Following a 122-95 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a team the Blazers beat on November 5, handing the defending champion its only loss of the season, Holiday revealed the luxury of having Lillard on his team.</p><p>For Jrue, it’s led to in-depth conversations, as Lillard, although inactive, still makes his presence felt, which, Holiday says, resonates throughout the team.</p><p>“We played in the Olympics together. I used to be with Adidas. So, we’ve done some stuff together with that,” Holiday tells ClutchPoints. “So, I’ve known him for a long time. Just his knowlege of the game, experiences that he’s been through, even what he’s passing onto me and the rest of the team as we’re playing even though he’s sidelined, has been invaluable.”</p><p>Amid Lillard’s season-long recovery from a torn Achilles tendon, Holiday and the Blazers’ win against the Thunder in early November, topped a 5-3 start to the regular season. Deni Avdija is leading the team in scoring with 25.1 points per game, Shaedon Sharpe (22.6 points per game) isn’t far behind, and Toumani Camara is building off his All-Defensive Team campaign last season.</p><p>“I think we’re having a great season,” Holiday said. “For just intentions and how we are as a team, and our characteristics has been great. So, if we can stay healthy and get healthy, we’ll be even better.”</p><p>Holiday, who was sidelined with a calf injury for Sunday’s game, will be re-evaluated in one to two weeks. Blazers’ Scoot Henderson, dealing with a hamstring injury, is expected to miss the next month, and Matisse Thybulle underwent surgery to repair a torn UCL in his left thumb. Jrue Holiday is among the Blazers listed on the NBA injury report, however. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/portland-trail-blazers/blazers-news-jrue-holiday-vintage-performance-crushed-lakers">Holiday is one of the better players on the Trail Blazers</a> and Portland would obviously love to have him on the floor. The veteran guard is <a href="https://ak-static.cms.nba.com/referee/injury/Injury-Report_2025-11-18_10AM.pdf" rel="noopener">currently listed as doubtful to play</a> due to right calf soreness.</p><p>Overall, Portland is 6-7 to begin the new campaign, sitting in ninth place in the Western Conference standings. The Blazers are not playing an incredibly impressive brand of basketball, but they look like a team that may be able to compete for an NBA Play-In Tournament position at the moment.</p><p>With that being said, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/houston-rockets/rockets-rumors-jeff-teague-predicts-jrue-holiday-trade-houston">Holiday could emerge as a trade candidate</a> closer to the deadline. Perhaps Portland will consider keeping him on the roster if the team is competitive this season. Either way, Holiday is still a reliable guard in the NBA.</p><p>The 35-year-old is averaging 16.7 points, 8.3 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals per outing in his first season with the Blazers. He is also finding the bottom of the net from the field 44.6 percent of the time and from beyond the arc 36.5 percent of the time.</p><p>The Trail Blazers are still a few years away from becoming a legitimate championship contender. Having a veteran such as Jrue Holiday to help the younger players should only help matters. As for Tuesday night’s matchup against the Suns, though, Holiday is unlikely to be available.</p><p>Tip-off is scheduled for 11 PM EST in Portland.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Ever since<a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-news-luka-doncic-insane-start-not-seen-rick-barry-side-story-nico-harrison-demise"> the infamous Luka Doncic trade,</a> Nico Harrison’s job with the Dallas Mavericks has been hanging in the balance. The trade, along with Harrison’s attitude throughout the entire saga, frustrated a lot of fans. Now, after the Mavericks started the 2025-26 season with a 3-8 record, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/dallas-mavericks/mavericks-news-players-7-word-admission-reveals-truth-fire-nico-chants-impact-team">Harrison was fired.</a></p><p>Harrison’s reputation as a general manager took a large hit after the Doncic trade. His talent evaluation, in particular, was questioned by the Mavericks. Harrison remained adamant that the trade was in Dallas’ favor, despite the obvious flaws in the deal. As it turns out, <a href="https://alldlls.com/nico-harrison-mavericks-fired-how-we-got-here" rel="noopener">this misvaluation of a trade was not a one-off.</a></p><p>“Some trades were surprisingly pricy for the returns; others that likely would’ve been mistakes, like how Harrison attempted to deal two first-rounders for Kyle Kuzma, went unpunished despite Harrison’s best efforts,” Tim Cato reports. “One team source recalls a document where Harrison placed Jrue Holiday within the same trade target tier as Nikola Jokić.”</p><p>The report goes on to mention that Harrison was oddly hard to reach until assistant general manager Matt Riccardi took some of that responsibility. Additionally, despite being part of the talent evaluation team at Nike (his former job), there were questions about the Mavericks ex-GM’s ability to build a cohesive team.</p><p>To give credit where credit’s due, Harrison made a few good moves during his tenure. The trade for PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford gave the Mavericks life in the 2023-24 season, helping propel them to the NBA Finals. However, it’s also worth pointing out that since then, it’s been revealed that Kuzma was also one of his main targets.</p><p>Trading Doncic at the 2024-25 trade deadline to the Los Angeles Lakers was seen as a grave mistake by most people. For one, Dallas basically just traded a top-five player in the league. That’s almost always going to be seen as a mistake. The Mavericks also got an aging and oft-injured Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and one first-round pick for their superstar, an underwhelming haul for a player of Doncic’s caliber.</p><p>Harrison has since rationalized the trade in many different ways, including attacking Doncic’s conditioning and his defense. Since then, though, the Mavericks have struggled mightily. The Mavs front office decided to stop prolonging the inevitable and fired the man behind perhaps the worst trade in NBA history.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He joined ClutchPoints in 2023.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-clippers/clippers-news-tyronn-lue-speaks-out-on-allegations-against-best-friend-chauncey-billups">Portland Trail Blazers organization is still recovering</a> from the shock that resulted from their head coach Chauncey Billups being arrested by the FBI for supposed activity in rigged poker games. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/portland-trail-blazers/blazers-news-chauncey-billups-basically-already-been-fired-without-being-fired">Billups was one of three</a> publicly revealed NBA figures to have been arrested as part of a wide-ranging investigation that included both the poker games as well as the illegal selling of information for NBA betting, a scandal that has rocked the league to its core.</p><p>Recently, newly acquired Blazers guard Jrue Holiday spoke on<a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/46775199/how-portland-trail-blazers-nba-grappling-chauncey-billups-stunning-downfall" rel="noopener"> his initial reaction</a> to the news.</p><p>“Honestly, we were shocked,” said Holiday, per Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.</p><p>Holiday also spoke on the respect he personally has for Billups, considering the way Billups helped get him to the Boston Celtics when Holiday was first traded to the Blazers from the Milwaukee Bucks back in 2023.</p><p>“Chauncey really did me a solid the first time I was traded here, just being able to see things through my lens and ask me what I wanted,” Holiday said. “Not many coaches would do that. But he understood because he was also a player in this league.”</p><p>“We talked all the time,” Holiday added. “A little bit of basketball.
