The former Yakima Valley Community College standout did not exactly take the NBA by storm in his rookie season, averaging <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/beaucma01.html#all_per_game-playoffs_per_game" rel="noopener">5.1 points</a> and 2.2 rebounds per in 13.5 minutes per game. However, this explosion should put the Bucks on notice. Among the most popular are the Drew League in Los Angeles, AEBL in Atlanta and the Miami Pro League in Miami. The NBA itself has even partnered with a few of these pro-ams to stream them live on the NBA app. NBA stars and role players alike take part in these league with Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving being <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/mavs-news-kyrie-irving-reacts-epic-triple-double-drew-league-debut" rel="noopener">one of the most recent</a>. Tha Crawsover in Seattle is the only one of these pro-am leagues that’s run by a former NBA player in Jamal Crawford. Each summer Crawford’s league features some of the top NBA players with ties to the Seattle area. He had 40 points by halftime which means he scored another 40 in the second half. Beauchamp is coming off a strong showing at Summer League in Las Vegas and so it’s reasonable to believe that he could build off these offseason performances and take a huge leap in his second season with the Bucks.</p><p>This past season as a rookie, Beauchamp averaged 5.1 points per game and 2.2 rebounds with splits of 39.5 percent shooting from the field, 33.1 percent shooting from the three-point line and 73 percent shooting from the free-throw line. He played in 52 games, including 11 starts at a little over 13 minutes per game. The 22nd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft led the team in minutes per game (28.9) and points per game (13.3) during Milwaukee’s five contests in Las Vegas.</p><p>The young wing came to Milwaukee with great offensive promise, averaging 30.5 PPG with Yakima Valley College and then 15.1 PPG with G-League Ignite — both in limited games. Beauchamp played in 52 contests for the Bucks as a rookie, including 11 starts. He averaged 8.9 PPG in contests in which he played at least 15 minutes, reaching double figures in half of them.</p><p>The Bucks will hope Beauchamp can continue to develop during his second year in Milwaukee and provide much-needed scoring off the bench, and the NBA Summer League is the first opportunity for the team to make note of his off-season progress. MarJon Beauchamp demonstrated improvement during his four Summer League appearances, but the 22-year-old still has room for improvement entering his sophomore season. Breaking down the Bucks’ biggest concern about MarJon Beauchamp from his performances in Las Vegas this summer.</p><h1><b>Bucks’ biggest concern about MarJon Beauchamp after 2023 NBA Summer League performance</b></h1><h2><b>Inconsistency offensively</b></h2><p>Beauchamp started Summer League off strongly, averaging 21.5 PPG on 16-31 (51.6%) shooting from the field during his first two contests. The 6-6 wing excelled at getting to the rim off the dribble and frequently used his athleticism to finish and-one opportunities. When in rhythm, Beauchamp also scored from all three levels, both off the dribble and through catch-and-shoot opportunities.</p><p>The second-year player drew praise from new Bucks coach Adrian Griffin for his aggressiveness and willingness to attack with the ball.”What I do like from Summer League is him getting to the rim, just kind of him imposing his will,” <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nba/bucks/2023/07/14/marjon-beauchamp-milwaukee-bucks-ready-for-year-two-im-here-to-take-that-leap/70403799007/" rel="noopener">Griffin said</a>. “I think he has great size, great physicality and he’s been getting to the rim and when you get to the rim good things happen.”</p><p>The comfort and confidence Beauchamp demonstrated to begin Summer League play was absent over his next two games. The second-year player hit just 5-16 shots for a total of 10 points, with nine of these shots coming from beyond the arc. During the first two contests, less than one-third of Beauchamp’s field goal attempts were from three-point range, signaling a departure from the aggressive driving the 22-year-old showed earlier during Summer League play.</p><p>His plus-minus during this stretch was -42 over 52 minutes on the court. Beauchamp’s rebounding numbers dropped as well, from 14 in the Bucks’ first two games to just three across the final two contests he played.</p><p>The Bucks were blown out by the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat in each of these games, so the blame is not on Beauchamp alone — especially since Milwaukee turned the ball over 47 times across these two matchups. But Milwaukee would have expected a guy with moderate NBA experience to continue his strong showing against rookies and fringe players, many of whom will never play in the league.</p><p>As a young player, hopefully, he will learn from his struggles in Vegas and play more to his strengths — getting to the hoop of the dribble and taking advantage of his physicality, as he did earlier in Summer League play. Overall, MarJon Beauchamp’s Summer League showing was encouraging, as he showed the best of his skillset on the court while also highlighting the weaknesses in his mental approach — giving him a strong platform to improve moving forward.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

