While some of these comparisons can get a little crazy, it seems like their own coach in Mosley provided one of the more <a href="https://hoopshype.com/lists/magic-jamahl-mosley-paolo-banchero-luka-doncic-kyrie-irving-carmelo-anthony-allen-iverson-dirk-nowitzki/" rel="noopener">wild comparisons</a> the two young stars have likely ever seen about themselves, with LeBron James and Kevin Durant being mentioned among a large list of stars.</p><p>“Because the game has changed so much over the years with players getting more talented and higher IQs, you have to give combinations. Paolo is a combination of Carmelo (Anthony), LeBron (James) and (Jayson) Tatum. There are different combinations of things they possess. The passing skills. The ability to score in different areas. The power that they possess. Franz is between a mixture of Khris Middleton, Kawhi (Leonard) and Kevin Durant in the footwork. There are so many aspects these guys take from each one of those guys. You don’t want to label them as just this or that person. Mosley doesn’t opt to just single out one great player, but a list of great players for each of his own budding stars. On <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/serbia-germany-prediction-odds-pick-watch-fiba-world-cup-final" rel="noopener">Sunday evening in Manila</a>, Franz Wagner – along with his brother Mo – <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/fiba-world-cup-news-dirk-nowitzki-immediate-reaction-germany-beating-serbia-win-gold" rel="noopener">did just that</a>.</p><p>“It’s special,” Wagner <a href="https://www.eurohoops.net/en/fibawc/1552106/franz-wagner-feels-surreal-becoming-a-world-champion-with-his-brother/" rel="noopener">said when asked</a> about how it felt to win the FIBA World Cup together after Germany’s 83-77 win over Serbia. “Special to have our parents here too. This is so surreal, it doesn’t make sense that we are both on this team and we can enjoy it.”</p><p>Franz Wagner played a significant role in the victory, compiling 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals, while brother Mo had 8 points and 4 rebounds. The result marked a happy ending to what had been an up and down tournament for Franz. He enjoyed a strong start in Germany’s opening game but injured an ankle and missed the next four games as a result. Upon returning against Latvia in the quarter-finals, however, he’s been in the top couple of players for his team alongside Dennis Schroder, averaging 19 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists.</p><p>Following their victory in the Philippines, the Wagner brothers will shortly head back to Orlando, where of course they’ve both played for the Magic for the last couple of seasons. They are a long way off winning anything much there there, having finished in the bottom three in the Eastern Conference in each of those two seasons, but with Franz in particular in the fray alongside the likes of Paolo Banchero, a new and improved Markelle Fultz, and Jonathan Isaac if he can ever get healthy, the potential for Orlando to climb their way up the standings is well and truly there. However, the game wasn’t all great for them: Orlando Magic star Franz Wagner <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/germany-franz-wagner-ankle-injury-japan" rel="noopener">suffered an injury</a> during their game. Wagner’s injured ankle forced him to miss the rest of the game. With a matchup against Australia looming, Germany’s team doctor <a href="https://www.espn.com.au/olympics/story/_/id/38262703/australia-vs-germany-fiba-world-cup-preview-boomers-find-answer-germany-bigs-question" rel="noopener">gave an update</a> on Wagner’s injury, per ESPN.</p><p>“We were able to rule out serious injuries (for Magic forward Franz Wagner),” Germany’s team doctor, Oliver Putz, said on Saturday. “Nothing is broken, torn, or anything like this; things that would end the FIBA World Cup for him. Franz feels better this morning than yesterday. We did another MRI this morning. But, the problem is that we don’t have the imaging yet, so we can’t say exactly what’s hurt yet.”</p><p>The younger Wagner has been <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/magic-news-franz-wagner-gets-bad-news-amid-wild-eurobasket-run-with-germany" rel="noopener">a revelation for the Magic</a> over the last two years. The Magic forward averaged 16.9 points in his first two seasons in the NBA (including an 18.6 PPG season last year). Orlando Magic forward and Germany star Franz Wagner suffered an ankle injury in the 81-63 win. An MRI will give the team a better understanding of how <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/magic-news-franz-wagner-exits-after-suffering-ankle-injury-vs-knicks" rel="noopener">Franz Wagner’s injury</a> will affect his availability in the coming FIBA World Cup games, according to Germany coach Gordie Herbert.</p><p>It’s possible that the injury is minor and won’t cost Wagner any playing time. Herbert <a href="https://twitter.com/therealBeede/status/1695082469165310412">described</a> the injury as a “slight sprained ankle,” via the Orlando Sentinel’s Jason Beede. Franz will get two days to rest before Germany plays Australia Sunday morning.</p><p>Before leaving the win against Japan with a few minutes left in regulation, Wagner had 10 points, six rebounds and five assists. Wagner’s brother and teammate with the Magic, Mo Wagner, scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds.</p><p>Franz Wagner dealt with multiple ankle injuries last season but only missed two games. In his second season with the Magic, Wagner averaged 18.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.</p><p>Germany’s path to the knockout round in the World Cup includes playing in what might be the most difficult group. Japan is considered to be the worst team in Group E. Australia and Finland are expected to challenge Germany in their next two games. Germany is scheduled to end group play with a matchup against Finland Tuesday morning.</p><p>Germany <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/team-usa-news-steve-kerr-anthony-edwards-truth-bomb-clutch-dominance-germany" rel="noopener">nearly beat Team USA</a> in their last exhibition contest. He has won a basketball, a baseball, and a football championship in fantasy all within a year.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner suffered a lower-body injury in the second half of Thursday night’s home game against the visiting New York Knicks.</p><p>The injury forced Franz Wagner to leave the game, with the team later <a href="https://twitter.com/Magic_PR/status/1639072854955409408" rel="noopener">announcing</a> that he was done for the rest of the contest.</p><p><i>“INJURY UPDATE: @OrlandoMagic forward Franz Wagner will not return tonight vs. New York due to a left ankle sprain.”</i></p><p>Franz Wagner was having a good game before suffering the injury. He left with 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field with six assists, three rebounds, two steals, and a block in 32 minutes of action. Despite Wagner leaving the game, the Magic still found a way to stave off the Knicks and score a 111-106 victory.</p><p>Paolo Banchero led the way for the Magic with 21 points, while Cole Anthony came off the bench and fired a total of 18 points.</p><p>With that win, the Magic added some hope to their chances to make at least the Play-in Tournament. They are currently 13th in the Eastern Conference standings with a 31-43 record m still four games out of the top 10 in the East.</p><p>Orlando has won three of its last four games and both its last two. It will look to keep its momentum this coming Sunday at home versus the Brooklyn Nets, hopefully with Franz Wagner healthy enough to give it a go.</p><p>In case Wagner is forced to sit out that game, the Magic will have more on the plates of Banchero, Anthony, and Markelle Fultz.</p><p> </p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
