That’s the first thing they said to me, ‘We wanna build culture the right way here, you’re a culture guy, we brought you in here to help us do that.’ In my mind, I’m thinking “Alright, I wanna see you guys do your part,’ and they are, they’re doing their part,” Brogdon said. “And that might not be a 50-win, 60-win season right now, you know.”</p><p>Brogdon praised the organization for investing in player development. However, the 2016 second-round pick admitted that he may not be with the Wizards long-term.</p><p>“That’s something they’re trying to get to pay off, this is a long-term process. That’s three, four, five years down the road, we want the habits we’re building today and the money we’re spending today to pay off at that point,” he continued. “I might not even be here to see it but my job is to make sure we’re taking steps this year to plant those seeds.”</p><p>The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/celtics-news-malcolm-brogdon-wins-sixth-man-of-the-year-award">2023 NBA Sixth Man of the Year</a> is in the last year of his contract, so he could get traded in-season or walk to a playoff contender in free agency. However, he’ll enjoy his time in the nation’s capital for as long as he can.</p><h2><b>Malcolm Brogdon always wanted to play with the Wizards</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Wizards-Malcolm-Brogdon.jpg"><figcaption>© Geoff Burke-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p>Players don’t always get traded to places they have built-in connections to. Brogdon, <a href="https://twitter.com/chasedcsports/status/1840919100941615536" rel="noopener">though, got lucky,</a> via Monumental Sports Network’s Chase Hughes.</p><p>“I feel like I’m coming back home. I’ve always had extended family in DC that I visited growing up, ended up coming to school here, an hour and a half down the road,” he said. “My wife is from Northern Virginia, so man, this is like a full-circle moment for me to be able to play for the Wizards. It’s a team I’ve always wanted to put the jersey on for. I’m super excited to be here.”</p><p>Brogdon had a prolific career on the Virginia Cavaliers from 2011-16. The two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year earned numerous honors, including ACC Player of the Year (2016), consensus first-team All-American (2016), Naismith award finalist (2016), and three first-team All-ACC selections. The university retired his No. 15 jersey on February 20, 2017.</p><p>With the DMV area playing such an important role in Brogdon’s life, it makes sense why he’s invested in helping a young team in the early stages of a rebuild. However, the 6-foot-4, 229-pounder is still just as valuable on the court as he is in the locker room.</p><p>Brogdon instantly upgrades Washington’s perimeter defense and shooting, as he’s only a year removed from shooting a career-high 44.4% from deep on the Boston Celtics. Players like Bilal Coulibaly, Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington, and Kyshawn George will all benefit from playing with a reliable “three and D” veteran.</p><p>Whether Brogdon stays for half the season, the whole season, or even re-signs, he has the chance to pay it forward to a city he has a soft spot for.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

When he's not telling the stories of your favorite sports team, Peter can be found recording the next garage rock classic in his basement studio, whipping up an authentic Italian meal in the kitchen, or trying to figure out the appeal of Minecraft with his 9-year-old son in the living room.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Mini-Editorials</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p>Just hours ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/blazers-trade-key-vet-and-lottery-pick-to-wizards-ahead-of-nba-draft">traded a piece</a> that many expected to be dealt this offseason, sending veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon along with the 14th pick in Wednesday’s draft to the Washington Wizards for forward Deni Avdija.</p><p>The Blazers also sent the second most favorable of their three 2029 first-round picks along with two second-round picks as part of the deal as well.</p><p>Brogdon, a former Rookie of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year award winner, didn’t have a place on a Blazers squad that is looking to rebuild with young pieces. With Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe needing to play development minutes and Anfernee Simons the best scorer on the team, Brogdon was the odd man out.</p><p>With Brogdon off to Washington, the Blazers land an emerging small forward in Deni Avdija. The no. 9 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the 23-year-old Avdija had a breakout season last year for the Wizards. He put up 14.7 points and 7.2 rebounds a night in 75 games played.