But it doesn’t feel like a homecoming. The veteran center played 11 games with the Sixers in the 2013-14 season, spending just 20 days with the tanking squad.</p><p>Dedmon, who <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sixers-add-more-depth-behind-joel-embiid-with-latest-signing-dewayne-dedmon">agreed to a deal</a> with the Sixers on Monday, recalls when the team <a href="https://twitter.com/BySamDiGiovanni/status/1625898793655848965?s=20" rel="noopener">practiced at PCOM</a> — a complex much smaller than their current practice facility — and notes that he much prefers what the team has going for it now with a playoff-caliber roster that hopes to compete for a championship behind the star duo of Joel Embiid and James Harden.</p><p>“We were processing the process,” Dedmon said of the Sixers team he first played on. He sees just how far the team has come in roughly a decade with one of the best players in the league leading a team full of talent. Although he said that he doesn’t know the specifics of his role, he’s ready to join the good thing the Sixers have going for them.</p><p>“Just style of play,” Dewayne Dedmon said of why this team is a good fit for him. “Feel like I can come in and help on the defensive end – talking, communicating, just trying to be in the right spot.” When asked what has stood out about the Sixers as an outsider, the 33-year-old big man pointed to the “talent everywhere. Such a talented team. You got one of the best bigs in the league in Joel, you got an established All-Star in James and an up-and-coming guard in [Tyrese] Maxey. It’s a great team.”</p><p>While Embiid and Harden are obviously the stars of the team, Maxey is also one of their biggest contributors. In Dedmon’s case, finding chemistry with him is extra important since they both come off the bench. Dedmon is impressed with the youngster, offering a complimentary comparison to one of his former Miami Heat teammates.</p><p>“Him coming off the bench, I compare it to Tyler [Herro] last year,” Dedmon said. “He comes in, he’s explosive, he scores, he gets the offense going and takes advantage of the other team’s second units. He’s a great talent. The move opens up two roster spots, providing added flexibility for further trades ahead of the Thursday deadline, via Kevin O’Connor.</p><p>The Heat’s return has yet to be revealed. But it appears as if this was simply a move to set up their roster for more trades during the week.</p><p>Miami has played well following a forgettable start to the year. They are climbing the Eastern Conference standings and would benefit from making a major addition or two ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Adding a <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/kevin-durant-heat-perfect-trade-kevin-durant-deadline" rel="noopener">star like Kevin Durant</a> would be a dream-come-true scenario for the Heat. But they at least need to add players <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-heat-interest-in-celtics-grant-williams-ahead-of-trade-deadline" rel="noopener">capable of helping them</a> reach new heights.</p><p>Dewayne Dedmon was an impactful player during his time in Miami. The big man averaged just under 6 points per game on 50 percent field goal shooting and just under 4 rebounds per contest this season. Although his presence off the bench benefitted the team, Miami needed to make room for potential acquisitions. It will be interesting to see if the Spurs look to move Dedmon or keep him on the roster.</p><p>Dedmon is in his 10th year in the league and could help a contender searching for post depth. But the argument doesn’t appear to be anything that could fracture the two’s relationship beyond repair.</p><p>When asked by TNT courtside reporter Stephanie Ready about what happened between him and Dewayne Dedmon, Erik Spoelstra still found it in him to <a href="https://twitter.com/ClipIt_NBA/status/1612999855747612672" rel="noopener">joke about the situation</a>, saying that these kinds of outbursts on the Heat bench are nothing new. In a memorable row between head coach and star player, Spoelstra had also engaged in a public verbal argument with Jimmy Butler, with Udonis Haslem having to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/heat-news-udonis-haslem-drops-truth-bomb-on-infamous-sideline-altercation-with-jimmy-butler" rel="noopener">vociferously take the side</a> of his coach amid the altercation.</p><p>Nonetheless, the parties involved in that previous argument have said that that disagreement hasn’t broken their relationships and that having these sorts of disputes just means that they truly care about winning. Perhaps that is the case for Dewayne Dedmon here. Nonetheless, it remains unclear what exactly caused Dedmon’s outburst. Dedmon, in particular, was clearly incensed by the conversation. So much so, that he decided to throw a massage gun onto the playing court out of frustration. The referees wasted no time throwing Dedmon out of the game, and he might even get fined for his antics here.</p><p>As it was said in the broadcast, the Heat were extremely undermanned in this game due to injury. Well, they were down to eight active players after Dedmon’s ejection.</p><p>Dewayne Dedmon has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot for pretty much the entire season, and this has been one of the main reasons behind his lack of playing time for the Heat of late.
