He has not been finding consistent playing time with Washington as before the All-Star break, he logged single-digit minutes in four straight games.</p><p>Adding a guard seemed like the next move and they did just that with Wright who is a veteran that is looking to make an immediate<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-terry-rozier-avoids-serious-knee-injury-mri-results" rel="noopener"> impact with Miami</a>. On the season so far, he is averaging 4.1 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 39.3 percent from the field in 13.8 minutes per game.</p><p>The Heat are 30-25 on the season heading into the aforementioned break which puts them seventh in the Eastern Conference. If that’s the case, rumors suggest playoff-caliber teams will be interested in signing the veteran guard.</p><p>One team <a href="https://hoopshype.com/lists/nba-intel-a-near-trade-deadline-deal-and-buyout-market-updates/" rel="noopener">to keep an eye on</a> is the Phoenix Suns, per Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype. But Wright very well could have multiple suitors after the All-Star break.</p><p>“Several playoff contenders, including the Suns, are monitoring whether Wizards guard Delon Wright will be bought out, league sources told HoopsHype. Since the trade deadline, Wright has averaged 4.6 minutes per game in four games for Washington heading into the All-Star break.”</p><p>Wright’s been in the NBA for nine seasons and has served as a consistent backup option throughout his career. This season alone he’s averaging 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. If he is bought out <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/wizards-news-tyus-jones-gives-eye-opening-leadership-admission-after-washingtons-trade-deadline-decision-to-keep-him" rel="noopener">by the Wizards</a> then Wright should garner plenty of interest from playoff-caliber teams.</p><p>It’s interesting the Suns are the team named in the report. They’re a team that used a ton of cap space and draft capital to build the roster they have now. Finding quality players for cheap is ideal for Phoenix. So it makes sense why they’re involved in the rumors regarding the Wizards’ guard.</p><p>With that said, keep an eye out for Delon Wright updates after the All-Star break. Depending on what the Wizards’ front office wants to do. He played 50 games for the Wizards this season, and his name was not thrown around much when discourse was made regarding who should be All-NBA on the defensive side.</p><p>Fortunately for Wright, there is precedent for players seeing their Twitter claims come to fruition. Just this season, the NBA MVP award was won by Joel Embiid, who called his shot on Twitter almost a decade ago. It gives Wright a great example to follow and that it is certainly possible to follow through on award claims.</p><p>With all of that being said, Wright will have to prove a lot next year if he is actually going to end up on an All-NBA defensive team. There are plenty of more worthy snubs this year, namely the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis, that would most likely earn spots above Wright next season.</p><p>However, if Wright can play enough games next season, there is definitely an opportunity to make his goals come true. He will have to play 65 games, as that is the new requirement put in place by the NBA for a player to be eligible for a postseason award.</p><p>In the end, it is an admirable goal set by Delon Wright that would be an impressive feat. He hasn’t been a standout player in the league, but Holiday features positive attributes. He profiles as an athletic guard with impressive instincts on the court. Holiday averaged around 6.5 points and just under 3 assists last season between the Wizards and Suns. </p><p>For his career, Aaron Holiday owns a three-point percentage upwards of 37 percent. His efficiency from deep to go along with playmaking prowess makes him a quality option off of the bench. </p><p>The Hawks have already been busy this offseason. The veteran guard is under contract for next season as well, when he will be due around $8.5 million.</p><p>On the other hand, Cory Joseph has been a dependable depth option for the Kings this season, logging 21.5 minutes per game off the bench to accompany his 6.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists.</p><p>The deal, <a href="https://twitter.com/WorldWideWob/status/1374942092254924801?s=20">according to Woj himself,</a> is a small one, but could still have a positive impact for both ball clubs. For Detroit, a couple more picks and an expiring contract helps them nicely to their rebuild timeline.</p><p>For the Kings, they add a starting caliber guard to the mix to provide backup for the trio of De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield. Sacramento is still in the hunt for the playoffs, and after Wednesday’s win against the Atlanta Hawks and the acquisition of Wright, that goal could soon be realized.</p><p>It remains to be seen what other moves will the two teams make by the trade deadline, but it sure looks like they are positioning themselves nicely to make some key moves that have long-term effects.</p><p>The Kings have been active recently and have been involved in multiple trade rumors. Smith was acquired in the trade that sent guard Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks, and has played five games for the Pistons so far.</p><p>But with Wright and Hayes still sidelined by injuries, Smith could receive more action on the court in head coach Dwane Casey’s rotation and could be an interesting pickup for fantasy owners looking for players to add to their teams. The 23-year-old has averaged 4.6 points, two rebounds, and 2.6 assists on 30% shooting from the field so far in his short stint in Detroit.