Shumpert’s attorney, Stephen C. Steele, told TMZ Sports in a statement that the former NBA star has done no such thing.</p><p>The Grammy-nominated singer claims that Shumpert was spreading false information to the media and said that their divorce ended differently than it did, according to court documents obtained by the publication. In response to the alleged retaliation by Shumpert, the A Thousand And One actress requested that the former Brooklyn Nets star go to jail for 20 days.</p><p>“My client, Mr. Iman Shumpert, has never whatsoever leaked any allegations or claims stated in any of the pleadings in” the Taylor/Shumpert divorce case,” Steele said. “Mr. Shumpert adamantly denies that he has provided any information to any media.”</p><p>“Specifically, but without limitations, he denies that he leaked any information which may have served as the basis for the multiple news reports preceding the trial of this matter,” Steele added.</p><p>Taylor and Shumpert met in 2013 and began dating. They got engaged in 2015 and married the year after. The actress filed for divorce in 2023. The former couple have two daughters together, Iman Tayla “Junie” Shumpert Jr. born in 2015, and Rue Rose Shumpert, born in 2020. While seeing Shumpert on the court again is not definite, his will to play again is still strong. The Knicks have come a long way since the end of the Carmelo Anthony tenure in the mid to late 2010s, in which the team was the laughing stock of the NBA.</p><p>The end of the Knicks’ competitive days with Anthony at the helm really began when the team traded away both JR Smith and Iman Shumpert to the Cleveland Cavaliers midway through the 2014-15 season. Recently, Shumpert stopped by Anthony’s 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast, and Anthony shared <a href="https://x.com/ClutchPoints/status/1861508433679122894" rel="noopener">his candid reaction</a> to the Knicks’ front office’s decision when it happened.</p><p>“I told Bron, ‘oh, that’s what we’re doing?'” joked the former Knicks star. “When it happened, the only thing going through my mind is Bron. I know this is a chess game… I can use Shump and JR to go win a championship. That’s why I flipped out in the locker room.”</p><p>Shumpert then described his account of Anthony’s reaction.</p><p>“In that room, all you hear is just boom, boom, water splashing,” said Shumpert.</p><p>“You do not touch this nucleus right here,” said Anthony. “I don’t give a f*** what you do. I said ‘yo, y’all can’t say s*** to me. Do you know what the f*** y’all just did? You’re going to send them to him?… Y’all don’t give a f*** about me. This s*** is nasty. A lifelong sports lover, Jackson joined ClutchPoints and Cavs Nation in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Cavs News</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The <a href="https://cavsnation.com/news/cavs-news-cleveland-undefeated-start-eye-popping-stats">Cleveland Cavaliers have gotten off to a red hot start</a> that has <a href="https://cavsnation.com/news/cavs-donovan-mitchell-mvp-endorsement-richard-jefferson">Donovan Mitchell as one of the early frontrunners for the league MVP</a> award, particularly after his game winner on Saturday evening on the road against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Cavs are currently one of just two undefeated teams remaining (Oklahoma City Thunder) after starting the season 7-0, and the team is looking to usher in its first real era of prosperity since the second LeBron James stint ended in 2018.</p><p>Speaking of that LeBron James era, two of the key pieces on those mid-2010’s Cavs teams were guards JR Smith and Iman Shumpert, each of whom was brought in from the New York Knicks via trade during the 2014-15 season. Now, Smith <a href="https://x.com/NightcapShow_/status/1852831439584149663" rel="noopener">is recalling why</a> Shumpert was initially hesitant to embrace the trade, via the Nightcap Show with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco Johnson.</p><p>“We had a private flight to go to Cleveland the next day. I’m sitting there with Shump, and Shump was like ‘damn, they don’t believe in us?’… I said, Shump, listen, I don’t know what you’re talking about bro, but pipe that s*** down. We’re about to go win the ship… just relax, just let it happen.'”</p><p>The Cavs were struggling (at least relative to their sky high expectations with the big three of James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love) around the time they traded for Shumpert and Smith, but that acquisition allowed the team to turn around their season and ride that momentum all the way the NBA Finals, where they bowed out to the Golden State Warriors in six games in a series that both Love and Irving missed the majority of.</p><p>The following year, the Cavs would secure the number one seed in the Eastern Conference and once again bulldoze to the Finals, where they knocked off the Warriors after overcoming a 3-1 deficit. Both Shumpert and Smith played a critical role in that playoff run, as well as the Cavs’ next march to the Finals the following season.</p><p>The Cavs now are looking to create the franchise’s first real run of prosperity without LeBron James on the roster, and Donovan Mitchell reiterated his commitment to doing so by resigning with the team this past offseason on a massive contract extension.</p><p>Still, it’s always nice to reminisce about the glory days of yesteryear in which both Smith and Shumpert were torching opposing defenses.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Although the former Knicks first-round draft pick <a href="https://x.com/FirstTake/status/1841507836372660591" rel="noopener">expressed concern over</a> how the Towns/Jalen Brunson pairing will work in crunch time during a recent appearance on First Take, he believes the Knicks are better off following their acquisition of the four-time All-Star.</p><p>“I think him and [Julius] Randle together would have been nasty, but I totally get that’s the only way you can do the trade,” Shumpert said while speaking on behalf of his new ESPN+ series, Taking One For The Team, which debuts on Oct. 16. “I think KAT fits really well with that team. I think he fits well with the personalities, the willingness to share. I think with Brunson, there’s something about that that I really like. I don’t know why I like it yet. With these Knicks, you can’t speak too early.</p><p>“We have to make sure we add the right coaching plays and then the coaches stay put, we got a lot of stuff going on in New York. But I’m very excited about this pick and roll coming with those two just because KAT understands spacing and he’s able to stretch the floor as such a big target for Brunson,” Shumpert continued. “He’s got good hands and he can finish giving Brunson that in a scaled-down version because Julius was a little more than a triple-threat player than a smooth combination of a pick-and-roll that we’re used to.”</p><p>Brunson and Randle did well as a pairing together over the past two seasons, helping lead the team to back-to-back semifinals appearances after the team missed the playoffs in eight of the nine prior seasons. However, it became clear that Randle’s crash-to-the-hoop style wasn’t the best fit for Brunson’s playmaking style. Shumpert argues that Towns’ game is a better fit for Brunson than Randle was.</p><p>“Julius breaks it off a little bit more to go downhill,” explains Shumpert. “And I think that KAT and Brunson will have better chemistry in that world — they’ll be more Stockton and Malone than the pick-and-pop and somebody drive it.”</p><p>“They had the pick and roll Melo syndrome, where it’s like Melo from 18 feet. My boy needs nine seconds, we going downhill,” Shumpert continued. “That’s how Julius goes. I think that Brunson gives KAT the ability to get downhill off of somebody having to play catch up and KAT doesn’t get that too often. Towns has shot 52.4% from the field, 39.8% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the charity stripe over his career. By comparison, Randle has shot 47.0% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 74.8% from the free-throw line.</p><p>“I think with who they have playing the perimeter, I think as long as they got somebody that can knock down shots, that KAT has available, he can also make that pass,” Shumpert said. “He can make that rotational pass, he can make that hook pass in the strongside corner, he’s able to do that by going downhill I’m excited to see that pick and roll. I don’t want to speak too early and jinx them. I’m not going to say too much, but excited about the Brunson-KAT pick-and-roll.”</p><p>When asked if the Knicks are better off with Towns compared to with Randle, Shumpert didn’t hesitate.</p><p>“Yes,” Shumpert said of the new-look Knicks. “Because the styles fit so much better. “</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
