The pair danced to Cha Cha to “Dancing Machine” by Jackson 5.</p><p>“I enjoyed your dance. Keep it up. You’re good!” one fan responded to his performance.</p><p>“You know, even tho they didn’t have much time to rehearse and he forgot a couple steps, Dwight def knows the golden rule of performing: when you forget what to do, never stop entertaining!” a fan commented on their dance video. “It sucks that we missed out on what probably would’ve been another awesome dance if they’d had enough time to practice but hey, I still enjoyed what they did! He’s got such a fun attitude out there on the dance floor.”</p><p>“I know it he missed some steps, but I honestly didn’t notice it too much. The enjoyment on his face always distracts me from any technical missteps,” a fan reacted to their performance.</p><p>“I know he ‘technically’ didn’t do well, but d*mn, you could tell he was having fun. Towns, a key piece of the Timberwolves’s ascension to contenders in the West, is now heading East as the Knicks look to become the primary challenger to the dominance of the defending champion Boston Celtics. There are mixed feeling about the trade, but<a href="https://x.com/DwightHoward/status/1839854026072174788" rel="noopener"> former NBA star Dwight Howard believes that</a> this is the move that can take the Knicks to the NBA Finals.</p><p>“The Knicks might [win] next year,” Dwight posted on his X account in the minutes following the announcement of the trade.</p><p>The trade was finalized on Friday night, sending Towns to the Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a first-round pick. Per Ian BegleyThe Knicks have wanted an All-Star caliber acquisition to fortify their chances as a title contender.</p><p>“Knicks, per league sources in touch with team, feel they had a great opportunity to address their biggest need at C in trading for a 4-time All Star &amp; 2-time All NBA player in Karl Anthony Towns,” Begley reported on X, formerly Twitter. “They see Towns, 28, as a great fit with their other high-end talent and someone who complements the rest of the core well, those league sources say.”</p><p>The Knicks have already been active on the trade market, securing Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets. Now, they have a 20 points per game+ scorer who flourished as a second-option on the Timberwolves, especially as Anthony Edwards ascended. Dwight Howard’s theory on their viability as a contender certainly can prove to be true.</p><p>But, everyone didn’t think the trade was good for New York. I’ve reached out to Shaq myself on multiple occasions because I’m like ‘what’s the issue?’ Like, I understand the competitive side, but we don’t even compete against each other, and it’s like two different two different stratospheres. Like, he played, he did his thing, nobody’s ever taken that away, and I did my thing. Like Ben Simmons’ lack of confidence or Rudy Gobert’s “soft” style, O’Neal clashes with Howard’s style of play, perhaps even the way he carries himself. The Superman outfit at the dunk contest may have been the genesis of the beef, along with the comparisons like their shared Orlando Magic to Los Angeles Lakers career path.</p><p>We forget the year Shaq and Howard made the 2007 All-Star team and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9LmHXXWiJs" rel="noopener">had a little impromptu dance-off</a>.  At that time, O’Neal was still close to the top of his game and coming off his fourth NBA title with the Miami Heat. There didn’t appear to be any problems at that time.</p><p>But the twilight of Shaq’s career came fast, right around when Howard’s career took off. By 2008, the Heat traded Shaq to the Suns and he was playing less than 30 minutes per game. By the time of the 2010 dunk contest and Howard’s Superman costume, O’Neal probably grew tired of the questions from the media about a torch passing, just as his own game was slowing down.</p><p>How did that beef persist for more than a decade? The former Orlando <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/shaquille-oneal-drops-truth-on-dwight-howard-criticisms">Magic star drew the ire of Shaquille O’Neal</a> who constantly threw jabs at Howard seemingly any chance he got. So it stands to reason that fans would throw shade at him as well. Well one particular social media troll who criticized Dwight Howard’s post game got more than he bargained for with a response from the former NBA star.</p><p>The random social media troll account was responding to a claim Dwight Howard made about possibly being a better player than Patrick Ewing. The account told Howard that, “You had no post moves lol.”</p><p>Howard then <a href="https://x.com/DwightHoward/status/1837643167161897456" rel="noopener">responded to the anonymous account</a> by saying, “I wonder why rappers always would say, ‘Dwight Howard in the post,’ but ok if you believe that do your research &amp; stop listening to media.” Howard then posted a few links of his old highlights were he most certainly had a post game.</p><p>The whole incident began with former NBA player Nick Young making the claim that Kevin Garnett was better than Tim Duncan and that Kobe Bryant was better than Michael Jordan. Young claimed that people are just too afraid to admit it. That’s where Howard chimed in with himself being better than Patrick Ewing.</p><h2><b>Dwight Howard was an NBA star<br></b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Dwight-Howard-goes-up-for-a-shot.jpg"><figcaption>Kelley L Cox-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>While today’s fans often have short memories, or maybe were just too young to remember, Dwight Howard was a star at one point in the NBA and had a legit post game. He was a highly-touted prospect coming out of high school and he made the jump directly to the NBA, bypassing college.</p><p>Howard made an immediate impact for the Orlando Magic as a rookie starting in all 82 games and averaging 12.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots. By his third year in the league, he was an All-Star which kicked off a string of eight consecutive All-Star appearances.</p><p>During his 18-year NBA career, Howard played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers in addition to the Magic. During that span he won three straight Defensive Player of the Year awards. He was one of the most glaring omissions from the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.</p><p>Howard last played in the NBA with the Lakers during the 2021-22 season. He played in 60 games that season. When a team is lacking center depth, many fans immediately suggest the five-time All-NBA First-Team selection as an option. While he has yet to formally retire, the big man is branching out.</p><p>Howard is hoping to show off his rhythm and skills while <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/dwight-howard-jenn-tran-tapped-for-loaded-season-33-of-dancing-with-the-stars">competing in “Dancing with the Stars”</a> season 33. Because of his 6-foot-10 frame, expectations were fairly low for the 38-year-old. The eight-time NBA All-Star emitted high energy and confidence while displaying solid mobility and instincts. Others are bound to give Howard his flowers.</p><h2><b>Why Dwight Howard is competing on DWTS</b></h2><p>Many athletes have stepped onto the ballroom floor since the popular ABC show first aired in 2005, with 11 winning the competition. But the No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft does not fit the mold of a typical contender. He is more than a foot and a half taller than his dance partner and should presumably have a tough time executing the moves.