It was a long and difficult journey for the 21-year-old, but through all the ups and downs, Beauchamp has kept his head held high.</p><p>Now that he is in a position to give back to the community, this is exactly what the Bucks newcomer is doing. He’s already following in the footsteps of team talisman Giannis Antetokounmpo in that Beauchamp is making sure that he is able to pay it forward in any way that he can.</p><p>MarJon Beauchamp recently took the time to do a meet and greet with fans at his alma matter of Yakima Valley College in Washington. They failed to defend their title after bowing to the Boston Celtics in the second round of the playoffs. They were THIS close to weathering the major injuries they suffered during the playoffs.</p><p>Their first major addition of the 2022 offseason came in the 2022 NBA Draft, when the Bucks selected MarJon Beauchamp with the <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/2022-nba-draft-news-bucks-select-marjon-beauchamp-with-24th-pick/">24th overall pick</a>. Beauchamp, a G League Ignite product is in a rather tough position for a rookie. First-year players tend to struggle for minutes on a contending team, after all.</p><p>Can the rookie make an immediate impact for the Bucks? Here are our bold predictions for MarJon Beauchamp in his rookie year with the Bucks.</p><h2>3 bold predictions for MarJon Beauchamp in his rookie season with Bucks</h2><p><b>1. Beauchamp’s energy translates to the NBA.</b></p><p>MarJon Beauchamp’s biggest asset heading into the NBA is his high-revving motor. The G League Ignite star made a name for himself as a high-energy forward off the bench who can provide a spark to a struggling lineup. He’s absolutely phenomenal at crashing the boards and finishing plays on offense.</p><p>With the Milwaukee Bucks, Beauchamp has a chance to use this energy he has to make a winning impact for a title contender. He won’t be asked to do too much on offense, as he’ll be playing alongside elite playmakers. Having guys like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday will open up so many opportunities for Beauchamp to slip through the defense and cut into open space for an easy bucket. On defense, his high-octane motor fits in perfectly with the Bucks’ disruptive defensive schemes.</p><p><b>2. Beauchamp’s three-point shooting will improve next season.</b></p><p>One of the biggest knocks on Marjon Beauchamp’s game is his lack of a reliable jumper from the outside. The 2022 NBA draftee struggled to shoot with consistency from three-point range. He<a href="https://stats.gleague.nba.com/player/1630699/traditional/"> made an atrocious</a> 24% of his shots from that range in 2021. That, along with his unimpressive free-throw shooting (65% in the G League Ignite) raised a ton of questions surrounding his fit in the modern NBA.</p><p>There’s a lot of hope, though, that Beauchamp can correct these mistakes in his rookie year. Already, the Bucks rookie has made three of his six attempts in his first Summer League game. That’s not to say his jumper is already fixed: he did shot 50% from the line in that game too. However, that does open the possibility of him making a higher percentage of his shots from the outside.</p><p>If MarJon Beauchamp ever gets a reliable jumper from deep, the Bucks rookie will instantly be a hit sensation for the team.</p><p><b>3. Beauchamp will crack the Bucks’ playoff rotation.</b></p><p>The playoffs are a notoriously bad place to be in as a rookie. It’s rare for rookies coming off the bench to find significant minutes come the postseason. When rotations start to tighten up, coaches are more likely to go to their veteran players instead of a rookie. That’s just how it is.</p><p>It’s not a stretch to predict, though, that Beauchamp could see some serious minutes for the Bucks in the playoffs. Milwaukee’s wing depth is rather suspect, to say the least. Pat Connaughton is a solid contributor, but other than him, the team is light on dependable wings off the bench.</p><p>MarJon Beauchamp, on the other hand, has the size and the skill to defend from positions one to three.