</p><p>The Blazers sincerely needed an upgrade on the wing and have found it – to a degree – with Avdija, who is a solid defender, rebounder, and passer that can assist with help-side playmaking. Avdija has also begun to show a legitimate 3-point stroke last season. The career 32 percent 3-point shooter shot better than 37 percent from the arc in 2023-24.</p><p>The Blazers are clearly banking on Avdija’s upside at a position of need. He’s an affordable long-term option that is locked up through 2028 on a declining 4-year/$55 million deal. That price, and the fact that he has already demonstrated in his age-23 season greater contribution than they’re likely to get from the no. 14 pick on Wednesday, makes the trade a worthwhile swing for the Blazers.</p><p>While trading a player of Brogdon’s caliber along with a pair of first rounders and a pair of second rounders seems like a steep price – and it is – if Avdija takes another step this season like he did last year, Portland has found their wing of the future.</p><h2><b>Blazers’ trade of Brogdon the first domino to fall?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Jerami-Grant.jpg"><figcaption>© Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports</figcaption></figure><p>The move also makes financial sense for the Blazers as they’ll gain some much-needed flexibility. Portland went into the offseason over the $178.7 million first apron, making it difficult to make any moves. They are now $4.2 million below the luxury tax by moving off Malcolm Brogdon’s $22.5 million and the no. 14 overall pick.</p><p>Perhaps the reason Portland was willing to give up so much in the deal was in fact this financial flexibility. This makes it much easier to trade Jerami Grant this offseason. With the cap increasing, and one less year remaining on it, Grant’s contract looks a lot more palatable to teams in need of some offensive firepower that may already have their 1a and 1b players. Perhaps when the Los Angeles Lakers strike out on adding an All-Star to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Blazers can send them Grant in exchange for pieces and future picks that will backfill what was lost in the Brogdon deal? Just something to think about.</p><p>The Blazers were a poor team last season. With a potentially historic 2025 draft coming up, they have little incentive to improve this year. So why did they add Avdija? It makes sense if other moves to remove some vets from the roster are coming down the line. Once that happens, and Portland adds a (hopefully) top end 2025 pick, the makings of a young core will be in place with Shaedon Sharpe, Scoot Henderson, Donovan Clingan, next-year’s pick that could be Cooper Flagg, and Avdija.</p><p>That’s worth an extra first rounder in a year where you will be drafting three times in the first round.</p><p><b>Final trade grade: B</b></p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

A source close to the team says that Brogdon received platelet rich plasma therapy.</p><p>Brogdon last played for the Blazers on Feb. 2 in Portland’s loss to the Denver Nuggets. He was ruled out of the team’s next game with a right knee contusion, missed Portland’s next two home games due to an unspecified illness, and now is out due to the elbow issues.</p><p>The Blazers could use his leadership on the court. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-knicks-interest-pj-washington-bruce-brown-jr-trade-deadline" rel="noopener">Knicks have a legitimate chance</a> to make it to the NBA Finals and they should be going all-in this season. They already made one major move in trading for OG Anunoby, and another deal could put New York in a great spot to contend for a championship.</p><p>The Portland Trail Blazers, meanwhile, are in the middle of a rebuild. They have three core players in Anfernee Simons, Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe. The <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-malcolm-brogdon-prefers-remain-blazers-trade-deadline" rel="noopener">Blazers need to build around</a> that trio, meaning Portland’s other valuable players are better used trade chips to acquire future assets. This contrast makes the Knicks and Blazers ideal trade partners.</p><p>A hypothetical Brogdan trade between New York and Portland <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/insider/story/_/id/39408945/2024-nba-trade-deadline-six-big-trades-want-see-lakers-hawks-nets-knicks-76ers" rel="noopener">was recently proposed</a> by ESPN’s  Chris Herring. Let’s break down the deal and give each team a grade.