However, some ‘expect’ the team to make a move to <a href="https://x.com/SbondyNBA/status/1966522723028324858" rel="noopener">clear space for both players</a>, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Post.</p><p>Shamet and Brogdon both had opportunities to sign with other teams but elected to sign non-guaranteed contracts with the Knicks, sources familiar with the situation told ClutchPoints. This could indicate confidence from both players that they will make the 2026 roster.</p><p>If New York does make a trade, one of their four rookies drafted in 2024 could be on the move. The Knicks have received at least one offer for one of their second-year players this week, league sources told ClutchPoints. The expectation of several league sources is that the organization will trade a player for draft capital to clear a roster spot.</p><p>Jalen Brunson, Miles ‘Deuce’ McBride, and new additions in Jordan Clarkson and Brogdon would give the team depth at guard. This could logjam incoming second-year guard Tyler Kolek behind the group of veteran ball handlers. Moving Kolek could afford the 24-year-old opportunity that he would not get in New York. At least one opposing team has demonstrated interest in Kolek this offseason, ClutchPoints also learned.</p><p>Leon Rose’s front office entered 2024-25 knowing that <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/knicks-process-replace-tom-thibodeau-shouldnt-confuse-fans">the Knicks’ true championship window</a> would open in the 2025-26 season. With Jalen Brunson leading the way, New York finished a couple wins short of the NBA Finals. The Knicks made big moves in the offseason, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/knicks-news-mike-brown-next-head-coach-tom-thibodeau-firing">bringing in Mike Brown as their new head coach</a> and free agent forward Guerschon Yabusele. Now, Landry Shamet is back with the team on a new deal.</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/how-knicks-landry-shamet-boost-mikal-bridges-wing-rotation">Shamet became a key piece of the Knicks’ depth</a> as the season went on. In the playoffs, he was utilized as a shooter and showed some flashes against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. However, he entered the offseason as a free agent that New York did not prioritize. The Knicks made other moves before coming to the negotiation table with one of their role players.</p><p>While New York had more important things to address, adding more depth to the roster was a must. Luckily for the Knicks front office, the team did not lose any major pieces and added a few players who could help them take advantage of a wide-open Eastern Conference. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Shamet is back with the team <a href="https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/1966223380472017205" rel="noopener">on a one-year deal</a>.</p><p>“Free agent guard Landry Shamet has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the New York Knicks, his agent George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group tells ESPN. Shamet stays with the Knicks for his 8th NBA season,” Sharania said.</p><p>With Brown at the helm, Shamet became a much more important piece to bring back on the team. <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/knicks-starters-on-pace-for-bad-history-under-tom-thibodeau">Brunson and the rest of the starters played the lion’s share of the minutes</a> in the postseason. That came back to haunt them against the Pacers. Thus, he became a photographer at the US Open.</p><p>The Associated Press’ Brian Mahoney reported that the former Knicks sniper was snapping pictures for the United States Tennis Association (USTA). What started as a hobby <a href="https://apnews.com/article/us-open-landry-shamet-knicks-photos-8645f9d416d11e29f679bd533adbe540?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=share" rel="noopener">has become a passion</a> for Shamet.</p><p>“I think since I picked the camera up I don’t really foresee a day where I put it down. Even when we go on the road, I always have a camera with me. So whether it’s just like a hobby, walking around, shooting stuff that I like to maybe print out and put on the wall in my house, or doing things like this, it’ll always be there,” said Shamet.</p><p>He was present at Arthur Ashe Stadium to capture the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/golf/us-open-news-carlos-alcaraz-new-look-rory-mcilroy-verdict">title-clinching performances of Carlos Alcaraz</a> and Aryna Sabalenka. As an athlete as well, Shamet knows how important it is to chronicle career milestones.</p><p>“It was Shamet’s second year with an unpaid position with the USTA. In 2024, he was on the grounds during the first week of the tournament. This time, he performed well enough that he was asked to come on the final weekend,” reported Mahoney.</p><p>Shamet played 50 games with the Knicks last season, averaging 5.7 points on a career-high 46.7% shooting in 15.2 minutes off the bench. He had his fair share of moments in the playoffs, particularly in the conference finals against the Indiana Pacers.</p><p>If he’s still a free agent when the new season begins next month, perhaps he could still be at Madison Square Garden—taking pictures of his former teammates.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