</p><p>While those numbers aren’t great, Smith has also played an average of just 16 minutes per contest, which doesn’t give him much of a chance to showcase his talents. But with their guard rotation thinning due to injuries, the ninth overall pick of the 2017 Draft could see his production increase. While Smith hasn’t shown yet that he can score as he did during his time with the Dallas Mavericks, he can fill up the box score and contribute in other departments, something that fantasy owners might find intriguing.</p><p>Against Memphis, Dennis Smith Jr. didn’t score and missed all seven of his shots, but pulled down four rebounds, dished out five assists, and had three steals and three blocks in 23 minutes. With his playing time likely to increase, fantasy owners may look to add a potential <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/dennis-smith-jr-and-the-2-best-reclamation-projects-in-the-nba/">reclamation project like Smith</a> to their lineups that can give their teams an unexpected boost.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

In fact, Kristaps Porzingis and Delon Wright pulled off a beautiful play that ended in a powerful slam.</p><p>It happened during one of Dallas’s fast transition attacks. The Kings were barely able to get together a defense when Wright stopped just a bit beyond the free-throw line. Their franchise player is always an unstoppable force on the court whenever he’s not injured, and he showed just that against the Kings. Meanwhile, Porzingis is slowly but surely getting his groove back. According to Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle, the groin strain that point guard Delon Wright suffered in Saturday’s game against the Pelicans isn’t as serious as first thought.</p><p>Carlisle stated that the fifth-year guard does not have a timetable for return, but he has not yet been ruled out for the Mavs’ Thursday matchup against the Detroit Pistons in Mexico.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe class="no-margin"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Carlisle said Delon Wright (groin strain) will not play vs. the Kings tonight. In 22 games, the former Utah University playmaker has averaged 7.5 points, 3.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 38.1 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from deep.</p><p>In a Nov. 25 game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Wright scored a season-high 20 points off the bench to help the Mavs towards a 123-116 win.</p><p>The 27-year-old has played in three different teams since being drafted No. 20 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors.</p><p>After being traded to Memphis last year as a part of the Marc Gasol trade, Wright was sent to Dallas in the offseason as a part of a sign-and-trade deal that sent two future second round picks to the Grizzlies. It’s been an underwhelming campaign for the former Utah Utes who got signed to a three-year $29 million deal in the offseason by Dallas.</p><p>Flashes of Wright’s upside was evident in his short run with the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/memphis-grizzlies/">Memphis Grizzlies</a> last season, churning all-around numbers of 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.6 steals per game and in a contract year. In Dallas, he’s been relegated to a backup role behind <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/players/luka-doncic/b74d0a0c/">Luka Doncic</a>, who’s having an MVP-type of a season thus far.</p><p>Wright is a career 33 percent shooter from downtown but such accuracy seems to be insufficient if he were to enjoy a regular dose of big minutes for head coach Rick Carlisle. The Mavs are building their team around Doncic and the Slovenian’s style of play prompts shooters around him all the time to maximize his playmaking.</p><p>To be fair, Wright has been durable since the 2018-19 season. While the Hall of Famer didn’t exactly spend his best years with the team, his contributions as the team’s floor general on both sides of the ball were vital for their improbable upset of the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/miami-heat">Miami Heat</a>. Throughout his eight seasons with Dallas, he averaged 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 1.9 steals a night.</p><p>Wright put on a superb performance as the starting point guard. He finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. It was an overall great performance after finishing their opener against the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/washington-wizards">Washington Wizards</a> with only five points.</p><p>Wright is not a name that pops up often among NBA fans when talking about reliable guards, but he’s built quite a career for himself. He has career averages of 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. His numbers made a huge jump when he was traded to the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/memphis-grizzlies">Memphis Grizzlies</a> from the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/toronto-raptors">Toronto Raptors</a> last season. He spent his first four and a half years with the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/toronto-raptors">Toronto Raptors</a> where he spent the majority of his time with the Raptors 905 of the G League.</p><p>In 26 games with the Grizzlies, Wright averaged <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/wrighde01.html">12.2 points</a>, 5.3 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 steals across 30.8 minutes.
