Despite being a bench piece, Hill was still a solid contributor to the Bucks’ success this season. He averaged 6.2 points, 2.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds in the regular season.</p><p>Hill has yet to make his 2022 NBA Playoffs debut. He’s been dealing with a strained right abdominal and hasn’t played since the Bucks’ second to last regular-season game on April 8.</p><p>If available, Hill will likely reenter his position as the main substitution for starting point guard Jrue Holiday. At 36-years-old, the veteran has a lot of experience in the league and is a very reliable player off the bench.</p><p>Needless to say, at this point in the playoffs, every team is dealing with injuries to some degree. The Bucks are also beat up, dealing with a newfound injury within their starting five. Things got physical between the two and they ended up going face-to-face, looking like they were ready to escalate it to a fight.</p><p>That’s when Beverley and Hill jumped in. Still, that didn’t stop the NBA officials from handing out punishments.</p><p>As mentioned, both Patrick Beverley and George Hill were ejected for their violent actions. They were each given technical fouls. Dwight Howard and Trevor Ariza returned to the Lakers.</p><p>Of greater significance is that the Bucks, who had hoped Hill would be able to get them over the hump and into the NBA Finals in 2019 and 2020, are obviously interested in giving Hill a second chance, albeit with a diminished role compared to his previous stop in Wisconsin. Milwaukee turned the corner and won the NBA title because of its acquisition of Jrue Holiday, who represented an upgrade in the backcourt and provided a level of defense which proved decisive in the team’s NBA Finals victory over the Phoenix Suns.</p><p>George Hill has knocked on the door of the NBA Finals for many years, just missing a championship ring at several points in his professional journey, not just with the Bucks.</p><p>He was with the Indiana Pacers in the early part of the 2010s. Bucks fans know that he and Paul George took the Miami Heat to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals in 2013, and to Game 6 in 2014.</p><p>Hill was with the 2018 Cleveland Cavaliers, who reached the NBA Finals but lost to the Golden State Warriors.</p><p>Hill then joined the Bucks for the 2018-2019 season. Milwaukee — which overcame a 2-0 series deficit on two separate occasions to win the 2021 NBA title — blew a 2-0 lead in the East finals against the Toronto Raptors.</p><p>The Bucks made one more run at the brass ring with George Hill in their backcourt in 2020. They gained the No. 1 seed in the East but were deprived of home-court advantage by the bubble setup in the pandemic. They lost to the Miami Heat in the East semifinals.</p><p>Hill then went to the Oklahoma City Thunder before being dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers. Philly was in prime position to win the East this past season but stumbled in a Game 7 meltdown at home versus the Atlanta Hawks. However, after the Sixers acquired George Hill via trade, the 13-year veteran is apparently still not close to returning from the thumb surgery that has sidelined him since late January.</p><p>Sixers head coach Doc Rivers provided an update on Hill’s injured thumb ahead of the win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, <a href="https://twitter.com/DerekBodnerNBA/status/1379557664783540224">per The Athletic’s Derek Bodner</a>. Rivers is familiar with the type of injury Hill is dealing with and doesn’t envision a return to the court in the near future:</p><figure class="op-interactive"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">Rivers on Hill's thumb surgery: "I had that same injury. He may come back in time, but based on Rivers’ response, the timeline is going to be tight.</p><p>Hill averaged 11.8 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in just 14 games with the Oklahoma City Thunder this season before his injury and the trade. While he hasn’t played much this season, the 34-year-old is still a good player when healthy and a solid veteran to have come playoff time, especially thanks to his shooting. He’s at 38.6% on 3-pointers this season and 38.4% for his career, making him an ideal candidate to play alongside stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.</p><p>The Sixers are still in a good spot without Hill, sitting atop the Eastern Conference <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/philadelphia-76ers/records" rel="noopener">with a 35-16 record.