Hassan Whiteside’s Net Worth in 2021 (estimate): $16 Million

Celebrity Net Worth estimates Whiteside’s net worth to be at $16 million.

The 7-foot big man out of North Carolina played college ball for Marshall University.

He played great in his lone year of NCAA basketball as he finished the season as the NCAA blocks leader with 182 rejections.

The 182 blocks were also a national record for a freshman single season, topping Shawn Bradley’s 177 blocks with BYU back in the 1990-91 season.

Hassan Whiteside declared for the 2010 NBA Draft where he was picked with the 33rd overall pick by the Sacramento Kings.

His rookie deal with the Kings was for two years and $1.4 million.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have the best professional start. Whiteside only played a total of 19 games in his first two years in the league.

He bounced around between the Kings and their D-League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns.

On July 16, 2012, he was waived by the Kings. This is where his journey with different D-League teams and clubs around the world started.

On December 24, 2012, Whiteside was picked up by the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA D-League. He was then traded a few days after to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

However, he left the Vipers before the playoffs to join Lebanese team Amchit Club.

After three games, he left that team to join the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese NBL.

Whiteside played great for the Blue Whales, leading the team all the way as they became the 2013 NBL-China Champions. He was also awarded the NBL-China Finals MVP and claimed the NBL-China Defensive Player of the Year award.

Whiteside eventually went back to the US playing in the NBA Summer League and in preseason games.

Prior to the 2014-2015 NBA season, the Miami Heat signed Whiteside to a two-year, $1.7 million deal.

This is when Whiteside got his footing in the NBA as he was making a mark for himself as one of the best shot blockers and overall paint beasts in the league.

He led the NBA in blocks in the 2015-2016 season. Whiteside was also named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team that same year.

The Miami Heat eventually awarded Whiteside for his efforts as they signed him to a four-year $98 million contract, making Whiteside the first player in NBA history to go from a league minimum salary to a max-level contract.

“I’ve played on eight teams since college — from Reno to Sioux Falls to Sichuan, China.” Whiteside said in his Players’ Tribune article. “I am not ready for there to be a ninth.”

“I have decided to re-sign with Miami.” Whiteside continued. “Can’t wait to get back to work and try to bring another championship to Miami. #HeatNation.”

Whiteside played for five years with the Miami Heat where he averaged 14.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks during his stint in South Beach.

In 2019, Hassan Whiteside was listed #89 in Forbes’ The World’s Highest-Paid athletes list.

Before the 2019-2020 NBA season, Whiteside was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers as part of a four-team trade involving the Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers.

He played incredibly well for the Blazers as he put up 15.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks en route to a playoff appearance. Unfortunately, they bowed out to the eventual champs, the Los Angeles Lakers, in the first round.

Whiteside then returned to the Sacramento Kings for the 2020-2021 NBA season for a league minimum of $2.3 million. He only played in 36 games for the Kings.

Going into his 10th season in the NBA, Whiteside signed a one-year, $2.4 million with the Utah Jazz.

According to Spotrac, Whiteside has accumulated an estimated amount of $104,713,201 in his career earnings in the NBA.

Despite the rough start to his professional journey, Hassan Whiteside has reaped the rewards of his hard work and determination.

He made a good amount of money during his career, which is impressive considering that he started with a league-minimum salary and he bounced around a lot.

Were you surprised with Hassan Whiteside’s net worth in 2021? Will he be able to cash in on another relatively big deal before his career is over?
