Many of Booker’s PE (player exclusive) shoes are inspired by previous basketball shoes he grew up loving, particularly a Suns-themed colorway from the Nike Penny V. With guys like Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant, those are three of the best players ever to play the game.</p><p>As a result, Booker wasn’t going to have the ball in his hands a majority of the time. He deferred to those three to make the tough plays. Simultaneously, he was doing all of the little things.</p><p>Playing defense, being a catch-and-shoot guy, along with fitting into his role was what USA needed. They ended up winning the Gold Medal against France in the 2024 Summer Olympics.</p><p>Coming back to the States though, there was a difference. Booker has deferred to Durant a ton, and played within the offensive system. There hasn’t been the takeover ability that has been present in past seasons.</p><h2><b>Carmelo Anthony sees Team USA culture influencing Suns’ Devin Booker</b></h2><p>The Team USA culture is a beneficial one, to say the least. Again, it is based on selflessness and making the right play. However, the NBA can be a bit different than that sometimes.</p><p>At certain points, the superstars will need to take over a game. For instance, Booker dropped 47 points against the Utah Jazz without Durant and Bradley Beal.</p><p>The scoring mentality was on display, and he was doing everything to will his team to a win. The winning mentality has been there, but the killer instinct has been dialed back a bit. As a result, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/phoenix-suns/suns-biggest-disappointment-early-2024-25-season">Booker was a bit disappointing to start the Suns season</a>.</p><p>His numbers still support him being a top player at his position. 25.3 points, and 7.1 assists per game is still impressive. However, that headspace he was in with Chris Paul as his teammate, seems to be forgotten.</p><p>That side of Booker hasn’t been there for the past season. Although the <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/44237621/next-kevin-durant-devin-booker-phoenix-suns" rel="noopener">two-man game</a> of Booker and Durant has been elite, the franchise guard has sacrificed his takeover ability.</p><p>With only eight games left, the Suns will need everything they can get. As they’re desperately fighting for a play-in spot, time is ticking.</p><p>Giving Booker the green light to takeover will be a must for the Suns chances of heading to the play-in and possibly the playoffs.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Although they tried a new format, it didn’t go as well as initially planned. However, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/nba-news-adam-silver-admits-2025-all-star-game-failure">Silver took ownership of the flawed All-Star Game</a>.</p><p>Following the report, Booker spoke at Friday’s shoot-around to AZCentral’s Duane Rankin. However, Silver managed to do it, and took some criticism for it. Before that though, a myriad of criticism came in, courtesy of the players.</p><p>For instance, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/phoenix-suns/suns-news-kevin-durant-rips-terrible-new-nba-all-star-game-format">Suns forward Kevin Durant ripped the new All-Star Game format</a>, detailing what plenty of players were thinking. It’s time to get back to the basics.</p><h2><b>Suns’ Devin Booker appreciates Adam Silver’s All-Star Game critiques</b></h2><p>Although the league would want to make the game more interesting, sticking with a bread-and-butter approach never hurt. In the 2020 season, they added a new method of reaching a target score.</p><p>While that game was to honor Kobe Bryant, it was a major turnout for the league. Guys were competitive, and playing for something bigger than themselves. Even with it being an All-Star Game, the best in the world showed out.</p><p>Much like Booker, Durant added more thoughts on how Silver has <a href="https://x.com/DuaneRankin/status/1905679376517124358" rel="noopener">been forthcoming</a> with the All-Star Game.</p><p>“I trust Adam (Silver),” Durant said via Rankin. “He’s pushed this league forward, but s**t doesn’t work all the time. But I can appreciate trying to be innovative and creative.”</p><p>The game itself only drew 4.7 million viewers, a <a href="https://brockpress.com/nba-all-star-game-effort-declines-as-do-ratings/" rel="noopener">13% drop-off</a> from 2024. The NBA is a business, and that’s a metric they’ll likely harp on. However, the players mentioned their dissatisfaction with the new format.</p><p>It might’ve been a new way to entertain the game. Regardless of that though, it’s clear that the new format didn’t pan out the way Silver would’ve wanted.</p><p>Through this gray period, there might be more method that flop. Luckily though, the league could take some inspiration from the NHL’s 4 Nations Face Off.</p><p>As a result, the NHL had one of the highest viewerships of an All-Star Game in quite some time. While the two leagues are vastly different, experimenting in this gray area is the best thing Silver could do.</p><p>Furthermore, bringing in more ideas from the players could help generate and fun, yet competitive game.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

It was a tightly contested game between the Bucks and the Suns. There were 15 lead changes and the game was tied 10 times.</p><p>Regardless, Booker unleashed that killer instinct in the final quarter. He hit tough basket after tough basket. Not to mention, this is the Suns’ first four-game winning streak since November.</p><p>Funny enough, the shot itself wasn’t meant for Booker. It was originally meant for Kevin Durant. As Booker mentioned postgame, it was a similar play to what they drew up in the Summer Olympics.</p><p>Still, Booker got to his favorite spot within the mid-range. He knocked down that 17th, 18th, and 19th points of the game. His teammates immediately surrounded him with chest bumps, dap-ups and overall excitement.</p><p>The win itself marks arguably the best game of the season. It was grueling, without a plethora of three-pointers or overall offense. Overall, it was a slugfest.</p><h2><b>Devin Booker’s game-winner helps the Suns get fourth straight victory</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Devin-Booker-1.jpg"><figcaption>© Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Either way, this was a game that electrified the city, the fanbase, and the team as a whole. It felt like a playoff atmosphere for the better part of 48 minutes.</p><p>Although the 30-25 first quarter run by Milwaukee was a bit overwhelming, the regrouped and focused. Not to mention, it was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/phoenix-suns/suns-news-mike-budenholzer-stern-reaction-coaching-against-bucks">Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer’s first time coaching against the Bucks</a> since he was fired.</p><p>While the latter said that the game isn’t about him, it might’ve added more fuel to the fire. Even Durant acknowledged that the game might have Budenholzer more amped up.</p><p>Still, Giannis Antetokounmpo made life extremely challenging for the Suns. His physicality was on full display. Despite all of that, the killer instinct was full throttle.</p><p>The mamba mentality that Booker <a href="https://valleyofthesuns.com/2021/08/30/phoenix-suns-devin-booker-compare-kobe-bryant/#:~:text=Exactly%20like%20Bryant%20as%20well,and%20a%20Mamba%2Dlike%20focus." rel="noopener">based his game</a> off of is one of the most recognized. The late, great Kobe Bryant would’ve been happy to see that tough shot he hit.</p><p>Although it was originally meant for Durant, that’s the beauty of having two elite players. They can each take the game-winning shot at any time.</p><p>The Suns will take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, who might be without Jayson Tatum.
