The incident took place in a New York City hotel room following the party.</p><p>The accuser has maintained anonymity and first reported the incident to New York City police two months after it occurred. She <a href="https://www.sportico.com/leagues/basketball/2023/trump-attorney-lauro-josh-jackson-1234733070/" rel="noopener">filed a civil case</a> against Jackson one month ago with the U.S. District Court, per Daniel Libit of Sportico.</p><p>Libit also shared the following details from the lawsuit.</p><p>“The woman claims she was very intoxicated upon arriving at Jackson’s room at the New York Edition Hotel, at which point, the lawsuit says, he propositioned her for sex, offering her $1,500 while boasting that he had another $12 million in his bank account. The plaintiff says she rebuffed his request before laying down on the bed in the room and falling asleep.</p><p>“At some point later, the plaintiff alleges, she was awakened by Jackson attempting to forcibly have sex with her and tried to fight him off. The lawsuit says she left the hotel room, purchased an emergency contraceptive from a pharmacy, and took a train home where she showered.”</p><p>No criminal charges have been made against Jackson yet.</p><p>Josh Jackson was the 4th overall pick in the 2017 draft by the Phoenix Suns out of the University of Kansas. After two full seasons with the Suns, he went to play for the Memphis Grizzlies, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pistons-news-former-4th-overall-pick-josh-jackson-agrees-to-deal-detroit" rel="noopener">Detroit Pistons</a>, and Sacramento Kings. The two were caught in a few altercations in the fourth quarter, which eventually caused the young forward to be tossed from the game.</p><p>Before eventually being asked to leave the court, Jackson had some sweet words for Simmons. Around 30 seconds prior, Jackson and Simmons got tangled up in a dead ball situation which resulted in Sixers reserve Mike Scott jumping in. In all fairness, the foul did seem a bit light for a flagrant, but who knows what Jackson would’ve done if he stayed in the game. Of course, the 23-year-old didn’t want to leave the floor for the Pistons without saying his proper goodbyes to Simmons.</p><p>The Pistons did end up with the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/scores/nba/boxscore/philadelphia-76ers-detroit-pistons-1-26-2021/d5e3ceee-5614-4750-9993-266e732fcaa3" rel="noopener">119-104 win</a> over the Sixers, with Jackson tallying 12 points, seven rebounds, one steal and two blocks in 21 minutes. However, the former first-round pick will get a chance to prove himself with the Pistons in the upcoming 2020-21 season.</p><p>Back in the 2017 NBA Draft, Jackson was a popular prospect coming out of Kansas. The 6-foot-8 forward heard his name called by the Phoenix Suns with the No. 4 overall pick, just a year after the Suns took Devin Booker.</p><p>In his rookie season in Phoenix, Jackson struggled with his efficiency, shooting 26.3 percent from 3-point range and 41.7 percent from the field. He averaged 13.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in his first season.</p><p>While improving his 3-point percentage in his second year, Jackson saw his production drop across the board. As a result, after just two seasons with the Suns, Jackson was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies ahead of the 2019-2020 campaign.</p><p>During his lone season with the Grizzlies, Jackson played a career-low 17.3 minutes per game. The Kansas product managed to record career-worsts in points per game (9.0), rebounds (3.0) and steals (0.8).</p><p>Besides Josh Jackson, the Pistons have already <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/pistons-news-jahlil-okafor-agrees-to-2-year-deal-with-detroit/">inked deals</a> with Mason Plumlee and Jahlil Okafor. Three years later, Ainge’s intuition has proven correct.</p><p>Fultz’s struggles in Philly were <a href="https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2878186-what-keeps-markelle-fultz-going">well-documented</a>, and the Sixers ended up trading their top pick to the Orlando Magic in Feb. 2019, where he has found a nice role.</p><p>Tatum, on the other hand, was a polished prospect who was <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Vzw3n27K1o">posterizing LeBron James</a> as a member of the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals as a rookie and has since ascended into near-superstardom.</p><p>Ainge made another strong pick the year before, in 2016, when he selected Jaylen Brown out of Cal at No. 3. Together, Brown and Tatum have blossomed into the best (and most versatile) two-way wing duo in the East, and have provided the Celtics with an enviable foundation for years to come (Kemba Walker helps, too).</p><p>At 23, Brown is not only an All-Star-caliber player, but also one of the most <a href="https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/08/09/sports/jaylen-brown-continues-use-his-voice-amplify-important-issues/">profound</a> people in sports. Turns out, that profundity may have influenced Ainge ahead of the 2017 draft.</p><p>Brown was in Europe in the hours before the draft when he got a call at 4 a.m. from Ainge. Brown thought he had been traded, but the Celtics president was calling for a second opinion regarding Tatum and Josh Jackson, who Ainge was considering, too.</p><p>Despite the overlap in Brown and Tatum’s style, Brown advocated for the former Duke Blue Devil:</p><blockquote>“I told him, ‘JT is your guy,’” Brown <a href="https://www.si.com/nba/2020/09/01/celtics-jayson-tatum-jaylen-brown-relationship">told Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated </a>. “He probably called a lot of people, but he called me as well. I don’t know if that gave him any confirmation, but I told him what I thought. I was like, ‘Let’s go.’”</blockquote><p>Tatum and Brown were friendly from various camps and basketball events, but the fit on the Celtics was not a guarantee. Tatum said they knew building chemistry was going to be paramount:</p><blockquote>“It wasn’t like meeting a stranger,” Tatum said. “We kind of understood early on that we were going to be relied upon heavily, even as young guys…We pushed each other.”</blockquote><p>While the two aren’t exactly the same people off the court, the mutual respect is apparent:</p><blockquote>“I’ve spent a lot of time with JT in the last two years,” Brown said. “I’ve gotten to know him very, very well. We have different interests. We respect our different interests…We respect each other’s differences. The Suns included Jackson <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grizzlies-news-memphis-trades-kyle-korver-jevon-carter-to-suns-for-deanthony-melton-josh-jackson-pair-of-2nd-round-picks/" rel="noopener noreferrer">in a salary dump</a> trade last July after two disappointing seasons that included repeated breaches of league and team conduct.</p><p>Jackson had spent most of his Memphis tenure playing for the franchise’s G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, before getting called up on Jan. 27 in the wake of Grayson Allen’s hip injury.</p><p>Jackson also played well in a loss to Sacramento, tallying 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists in 18 minutes. His two best showings may have come in defeat (and in garbage time), but early returns provide hope that he can help the young Grizzlies as they fight to hold the West’s No. 8 seed.
