He has not been finding consistent playing time with Washington as before the All-Star break, he logged single-digit minutes in four straight games.</p><p>Adding a guard seemed like the next move and they did just that with Wright who is a veteran that is looking to make an immediate<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-terry-rozier-avoids-serious-knee-injury-mri-results" rel="noopener"> impact with Miami</a>. On the season so far, he is averaging 4.1 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 39.3 percent from the field in 13.8 minutes per game.</p><p>The Heat are 30-25 on the season heading into the aforementioned break which puts them seventh in the Eastern Conference. If that’s the case, rumors suggest playoff-caliber teams will be interested in signing the veteran guard.</p><p>One team <a href="https://hoopshype.com/lists/nba-intel-a-near-trade-deadline-deal-and-buyout-market-updates/" rel="noopener">to keep an eye on</a> is the Phoenix Suns, per Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype. But Wright very well could have multiple suitors after the All-Star break.</p><p>“Several playoff contenders, including the Suns, are monitoring whether Wizards guard Delon Wright will be bought out, league sources told HoopsHype. Since the trade deadline, Wright has averaged 4.6 minutes per game in four games for Washington heading into the All-Star break.”</p><p>Wright’s been in the NBA for nine seasons and has served as a consistent backup option throughout his career. This season alone he’s averaging 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. If he is bought out <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/wizards-news-tyus-jones-gives-eye-opening-leadership-admission-after-washingtons-trade-deadline-decision-to-keep-him" rel="noopener">by the Wizards</a> then Wright should garner plenty of interest from playoff-caliber teams.</p><p>It’s interesting the Suns are the team named in the report. They’re a team that used a ton of cap space and draft capital to build the roster they have now. Finding quality players for cheap is ideal for Phoenix. So it makes sense why they’re involved in the rumors regarding the Wizards’ guard.</p><p>With that said, keep an eye out for Delon Wright updates after the All-Star break. Depending on what the Wizards’ front office wants to do. He played 50 games for the Wizards this season, and his name was not thrown around much when discourse was made regarding who should be All-NBA on the defensive side.</p><p>Fortunately for Wright, there is precedent for players seeing their Twitter claims come to fruition. Just this season, the NBA MVP award was won by Joel Embiid, who called his shot on Twitter almost a decade ago. It gives Wright a great example to follow and that it is certainly possible to follow through on award claims.</p><p>With all of that being said, Wright will have to prove a lot next year if he is actually going to end up on an All-NBA defensive team. There are plenty of more worthy snubs this year, namely the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis, that would most likely earn spots above Wright next season.</p><p>However, if Wright can play enough games next season, there is definitely an opportunity to make his goals come true. He will have to play 65 games, as that is the new requirement put in place by the NBA for a player to be eligible for a postseason award.</p><p>In the end, it is an admirable goal set by Delon Wright that would be an impressive feat. Holiday adds an extra layer of depth behind superstar Trae Young and newly acquired Dejounte Murray. Additionally, it helps make up for losing Delon Wright to the Wizards. </p><p>Holiday has been in the NBA since 2018. He hasn’t been a standout player in the league, but Holiday features positive attributes. He profiles as an athletic guard with impressive instincts on the court. Holiday averaged around 6.5 points and just under 3 assists last season between the Wizards and Suns. </p><p>For his career, Aaron Holiday owns a three-point percentage upwards of 37 percent. His efficiency from deep to go along with playmaking prowess makes him a quality option off of the bench. </p><p>The Hawks have already been busy this offseason. Atlanta’s high-profile move was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/spurs-news-dejounte-murray-blockbuster-trade-to-hawks-official/">acquiring 2021-2022 breakout star</a> Dejounte Murray from the San Antonio Spurs for Danilo Gallinari and picks. Atlanta is aiming to build a contender after a fairly mediocre season. </p><p>Hawks President of Basketball Operations Travis Schlenk <a href="https://www.nba.com/hawks/news/hawks-acquire-all-star-guard-dejounte-murray">commented on the Dejounte Murray trade</a>.</p><blockquote>“The opportunity to acquire a player of Dejounte’s caliber, just entering his prime, doesn’t come along too often,” Schlenk said. “He has developed into one of the elite two-way guards in the league and we’re thrilled to add him to our group. The coach-turned-executive of the Boston Celtics is wheeling and dealing. His Friday trade which initially seemed to be a two-team package has become a three-team deal. Earlier reports said that Boston had sent Tristan Thompson to the Atlanta Hawks <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/boston-celtics/news">on Friday</a> in exchange for Kris Dunn and Bruno Fernando <a href="https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1421224078824910852">plus a future</a> NBA draft pick. Dunn and Fernando are still headed to New England, but Thompson’s landing spot has changed. They recently dealt Kemba Walker and now have another ball-handler on their roster. We will see where Dunn fits into the picture in Boston.</p><p>The Celtics have Marcus Smart and young point guard Payton Pritchard in the fold. If you realize that the Hawks drafted Trae Young’s backup point guard Thursday night, taking Sharife Cooper with the No. 48 pick, it’s obvious they had no need for Dunn.</p><p>This raises the question: If Kris Dunn wasn’t good enough to be the main backup point guard for the Hawks, what does Stevens see in Dunn as a member of the Celtics? It’s true that Boston is getting three pieces in this three-way deal, but the return Boston will get on this investment doesn’t seem substantial.</p><p>It could easily be the case that the Celtics are making this move to set up another move in the coming weeks of free agency, so keep your eyes and ears open for chatter and player pursuits in Brad Stevens’ office.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
