll fit (and, frankly, difficult for the Hawks to trade anywhere).”</p><p>According to sources, this wouldn’t be the first time the Cavs have tried to acquire Hunter since Cleveland was trying to acquire him and Darius Garland on the night of the 2019 NBA Draft. On paper, the fit would be seamless, giving the Cavs a player who could defend multiple spots on the floor, fire away from the perimeter, and fill their need for a bigger wing that can be at either forward position. Unfortunately, for those who are hoping to order a custom No. 12 Hunter jersey in wine, black, or gold, the Atlanta forward just isn’t a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/cavs-trade-targets-2023-24-nba-season" rel="noopener">realistic trade target for Cleveland</a>.</p><h2><b>The Cavs don’t need to make a move for Hunter</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/JB-Bickerstaff_s-net-worth-in-2023-2.jpeg"></figure><p>To Stein’s point, Hunter is in the first year of his four-year, $<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hawks-offseason-recap-2023-john-collins-trae-young-dejounte-murray" rel="noopener">90 million contract extension</a>, with his current salary earning him $20.1 million a season. For the Cavs, who are limited asset-wise already, it would require stacking up multiple salaries to satiate the financial ramifications of acquiring Hunter.</p><p>To land Hunter, Cleveland would have to give up Jarrett Allen or a combination of either Caris LeVert or Max Strus, along with the smaller salaries of Jerome, Jones, or even Dean Wade. Trading Allen for Hunter would be a fireable offense for any team. Ditto for trying to send out one of LeVert or Strus, two of the team’s most dynamic roleplayers. More importantly, the fact that the Cavs, a team that already is limited depth-wise to begin with would have to give up multiple players for just Hunter makes the juice not worth the squeeze for Cleveland. Teams only make moves on that level to acquire a superstar, which Hunter simply isn’t.</p><p>It’s also not hard for the Cavs to ignore Hunter’s future financial guarantees. Again, he’s just entering the first year of a four-year contract extension and for a team as thin on the margins as Cleveland, Hunter’s contract could ruin everything they’ve built. Donovan Mitchell’s <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-donovan-mitchell-happy-cavs-not-seeking-trade" rel="noopener">future in Cleveland</a> would become nearly impossible to function financially if the Cavs acquired Hunter. Ditto for possibly signing Jarrett Allen to another extension or even the money involved for the Cavs to sign Evan Mobley to a full-scale rookie contract extension.</p><p>With all that in mind, having financial flexibility in the future is far more important than an overpaid roleplayer like Hunter. There’s a reason why the Hawks are struggling to unload his salary already, especially since teams that might be interested want to be able to make further moves while navigating the ramifications of the NBA’s new Collective Bargaining Agreement.</p><p>So, as fun as the idea is for Cleveland to go nuclear and acquire Hunter, they should be looking for a smaller explosive to continue igniting their run. Sources say Brooklyn’s Royce O’Neale or even Atlanta’s Sadiq Bey could be more realistic viable options for the Cavs. But there’s still some time left until Cleveland decides on the deadline. Atlanta says Hunter will be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks,” Stein wrote on X (formerly Twitter).</p><p>The procedure is reportedly scheduled for Tuesday, and the Hawks will then assess Hunter’s health in two weeks.</p><h2><b>De’Andre Hunter’s strong 2023-24 season for Hawks</b></h2><p>The Hawks are 12-17 so far in 2023-24. It has been an underwhelming season that’s led to a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-knicks-interested-trade-hawks-dejounte-murray-but-theres-rich-paul-problem" rel="noopener">plethora of trade rumors</a>.</p><p>Hunter, meanwhile, is averaging 14.9 points per game on 46 percent field goal and 40.4 percent three-point shooting. He is also recording 4.1 rebounds per game.</p><p>Hunter has quietly put together not just a strong season, but an overall impressive career. It kicks off in the upcoming 2023-24 campaign, with the young forward set to earn at least $20 million annually from the deal.