While in recovery, he is still getting noticed, but in the most unexpected of ways. </p><p>On Monday, Suggs appeared on ESPN’s NBA Today <a href="https://x.com/TheDunkCentral/status/1934693636819607953" rel="noopener">to discuss</a> his cousin Tyrese Haliburton’s performance in the NBA Finals, per NBA Central. Finally, one more fan <a href="https://x.com/bufNYY161st/status/1934704629167870304" rel="noopener">issued a meme</a> of a torn-up Gucci backpack to Suggs.</p><p>“Just let it go bruh…it’s over“@bufNYY161st posted on X. </p><p>Before his injury, Suggs averaged 16.2 points and shot 41% from the field. The Magic finished the season with a 41-41 record, resulting in being the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference. </p><p>Even though he was out, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/orlando-magic/magic-news-jalen-suggs-charging-up-for-playoffs-despite-injury-setback" rel="noopener">Suggs was “charged up” for the playoffs</a>. Ultimately, the Magic were eliminated by the Cleveland Cavaliers. </p><p>However, things are looking up for Suggs.  </p><h2><b>Jalen Suggs’ future with the Magic </b></h2><p>Last October, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/orlando-magic/magic-news-jalen-suggs-agrees-to-5-year-150-5-million-extension-with-orlando" rel="noopener">Suggs signed a 5-year $150.5 million contract extension</a> with the Magic. This is part of a larger pattern of the Magic securing the talents of young talent. </p><p>Suggs is part of a young core that includes Wendell Carter Jr., Franz Wagner, and Jonathan Issac. Suggs has developed a reputation for being a constant playmaker and an effective defensive player. </p><p>He has found ways to get his teammates involved, resulting in high assist totals. The Magic now have a solid third option on the team, and they could be among the top of the Eastern Conference next season. As of now, the focus for Haliburton is on how he can get his team a win in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.</p><p>After having a lead going into the fourth quarter of Game 4, the Pacers fell flat, and the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/thunder-news-shai-gilgeous-alexander-says-has-much-work-do-pacers">Thunder were able to walk away</a> with the win. Maybe a third team is going to have to be involved. Matching salary becomes very, very difficult when you’re talking about the Cavs and the salary situation that they’re in. But I think there’s a framework of a deal between the Cavs and the Magic that would involve Darius Garland and Jalen Suggs.”</p><p>The Cavs enjoyed a tremendous 2024-25 regular season before getting eliminated in the postseason. Cleveland had serious championship hopes but failed to make a deep playoff run.</p><p>As a result, the idea of making a significant trade or two has gained traction as rumors begin to swirl. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/editorials/4-early-cleveland-cavaliers-nba-free-agency-targets-in-2025-offseason">Cavs’ official offseason plan</a> has yet to be revealed, but Garland could be traded if Cleveland finds a tempting enough offer.</p><p>There is a chance that Cleveland will decide to keep the core of Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley together. After all, the core led the Cavs to no shortage of success during the regular season. The question is whether or not the team believes those players can lead them to a championship.</p><p>If the Cavs feel any uncertainty, a trade or two could end up being made. As for the Magic, acquiring a guard such as Garland would give them a new big three as Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner lead the way.</p><p>The specific details of a potential trade would make the deal challenging to make official. She was selected 10th overall, and among the many people who were happy to see her finally make it to the league was none other than her boyfriend, Jalen Suggs.</p><p>Perhaps not everyone also knows that Van Lith is also the girlfriend of the Orlando Magic guard and former Gonzaga Bulldogs star. Suggs was in attendance at the site of the draft at The Shed at Hudson Yards in Manhattan on Monday night, and even shared some of his thoughts about Hailey Van Lith during a conversation with Taylor Rooks.</p><p>How can you quantify how much Hailey [Van Lith] wants to win?” Rooks asked Suggs.</p><p>To that, Suggs made sure to paint a clear picture of how competitive his girlfriend is.</p><p>“We go play bowling, card games, board games, puzzles, whatever. That was on full display during her memorable five-year college basketball career.</p><p>Hailey Van Lith began her college tenure with the Louisville Cardinals, playing for the program from 2020 to 2024. She then transferred to the then-reigning NCAA Tournament champions LSU Tigers but after a season in Baton Rouge, decided to spend her final year of eligibility with the Horned Frogs.</p><p>In 172 games in college, Van Lith put up averages of 15.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 42.2 percent from the field and 33.8 percent from behind the arc.</p><p>With the Sky, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/wnba/chicago-sky/skys-angel-reese-hypes-up-hailey-van-lith-reunion-after-2025-wnba-draft">Hailey Van Lith gets reunited with former LSU teammate Angel Reese</a>, who just finished her rookie season in the WNBA. Starting guard Jalen Suggs underwent knee surgery that <a href="https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/1896262352833790068" rel="noopener">will keep him out indefinitely</a>, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.</p><p>“Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove a cartilage fragment in his left knee and is out indefinitely, sources tell ESPN,” Charania reported on X. “His return will be based on rehab and he is expected to make a full recovery.”</p><p>Suggs’ injury is the latest in a string of them for the Magic this season. He has been out since January 3 with the injury, save for one game on January 25 where he played just 16 minutes.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/magic-news-paolo-banchero-cleared-return-oblique-injury">Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner and Suggs have all missed a lot of time</a> this season and have only played six games together, making it very difficult for the team to find continuity and play their best basketball.</p><p>Suggs has quickly become one of the best perimeter guards in the league on the defensive end of the floor during his career. He is consistently able to shut down the opposing team’s best ball handler, which goes a long way towards giving the Magic one of the best defensive units in the league each year.</p><p>The Gonzaga product has taken a step forward on the offensive end of the floor as well this season despite playing in just 35 games. He is the team’s third-leading scorer at 16.2 points per game and is able to get to the rim effectively at times. While Suggs’ perimeter shot is still a work in progress (31.4% on 6.9 3-pointers per game), he is still crucial in helping Orlando stay organized on that end.</p><p>The Magic offense has been one of the worst in the NBA this season and that is a big reason why they are currently stuck in eighth place in the Eastern Conference at 29-32. His injury originally was ruled as a left quad contusion before further testing revealed the trochlea issue in his knee.</p><p>Overall, Suggs has now missed 24 of the Magic’s last 25 games. Orlando has struggled without him, going 9-17 in his absence, and currently sits at 29-32 as the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.</p><p>Before the injury, Suggs was in the midst of a career-best season. The 2024 NBA All-Defensive Second Team selection was averaging a career-high 16.2 points, four rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 41% from the field across 35 contests. His defensive intensity and two-way impact had played a significant role in Orlando’s early success.</p><p>With Suggs’ return timeline still unclear, the Magic will need to continue adjusting in his absence.
