Towns has recorded six straight double-doubles and will look to keep momentum building on Tuesday night in Madison Square Garden against the Philadelphia 76ers.</p><p>Unfortunately for Towns, he was a late <a href="https://ak-static.cms.nba.com/referee/injury/Injury-Report_2025-04-01_12PM.pdf" rel="noopener">addition to the Knicks’ injury report</a> on Tuesday afternoon due to what the team is labeling as left knee soreness. As a result, the All-Star big man is questionable to play against the Sixers.</p><p>The Knicks have won four of their last five games, recently defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 110-93 on Sunday night. Towns finished this game with just 10 points and 11 rebounds in 32 minutes, his lowest points total since scoring only nine points against the Boston Celtics on Feb. 8 before the All-Star break.</p><p>While this was his worst performance in March, Towns overall put together an Eastern Conference Player of the Month resume.</p><p>In 14 total games, Towns averaged 23.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game while shooting 41.4 percent from three-point range. Although he recorded 10 double-doubles, the Knicks were just 8-6 in 14 games with Towns in March.</p><p>At 47-27 on the season, New York holds firm control of the 3-seed in the Eastern Conference. While a loss to the 76ers would raise some concerns before the playoffs, it would not damage their positioning in the East playoff race.</p><p>If Towns is forced to miss Tuesday night’s game against the Sixers, Mitchell Robinson would likely draw his second start of the season. Precious Achiuwa and Josh Hart would figure to see their frontcourt minutes increase as well.</p><p>The Knicks big man is joined by a few others on the team’s injury report ahead of Tuesday’s game. Brunson remains out as he continues to progress from his ankle injury, and the Knicks are also without backup guards Cam Payne and Miles McBride. As a result, Delon Wright will continue to serve as the team’s starting point guard next to OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges.</p><p>It is worth noting that the Knicks announced Tuesday morning that they have <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/knicks-news-ny-makes-final-pj-tucker-contract-decision">officially signed veteran PJ Tucker to a standard contract</a>, meaning he could potentially see some time at some point, especially if Towns is unable to play. She plays more similarly to the series’ roots, as she’ll assassinate enemies using stealth tactics. “She has so many tools at her disposal, it’s just so fun to have two playstyles.”</p><p>Furthermore, Towns also spoke about the game’s setting, which takes place in Japan. “Being in Japan is something that is hard to explain in words, it needs to be experienced first hand. But Assassins Creed got close with it. I think this game captures it pretty well.”</p><p>Lastly, he spoke about his favorite weapon in the game. “My favorite was definitely the katana. Brunson is one of the best point guards in the association, and he leaves such a huge playmaking and shot-creation void with his absence. Nonetheless, on Tuesday night, in a 128-113 win over the Dallas Mavericks, Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart decided to fill the stat sheet and make Knicks fans forget about Brunson’s absence, at least for a short while.</p><p>Towns put up a monster stat line of 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, and Hart was not to be outdone, as he kept in step with the Knicks star in the stat-sheet stuffing department by tallying 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists of his own. And in so doing, Towns and Hart became the first pair of teammates in Knicks history to record a triple-double, <a href="https://x.com/ClutchPoints/status/1904709947130081293" rel="noopener">as noted</a> by the official ClutchPoints account on X (formerly Twitter).</p><p>Towns and Hart both have had excellent seasons, thriving in the Big Apple despite the heavy workload they get on a nightly basis from head coach Tom Thibodeau. The Knicks have gotten Towns back to being at his best at the center position, with the 29-year-old star averaging 24.5 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists on the year, while Hart has taken his glue-guy contributions to the next level, putting up 13.9 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per contest.</p><p>The entire Knicks team was simply firing on all cylinders on Tuesday; in addition to Towns and Hart’s incredible nights, OG Anunoby also had himself a ballgame, scoring 35 points to lead all scorers. Midway through the second quarter, it appeared like it was about to get worse.