Booker (31 points) and Brooks (22 points) led the team in Wednesday’s win.</p><p>However, after Friday’s 129-102 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Brooks <a href="https://twitter.com/DuaneRankin/status/1981990147878175091" rel="noopener">spoke out</a> about Booker’s attempts, per Suns insider Duane Rankin.</p><p>“He needs to shoot them even if it looks like a bad shot. I played against Devin for a long time,” Brooks said. “He’s a natural scorer. Finds ways to score. He just needs to be a little selfish out there.”</p><p>Devin Booker finished with 18 points on 5-of-10 attempts, while Dillon Brooks scored 21 points on 7-of-17 tries. Grayson Allen added 12 points on 4-of-12, as Booker was uncharacteristically shy as third for most attempts for the Suns. As the Suns and the Suns are still finding continuity among many new parts, including Brooks, who was part of the Kevin Durant blockbuster trade.</p><p>Ball distribution between Brooks, Booker, and Allen will figure itself out. It’s not a concern for now. Even with hiring former Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach Jordan Ott to take the head coaching role, some believe the roster isn’t up to par.</p><p>After the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/phoenix-suns/grading-devin-booker-145-million-suns-contract-extension">Suns inked Booker to a massive contract extension</a>, it’s clear that he’s staying with his team. While some have concerns about the entirety of the roster, make no mistake that Booker could be in line for a big year.</p><p>Ahead of Wednesday’s game, we will be making our Devin Booker 2025-26 season predictions.</p><h2><b>Devin Booker will average 30 points per game for Suns</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Devin-Booker-scoring.jpg"><figcaption>© Denis Poroy-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Never once has Booker averaged more than 28 points per game in his career. Although he had Chris Paul, Durant, and Beal, those guys could take the scoring load off him from time to time.</p><p>Meanwhile, the former Kentucky standout <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/nba-preseason-devin-bookers-distribution-lakers-rim-protection-hopes-and-houstons-spacing-solution-142445225.html" rel="noopener">turned into an elite playmaker</a> at his position. It’s something he takes pride in, but it’s come at the expense of his scoring.</p><p>However, being the No. 1 scoring option can force him to be even more creative. He might use more of his physicality to get to the basket, initiate contact, and get to the free throw line.</p><p>Not to mention, Booker had a down year from deep last season (33.2% on 7.3 attempts). That number is sure to change, even if his superstar cast is gone.</p><p>Also, Ott’s system emphasizes <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIxEgm8oPJ4" rel="noopener">plenty of off-ball actions like screening and cuts</a> to the basket. Those alone can generate some of the easiest points he’ll have in a game.</p><p>That, mixed with an emphasis on scoring by the coaching staff and organization could have him exceeding the 30+ point mark.</p><h2><b>Devin Booker, Jalen Green will be 2025-26 NBA’s best backcourt</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Jordan-Ott-coaching-with-Mark-Williams-on-the-sidelines.jpg"><figcaption>© Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>This one is certainly more bold than the rest, but there’s a world where it is possible. Jalen Green played his best version of winning basketball in the 2024-25 season.</p><p>He played in all 82 games, and helped the Houston Rockets secure the No. 2 seed in the tightly stacked Western Conference. Still, Green is only 23 years old and is just scratching the surface.</p><p>The defense is improving, and the athleticism is simply unmatched for his position.</p><p>Furthermore, this can benefit Booker immensely for his scoring and the overall success of the team. The latter has never played with an athlete of Green’s caliber.</p><p>Getting downhill and being explosive was what <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/phoenix-suns/suns-news-how-young-hungry-rookies-impressed-devin-booker">Booker emphasized with the Suns two rookies</a> (Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro) last season. He wants to play fast, and might have the ideal complement to his game.</p><p>Two scorers with different philosophies to putting the ball in the hoop has the makings of something special. Opposites attract, but both can unlock areas of their respective games not yet reached.</p><h2><b>Devin Booker will make an All-NBA team</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Devin-Booker-Suns-contract-detail-leaves-Brian-Windhorst-stunned.jpg"><figcaption>© Mark J. His statistics tell one story, but Booker’s leadership and vision for the Suns will be the other.</p><p>When general manager Brian Gregory was hired, he talked about having Booker’s <a href="https://burncitysports.com/2025/05/06/new-phoenix-suns-gm-emphasizes-collaborating-with-players-including-devin-booker/#:~:text=New%20Phoenix%20Suns%20GM%20emphasizes%20collaborating%20with%20players%2C%20including%20Devin%20Booker&amp;text=PHOENIX%20%E2%80%94%20Phoenix%20Suns'%20new%20general%20manager%20Brian%20Gregory" rel="noopener">input on the roster construction</a>, as well as who the next head coach would be.