They didn’t mess around with the punishments issued.</p><p>Killian Hayes <a href="https://twitter.com/TimBontemps/status/1608654834860982272" rel="noopener">drew the most severe</a> penalty with a three-game suspension while Moe Wagner was slapped with a two-game suspension. Alongside them, nine other players were suspended for one game due to their peripheral involvement.</p><p>Pistons wing Hamidou Diallo, who was the third man ejected from Wednesday’s contest, drew a suspension after he shoved Wagner from behind. With a huge emphasis on flagrant fouls in today’s NBA, it’s expected that heated altercations that escalate such as the one between Killian Hayes and Moe Wagner draw an instant response from the league.</p><p>The Magic will feel the brunt of the punishment as several of their top players in Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter Jr., and Cole Anthony will all presumably miss their next game against the Washington Wizards on Friday.</p><p>The Pistons are already shorthanded in the backcourt without lead guard Cade Cunningham. Losing starter Hayes and backup Diallo further depletes their roster. But with Detroit in the driver’s seat in the race to the bottom for Victor Wembanyama, it might not be a huge concern.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Moe Wagner was assessed a flagrant two foul and ejected as was Hayes and Pistons wing Hamidou Diallo. While the NBA will no doubt hand down punishments, after the game, Moe’s brother and teammate Franz Wagner <a href="https://twitter.com/BallyMagic/status/1608301489335996416?s=20&amp;t=bKwozVUkRG-xnMW9GC5QqQ" rel="noopener">implored</a> the NBA to consider everything when making a final decision.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">Franz Wagner said he has gotten a chance to speak with his brother Moe.</p><p>"He's doing alright. Per NBA policy, leaving the bench during an altercation has resulted in an automatic suspension. But Franz remarked that this was no ordinary situation regarding potential altercations.</p><p>“Normally something like that happens on the court and not in front of one of the other benches,” Franz Wagner said. “I think that’s part of our worry as teammates is that you don’t want your teammate alone amongst the whole other team.”</p><p>Coming into the game, Franz Wagner had been putting up 19.7 points per game, 4.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists while Moe Wagner was putting up 12.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Markelle was in there trying to help Moe Wagner out, so it was my responsibility to get our players away from the problem…”</i></p><p>Moe Wagner, Killian Hayes, and Hamidou Diallo were all thrown out of the game after that heated moment, and suspensions could be handed down by the NBA after further review. Hayes might get the harshest penalty, considering his blindside hit on Wagner isn’t even legal in a boxing or mixed-martial arts fight.</p><p>The Pistons ended up winning the game, 121-110, with Alec Burks and Saddiq Bey leading the way with 32 and 28 points, respectively. Hayes had five points and three assists in 16 minutes. As for the Magic, Wagner recorded seven points and four rebounds with an assist in 13 minutes as his team’s starting center.</p><p>The Magic, who dropped to 13-23 after the loss to Detroit, will have a one-day rest Thursday before getting back on the court on Friday when they get back home to face the Washington Wizards.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

Of course the young playmaker didn’t like it and quickly retaliated, punching the Magic forward at the back of his head while the Detroit bench confronted him.</p><p>Wagner appeared to get knocked out from the punch as he fell to the seats. Players from both teams started to pile up in the area of the incident, though it fortunately didn’t escalate further.</p><p>Both Hayes and Wagner were ejected, with the former getting a tech and the latter slapped with a Flagrant 2. The Pistons guard retaliated at the Magic big man with a solid punch at the back of his head that clearly rocked him. Diallo was deemed an “instigator” during the said altercation.</p><p>Moe Wagner had started the last 14 games for the Magic in place of the previously injured Wendell Carter Jr. WCJ has since returned and played in a few games off the bench. Perhaps this incident would be convenient timing to reinsert their opening night center back into the starting lineup.</p><p>It’s a similar story for Killian Hayes. He has started the last 24 games for the Pistons after beginning the season off the bench. With a season-ending injury to lead guard Cade Cunningham, that opened the door for Hayes to take on a larger role, and he has taken advantage of the opportunity.</p><p>It’s likely that both Killian Hayes and Moe Wagner will incur punishments from the NBA once the league reviews the incident. Both teams will have to play with men down in a game that could potentially have implications in the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes later on in the season.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
