He joined ClutchPoints in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-orleans-pelicans/bill-simmons-calls-pelicans-draft-trade-with-hawks-one-of-dumbest-of-decade">New Orleans Pelicans have had</a> a busy offseason so far, recently <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-orleans-pelicans/pelicans-news-stephen-a-smith-calls-jeremiah-fears-the-second-coming-of-kyrie-irving">drafting both Jeremiah Fears</a> and Derik Queen in the first round of the NBA Draft to try to kickstart their franchise. The Pelicans are coming off of a disastrous 2024-25 season in which they finished with the second worst record in the Western Conference, thanks in no small part due to injury.</p><p>While most teams may be able to chalk that up to an unlucky year, the injury concern is perpetually hanging over the Pelicans’ heads due to the presence of Zion Williamson on their roster.</p><p>Williamson has missed more games than he has played so far in his five-year NBA career, and recently, former NBA All-Star point guard Jeff Teague made <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=69&amp;v=8ENOgTmLHVM&amp;feature=youtu.be" rel="noopener">a grim prediction</a> about Williamson’s future.</p><p>“He isn’t going to ever play. Like Zion’s going to retire in two years. Bro, you think he’s going to play until he’s 30?” wondered Teague, via his Club 520 podcast.</p><p>Teague then clarified that he would give Williamson “four years max.”</p><p>Williamson has dealt with a wide array of injuries throughout his career but remains one of the game’s most unique players when he is on the floor.</p><h2><b>A consequential season for the Pelicans</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Jeremiah-Fears-selected-by-Pelicans.jpg"><figcaption>© Brad Penner-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>In order to draft Derik Queen in the first round, newly minted Pelicans general manager and NBA Hall of Famer Joe Dumars traded away the team’s right to swap picks with the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2026 draft, meaning that whoever has the more favorable of those two picks next year will see that selection be shipped to the Atlanta Hawks.</p><p>It was a hefty price to pay to draft Queen, whose fit next to Williamson would appear to be suspect on paper.</p><p>Teams generally don’t trade unprotected first round picks unless they are quite confident that they will be a good team in the ensuing year, and it’s unclear where that confidence is coming from for Dumars, as the Pelicans have several injury red flags on their roster and also will play at least part of the season without starting point guard Dejounte Murray.</p><p>Still, sometimes swinging for the fences can pay off.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Rutgers star, despite being a consensus five-star recruit, has come under huge controversy <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/2025-nba-mock-draft-5-0-76ers-hornets-ace-bailey-destiny-latest-intel">after Bailey refused to work out or meet with any NBA team</a> in the buildup to the draft.</p><p>Nobody had seriously doubted his potential, and that seems to include the Jazz as well. However, Bailey was seemingly <a href="https://www.espn.in/nba/story/_/id/45586394/jazz-ace-bailey-preferred-landing-spots" rel="noopener">moved to tears</a> after Utah selected him, even claiming that he didn’t have any idea they wanted to select him, per ESPN.</p><p>Now, former NBA All-Star Jeff Teague <a href="https://youtu.be/u-3cV4MhMNE?t=1136" rel="noopener">has dropped a stellar piece of advice</a> for the 18-year-old. Bailey had named the likes of the Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans and the Brooklyn Nets as his preferred landing spots, teams on which he believed he could immediately be the main star.</p><p>“When you make it to the NBA, the biggest thing is they have banks in every city. So you’re going to be able to go to the bank. You’re going to get to have fun. </p><p>“You’re not there that long; you’re there for six or seven months at most; you’re going to go home. You’ll be back in Atlanta or Miami very soon. Go ahead and get your game right, hoop, play, and it’s probably the best for you bro,” Teague said on Club 520 podcast.</p><h2><b>Jeff Teague compares Ace Bailey to former Jazz player Donovan Mitchell</b></h2><p>Teague then took up the example of Donovan Mitchell, who spent five seasons in Utah before moving to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The former Hawks guard believes that Bailey has everything he needs to emulate what Mitchell did.</p><p>“Do what Donovan Mitchell did. He had it lit in Utah. They were going to the playoffs. They were winning; nobody cared. He had his own shoe; he got his own s—t in Utah; then he left,” he said.</p><p>Behind the scenes, Bailey was seemingly inconsolable as he people in his team offered him their support. His decision to not train or meet any NBA team pre-draft appeared to be an attempt to get to one of his preferred destinations.</p><p>While the Wizards, Pelicans and <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/brooklyn-nets/sources-nets-eyeing-draft-trade-76ers-hornets-ace-bailey-buzz">the Nets had the</a> sixth, seventh, and the eighth picks in the NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers reportedly were considering Bailey with their third overall pick. However, Philadelphia selected VJ Edgecombe, and the Jazz’s decision to pick Bailey seemingly left him stunned. </p><p>The star guard averaged 17.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game for  Rutgers as a freshman this past season, which proved enough for Utah to take him despite his antics in the buildup to the draft. </p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

