Fred VanVleet’s Net Worth in 2021 (estimate): $20 Million

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Fred VanVleet’s net worth in 2021 is around $20 million.

The 6-foot guard from Rockford, Illinois was a four-star recruit out of high school. VanVleet committed to Wichita State University where he played four years of college hoops for the Shockers.

VanVleet garnered a lot of recognition during his four-year college stint. He was a two-time MVC player of the year, he was a three-time First Team All-MVC selection and a 3x AP Honorable Mention All-American.

After using up all four years of his college eligibility, VanVleet went on to apply for the NBA Draft. Unfortunately, he went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft.

VanVleet received offers to play for the NBA D-League at $20,000 for two years, but he declined and instead signed with the Toronto Raptors Summer League team.

His spectacular play in the Summer League and an impressive training camp performance led the Raptors to sign Fred VanVleet to a two-year, $1.4 million contract.

He played sparingly during his rookie season as VanVleet spent the year with the Raptors and their D League affiliate, Raptors 905.

In the same season, he was a key piece in helping the Raptors 905 win the NBA D-League championship.

His second season saw a jump from VanVleet’s performance. He averaged 8.6 points and 3.2 assists in 76 games played. Fred VanVleet was a finalist for the 2018 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.

Before the start of the 2018-2019 NBA season, VanVleet re-signed with the Raptors on a two-year, $18 million deal.

This proved to be a crucial part of the Raptors’ season as he was a key cog off the Toronto bench as they finished with the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference that season.

The Raptors eventually advanced to the 2019 NBA Finals facing the defending champs in the Golden State Warriors. VanVleet played a crucial role in defending Stephen Curry.

In Game 6 of the Finals, VanVleet scored a playoff career-high 22 points with five three-pointers off the bench to secure the Toronto Raptors’ first NBA Championship in franchise history. VanVleet came in second place in voting in the NBA Finals MVP award.

VanVleet continues to be a big part of the Toronto Raptors team.

He signed a four-year $85 million contract to stay with the Raptors before the start of the 2020-2021 NBA season.

Fred VanVleet quoted one of his tweets from 2016 after signing his lucrative NBA contract:

Fred VanVleet’s deal was the highest contract signed by an undrafted NBA player at the time. It was later surpassed by Duncan Robinson.

Spotrac estimates Fred VanVleet’s career earnings to balloon up to $104,271,947 once his current contract expires.

Along with his NBA contracts, Fred VanVleet also previously had a shoe deal with And1.

However, in the same year that Fred signed his major contract with the Raptors, he also signed a multi-year, lucrative contract with Chinese shoe brand Li Ning.

"Taking this FVV thing on the global scale, that was the best situation for me," VanVleet said in a 2020 WREX article. "They're still empowering me and allowing me to do what I do on my own. Just being attached to a brand like that is special for me and hopefully can take it up a notch."

When asked if a signature shoe is in the works:

"We're working toward it, probably more so like a PE [player edition] situation where they have their models and I kind of build out colorways and work my logos on it," VanVleet explained. "[I will] keep building up my following and fanbase over in China and overseas before we get to the player edition as far as having my own signature shoe. It's in the works. We have a lot of things ahead. I'm just excited about the move."

He joins CJ McCollum, D’Angelo Russell, and future Hall-of-Famer Dwyane Wade as the major athletes of Li Ning.

The 27-year-old is now the vet of a rebuilding Toronto Raptors squad.

The Raptors may be far from another NBA title run, but VanVleet will surely help in building the culture around his teammates as they go along.
