He has been active in the rotation as one of the team’s best shooters with his ability to space the floor with a remarkable 3-point shot.</p><p>However, the veteran guard sustained an injury against Orlando. It took place three minutes into the first quarter, appearing to dislocate his shoulder. Head coach Mike Brown <a href="https://x.com/Krisplashed/status/1992399487319581101" rel="noopener">gave an update</a> on Shamet after the game, saying he will get a full evaluation soon, per reporter Kristian Winfield.</p><p>“Mike Brown says Landry Shamet is going to get a full evaluation in the next couple days. Following his absence, they lost 133-121 to the Magic.</p><p>New York competed with Orlando throughout the first half, even leading 66-64 at halftime. However, their defense regressed in the last 24 minutes of regulation, losing 69-55 in that stretch.</p><p>Turnovers and inside scoring made the difference in this matchup. The Magic prevailed in both categories by limiting their turnovers to 14 while scoring 64 points inside the paint. It wasn’t the same for the Knicks as they turned the ball over 17 times while getting 48 points inside the paint.</p><p>Five players scored in double-digits for New York in the loss. Jalen Brunson led the way with 33 points, 11 assists and three rebounds. He shot 12-of-21 from the field, including 3-of-9 from beyond the arc, and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Karl-Anthony Towns came next with 24 points and eight rebounds, Mikal Bridges had 18 points and seven rebounds, Jordan Clarkson put up 15 points and five assists, while Josh Hart provided 12 points and five rebounds.</p><p>New York fell to a 9-6 record on the season, holding the fifth spot of the Eastern Conference standings. They are 0.5 games behind the Miami Heat and one game behind the Cleveland Cavaliers.</p><p>The Knicks will look to bounce back in their next matchup, remaining on the road. He also added three assists and two rebounds over 37 minutes, his fourth 30-point game in an eight-year NBA career. Shamet recorded 30 of those points in the second half, carrying New York when the Heat tried to mount a comeback. Colin is also a three-time NYSBA award winner and a proud graduate of Fordham University.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">NBA</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/knicks-news-karl-anthony-towns-loss-bucks">New York Knicks moved to 2-2 with their 121-111 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks</a> on Tuesday night, and head coach Mike Brown was more than happy to explain why Landry Shamet was in the team’s starting lineup for the contest.</p><p>According to Brown, <a href="https://x.com/Krisplashed/status/1983369230251946397" rel="noopener">the decision</a> was motivated by how the 28-year-old has played this season as well as his ability to make three-pointers at a high clip.</p><p>“Landry’s been really good defensively, plays with pace, sticks his nose in, will try to rebound, and when he gets a rhythm…,” Brown told Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News, “if you leave him open, he’s gonna knock down shots.”</p><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/landry-shamet-returning-to-knicks-on-1-year-deal">Shamet, who signed a one-year deal to return to the Knicks</a> in September, provided 16 points while shooting 5-for-11 from the field and 4-for-9 from distance.</p><p>The Knicks <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/10/28/sports/giannis-antetokounmpo-outplays-karl-anthony-towns-as-knicks-fall-to-bucks/" rel="noopener">struggled to contain</a> Bucks All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who collected a game-high 37 points on a 16-for-22 night from the field.</p><p>“Yeah, oh man, he’s a monster,” Brown told Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.</p><p>New York center Karl-Anthony Towns was not particularly effective. He shot 2-for-12 from the field and only posted eight points. The 29-year-old is still adjusting to Brown’s system and attempting to gain a better understanding of how he can impact the offense.</p><p>“I got a new role. I’ve got to embrace that and I didn’t do that for 48 minutes tonight. And it hurts,” Towns said. “It’s going to be a tough car ride [to Chicago for the next game Friday]. It’s going to be a tough two days to live with that.”</p><p>Knicks captain Jalen Brunson dropped 36 points in the losing effort and made it clear that he is not concerned about Towns.</p><p>“I talk to [Towns], we talk and it’s a process for all of us,” Brunson said. “There are gonna be times when things aren’t going one of our ways and it’s on us as teammates to have his back.</p><p>“But at some point, all of us go through a lull in the season. I don’t even want to call it a lull. It’s just we’re still learning and everything is brand new for us. We’re not gonna use that excuse for a long time. But these first couple weeks, it’s still fresh for us.”</p><p>Shamet, Towns, Brunson, and the rest of the Knicks will attempt to turn the page when they face the Chicago Bulls on Friday night.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

With <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/knicks-rumors-insider-makes-trade-prediction-malcolm-brogdon-landry-shamet-dilemma">Brogdon and Shamet on non-guaranteed deals</a> and one open spot on the Knicks’ roster, trading away one player under contract is the only way to clear a path for New York to sign both veterans.</p><p>ClutchPoints’ Kris Pursiainen reported earlier in September that both <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/new-york-knicks/sources-knicks-malcolm-brogdon-landry-shamet-roster-crunch">Brogdon and Shamet elected to sign non-guaranteed deals</a> with New York over other offers in free agency, indicating confidence that space would be made for them on the team.</p><p>Knicks head coach Mike Brown wouldn’t confirm or deny the team’s plans for Brogdon and Shamet, but the belief around training camp is that <a href="https://twitter.com/sny_knicks/status/1970938967261340156" rel="noopener">both guards will end up making the roster</a> ahead of Opening Night, per SNY’s Ian Begley.</p><p>“No one’s ahead of anyone yet. That’s what Mike Brown said after a Knicks practice here in Westchester when he was asked about the one roster spot the Knicks have available, and the veterans on non-guaranteed deals that they have on the roster here,” Begley said. “Malcolm Brogdon, Landry Shamet, both signing non-guaranteed, veteran’s minimum deals.