</p><p>That person ended up being Ott, who has raved about Booker’s work ethic and complete skill set ever since he took the job.</p><p>The first-year head coach could be the best that Booker has worked with since Monty Williams from an X’s and O’s point. Injuries, natural regression, among other things. However, that isn’t the case for Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker.</p><p>The annual NBA general manager rankings <a href="https://www.nba.com/news/2025-26-nba-gm-survey" rel="noopener">didn’t even list</a> Booker in the top five shooting guards. A season prior, he was labeled in that Top 5 category. But this could be an instance of giving the GMs the benefit of the doubt.</p><p>With the franchise trading away Kevin Durant and buying out Bradley Beal, it’s clear that the Big 3 experiment failed. However, they’re eyeing a retool. For instance, the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/phoenix-suns/grading-devin-booker-145-million-suns-contract-extension">Suns gave Booker a hefty contract extension</a>, which could see him earning more than $70 million a season.</p><p>But that’s not the only thing Phoenix did. They acquired Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and Khaman Maluach in the trade for Durant. They might’ve gotten younger and more athletic, but it’s clear that Booker is the No. 1 guy.</p><p>And there won’t be any limitations on his abilities as a scorer and playmaker in 2025-26.</p><h2><b>Devin Booker and the Suns have a chip on their shoulder</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Devin-Booker-attempting-a-layup.jpg"><figcaption>© Denis Poroy-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The last time the franchise had this type of standard was the 2019-20 season. This was the infamous NBA bubble run, where they went 8-0 and missed out on the playoffs due to something out of their control.</p><p>The basketball world saw Booker turn into a truly elite shooting guard. His assassin-like mentality led him to average 30.5 points, six assists, and 4.9 rebounds <a href="https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/devin-booker-stats-in-the-nba-bubble" rel="noopener">during those eight games</a>.</p><p>Mind you, this was a younger Booker. He’s improved his game, especially as a playmaker. In fact, he’s talked about the joys of being a facilitator and not just a scorer.</p><p>Still, he could very well be one of the league leaders in scoring. Off-ball actions, operating out of the low-post, and being a cutter are some of his underrated strengths.</p><p>His effectiveness could be as great as it was during that bubble run that put the team back on the map. Six seasons later, this could be another deja vu moment.</p><h2><b>The Suns have players Devin Booker wants to run the floor with</b></h2><p>This headline isn’t to say that Booker didn’t want to play with Beal or Durant. Actually, he had very positive things to say and was always humbled about the opportunity to play alongside them.</p><p>Last season, though, there were <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/phoenix-suns/suns-news-how-young-hungry-rookies-impressed-devin-booker">two players Booker was consistently impressed with</a>: Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro. The two were rookies, but played with an infectious energy that spread to the Suns’ shooting guard.</p><p>Even though the two players made mistakes, they made up for it with effort and enthusiasm. One year later, <a href="https://www.si.com/nba/draft/nba-rookies/suns-rookie-top-10-pick-khaman-maluach-helps-phoenix-to-preseason-win-01k77w4as9q4" rel="noopener">there is another crop</a> of Phoenix rookies looking to make their impact.</p><p>Maluach, Rasheer Fleming, and Koby Brea are all unique and have different skill sets than the other. But the most important thing, or maybe to Booker, would be that same hunger and drive to prove everyone wrong.</p><p>The talent isn’t there like it was for the last two seasons. But that won’t matter to the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. He simply wants players who will give maximum effort, communicate, and have a contagious energy that everyone can feel.</p><p>Booker himself will have a bigger burden to carry, but it might be for the best. It could very well be Dillon Brooks.</p><p>After the latter was traded to Phoenix as a part of the Kevin Durant trade, it felt like a full-circle moment. During training camp, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/phoenix-suns/suns-news-dillon-brooks-first-impression-devin-booker-nba">Brooks emphasized that Booker was the first Suns player he spoke to</a> as soon as he was traded.</p><p>Now, they’ve played the preseason with one another after spending the offseason training. Following Sunday’s preseason game in Macau, China, against the Brooklyn Nets, Brooks candidly <a href="https://x.com/CGBBURNER/status/1977504399896260740" rel="noopener">shared his thoughts on the fit</a> with the franchise guard.</p><p>“It’s been easy,” Brooks said. “My first call when I got traded was to Book, tryna get acquainted. Brooks knows where to be in transition and how to space the floor for Booker.</p><p>That alone is a major advantage.