</p><h2><b>Knicks get: </b></h2><p><i><b>Malcolm Brogdon</b></i></p><h2><b>Trail Blazers get: </b></h2><p><i><b>Evan Fournier, 2024 first round pick and 2025 second round pick</b></i></p><p>In this deal, the Knicks acquire a versatile two-way player who can contribute in many ways in exchange for a seldom-used bench piece and future draft picks.</p><p>Malcolm Brogdon can play a supporting role in the starting rotation, and he could just as easily lead the team’s second unit. This by itself makes Brogdon incredibly valuable, because while a strong starting rotation is important, it is equally vital to make sure that your bench players do not blow the game when the starters need to rest.</p><p>Brogdon is capable of playing on and off the ball. He is a strong cutter and three-point shooter who would fit in well in New York while playing off of Jalen Brunson’s creation ability.</p><p>Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers get Evan Fournier and two draft picks. Fournier is a useful player but he won’t get Portland back into playoff contention by himself. Rather, this is about helping the Blazers accelerate their rebuild.</p><h2><b>Knicks still need more firepower after adding OG Anunoby</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/OG_Anunoby_s_honest_take_on_looming_Raptors_game_sums_up_human_aspect_of_trades.webp"></figure><p>The Knicks recently traded for two-way star OG Anunoby, who was previously with the Toronto Raptors. Anunoby brings a strong defensive presence to the Knicks, along with scoring capabilities.</p><p>However, Anunoby is best suited as a tertiary scoring option. He is capable of creating for himself, but is at his best when he is playing off of somebody else.</p><p>Anunoby’s handles are adequate, but he can sometimes struggle to get by defenders in isolation, and he is prone to turning the ball over.</p><p>When Anunoby has other playmakers to initiate the offense, he is lethal. When his teammates can get a defense off balance, Anunoby can leverage his top-tier athleticism and instincts to take advantage of the opportunity and make the defense pay.</p><p>While the Knicks have one elite creator in Jalen Brunson who can make plays for himself and others, Brunson is the only true perimeter creator. Brogdon would bring ball-handling skills to serve as a secondary initiator, efficient scoring and additional defense.</p><h2><b>Portland can flip Fournier for additional assets</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/NBA_rumors_Malcolm_Brogdon_prefers_to_remain_with_Blazers_at_trade_deadline.webp"></figure><p>Evan Fournier will be an unrestricted free agent in 2025. This will give Fournier some value to the Blazers as a future trade asset. At next year’s trade deadline, the Blazers should be able to flip Fournier to a team looking to clear up cap space by acquiring an expiring contract in exchange for a player with a contract the team wishes to move, along with one or multiple draft picks as compensation.</p><p>The first round pick Portland will acquire from the Knicks is likely to fall in the late teens to the mid-twenties, but this will still be valuable to Portland. The 2024 draft class isn’t particularly top-heavy and doesn’t have a consensus top player. However, there is depth, and some good players are likely to fall in the draft.</p><p>Depending on where New York’s pick falls, Portland can package that selection with their own to move up a few slots in the order. Or, they can use it to add two young, cost-controlled players to complement their emerging core.</p><p>This would be an opportunity for the Blazers to draft a wing such as Zaccharie Risacher with their own pick, and then add a big man with New York’s pick such as Kel’el Ware or even potentially Donovan Clingan. This deal would give the Blazers three first round picks, as they also have a pick from Golden State that is top-four protected.</p><h2><b>Blazers get enviable flexibility, but could get more for Brogdon</b></h2><p>This deal by itself would give the Blazers incredible flexibility, with the opportunity to draft three potential contributors or to package their picks and move up for a player that Portland’s front office really likes.</p><p>Brogdon is a good player, and Portland may be able to find a better deal. They would be wise to try and get at least another second round pick out of the Knicks in this deal, but they could do a lot worse than the added draft flexibility they will get from this deal.</p><p><i><b>Portland Trail Blazers Grade: B+</b></i></p><h2><b>The Knicks get an excellent fit for a reasonable cost</b></h2><p>The Knicks will be adding an efficient player who addresses their most pressing needs. They will only lose a projected late first round pick, a second round pick and a player on the end of their bench. And I’ve enjoyed being coached by Chauncey [Billups].”