This was a wild contest, but ultimately, a foul from Kevin Durant on league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with less than three seconds to go spelled the Rockets’ fate.</p><p>The Rockets got a huge game out of Alperen Sengun in this one, but one thing that became evident was the team’s lack of a floor general to get the offense situated. Wall previously had a brief stint with the Rockets following the end of his Washington Wizards career.</p><h2><b>A glaring issue for the Rockets</b></h2><p>The Houston Rockets spent most of this offseason assuming that Fred VanVleet would once again be their starting point guard, but that all changed when the former NBA champ went down with a torn ACL just weeks before the campaign got underway.</p><p>Last night, head coach Ime Udoka chose to start a huge lineup, with Amen Thompson running point, and got mixed results. The team does have one true point guard healthy on its roster in last year’s first round pick Reed Sheppard, but the way Oklahoma City was able to relentlessly attack him on defense may make Udoka think twice about his minutes moving forward.</p><p>It’s highly unlikely that the Rockets will actually consider making a change to their roster after losing to a 68-win team in double overtime on the road, but if poor point guard play starts to become a trend this season, they could look for other options.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He will serve as an analyst in their star-studded lineup.</p><p>Prime Video made the announcement on August 20, 2025. Wall is one of the many former players on the panel. He will make in-studio appearances alongside the likes of Blake Griffin, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Dwayne Wade, Candace Parker, and Udonis Haslem.</p><p>“After 13 seasons in the NBA filled with unforgettable moments, I am excited to start a new chapter with NBA on Prime,” said Wall in a statement. “This change is not just a career move; it’s a chance to stay close to the game I love and share the insights I’ve gained throughout my career playing point guard at the highest level.</p><p>“Basketball has shaped my life, and now I can help fans see it from a new angle. Although this is a new journey, my passion for the game remains unchanged. Despite not being on the Washington Wizards’ roster since the 2018-19 season, the organization <a href="https://x.com/ChrisBHaynes/status/1957934817053667373" rel="noopener">managed to acquire</a> a former Kentucky basketball star on the same day Wall retired.</p><p>Reports indicate that the Wizards are signing former Kentucky forward Skal Labissiere, according to NBA Insider Chris Haynes. Labissiere, who is 29 years old, should have a chance to compete for a roster spot this offseason. He’ll likely be in contention for a backup role as a potential power forward.</p><p>“Free agent forward Skal Labissiere has reached an agreement with the Washington Wizards, his agent Daniel Hazan of Hazan Sports Management tells [Chris Haynes].”</p><p>Labissiere was in the NBA from 2016 through 2020, playing for the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers during that time. He then took a three-year hiatus away from the league before rejoining the Kings last season. However, Labissiere only played in four games for the Kings last season.</p><p>Now, he finds himself in Washington with a new opportunity. The Wizards have an incredibly young roster. So, there is a chance the front office and coaching staff decide to keep him for the 2025-26 campaign, as he brings some experience to the table. At the very least, he can serve as a mentor for some of the young players while the club continues to focus on rebuilding. Or, he could bring competition to the younger guys during the offseason in preparation for the upcoming season.</p><p>As for John Wall, he ends his career with 11 years’ worth of experience. He spent of which <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/nba-news-bradley-beal-immediate-reaction-to-john-wall-retirement">with the Wizards</a> before playing one with the Houston Rockets and one with the Los Angeles Clippers.