</p><p>According to the latest updates, the Mavs “<a href="https://www.si.com/nba/mavericks/news/dallas-mavs-josh-green-jaden-hardy-clint-capela-atlanta-hawks-trade" rel="noopener">liked the player but</a> not at that money,” Tim MacMahon of ESPN shared on The Hoop Collective podcast, via Sports Illustrated.</p><p>The Hawks’ top brass has reportedly given a mandate for the team to avoid the luxury tax. With that said, it might be the reason why they are trying to get De’Andre Hunter’s contract off their books.</p><p>It’s unknown what the Hawks wanted in a trade for Hunter, but the Mavs surely made the right decision avoiding the deal. Perhaps the Hawks are setting their sights towards acquiring the likes of Pistons veterans Bojan Bogdanovic, Alec Burks, or perhaps even the Pacers’ Buddy Hield.</p><p>At $22.5 million per year, however, the Hawks certainly would want more bang for their buck from Hunter, whose production has stagnated since breaking out during the 2020-21 season.</p><p>As for John Collins, his $25 million per year contract that runs until 2026 has quickly become one of the most onerous financial burdens in the association. Collins, much like Hunter, has stagnated. Or even worse, the 25-year old big man has declined. Heading into their upcoming contest against the Sixers, unfortunately, his status remains up in the air, as he is currently listed as “questionable” as a result of the lingering ailments, as per the <a href="https://ak-static.cms.nba.com/referee/injury/Injury-Report_2023-04-07_08AM.pdf" rel="noopener">league’s official injury report</a>.</p><p>Despite the club’s rather <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hawks-news-shocking-mediocrity-will-blow-your-mind-with-nba-playoffs-looming" rel="noopener">underwhelming season turnout</a> when compared to preseason expectations, at least from a statistical standpoint, Hunter finds himself amid arguably the best campaign of his career.</p><p>Through 65 games played, the wing is posting impressive averages of 15.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists while shooting 45.9% from the field and 35.1% from distance.</p><p>Should the fourth-year veteran be held out for Friday’s affair, it would mark his 16 missed game on the year. In games in which Hunter has been relegated to the sidelines this season, the Hawks have gone just 6-8.</p><p>Now, considering Atlanta has won three straight games heading into this home tilt against the Sixers, coupled with the fact that Philadelphia just got whooped by the seventh-seeded Miami Heat Thursday night, it’s a rather reasonable belief that the Hawks, with or without Hunter, can scrape out their fourth consecutive win.</p><p>However, having the 25-year-old in tow would be the ideal scenario for this club. But, it does appear they will be in the play-in tournament, despite a pedestrian 38-39 record. While Murray and Trae Young are the stars of this team, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hawks-news-atlanta-makes-95-million-decision-on-deandre-hunter-right-before-deadline" rel="noopener">De’Andre Hunter</a> is a very important role player for this franchise and after he missed Friday’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets, there was some concern.</p><p>That being said, Hunter <a href="https://twitter.com/ATLHawks/status/1642269906514108416" rel="noopener">looks to be fine</a>. The former Virginia standout had an MRI Saturday and is just dealing with a bone bruise and muscle strain in his knee. He’s day-to-day moving forward, as reported by the Hawks.</p><p>Atlanta did say Hunter would be unavailable to suit up on Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks. They have two days off after that before a back-to-back, therefore the forward could be held out until Wednesday’s matchup versus Washington.</p><p>The 25-year-old is putting up 15.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and dishing out 1.4 assists per contest in 2022-23, ranking third on the Hawks in scoring behind their dynamic backcourt duo. He’s also shooting 35% from long range, starting in all of his 65 appearances. His scoring numbers are a career-high.</p><p>If Quin Snyder’s group is going to make any noise in the play-in and beyond though, it’ll be crucial that Hunter is healthy. Considering it’s not a serious injury, he shouldn’t be out too long.</p><p>Definitely a relief for a Hawks team who needs all the help they can get this season.
