He is entering his eighth season in the NBA and could do it as a member of the Warriors.</p><p>“I’m appreciative of the opportunity, and I’m looking forward to camp,” Galloway tells ClutchPoints.</p><p>Last season, Galloway played with Chris Paul and the Western Conference champion Phoenix Suns. Galloway produced 4.8 points per game while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 42.4 percent from deep. When attempting corner 3-pointers for his career, he is a 44.2 percent shooter, <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/gallola01.html" rel="noopener">according to Basketball Reference.</a></p><p>The Warriors are a team built on shooting, so adding Galloway to the equation fits what they like to do. You can never have enough shooters in today’s game. He’s not a volume shooter, so it makes it easy for him to fit in any system.</p><p>Galloway is also known as a good locker room guy. When you’re a championship contender, players like that are needed. The last thing you want is to bring on a player who will be frustrated about individual chances.</p><p>Galloway is one of those guys who will always put the team’s needs first. If he’s asked to sit out a game, he’s cheering his teammates on with a huge smile. If you need him to play extended minutes, he’s always in great shape and ready.</p><p>A player like Galloway can aid the Warriors on and off the court. He can be a glue piece that helps them get back to the playoffs, where the Dubs hope to make a run at winning another championship.</p><p>There will be an open competition in training camp for the 15th roster spot.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

On Monday, the Suns agreed to a deal with guard Langston Galloway, according to <a href="https://twitter.com/MikeAScotto/status/1330986641608073222">Mike Scotto of HoopsHype and USA Today</a>.</p><p>Before coming to the Suns, Galloway had the finest season of his career with the Detroit Pistons in 2019-20. The 29-year old averaged 10.3 points per game — his highest since his rookie year (2014-15) with the New York Knicks — and shot a career-best 39.9% on nearly five three-point attempts per game.</p><p>After spending his first two seasons in New York, Galloway had brief stints with the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings before three solid seasons in Detroit. Now he’s with the Suns.</p><p>Details of Galloway’s deal have yet to be reported. On Saturday, the Suns committed their full mid-level exception to <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/suns-news-jae-crowder-agrees-to-3-year-deal-with-phoenix/">sign Jae Crowder</a> (three years, about $30 million). On Sunday, the Suns signed guard E’Twaun Moore for one year and $2.4 million.</p><p>Signing Galloway is another step the Suns have taken to improve their roster.</p><blockquote>“Langston is a pro’s pro,” Pistons head coach Dwayne Casey <a href="https://www.nba.com/pistons/features/pros-pro-galloways-place-pistons-universe-firm-ground">said about Galloway, via NBA.com</a>. “He’s one of our leaders. He’ll go and quietly talk to the young guys and tell them what they’re doing wrong. It is much too early to label them as this year’s iteration of the 2018-19 Celtics, though the red, white, and blue need to string together some wins in order to advance their way up the standings.</p><p>Though unfortunately, the 76ers will be without their superstar center, Joel Embiid, for the foreseeable future as he recently <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/76ers/sixers-joel-embiid-injury-update-successful-surgery-torn-ligament-finger" rel="noopener noreferrer">underwent surgery</a> in order to repair a torn ligament on his left hand.</p><p>Due to Embiid’s extended absence, and the Sixers’ non-ideal position in the Eastern Conference standings (25-14, fifth place), trade rumors surrounding the franchise have been circulating as of late. Saturday afternoon, <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/sports/philadelphia-sixers-zhaire-smith-luke-kennard-langston-galloway-jeff-green-20200111.html">Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer</a> reported that Philly <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-trade-rumors-sixers-have-interest-in-luke-kennard-langston-galloway-jeff-green/">has their eye on</a> Detroit Pistons guard Langston Galloway.</p><p>Galloway, the six-year NBA veteran, and former college hoops star at Saint Joseph’s is enjoying undoubtedly his most impactful stint as a pro. The 28-year-old has proven that he belongs in this league, he has carved out a role for himself as a reliable scoring punch off the pine, averaging 10.7 points per game this season on career-best shooting splits (43.4% from the field and 39.9% from deep).