</p><p>Things didn’t quite work out with Brogdon for the Celtics, but they’ve benefitted from trading him so far. Brogdon played 38 minutes, but he struggled from the floor. Brogdon shot 4-13 and only 1-6 from the 3-point line on his way to 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists.</p><p>If he’s unable to go, it’s likely that rookie Scoot Henderson would the get the start for the Blazers alongside Anfernee Simons in the backcourt.</p><p>On Sunday night, Blazers coach Chauncey Billups <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/blazers-news-portland-effort-more-deandre-ayton" rel="noopener">commended Brogdon</a> as one of the players who had been making a concerted effort to find Deandre Ayton and get him more involved in the offense:</p><p>“You know, I think Ant [Simons], and Malcolm [Brogdon], and Scoot [Henderson] and those guys have made a real effort to make sure to get him the ball in that pocket. Two games under .500 and a game underneath the 10th seed in the Western Conference, moves need to be made for the Rockets, as they have been 5-8 in the month of January.</p><p>Since an ugly loss to the Portland Trailblazers on Wednesday, news <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/how-the-rockets-can-utilize-victor-oladipos-9-4-million-contract" rel="noopener">has been circling</a> around the Rockets regarding Blazers veteran Malcolm Brogdon. Other teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks could also be <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nba-rumors-rockets-lakers-knicks-malcolm-brogdon-trade-suitors" rel="noopener">possible suitors</a> for the reigning Sixth Man of the Year.</p><p>In addition to Brogdon, Houston has also considered adding Robert Williams III to the trade package in order to fill the gaping hole that is the team’s lack of center depth. Here is why adding Williams to the package might be bad for Houston.</p><h2><b>Analyzing Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams III’s fit with Rockets</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Blazers-news-Portland_s-Damian-Lillard-trade-haul-after-dealing-Jrue-Holiday-to-Celtics.jpg"></figure><p>On paper, the Rockets bringing in Brogdon and Williams is a match made in heaven. Why not kill two birds with one stone? For starters, both are familiar with the Boston Celtics coaching staff and front office. Brogdon, in particular, is a perfect backup combo guard to complement any team. In 35 games, Brogdon is averaging 15.7 points and 5.3 assists including a solid 42.2% from deep. Providing reliable scoring, passing and defense, the 31-year old would be a great addition to the Rockets struggling bench.</p><p>Williams is quite familiar with coach Ime Udoka, having played for him in Boston during the Celtics’ 2022 NBA Finals run. He was especially integral to Boston’s defense, cementing himself as a true difference-maker in the playoffs. That was also Williams’ best regular season, averaging 10 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. His defense in the paint will certainly provide more versatility and take some of the slack from Alperen Sengun and the Rockets undersized forwards.</p><h2><b>Injury prone</b></h2><p>The problem? The injury history between the two. Brogdon’s injury history dates back to his sophomore season. On average, Brogdon’s appeared in 54.1 games since his second year in the league, including two shortened 72-game seasons from in 2019-20 and 202-21.</p><p>While it’s not a huge risk acquiring Brogdon, adding Williams in the deal would make it much more fraught.</p><p>Currently, Williams is <a href="https://www.nba.com/news/blazers-robert-williams-knee-surgery">out for the season</a> with a torn ligament in his knee after playing just six games. Injury issues have been rampant ever since he stepped foot on an NBA court. In just his sixth NBA season at age 26, Williams has yet to play more than 61 games. Including this season, Williams averages just around 35 games. Theoretically, trading for him wouldn’t make any impact this season, but he could be a solid weapon in the following years if healthy.</p><h2><b>Financial implications for the Rockets</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Rockets-3-major-offseason-fixes-Houston-must-make-to-reach-2024-NBA-Playoffs.jpg"></figure><p>That’s if Williams is able to keep himself on the court, of course. Right now, injuries outweigh the talent, and he is under contract through 2025-2026 making a total of $48 million. Having his payroll on the roster could prove costly when Houston is trying to bring in depth elsewhere.