</a> However, once the playoffs roll around, Philly will need all the help it can get in order to win a championship, especially with the mighty Brooklyn Nets standing in their way of an NBA Finals trip. The terms are as follows:</p><p>Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: Tony Bradley, Austin Rivers, a 2025 Second Round Pick (via Sixers), and a 2026 Second Round Pick (via Sixers)</p><p>Philadelphia 76ers Receive: George Hill and Ignas Brazdeikis</p><p>New York Knicks Receive: Terrance Ferguson</p><h2>The Thunder’s Point of View</h2><p>The rich get richer as the Thunder get even more draft assets to add to their tool chest. Sam Presti has a more tradeable picks than anyone GM has ever had in the history of NBA basketball. From 2021 to 2027, the Oklahoma Thunder have 34 total picks, 17 in the first round and 17 in the second.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">Oklahoma City now has a projected 34 draft picks over the next 7 years.</p><p>17- First<br>17- Second</p><p>— Bobby Marks (@BobbyMarks42) <a href="https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1375134639149477893?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" target="_blank">March 25, 2021</a></p></blockquote><p></p></figure><p>Austin Rivers and Tony Bradley are hardly assets in the deal and work more as salary ballast, but they are both solid offensive players and Bradley is young. Tony Bradley has proven to be a capable offensive center in his time with the Sixers while Joel Embiid was out with injury. Rivers will be a free agent in the offseason and he should fill in well without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander expected to miss significant time with Plantar Fasciitis in his foot.</p><h2>The Sixers Point of View</h2><p>George Hill can do a lot of things as a backup or starting point guard and he’s spent time on great teams before. Hill is a really good spot-up shooter, a smart and physical defender, and can run a solid pick &amp; roll. Getting Ignas Brazdeikis is a smart, buy-low pick-up too. He can shoot and score and is still really young.</p><p>The Sixers were able to get these guys without having to give up any significant value. Tony Bradley has been very good filling in for Joel Embiid, but hoping for Embiid to come back soon, his loss shouldn’t be too mourned. The two second-round picks have some upside if the 76ers fall completely off, but second-round picks are only second-round picks in the end. Terrance Ferguson has hardly played<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/philadelphia-76ers/roster"> for Philly</a> this season but he still has some upside as an athletic, 3-and-D wing.</p><h2>The Knicks Point of View</h2><p>This trade exists almost solely for the Knicks to get off of Austin Rivers’ contract. Rivers’ doesn’t make an abhorrent amount or anything but he has fallen out of the Knicks guard rotation and New York didn’t want to pay him for the remainder of the year. Getting rid of Ignas Brazdeikis doesn’t make a ton of sense in this move. He could be an excellent scoring wing and giving up on him before he really gets a chance at the NBA level is short-sighted.</p><p>Terrance Ferguson is a solid bet for the Knicks to make. Tom Thibodeau is the perfect coach to unlock Ferguson defensively. Ferguson has smooth hips and long arms and should play perfectly as a wing defender in Thibodeau’s ice-system.</p><h2>The Grades:</h2><p><b>Oklahoma City Thunder: B</b></p><p>The Thunder continue pooling assets together and getting young players to fill out the roster. There was a chance George Hill was worthy of a first round pick, but this isn’t a bad haul for him. Tony Bradley could be a good back-up center and Austin Rivers helps fill a gap for the Thunder in the short term. The two second-round picks are simply more assets that the Thunder have to work with in the long term.</p><p><b>Philadelphia 76ers: A-</b></p><p>The Sixers are a great team trying to get themselves to be a championship and George Hill helps with that. He spaces the floor for Joel Embiid, will help the offense flow, and doesn’t give back too much defensively. Ignas Brazdeikis is a solid young bet to make too and he could be a potential piece for the future.</p><p><b>New York Knicks: C-</b></p><p>There is not much here for the Knicks. It’s mostly a small move for the Knicks to clear some extra cap-room and take a bet on a different young player. Giving up Ignas Brazdeikis is a part of this deal that doesn’t make a ton of sense but taking a bet on Terrance Ferguson mostly makes up for that.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He did deal with a thumb injury back in February that sidelined him for awhile.</p><p>His addition is a welcoming sign to the 76ers, who could use another ball dominant guard alongside Ben Simmons. He brings a veteran presence with plenty of postseason experience, most notably in Indiana.