</p><p>Philadelphia is in dire need of shooting to complement their lengthy, defensive-minded core, something which Galloway can provide in spades. The 76ers rank 25th in 3-point attempts per game and 21st in triples made. While they admittedly shoot a solid percentage from beyond the arc as a unit (36.3), it is mildly concerning for a squad with legitimate title aspirations to rank among the NBA’s worst in terms of 3’s made.</p><p>Galloway’s presence as a spot-up shooter could help the 76ers in fixing arguably their most glaring weakness, he could serve a role similar to that of J.J. Reddick, who spent two seasons as a Sixer from 2017-19. He moves well without the ball, and he is used to running through picks in order to catch the ball in rhythm for an open look. Galloway does not need the rock in order to get a bucket, a valuable skill needed to succeed as a scorer on this roster considering how many touches are given to Embiid and Simmons.</p><p>In order to achieve their ultimate goal of winning a championship, the 76ers need to knock down the 3-pointer with more consistency. If recent title-winners such as the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors have proven anything, it is that the 3-point shot is vital to winning at a high level in the modern NBA. The Sixers also have interest in signing Jeff Green, who was waived by the Utah Jazz, according to <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/sports/philadelphia-sixers-zhaire-smith-luke-kennard-langston-galloway-jeff-green-20200111.html?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar">Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer:</a></p><blockquote>Could Langston Galloway come back to Philadelphia for play for the 76ers? What about Galloway’s Detroit Pistons teammate Luke Kennard or NBA free agent Jeff Green. Add those names to the list of wing players the Sixers have expressed interest in acquiring in a trade and/or free agent signees, according to multiple league sources.One source confirmed that Green worked for the Sixers in Miami while the team was there to face the Heat a couple of weeks ago. League sources believe any Sixers’ trade deal will almost certainly include the team parting ways with second-year guard Zhaire Smith.</blockquote><p>The Sixers will be in the market for “perimeter shooting threats with playmaking ability,” according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/28419048/sixers-joel-embiid-admits-losing-streak-taking-toll-me" rel="noopener noreferrer">Tim MacMahon of ESPN</a>. Philly might be more aggressive in its trade talks now that it looks like center Joel Embiid is going to be out for the foreseeable future.</p><p>Embiid underwent successful surgery on his left hand on Friday. He had a torn radial collateral ligament in the fourth metacarpal in his left hand. The Sixers star suffered the injury on Monday against the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/oklahoma-city-thunder/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Oklahoma City Thunder</a>.</p><p>The Sixers are 25-14 on the season. They are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.</p><p>Galloway and Kennard are really good 3-point shooters, although Kennard is currently out with a knee injury. Both Galloway and Kennard are shooting 39.9 percent from beyond the arc this season.</p><p>Green, meanwhile, is a do-it-all swingman who would give the Sixers another ball-handler and playmaker from the wing position. Edwards III of The Athletic</a>.</p><p>Galloway is making $7.3 million this season and becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer. He’s been shooting the ball well for the Pistons, who could tear the roster down if they don’t start stringing wins together before the February trade deadline:</p><blockquote>Aside from Galloway’s production this season, he also has an expiring contract, which is valuable. According to one league source, there is a top team in the Eastern Conference that is potentially interested in Galloway’s services. If the Pistons remain in the playoff hunt and remain adamant on chasing one of the final seeds, Galloway seems unlikely to go anywhere before the deadline — though a late first-round pick might be too enticing. However, if the Pistons pivot, Galloway could still be traded for an asset.</blockquote><p>In 27 games this season for the Pistons, Galloway is averaging 11.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He’s shooting 44.2 percent from the field, 42.2 percent from beyond the arc and 90.4 percent from the free-throw line.</p><p>The Pistons are 11-16 on the season. They are in the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
