It was later confirmed by <a href="https://www.virtus.it/news/marco-belinelli-e-un-nuovo-giocatore-di-virtus-segafredo-bologna/">Virtus Bologna</a> then by Belinelli himself via Twitter. He has played for the Golden State Warriors, the Toronto Raptors, the New Orleans Hornets, the Chicago Bulls, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Philadelphia 76ers, along with the Spurs.</p><p>Most known for his stint with the Spurs, he won his first NBA title in 2014 when the Gregg Popovich-helmed squad defeated the powerhouse Miami Heat squad in five games. Belinelli is known for his toughness and versatility on both ends of the floor. Standing 6-foot-5, Belinelli usually plays the two spot but can easily move up the three.</p><p>For his NBA career, including the Spurs, the Italian averaged <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/belinma01.html">9.7 points</a>, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists across 22.7 minutes. He’s a career 42.4 percent shooter from the field and 37.6 from downtown.</p><p>In this post-Spurs venture at Virtus Bologna, Belinelli will join European stud and former Los Angeles Clippers guard Milos Teodosic. Miami Hurricanes star Julian Gamble will also be part of the team. This will also mark a comeback for Belinelli as Virtus Bologan is his first professional team way back when he was 16. A few days later, Gobert had a fever of over 100 and wound up testing positive for COVID-19.</p><p>Via <a href="https://news4sanantonio.com/sports/spurs-zone/marco-belinelli-says-what-utahs-rudy-gobert-did-was-terrible">Jeff Garcia of Spurs Zone</a>:</p><blockquote>In an interview with Italy’s Corriere della Sera (via Sportando), San Antonio Spurs’ Marco Belinelli expressed his thoughts on Rudy Gobert’s behavior saying what he did was “terrible.”“Terrible. I prefer not to express myself because I don’t want to say things that then seem offensive or too serious, but what he did was yes, terrible,” Belinelli said.</blockquote><p>Last month, Belinelli offered financial assistance to hospitals in his native Bologna, Italy to aid in the battle against the global coronavirus crisis.</p><p>The Spurs guard isn’t able to go home because of the pandemic. Belinelli is the son of an Italian surgeon. The NBA suspended the 2019-20 season after Gobert tested positive. His teammate Donovan Mitchell tested positive as well.</p><p>Before the season got suspended, the Spurs were in 12th place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 27-36. San Antonio was actually in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 1997.</p><p>Belinelli, who was part of the 2014 Spurs team which won the championship over LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/miami-heat/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Miami Heat</a>, appeared in 52 games for San Antonio before the season was suspended. I can help as far as I can, in the hope of being able to return to Bologna soon and thank one by one all the people who are on the front lines today. In 79 appearances (one start), the former 3-Point Shootout champion (2014) racked up averages of <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/belinma01.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">10.5 points</a> on 41.3 percent shooting from the field (37.2 percent from beyond the arc), 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 23.0 minutes per outing.