</p><p>The Thunder continue to do what the Thunder do, load up on future draft assets at the NBA trade deadline. They netted two second rounders in this trade, along with Tony Bradley and Austin Rivers. Rivers had fallen out of favor and was gone from the rotation in New York. He has been out since the all-star break on paternity leave.</p><p>And how about those Knicks! They were involved in a trade! But more so as a middle man, acquiring Terrance Ferguson. As a result of this, more and more names start popping up as teams do their due diligence to check in with other teams. One name that didn’t have a lot of steam but all of a sudden does: Oklahoma City Thunder point guard George Hill.</p><p><a href="https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2937698-what-inside-sources-are-saying-about-nbas-top-buyout-candidates">According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer</a>, the Sixers, Lakers, and Clippers have also shown interest in Hill and OKC simply wants draft compensation in return.</p><blockquote>“Hill’s name has emerged more and more in conversations among team executives. Both Los Angeles teams and Philadelphia have expressed interest, according to league sources. The Thunder’s asking price appears clear. They’re willing to [both] take back and trade salary for draft compensation,” one Western Conference official said.</blockquote><p>Philadelphia has a first-round pick at their disposal, but would they part with it for George Hill? Odds are the pick will be in the back end of the first round, as the 76ers currently sit atop the Eastern Conference. So, they have to juggle with trying to figure out how much they value the pick compared to adding someone like Hill.</p><p>The Lakers and the Clippers, on the other hand, may be hoping for a buyout situation to come to fruition with Hill. However, the Clippers aren’t the only ones interested as several unnamed teams also hinted at potentially going after Hill in the near future.</p><p>Despite the buzz, the Thunder aren’t necessarily pushing for any trades unless their demands will be met. They will also happily keep Hill’s services if no deal will come to fruition in the coming weeks.</p><p><a href="https://theathletic.com/2450600/?source=twitterhq">Via Shams Charania of The Athletic:</a></p><blockquote>“The Clippers are among teams interested in Hill, sources said. Hill has been a positive veteran player for Oklahoma City, and coupled with the fact that he has another season left on his contract in 2021-22 ($10 million, partially guaranteed), the Thunder are happy retaining Hill into the second half of the season unless a team meets their asking price for the veteran point guard.”</blockquote><p>Hill has been on an up-and-down campaign in the 2020-21 season due to his nagging right thumb injury. He has been out since Jan. 24 and is set to be on the sidelines for a couple more weeks. Despite his absence on the floor, Hill is still trying to be around the team as much as possible and mentoring the young guys on their roster.</p><p>Through 14 games, the 34-year-old playmaker is averaging 11.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists this season. Though he isn’t as productive as he was from a year ago, Hill could still serve as a valuable asset for the Clippers or any other team in the league.</p><p>The Clippers aren’t in dire need of making significant moves leading up to the trade deadline as <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/los-angeles-clippers/records">they are still going strong</a> with a 25-15 record for the fourth spot in the West. He will be reevaluated after four weeks.</p><p>Hill, who was traded by the Milwaukee Bucks to the Thunder in the offseason as part of the four-team Jrue Holiday deal, has played in 14 games this season for Oklahoma City, starting all of them. The 34-year-old holds averages of 11.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists in 26.3 minutes per game while shooting 50.8% from the field and 38.6% from beyond the arc.</p><p>Hill, the 26th overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft, hasn’t played in Oklahoma City’s last four games. He last suited up in the Thunder’s 108-100 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Jan. 24. Against the Clippers, Hill finished with 22 points, making 9-of-12 shots from the field while adding two assists and two steals.</p><p>With the veteran missing a month of action, the Thunder will likely turn more to rookie Theo Maldeon, who has started in George Hill’s place alongside star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the team’s most recent games. The COVID-19 situation has been rather tricky and the league office has been under fire as of late for some of the more frivolous protocols. Due to the recent outbreak of players testing positive for COVID-19 in the past week, the league ramped up their health and safety protocols to try and further mitigate the spread of the virus. A handful of games have also been postponed but as of Tuesday, the league is adamant that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-news-the-real-reason-the-league-is-not-pausing-2020-21-season-despite-covid-19-surge/">pausing the season </a>isn’t an option just yet.