After three straight seasons of making the playoffs, everything that could go wrong for them went wrong. Ja Morant already began the season on the sidelines after the league <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grizzlies-star-ja-morant-takes-accountability-after-eye-opening-therapy">suspended him for 25 games</a> for his off-court troubles, and then just as the Grizzlies were looking to make a run in January, they lost Morant to a season-ending shoulder injury. In the end, the Grizzlies finished 13th in the Western Conference with a ghastly 27-55 record.</p><p>Morant became too big of a distraction for the Grizzlies to end the 2022-23 season, as his eight-game suspension in March 2023 cast a huge cloud on the team — a cloud they would not be able to recover from as they suffered a first-round exit at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers. But for Jaren Jackson Jr., <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ByD7h1Jqz8" rel="noopener">nothing is going to change</a> the brotherhood he has with Morant even though he went through plenty of battles away from the hardwood.</p><p>“That’s our brother. It’s way different than just being someone’s teammate,” Jackson said in a guest appearance on TNT’s Inside the NBA.</p><figure class="op-interactive"></figure><p>There is always an adjustment period that comes with all the fame and fortune of being one of the most well-known professional athletes on the planet. But now that Ja Morant’s off-court troubles appear to be over and done with, they can now turn their attention to bouncing back next season after injuries ravaged Morant and the rest of the Grizzlies’ season.</p><p>“Sometimes, you make mistakes and stuff happens. But injuries are part of the game, unfortunately, and I’ve been there. [Ja]’s never had an injury like that. He handled it really well. He was still a voice at all times, he never stopped working out. I’m proud of him for that,” Jackson added. “Injuries is part of it. But now that’s over with. He and his entourage were reportedly caught harassing an employee at a mall, he reportedly punched a 17-year old boy in the face during a pickup basketball game, and then a car allegedly containing Morant and his entourage pointed a laser from a gun towards an Indiana Pacers team bus following a game between them and the Grizzlies.</p><p>However, the low point in Morant’s career was the time he <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grizzlies-news-ja-morant-under-police-investigation-for-ig-gun-scandal">flashed a gun</a> on his Instagram live while being in an adult club in Colorado. This immediately drew the attention of the league as the Grizzlies reported that their star point guard was taking time off the team. The league then suspended Morant for eight games.</p><p>But Morant’s troubles <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grizzlies-news-ja-morant-breaks-silence-after-2nd-gun-scandal">did not end there</a>. He was caught brandishing a gun on Instagram live for the second time in three months, and the Grizzlies promptly suspended him from participating in team activities while the league took its time in determining which punishment fit Morant’s actions. The league settled on a 25-game suspension, putting the Grizzlies on the backfoot from the get-go of the 2023-24 season.</p><p>Since then, it seems like <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grizzlies-news-adam-silver-positive-ja-morant-update-troubling-year">Morant has learned his lesson</a>. No reports about any concerning activity of his has come out since then. In a bit of a plot twist, it was Jaren Jackson Jr., a player who missed plenty of time early in his career due to injuries, who led the team in games played with 66.</p><p>The Grizzlies had no semblance of continuity, although they did unearth a few gems that should make them an even deeper team come next season. GG Jackson, their 2023 second-round pick, looked like a keeper thanks to his athleticism and penchant for scoring the basketball. Vince Williams is a do-it-all, playmaking wing who can defend at a high level. IF YOU DO COME BACK, YOU BETTTA GET 9 MORE FKN REBS!!” X account 21PHX21 furthered.</p><p>Duren has played well for the Pistons this season, averaging 13.9 points and 12.0 rebounds a night in his 56 games played.</p><p>A couple of weeks ago, Jalen Duren had a dominant performance for the Pistons against the Toronto Raptors. He finished the night scoring 24 points, missing just one shot while going 8-of-9 from the field. He also grabbed 23 rebounds and dished five assists in his stat-stuffing performance on March 15.</p><p>After that game, Pistons teammate Isaiah Stewart had <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pistons-news-jalen-duren-dominates-raptors-for-detroits-second-straight-victory">high praise for Duren</a>.</p><p>“The sky is the limit for him. I tell him every day, everybody tells him every day the sky is the limit for him. They’ve had one of the lengthiest injury reports in the NBA and have needed <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grizzlies-news-memphis-gg-jackson-plan-will-fire-up-fantasy-basketball-managers" rel="noopener">some of their rookies</a> and two-way contract players to play major minutes so they can field a roster. But as the season winds down, they’re slowly but surely getting players back in the lineup. In addition to Desmond Bane, the Grizzlies are expected to have Jaren Jackson Jr. <a href="https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/sports/nba/grizzlies/2024/03/15/desmond-bane-injury-update-memphis-grizzlies-jaren-jackson-jr-santi-aldama/72962990007/" rel="noopener">back from a quad injury</a> on Saturday as per Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal.</p><p>Jaren Jackson Jr. has missed the last two games for the Grizzlies as he’s dealt with a quad injury. Despite the Grizzlies injury woes, Jackson has been one of the more relatively healthy players on the roster. He’s suited up in 57 games this season at exactly 32 minutes per game. He’s also in the midst of having one of his best seasons.</p><p>Jackson had been averaging a career high 22.4 points per game, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.6 blocked shots with splits of 44.4 percent shooting from the field, 32.6 percent shooting from the three point line and 80.9 percent shooting from the free throw line.</p><p>The No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Jackson has become one of the better defensive players in the NBA. He had a tough outing though in the offseason as part of Team USA during their disappointing finish at the FIBA World Cup.</p><p>Jackson figures to be a major piece for the Grizzlies next season when they’re healthy and ready for playoff contention.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

