Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/portland-trail-blazers/blazers-news-chauncey-billups-arrested-terry-rozier-fbi-sports-gambling-probe">were among 30 individuals arrested</a>.</p><p>In response, former NBA player and podcaster Jeff Teague <a href="https://youtu.be/phPJKmXxn3M?t=8" rel="noopener">offered some humorous analysis</a> of the situation, per the Club 520 Podcast. Essentially, Teague mentioned former NBA player and assistant coach Damon Jones, who was among those arrested.</p><p>“I know Damon Jones started all this s—t. I feel it in my bones,” Teague said. Later, Teague provided clarification.</p><p>“I feel like he said, I got the plug,” he said. “No I’m just playing but man that’s crazy to see though.”</p><p>While Teague brought it up as a joke, it was a fairly intriguing thing to mention during an investigation. Altogether, Jones played in the NBA for 11 years before becoming an assistant coach. He was on staff for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers.</p><p>According to The Athletic, Jones <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6743596/2025/10/23/lebon-james-damon-jones-nba-gambling-investigation/" rel="noopener">allegedly provided</a> non-public information about LeBron James during the 2023 NBA season.</p><p>In 2018, Jones became known for an infamous incident involving former Cavaliers player JR Smith. Off the court, Smith threw a bowl of soup at Jones, resulting in a one-game suspension.</p><h2><b>An assessment Jeff Teague’s brand of NBA commentary</b></h2><p>Altogether, Teague played 12 seasons in the NBA. On the Club 520 podcast, he provides some in-depth analysis on players throughout the league, examining team strategies, and lending some interesting commentary.</p><p>Along the way, Teague has managed to offer some tidbits on everything ranging from <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-news-lebron-james-urged-retire-jeff-teague">calling for LeBron James to retire</a> to saying that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-news-jeff-teague-controversial-kobe-bryant-take-called-out-gilbert-arenas">Kobe Bryant wasn’t all that defensively</a>.</p><p>Also, Teague has <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/nba-news-jeff-teague-shades-michael-jordan-kevin-durant-lebron-james-take">derided Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant</a> in defense of LeBron James. Plus, he has said that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/philadelphia-76ers/76ers-news-jeff-teague-insists-joel-embiid-better-nikola-jokic-1-condition">Joel Embiid was better than Nikola Jokic</a>.</p><p>So given all that, it should come as no surprise that Teague would weigh in on the gambling investigation in the only way he knows how.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Well, you've come to the right place.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>After missing much of the 2024-25 NBA season with yet another knee injury, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/philadelphia-76ers/76ers-news-joel-embiid-paul-george-heavy-day-hope">Joel Embiid is officially back and made his regular season return in the Philadelphia 76ers</a> nail-biter of a win over the Boston Celtics.</p><p>While the 76ers didn’t get much out of Embiid in the game, with VJ Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey instead dominating the Celtics’ backcourt as <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/philadelphia-76ers/76ers-news-fans-feel-joel-embiid-ugly-4-point-night-celtics">“The Process” onlys scored four points and six rebounds in 20 minutes of action</a>, in the opinion of Jeff Teague, Philadelphia still has <a href="https://x.com/ClutchPoints/status/1981106129028452440" rel="noopener">one of the most dominant players</a> in the NBA today.</p><p>Discussing the top centers in the NBA on <i>Club 520</i>, Teague boldly declared that if Embiid isn’t hurt – which isn’t all that often – the 76ers have the best center in basketball, even better than Nikola Jokic.</p><p>“Joel Embiid is really better than [Nikola Jokic] if he don’t ever get hurt,” Teague declared. “If Embiid’s not hurt, he’s the best player in the NBA. Nobody can stop him.”</p><p>From a purely statistical perspective, Embiid is one of the most effective scorers in NBA history, leading the league in points per game from 20021-23 before averaging more than a point a minute in 2023-24 before being shut down for the season. However, 76ers general manager Elton Brand refused to give Grimes what he wanted. Now, former NBA guard Jeff Teague wants Grimes to take the original offer.