Nonetheless, Jamal Murray is not fazed.</p><p>Murray, despite undoubtedly dealing with the sting of seeing his and the Nuggets’ season come to an end, <a href="https://twitter.com/ohnohedidnt24/status/1924232073629339938" rel="noopener">was confident</a> that they will be back on the mountaintop of the NBA.</p><p>“100% [confidence]. We just came up short tonight. What will be key for the Nuggets, however, is keeping Murray healthy.</p><p>One of the best parts of the Nuggets’ 2024-25 season was the emergence of Christian Braun in a starting role; Braun was enormous for the Nuggets and made them not miss Kentavious Caldwell-Pope too much. Braun averaged 15.2 points last season on 58 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent from deep, making him a keeper for Denver.</p><p>Aaron Gordon was the hero of this year’s playoff run and should be back to being at his best provided he recovers fully from his hamstring strain. The Nuggets’ core four of Jokic, Murray, Braun, and Gordon should be a good enough foundation for a championship team, they simply have to re-assess the roster around them.</p><h2><b>Nuggets must prioritize depth this offseason</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/May-18-2025-Oklahoma-City-Oklahoma-USA-Oklahoma-City-Thunder-guard-Cason-Wallace-22-shoots-beside-Denver-Nuggets-guard-Jamal-Murray-27-in-the-second-half-of-game-seven-of-the-se.jpg"><figcaption>Alonzo Adams-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>The Nuggets are going to face difficulties when it comes to adding depth this offseason. Zeke Nnaji and Dario Saric’s contracts will continue to clog their cap sheet, and both of them have negative trade value. Meanwhile, the huge contracts for Jokic, Murray, Gordon, and Michael Porter Jr. means that they’re very limited in what they can do without dangling one of those players.</p><p>Suffice to say, Jokic, Murray, and Gordon appear to be safe from trade conversations. A blockbuster deal for the Nuggets will have to start with the inclusion of Porter. He now writes about sports instead as a form of therapy.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Denver Nuggets</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets put up a valiant effort, pushing the 68-win and heavily favored Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games in their second-round matchup, but in the end, they did not have enough to get across the finish line.</p><p>In Game 7, the Nuggets struggled after a great start to the ballgame en route to suffering a season-ending 125-93 defeat with Murray, who finished with 13 points on 6-16 shooting from the field, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/oklahoma-city-thunder/thunder-news-chet-holmgren-makes-shai-gilgeous-alexander-mvp-declaration-after-game-7">being thoroughly outplayed by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander</a>.</p><p>Gilgeous-Alexander, the likely winner of the 2025 NBA MVP, put up 35 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field and was brilliant for the final three games of the series.</p><p>His brilliance even frustrated the Nuggets at times, including his Team Canada teammate Murray, who <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nuggets-jamal-murray-mocks-shai-gilgeous-alexanders-flopping">mocked Gilgeous-Alexander’s tendency to exaggerate contact</a> in an attempt to get to the foul line and manufacture easy points for his team in Game 6.</p><p>Nonetheless, now that the series is over and all competitiveness can be put to the side, the Nuggets guard wishes his Canadian compatriot nothing but the best. In fact, Murray wants Gilgeous-Alexander to make their hometown proud.</p><p>“Bring it home. The front office’s shortcomings in bringing in the prerequisite depth has made it so that Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and Christian Braun had to log a heavy workload — with Michael Porter Jr. and Russell Westbrook taking turns filling in that fifth spot.</p><p>Peyton Watson and Julian Strawther tried their best, but in the end, they couldn’t be relied upon in Game 7 to give the Nuggets the boost that they needed.</p><p>At the very least, they can now rest their weary legs and prepare for next season with the intention of running it back, competing for a championship but this time doing so with a greater assortment of talent around them.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

For most of the series, everybody on each side has been available and healthy, but the Nuggets now have Russell Westbrook, Jamal Murray, and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nuggets-aaron-gordon-gets-huge-game-7-update-amid-hamstring-injury">Aaron Gordon on the injury report</a>.</p><p>Murray has been the second leading scorer for the Nuggets alongside Nikola Jokic, and he has played a major part in why the Nuggets have been able to stay alive in the series. Gordon has also been a major part of the Nuggets’ success, playing well on both sides of the ball and winning Game 1 for them. Westbrook is playing the most minutes off the bench, and his play style has lifted the second unit while helping to give some of the starters a breather.</p><p>Murray <a href="https://ak-static.cms.nba.com/referee/injury/Injury-Report_2025-05-18_08AM.pdf" rel="noopener">is dealing with</a> an illness, Gordon has a left hamstring strain, and Westbrook has a right hand sprain. If the Nuggets want a good chance at winning this game and advancing to the next round, they’re going to need all three of these players on the floor, as they’ve helped them get this far in the series.</p><h2><b>Nuggets’ injury report vs. Thunder</b></h2><p>The Nuggets got good news just before tip in Game 7, as they announced that Murray, Westbrook and Gordon are <a href="https://x.com/nuggets/status/1924176302288097392?s=46&amp;t=vnLDgTn4yNZudl1UzUUjJA" rel="noopener">all available to play</a>.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nuggets-news-aaron-gordon-injury-game-7-status-doubt">Gordon suffered a hamstring strain</a> during the final minutes of Game 6, and it looked like the injury was going to be something that could possibly leave his status in doubt in a win-or-go-home game. However, he gingerly went through pre-game warm-ups and is going to give it a go despite what seems like a severe injury.</p><p>Murray played through his illness in Game 6 and played very well, so the Nuggets will be hoping that he feels even better for Game 7. After a questionable whistle favored the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6, Murray took a jab at the MVP candidate’s ability to sell contact, clearly unimpressed with the officiating.</p><p>The clip shows the Thunder star driving to the basket in an effort to draw a foul rather than make a clean scoring attempt. Gilgeous-Alexander splits a double team and then dramatically lunges forward after slight contact from Nuggets forward Christian Braun, who is promptly whistled for a personal foul—a call that many around the league and among fans have called into question.</p><p>Given how tightly contested the game was, the referee’s decision to blow the whistle on that play left the Nuggets visibly stunned. Gilgeous-Alexander sank both free throws, cutting the Nuggets’ lead to 90-82 heading into the final period.</p><p>However, the call had little effect on the outcome, as the Nuggets held firm with a gritty, hard-fought effort in Game 6. Nikola Jokic powered the team with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nuggets-news-nuggets-jamal-murray-game-6-status">Jamal Murray, battling through illness</a>, still managed to deliver 25 points, eight boards, and seven dimes. He shot 9-of-19 from the field, including 2-of-6 from beyond the arc, and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line.</p><p>Murray <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45171218/jamal-murray-scores-25-nuggets-force-game-7-vs-thunder" rel="noopener">reflected on his condition</a> after the game, which bothered him.