</p><p>It’s just too much of a gamble adding Williams along with the 2015 Rookie of the Year, who already has an injury history of his own. With Brogdon making $22.5 million in 2023-2024 and 2024-25 , the two combined would account for $34 million on this season’s payroll alone.</p><p>This would be a different story if Williams was available. With Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks’ combined salary of $63.4 million this year, having four players—one of them unplayable and neither of them being franchise players—combine to make nearly $100 million is a recipe for disaster, especially when you need to start looking to extend your main core.</p><p>Keep in mind, this isn’t saying that Williams’ fit on the Rockets won’t work. It certainly could, but only if he is fully healthy. Nevertheless, he hasn’t proved his reliability on the court. If Houston pulls off this trade, it will haunt their future depth moving forward.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

One name that has also been picking up steam is Portland Trail Blazers guard Malcolm Brogdon. The veteran point guard has done well in his first season with the Blazers, but there are quite a few teams <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/knicks-explore-malcolm-brogdon-trade" rel="noopener">interested in landing</a> him. The Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks are <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sources-bruce-brown-dejounte-murray-trade-market-trade-deadline-rumors" rel="noopener">two teams showing interest,</a> per ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.</p><p>“Malcolm Brogdon has been made available in trade talks by the Portland Trail Blazers in recent weeks, sources said. The Philadelphia 76ers, Magic, Knicks, and Lakers have all talked with the Blazers recently regarding Brogdon. It continues to look unlikely that Portland will make Jerami Grant readily available in trade conversations.”</p><p>There are other teams interested in landing Brogdon via trade, including the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers. Brogdon is averaging 15.5 PPG with 5.3 assists for the Blazers <a href="https://www.nba.com/player/1627763/malcolm-brogdon" rel="noopener">this season</a>. But, with Portland sporting a 12-30 record, moving him for some draft assets makes sense from all avenues.</p><p>The 76ers are third in the Eastern Conference and the Knicks are fifth, so both teams are trying hard to improve. The Knicks already did so by <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/takeaways-og-anunoby-knicks-debut-raptors-trade" rel="noopener">acquiring OG Anunoby</a> in a trade with the Toronto Raptors, and they don’t appear done just yet.</p><p>Malcolm Brogdon was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/celtics-news-malcolm-brogdon-receives-sixth-man-of-the-year-trophy-from-jamal-crawford-on-tnt" rel="noopener">named Sixth Man of the Year</a> in 2022 with the Boston Celtics but was sent to the Blazers as part of the Jrue Holiday blockbuster trade in the offseason. Drew has conducted interviews inside NBA locker rooms including Madison Square Garden, the Barclays Center, and the Kia Center, and he covered the 2019 NBA Draft in-person from Brooklyn.</address><h3 class="op-kicker">Editorials</h3><figure class="op-ad"></figure></header><p><a href="https://clutchpoints.com/knicks-news-new-york-dejounte-murray-trade" rel="noopener">Much like Dejounte Murray</a>, Malcolm Brogdon could be an addition the New York Knicks decide to pursue ahead of the 2024 NBA trade deadline.</p><p>Despite winning the 2016-17 Rookie of the Year award and the 2022-23 <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/celtics-news-malcolm-brogdon-wins-sixth-man-of-the-year-award" rel="noopener">Sixth Man of the Year award</a>, Brogdon has never received the acclaim he deserves. At 6’4”, he’s a pretty big lead guard, an excellent three-point shooter and a willing passer who averaged a career-high 7.1 assists per game in 2019-20 with the Indiana Pacers.</p><h2><b>Why hasn’t Malcolm Brogdon stuck?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Blazers_news_Malcolm_Brogdon_s_worrisome_injury_gets_update.jpg"></figure><p>Despite his talent, Malcolm Brogdon has weirdly bounced around. The Milwaukee Bucks selected him in the second round in 2016, but he was involved in a sign-and-trade in the summer of 2019, mostly because they felt the offer sheet he signed with Indiana was simply too much to enable them to continue building a contender.</p><p>In 2022, the Pacers decided to swap Domantas Sabonis for Tyrese Haliburton. Haliburton was clearly the team’s point guard of the future. Not surprisingly, <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/grading-the-celtics-shocking-trade-for-malcom-brogdon" rel="noopener">Brogdon was traded</a> to the Boston Celtics a few months later.