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/philadelphia-76ers/76ers-news-quentin-grimes-reveals-mindset-behind-career-best-performance-vs-warriors">Grimes stepped up in Paul George’s absence last year</a>, averaging 21.9 points per game. After showing out down the stretch of the season, many thought the guard would get a big payday this summer. However, the market was unkind to players like him and Jonathan Kuminga. Now, their futures are uncertain as they and their agents try to figure out what their next move is.</p><p>Teague offered Grimes some advice on the Club 520 Podcast. According to the former All-Star, the guard <a href="https://youtu.be/KO6YYlTXgJk?t=234" rel="noopener">does not have the bargaining power</a> to earn a large contract from the 76ers.</p><p>“You’re at a disadvantage bro. Play it out, there’s cash and space next year with some more teams,” Teague said. “Maybe somebody, you play well, maybe you’ll get a deal. I’m going to take that one year for $8 (million) because I’m not going to leave any money on the table. You ain’t going to get no deal killer. If they haven’t offered you yet, all you’re going to do is give somebody more opportunity to show yourself in camp.”</p><p>Teague also broke down that Grimes’ increased production was because of Philadelphia’s unique circumstances last season. According to him, there are multiple obstacles standing between the guard and elite production next season.</p><p>“The only reason you were getting the opportunity is because PG wasn’t PG,” Teague said. “He was hurt, Jared McCain was hurt. After making headlines over the summer, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-orleans-pelicans/pelicans-news-look-skinnier-zion-williamson-media-day">Williamson’s new figure wowed reporters at Media Day</a>. Pelicans forward Trey Murphy commended Zion for his hardwork, adding the veteran is in a good place mentally ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.</p><p>Still, Teague criticized the moment, reminding everyone that Williamson’s <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN6YHlTmpgI&amp;t=84s" rel="noopener">weight was an issue he did</a> to himself, Teague said, per his Club 520 Podcast.</p><p>“This is probably the dumbest press conference I’ve ever heard in my life. All this stuff is because of you. You choose to eat, be out of shape, all of that,” Teague said. “Now, all of a sudden, it’s a contract year, probably, or he’s looking for an extension. All of a sudden, he’s in shape and they believe in him. Fool, they gave you a max deal. They’ve been believed in you. But they had to put all those options on there because you didn’t believe in you.”</p><p>Williamson is entering the third year of a five-year, $197.3 million extension. However, his current deal comes with stipulations, including a 295-pound limit and body fat monitored. An All-NBA selection also triggers a 30% increase in salary, which can top out at $231 million if the terms are met throughout the duration of Zion’s current deal. The Australian forward entered the league and quickly became a star with the Philadelphia 76ers. However, he has fallen far from grace. After spending the last part of the 2024-25 season with the Los Angeles Clippers, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-news-ben-simmons-agent-drops-him-retirement-rumors">not even Simmons’ agent wants him anymore</a>. Jeff Teague wants him to retire.</p><p>Simmons has fought back issues and mental blocks for the last few years. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/philadelphia-76ers/why-sixers-are-clear-cut-winners-of-james-harden-ben-simmons-trade-one-year-later">76ers traded him to the Brooklyn Nets</a> in exchange for James Harden in a deal that ended his partnership with Joel Embiid. Since then, the forward has not been able to recapture the magic that made him an All-Star. Despite interest from multiple teams, Simmons has few options without an agent.</p><p>Teague had a long career in the NBA and played against Simmons in the later years of his career. According to him, it is time for Simmons to <a href="https://youtu.be/bayTRAdyu2Q?t=80" rel="noopener">hang his sneakers up and retire</a>. He said on the Club 520 podcast that the forward is out of opportunity to contribute to a team the way he used to.</p><p>“Yeah it’s over bro y’all seen him when he was playing. He can’t move no more,” Teague said. “He runs like people on 2K. If you’ve got Kawhi’s motion style, you know what I’m talking about. You run like your back hurts. He runs like his back hurts. He’s hurt, I used to always be like okay whatever, but no, he’s legit hurt. What made him effective was pushing the ball and being dynamic in transition and he can’t do that anymore. Or he doesn’t have the opportunity, like nobody believes it.”</p><p>Simmons has yet to make his next move. However, his agent abandoning him is a bad sign for his future as he tries to find a new team. His playoff games for the Clippers could very well be the last ones he plays in his NBA career if Teague is right.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