On the second night of a back-to-back, the Wolves struggled to handle the Grizzlies’ size and physicality. The team got severely out-rebounded on the night. Grizzlies <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grizzlies-news-jaren-jackson-jr-opens-up-steven-adams-influence-vets-trade-rockets" rel="noopener">big Jaren Jackson Jr.</a> was having his way with Minnesota. Jackson had his inside game going early and sprinkled in some long-distance shots to as he was the game-high scorer through most of the night. Clearly gassed from the night prior, Minnesota was searching for a miracle. That’s when <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/timberwolves-anthony-edwards-fires-nsfw-message-to-voters-over-all-defense-bid" rel="noopener">All-Star guard Anthony Edwards</a> stepped up in a big way.</p><p>Not only did Edwards carry the load offensively but he dialed in on the defensive end as well. When further discussing the matchup with Jackson Jr., Edwards shared his secret to defending bigger players.</p><p>“You gotta be physical. I think playing football helped me a lot growing up as a kid. You gotta initiate the contact, be the first one to hit and after that, it’s a fight. We’re in the ring.”</p><p>Equating his hard work defensively to a fight, Edwards showcased his football background on Wednesday night. Battling for every inch on the court, Edwards pressed up on Jackson Jr. and made him uncomfortable. We got to make some decisions. Obviously we’re excited about the flexibility it creates for us. . . . The impact (Adams) made was a big one for us. Obviously we’re going to miss him. Hopefully he gets healthy. He’s been working really hard in his rehab. He had a huge impact not just on the floor, but also in the locker room.”</p><p>Jenkins also spoke on how the team plans to play starting power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. at center more moving forward.</p><p>“Learning that development opportunity for (Jackson) with the ball in his hands more as a screener,” Jenkins said. “Having some shooting around him. But also, the Steven archetype. Someone that’s big and physical, does a great job setting screens, rebounder, facilitator. Still, there’s a small group of traditional bigs making a living down in the paint, and one of them is Steven Adams.</p><p>Dubbed by many as the strongest man in the NBA, Adams gets his minutes by anchoring the middle. He doesn’t score a ton of points, but his rebounding and presence in the paint is a silent game-changer for the teams he’s been in. And that’s exactly what Jaren Jackson Jr. emphasized when asked bout Adams’ recent trade from the Memphis Grizzlies.</p><p>Jackson spoke about how playing in a frontcourt alongside a center like Adams <a href="https://twitter.com/Matt_Infield/status/1753274197265031344" rel="noopener">opened up opportunities</a> for him offensively.</p><p>“He’s just a physical specimen they have to deal with,” Jackson said, via Action News 5’s Matt Infield. “Last year everyone was focused on him a lot so it allowed me to catch people off guard. Jackson flourished in his role as the Grizzlies’ primary offensive option, dropping 36 points on 15-23 shooting from the field, with no two points bigger than his statement jam right over the grill of three-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert.</p><p>Jackson, acting as the Grizzlies’ play initiator deep in the fourth quarter, attacked the lane off of a screen from his teammate, Luke Kennard. Gobert, however, was still in position in the lane as Jackson prodded his way into the paint. Santi Aldama, in particular, had a ton of trouble scoring over Gobert to the point where the TNT commentating crew was able to point out that the Grizzlies were afraid of going up against the three-time DPOY.</p><p>Jaren Jackson Jr., however, was fearless all throughout the night. Of course, it’s important to note that the Grizzlies were on the second night of a back-to-back, and Jackson did log 30 minutes on Friday night in a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Nonetheless, Jackson’s knee appears to be bothering him still, as according to the <a href="https://ak-static.cms.nba.com/referee/injury/Injury-Report_2024-01-15_08AM.pdf" rel="noopener">latest injury report</a> the Grizzlies submitted, he is “questionable” for their MLK Day game against the Warriors due to the same issue.</p><p>Jackson hasn’t missed too many games for the Grizzlies this season; he played in the first 36 games of the season, back when Memphis was still hopeful of mounting a late-season playoff push, but he has now missed two of their past three games due to the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grizzlies-news-jaren-jackson-jr-injury-update-vs-mavs-after-ja-morants-season-ending-revelation" rel="noopener">same knee contusion</a> that is threatening to keep him out of their next contest.</p><p>Due to how the Grizzlies’ season has turned out, there is no reason whatsoever for them to push Jaren Jackson Jr. to play through any sort of discomfort. It’s been nothing but injury, after injury and it just keeps going. With Ja Morant already out for the season, it sounds like Jaren Jackson Jr. won’t be available for the Saturday night game against the New York Knicks.</p><p>As it turns out, Jackson is reportedly suffering from <a href="https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1746326755948839391" rel="noopener">a right knee contusion</a>, according to NBA Insider, Chris B. Haynes. For that reason, the Grizzlies star is officially ruled out for Saturday night’s game.</p><p>“Jaren Jackson Jr. (right knee contusion) is OUT for the Grizzlies-Knicks game tonight, per Chris B. Haynes.”</p><p>It feels like the entire team is injured at this point. The problems are clearly stacking up, as Memphis is currently in 13th place in the Western Conference. With the number of injuries <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/celtics-news-marcus-smarts-finger-injury-puts-damper-boston-return" rel="noopener">the Grizzlies have surmounted</a>, maybe it’s time for the franchise to focus on next season. Especially now with Jaren Jackson Jr. suffering this knee injury.</p><p>Hopefully, it’s not as serious as Ja Morant’s shoulder injury.