</p><p>Brogdon excelled in the role of sixth-man role in Boston, which certainly bolstered the Celtics’ bench. But his tenure in Boston wasn’t long-lived, as he was <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/clippers-news-malcolm-brogdon-prepared-to-be-a-clipper-twice-this-summer" rel="noopener">traded to Portland</a> as part of a larger deal for Jrue Holiday.</p><p>Ultimately, Brogdon is a good player who has had the misfortune of playing for teams that were able to upgrade the lead guard position — at his expense. Injuries have also played a factor, as he has never played more than the 75 games he did in his rookie season. In fact, that’s the only season in which he hit the 70-game mark.</p><h2><b>What has Brogdon done in his career?</b></h2><p>But don’t be fooled by the various trades in which he has been involved. Brogdon is still more than capable of playing starting-caliber basketball. That’s not even the role he’d be asked to play on the Knicks.</p><p>So, what does Brogdon bring to the table? He’s a career 39% three-point shooter. He’s a capable floor general who has averaged 5.7 assists per 36 minutes throughout his entire eight-year career. And he’s an above-average defender.</p><h2><b>What has Brogdon done recently?</b></h2><p>But let’s have a look at his recent production, as any talent evaluator would be wise to review up-to-date stats on a 31-year-old with an injury history (he has played 27 of 34 games this season). In the past five games, Brogdon is averaging 18.0 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in 28.4 minutes per game. Not bad for an old man who hasn’t stuck with any team for too long, right?</p><p>And let’s remember, Portland is clearly in a rebuild. So, wins aren’t necessarily valued. They are 5-6 when Brogdon plays 30+ minutes, and they’re 4-11 when he plays under 30. He obviously impacts winning, even with a team full of youngsters.</p><p>Can Brogdon come on board and liven up the Knicks’ second unit? He certainly can. He’d actually be a breath of fresh air for a team that could use a consistent lead guard behind Jalen Brunson and more shooting to space the floor. Of course <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/knicks-miles-mcbride-ready-prove-deserves-more-minutes-og-anunoby-trade" rel="noopener">Miles McBride deserves a shot</a>, but there must be someone who can steady the ship when the waters get rough. McBride deserves a look, but he’s inexperienced. Brogdon’s experience is a major reason for the presumable interest in him.</p><p>But Brogdon doesn’t have the appeal of a Murray, Donovan Mitchell, etc. His game is comparatively conservative. His impact is less obvious. But he’d cost a whole lot less as far as what New York would have to give up, and his contract expires after next season.</p><h2><b>What would New York have to give up?</b></h2><figure><img src="https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/knicks-news-evan-fournier-continues-to-hint-at-possible-trade-following-fiba-world-cup.jpg"></figure><p>That’s actually sort of difficult to gauge. As mentioned above, the Blazers are in the early stages of a rebuild and the Knicks don’t have many players who fit that sort of a timeline. So, it would probably be a draft pick or two.</p><p>But which one? The Knicks have all of their own first-round picks, as well as the 2024 Dallas Mavericks protected first-rounder, 2024 Washington Wizards protected first-rounder, 2024 Detroit Pistons protected first-rounder, and Milwaukee Bucks 2025 protected first-rounder. The Dallas pick is the most likely to convey this year, which is actually a near certainty.</p><p>So, what would it be? <a href="https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10103571-nba-trade-block-big-board-deals-for-top-rumored-targets-1-month-before-deadline" rel="noopener">Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley recently suggested</a> a deal could be done for Evan Fournier, the 2024 Washington pick, and a 2024 second-rounder. That seems fair enough to both sides.</p><p>The question is, is this the best deal the Knicks can swing? If it cost the Knicks a first-rounder, that would probably be it in terms of in-season additions, as New York is clearly holding picks in hopes of a bigger deal this upcoming summer.</p><p>Malcolm Brogdon would definitely improves the Knicks’ rotation, but the front office should explore other options before agreeing to a deal. At the end of the day, the Knicks should consider making this deal, assuming it only costs one first-rounder and <i>if</i> there isn’t a better deal to be had.