The Minnesota Timberwolves eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers in a decisive first-round series. Despite <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-news-mavericks-luka-doncic-anthony-davis-trade">trading for Luka Doncic</a>, James and the Lakers were unable to make a deep playoff run. With Mark Walter taking over as Los Angeles’ new owner, Jeff Teague thinks James should retire.</p><p>Teague gave his opinion on James’ future on Wednesday’s episode of the <i>Club 520 Podcast</i>. The former All-Star point guard played against the future Hall-of-Famer throughout his NBA career, including three playoff series. Unfortunately for Teague, he never beat James in the postseason, suffering sweeps in three consecutive seasons to the Cleveland Cavaliers.</p><p>James has been the model of consistency for his team, but the Lakers’ situation has changed over the last 12 months. Adding Doncic shifts the team’s focus from now to the future. The arrival of <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-news-buss-family-agrees-to-bombshell-sale-franchise">Mark Walter as the new owner could help Los Angeles</a> attract more stars to carry the Lakers into the future as well.</p><p>According to Teague, James has simply played in the league too long. He reacted to rumors that James could spend the last seasons of his career with the Cavaliers, but <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxhKr_oEDDA" rel="noopener">does not want him to play</a> in the NBA any longer.</p><p>“And Bron[LeBron James], this ain’t no disrespect,” Teague said. “You my favorite player, bro. I think you the GOAT all-time. But I’m tired, bro. If you want to go somewhere, me and the rest of your fan base—we tired.”</p><p>Teague is not the only former player that has brought up James retiring this season. Experts and NBA media personnel have said that it is time for the four-time champion to hang up his sneakers after last season. However, James has not confirmed anything as it pertains to his future plans.</p><p>Along with his retirement rumors, there is speculation that the Lakers forward could entertain a trade. One that has gained more steam since the ACL injuries in the postseason involves the Cavaliers. James led them to a title back in 2016 and fans believe that he could be the key to Cleveland’s success in 2026-27.</p><p>On the other hand, James has an opportunity to bounce back strong alongside Doncic next season. If Walter’s arrival helps <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/los-angeles-lakers-trade-targets-2025-nba-offseason">Los Angeles obtain a big man to anchor their defense</a>, the Lakers are dangerous.</p><p>Despite that, Teague is ready for James to call it a career. The former Pacers point guard referenced early-round matchups to support his claim.</p><p>“A bunch of people sent me this today… and they were just like, Teague, you’ve been saying this from series one, series two, and you’ll look at his shot attempts in this finals. They don’t really pass well with their left hand. And I’m like, damn, he reminds me of Chris Paul.”</p><p>Haliburton has averaged 17.9 points, 9.1 assists, and 5.8 rebounds this postseason, helping lead the Pacers to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000. Now, she’s earning Hall of Fame comparisons.</p><p>Former NBA guard Jeff Teague <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgu1-kvE7-c&amp;t=165s" rel="noopener">is ready to anoint</a> Reese as the best rebounder in WNBA history, saying she’s the league’s Dennis Rodman.</p><p>“I’m saying her whole overall game is Dennis Rodman” Teague said in an appearance Monday on the Club 520 podcast. “Her whole brand, everything. Dennis Rodman was the biggest player off the court. He was a f—-ing star and he was a menace on defense and rebounding. She is the Dennis Rodman of the WNBA.”</p><p>“I’m being serious, she’s Dennis Rodman of the WNBA,” he added. “She’s a superstar off the court, but her game is Dennis Rodman on the court.”</p><p>Reese is only in her second season in the W, so it may be premature to start making historical comparisons, but Teague’s reasoning is sound. Reese’s 446 rebounds last year toppled Sylvia Fowles’ previous record of 404 (A’ja Wilson even topped Reese last year, pulling down 451 boards). This season, the Sky star is averaging 12.3 boards through seven games to go with three double-doubles.</p><p>Her overall scoring is down so far from her rookie year (9.1 PPG) but Rodman only averaged double figures scoring once himself.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/wnba/chicago-sky/sky-news-shaq-defends-angel-reese-from-haters-with-powerful-message">Reese’s critics</a> will knock her for <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/wnba/chicago-sky/sky-news-angel-reese-wnba-offensive-rebound-record-wings">piling up the offensive rebounds</a> by missing so many shots close to the rim and being in position to clean them up. There’s validity there. Reese operates mostly in the post and is still only shooting 31 percent from the field — down from last year (39 percent).</p><p>But it’s still early, both in this season and in Reese’s career. For now, she’s shown a relentlessness on the glass, and has been undaunted going up against bigger competition — sometimes to her own detriment. Additionally, players improve over time. Given how slowly many WNBA rookies start their careers, she is still way ahead of the curve as someone who was an impact player from day one.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