</p><p>Hill, who’s never been shy to speak his mind, was trying to make sense of all the rules and protocols the league has rolled out.</p><blockquote>“We wanna play the game. Tatum was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/celtics-news-jayson-tatum-enters-covid-19-quarantine-for-up-to-2-weeks/">reportedly</a> exposed to the virus which meant he had to enter quarantine and miss 10-14 days. This resulted to Beal’s own quarantine in accordance to the league’s contact tracing protocols. If it’s too dangerous, why risk it at all?</p><p>The league masterfully executed an NBA Bubble in Orlando to end last season. The bubble environment was very successful in the sense that no one inside the bubble contracted the virus. Aside from little hiccups along the way, the ride inside the bubble was rather smooth sailing.</p><p>This season, with the league opting for a more traditional home-and-away set-up for the 72-game season, the likelihood of the virus spreading is quite high which means, as we’re all seeing now, it’s going to be a rocky road moving forward for the league and its teams.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

After the horrific shooting of Jacob Blake in the Bucks’ home state of Wisconsin last August, Hill decided to skip their upcoming game against the Orlando Magic. The entire team followed his lead and eventually made history by conducting a team-wide boycott, resulting in the cancellation of all three games scheduled that evening.</p><blockquote>“I’m definitely proud of what I did,” George Hill told <a href="https://theundefeated.com/features/george-hill-were-way-more-powerful-than-they-think-we-are/">The Undefeated</a> on Wednesday. “I really wasn’t trying to spark anything. I was just doing what I thought was genuinely right. I didn’t know what others may do or what others may think or the consequences that may come from it or the positives that may come from it. I didn’t think about that. I only thought about what I thought was right. What I believe in was what humanity should be and I went for it.”</blockquote><p>The sudden halt in the games resulted in a few more peaceful protests by teams, players, and other sports personalities which eventually had the players zero in on voting. Given how the Presidential election turned out, people listened and they responded.</p><p>On Tuesday, we were greeted with the horrible news that the officer who shot Blake was cleared for any criminal charges. On Wednesday, a group of pro-Trump supporters barged into the US Capitol to unlawfully show their disdain for the results of the recent presidential elections.</p><blockquote>“It ain’t crazy. It’s the norm,” Hill said, referring to both. “What did you expect? Did you expect anything different? I’m not at all surprised about all of this. To begin the offseason, the Thunder sent Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for first-round picks, Ricky Rubio, and Kelly Oubre.</p><p>Then, not long after getting Rubio and Oubre, Oklahoma City would deal them to other teams. Rubio would be sent back to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he began his career, while trading Oubre to the Golden State Warriors. Oubre gives the Warriors a wing player that can replace Klay Thompson amid his season-ending injury.</p><p>As for Adams, he gives the Pelicans a center to pair with Zion Williamson in the frontcourt. His ability to defend the rim and rebound should help Zion develop on both ends of the floor next season.</p><p>In recent seasons, the Thunder have been stockpiling picks and that continues to be a trend this offseason. Hill has career averages of 11.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists with the San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Sacramento Kings, Cavs and Bucks.</p><p>The Clippers desperately need a starting-caliber point guard next to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. While the Clips are in the mix to sign Rajon Rondo, they could trade for Hill if Rondo re-signs with the Lakers or <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/hawks-rumors-atlanta-to-pursue-danilo-gallinari-rajon-rondo-in-free-agency/" rel="noopener noreferrer">signs with</a> the Atlanta Hawks.</p><p>It doesn’t really make sense for the Pelicans to keep Hill since they have Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe on the roster, the latter of whom was acquired by New Orleans in the Holiday deal as well.</p><p>It’s going to be interesting to see where Hill gets traded to.
