Kawhi Leonard and Paul George led the way, but Lou Williams was a key piece on Doc Rivers’ team. However, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/los-angeles-clippers/clippers-news-lou-williams-shocking-nba-bubble-admission-has-fans-mocking-la">Williams turned heads around the league when news broke that he allegedly snuck out</a>. The rumors said that the Clippers guard went to Magic City, a strip club in Atlanta.</p><p>Even years later, the story of what may or may not have happened has followed Williams. Fans have accused him of giving up on the team and letting Rivers down when he was needed. On Thursday’s episode of <i>Gil’s Arena, </i>the former Sixth Man of the Year, shared the story from his perspective, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJFnEMr3cDA&amp;t=43s" rel="noopener">denying the rumors</a> that he snuck out of the bubble.</p><p>“But I want to put this to bed. I didn’t sneak out of the bubble to go to Magic City,” Williams said. “That’s not what happened., They excused me from the bubble to go to a funeral. Doctor is traveling with me. The funeral home was a block away from Magic(City). I’ve been staying in a hotel, eating hotel room, service food. Magic got good food.”</p><p>Williams has shared his side of the story multiple times throughout the years. However, fans only remember what happened as a result of his absence. Rivers led his team through the bubble well, enough, but got upset by the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs.</p><p>For a team heavily favored to make a deep run, the Clippers’ early exit set the tone for how the following seasons would go. The pairing of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George was big for Los Angeles. Instead of winning championships, the Clippers got as far as the Western Conference finals before <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/philadelphia-76ers/76ers-news-paul-george-breaks-silence-on-joining-philly">George left Los Angeles</a>.</p><p>Williams’ decision to leave the bubble to attend a funeral was one of many stories that came from the bubble. With that in mind, former NBA player Lou Williams is pointing the finger <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/oklahoma-city-thunder/thunder-news-shai-gilgeous-alexander-goes-allen-iverson-nba-finals-debut">at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder’s superstar guard</a> and the reigning MVP of the league.</p><p>“I gotta give this one to SGA. I thought the ball got sticky last night. I thought he tried to work with the nerves and work some off of the anxiety that he was having for this game. I thought he tried to shoot himself into this game. He probably shot them out of it,” Williams said on FanDuel’s ‘Run It Back’ on Friday.</p><p>“I think he was very aggressive — you had, what, 10 attempts in the first quarter, right? Not necessarily uncharacteristic of him, but this is a team that’s had success in their ball movement, the ball moving back and forth, side to side, everybody touching the ball. And they would turn good shots into great shots. I thought last night they played in a lot of traffic, and it started at the top. It started with SGA. No other player in Thursday’s game shot more than 19 times.</p><p>The ultra-aggressiveness that Williams said backfired actually worked well in the first half; the Thunder led by 12 at halftime after wreaking havoc on the Pacers’ offense <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/oklahoma-city-thunder/thunder-news-okc-sets-new-nba-finals-record-suffocating-defense-vs-pacers">by forcing 19 turnovers in the first 24 minutes</a>. The win was so profound that it spurred an apology from Lou Williams, a former NBA player turned media personality.</p><p>Throughout the season and even during the playoffs, Williams called the Pacers a boring team. To him, they didn’t have any players capable of making big plays when the team needed them most. For Westbrook, the start of his triple-double entourage came because of Kevin Durant leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder.</p><p>He had to put the team on his back, offensively and defensively. Even when Paul George and Carmelo Anthony arrived in town, Westbrook kept that dominant streak.</p><p>No one has seen anything like it.</p><p>Meanwhile, the same can be said for Jokic. The Nuggets MVP has had one of the best careers to date. During those MVP seasons, his <a href="https://www.theringer.com/2024/11/14/nba/nikola-jokic-denver-nuggets-rebounds-assists-points" rel="noopener">on and off numbers</a> are among the best in NBA history.</p><p>Just because the numbers aren’t eye-popping doesn’t negate the impact of either player.</p><h2><b>Lou Williams sees Nikola Jokic and Russell Westbrook similarities</b></h2><p>Although Westbrook made history with triple-doubles, Jokic could possibly join him. It’s rare for this type of feat to be achieved or even broken.</p><p>Still, both guys are on the same team, and likely trying to do the same thing. While Westbrook is towards the end of his career, Jokic seems to be entering his prime.</p><p>However, both players have different play styles, but are just as effective.</p><p>For instance, Westbrook’s athleticism is unmatched. He’s arguably one of the most explosive athletes the league has ever seen. Not to mention, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nuggets-news-russell-westbrook-nsfw-playoff-role">Westbrook gave an NSFW answer for his role with the Nuggets</a>.</p><p>Meanwhile, Jokic is the offensive engine. Teams gravitate to him because of his scoring and playmaking ability. Still, it feels that no matter what teams do, he dominates.</p><p>For example, the Serbian big man dropped 42 points and 22 rebounds in Denver’s Game 1 121-119 win over the Thunder on Monday. Considering they were the No. 1 seed, that is beyond impressive.</p><p>It also seemed to be like a B-game from Jokic. He did whatever he wanted and nobody could do anything to stop it.</p><p>Either way, Williams hopes people have the hesitancy for Jokic like they did for Westbrook. However, considering that Jokic has an NBA title, Finals MVP and other accolades to his name already, it likely won’t happen.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>