</p><p>With the Knicks trailing 52-33, Towns attempted a jump hook. Draymond Green then alleged that KAT did not play because he <a href="https://www.si.com/nba/draymond-green-response-false-accusation-karl-anthony-towns" rel="noopener">was ducking</a> Warriors star, Jimmy Butler.</p><p>The Knicks center’s fear of his former Minnesota teammate has been well-documented. KAT’s panic was on full display earlier this season <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/knicks-news-karl-anthony-towns-stat-line-patrick-ewing-memories">when he dropped 44 points and 13 rebounds on the Miami Heat</a> with Jimmy Butler. The comments, unfortunately, reflect a culture inside and outside the NBA media predicated on a lack of basic human empathy.</p><p>Too many people like Draymond Green desperately try to get any publicity they can, where it doesn’t matter how low they have to go to get it. And these kinds of personalities do not have the strength to admit when they are in the wrong. They believe admitting one’s fault looks weak when it’s completely the other way around. It’s sad, and the media needs to stop emboldening this kind of behavior. It’s never been hard to give a basic apology that doesn’t come off to the greater public as concerningly insensitive.</p><p>Anyways, Draymond did not take accountability for his comments as he scraped for more attention. And that’s it. KAT clearly wants to move on from this situation. There was no need for ESPN to try to bring it up to him mid-game, especially as he is definitely still in the process of grieving this loss. In addition, no one would have put it past the entire Knicks team to head straight to the locker room after the game with Towns to show solidarity with him.</p><p>Overall, moving on from the drama in the Bay Area, New York will gear its focus on the tail end of its schedule. He then forced a deflection on a side out of bounds, setting Green up for his game-sealing layup. Green praised Moody’s leap in his postgame press conference.</p><p>“I think [Moody’s] attention to detail is way greater than what it was,” Green said. “I heard him say one of the most mature things: ‘I could have developed in college, I chose to develop in the NBA. The post was a deft move by Towns, if you want to look perhaps-too-deeply into it, demonstrating support for his teammate without broaching the hot-button topic of minute distribution.</p><h2><b>Mikal Bridges’ aggression could help the Knicks in several ways</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Mikal-Bridges-game-winner-Knicks.jpg"><figcaption>Soobum Im-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Thanks to the extra period, Bridges played 41 minutes despite ostensible efforts from Thibodeau to reduce his workload throughout regulation. But the minutes didn’t seem to take any sort of toll on Bridges on Wednesday night.</p><p>He backed up <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/03/12/sports/why-mikal-bridges-asked-tom-thibodeau-to-play-knicks-starters-less/" rel="noopener">his incendiary pre-game comments</a> with a 33-point, 4-rebound, 4-assist performance. He shot 13-21 from the floor, sinking two of his four tries from downtown. But most notably, Bridges made five of his six free throws. The conversion rate isn’t what matters here. It’s the six attempts that stand out.</p><p>Excluding preseason play, Bridges did not attempt six or more free throws in a game until late December. Wednesday night’s trips to the charity stripe made for his third such game this season. The second came just a week ago in a road loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.</p><p>After Wednesday night’s overtime action, Bridges is on pace to attempt 101 total free throws this season. That would be the least he’s attempted over the course of a full season in his career. And that includes the two seasons shortened by COVID-19. The versatile wing’s tendency to pull up for mid-range jumpers instead of initiating contact at the rim <a href="https://x.com/DJAceNBA/status/1808159936939016218" rel="noopener">is, and has been, well documented</a>.</p><p>If Bridges is willing to drive hard to the rim and draw more fouls, it increases the threat of his pull-up jumpers. Predictability is an easy way to get schemed out of games. And perhaps Bridges’ issue with Thibodeau could result in a couple extra minutes of rest each night. Could that be what makes him feel more comfortable exerting himself on drives?</p><p>Bridges continuing to lean into his length and strength around the hoop is key for the Knicks, especially with Brunson sidelined.
